    Pizza!
    Ann C.

I cannot believe I have never reviewed The Donkey Inn (the Donk as we call it). We ate here just about every Saturday night as our favorite waitress worked here. If I could give half stars, our most recent dining experience would get 4.5 stars. Better than a 4 but not quite a 5. We went on a Saturday evening after a long family discussion on where we should go. It had been almost three years since we ate there and we just weren't sure if it would be the same. I believe I had iced tea, the teens had cherry Pepsi's and the husband had a beer. We ordered potato skins as an app and the fam said they were as good as they remembered. For dinner my husband ordered a pizza, my son ordered the Cajun chicken strips and fries, my daughter ordered a tuna melt and tater tots and I ordered the pick 2 half sandwich/salad/soup thingy. I picked the soup of the day and a half turkey sandwich on marble rye. The soup of the day was creamy chicken and rice (one of my faves). Everything we ordered was so good. It was really nice to be back at our old stomping grounds and the food seemed to be better than it was three years ago.

Ordered this thin crust sausage pizza. It was perfection, crispy crust cheesy goodness.

    Really good Bloody Mary!

Met some friends on a Sunday afternoon. They have a few types of Bloody Marys. I got the Donkey. Big, flavorful, with fixings and a beer chaser. It was good! I ordered biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs. A different type of biscuit gravy with big cubes of sausage but really tasty. I know they have breakfast specials and it draws in people. My friend ordered a salad and the extras she asked for seemed a little expensive. I would stick to the menu. Nice restaurant, big and clean. Good friendly service. I just wish it was named something different ha. I'll go back though. Especially for a Bloody Mary.

Donkey Inn is a great place to escape rush hour traffic, which is just what we did. It has a large shaped bar for lots of bar seating. They have tables too and a separate dining/party room. We stopped in for a beer and ended up getting a pizza, and stay for the Bears NHL game.

The fish tacos are still good, but I sure miss the beans and rice. Fry's just don't make it.

So, when visiting them, we decided to stop by here for breakfast. The atmosphere is cute, I guess. Neighborhood greasy-spoon/diner vibe, with obvious regulars and staff greeting them. Our waitress was brash and frankly, barely came around, so maybe they favor the regulars here? Not sure. I asked for an Iced Coffee, was given bland cold brew. The food was decent but not great. The Irish Benedict was very heavy, and the hollandaise sauce tasted like grease. My Dad got a Traditional Breakfast. He said the eggs were fine but the sausage was slick with grease. The best item was the pancakes, so I guess this restaurant is named accordingly. No, I wouldn't come back, due to the mediocre service and food. However, this location has shut down/is shutting down since I visited a few weeks ago. Can't say I'm surprised!

I was there on Easter Sunday with my family enjoying my (delicious) meal when we heard some commotion at a nearby table. The commotion was coming from a server who seemed to be having some sort of informal meeting with upper management. The server was basically yelling at upper management and being very rude. I don't even think upper management was able to get a word in. Since I'm always here with family, I know one of the managers on a first name basis (Eric). Eric is such a kind and helpful employee. He was one of the individuals being yelled at by this server. I'm not sure the other managers name but she had dark hair. They did a great job handling the very uncomfortable situation. I felt so bad for both of them having to deal with this situation on top of a holiday weekend. Besides the managers handling this situation with such grace, everything else was awesome! I ordered the veggie skillet and iced latte. Both were delicious as always! I will continue to support this restaurant as they truly are kind individuals with amazing food!

It has this upbeat, slightly hipster café vibe that reminds me of some of the neighborhood coffee shops you'd stumble into in NYC; modern and energetic without feeling pretentious. The food is legitimately good too. Their avocado toast is one of my favorites, and they have some excellent breakfast sandwiches and burritos when you want something a little more substantial. Everything I've had has tasted fresh and feels like more than the obligatory food menu you sometimes get at a coffee shop. The drink selection is a big part of the appeal. There are tons of gourmet coffee and tea options, so whether I'm looking for a straightforward cup of coffee or something a little more interesting, there's always plenty to choose from. Service has consistently been friendly and fast, even when there's a crowd. The staff keeps things moving while still being welcoming, which fits the whole energetic atmosphere of the place. Between the great coffee, surprisingly substantial breakfast options, friendly service, and that cool NYC-style café vibe, Daily Projects is an easy recommendation. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance with dim, intimate lighting and a clean, modern presentation. It feels polished without being stiff, refined but still welcoming. Most importantly, it delivers where it counts, on the plate. We started with the lamb lollipops, cooked precisely to temperature and finished with crushed pistachios, pomegranate, and a rich demi-glace. Each bite delivered depth, brightness, and texture. The Dungeness crab croquettes were equally impressive, crispy on the outside with a delicate, herbaceous interior. Rich, but never heavy. The French onion soup is an experience in itself, served in a hollowed onion. Bold, deeply savory, and incredibly comforting. Service elevated the night even further. Our server, Karra, asked if we'd sharing and had the kitchen split our entrées into individual portions, a thoughtful touch. The steak arrived perfectly cooked, and exactly as ordered. We finished with the English sticky toffee pudding, warm, gooey, and unapologetically decadent. Montarra doesn't chase trends.
