Was expecting so much from this place, but it didn't really deliver. First time, and it was just meh. First, the people are very nice and friendly. That is a positive. The actual hot dog was good, but the bun ruined it for me. It was just a piece of one soft white bun. If you toast it with a little butter, then you got something. Onion rings were very tasty, but need to be a little more crispy. They are also known for their donuts. I enjoyed it, but have had much better in my home town. I like a more glazed donut, and this one was more of a cake donut. Good, but not great. This place is not horrible at all, just not to my liking. The quality of the hot dog is good, and it is cooked very good. If they fix the bun, then you got a 5 in my book.

Despite what other reviews say. This place was great, service was excellent! Everyone was friendly and very quick. The food was also awesome, I can't say it was spectacular or life changing nor original. But it's what you would expect. A old school fry house, with perfectly crispy fries and a really yummy hot dog. It perfectly emulates the feeling that a fry house gives you. Ambiance was also great and sends you right back to 1980! If you're in the area it's certainly worth a visit! Dont forget to grab a donut

Avoid getting French Fries. Wet, soggy, soft, salty, cold, could squeeze oil out of them. Dirty and dark indicating cooking oil has not been changed for a long time. Had to throw them out.

This is the ORIGINAL Bolley's location. If you're a lover of hot dogs, it is not to be missed. There aren't many places that I specifically crave hot dogs from, but Bolley's makes the list. For those not from the area, Bolley's is an Augusta, Maine tradition. Nostalgia is the main draw to this place, but the dogs and fries definitely still hold up. Everything comes out cooked to order and piping hot. If you like State Fair style, fresh-cut french fries (and who doesn't?), Bolley's is your place. I can't speak too much to the rest of the menu (as the name indicates, there's really one thing this place is known for...), but my husband ordered a burger and said it was just okay. So, stick to the dogs & fries if you want to be safe. The inside of this place looks like it hasn't been touched in decades, but this isn't a place you come to for the atmosphere. Visiting Bolley's feels like a trip down memory lane... and it's a (delicious!) trip worth taking.

So this place is old and has a lot of character, you want to try the donuts - they're made in house and a local treasure. The rest of the food is typical local high grade diner style.

This is the most adorable old school hot dog stand. There is a cozy dining room but there are also some picnic tables outside! They take cards and are an awesome and inexpensive lunch stop. My advice: go for the donuts they fry them fresh!

Re: A small restaurant with a large sign, outside of Augusta and next to one of our favorite cemeteries. We technically ate here twice on our trip, once on the way there, when we grabbed a couple of pastries and we ate dinner there on the way home. We bought a whoopie pie, a strawberry pastry, a rasberry pastry, one frank($1.75 or 3/$3.33), a chicken basket ($6) and a lobster roll basket($10). Outstanding: Everything they make there is amazing. Decadent, perfectly prepared and made quickly. The pastries were so light and fluffy you couldn't hope to eat them neatly and their unconventional lobster roll was a unique treat. Their prices are very reasonable. The Chicken strip dinner I got was $6. Unacceptable: The service, while efficient is pretty surly. The young girls that waited on us clearly preferred to be chatting with their co-workers. They weren't rude, just uninvolved and a bit annoyed with our indecisiveness. The dining room leaves a bit to be desired. Summary: Man, we love everything we've had here, and it's gonna be torture driving past the restaurant every day to and from work now that I know how good it is. Their chicken basket is especially impressive - hot and crispy with juicy chicken and a breading that lets the flavor of the meat shine through, coupled with fresh tasting crispy french fries. 5/5 Notes - Bolley's is pronounced Bowl-Eees. Just in case. And bring cash - no cards allowed

Great donuts. Cake style, not yeast. And very very yummy! Wish we got to try hot dogs, and will ... Next year.

Dinner was great- had the calamari appetizer, and stuffed baked haddock. While not the best I've ever had, it was pretty good. Mashed potatoes could have been more mashed - ran into some large hard chunks. Our waitress pleasant, but interrupted our conversation several times. Some social training seems to be in order. Additionally, she disappeared for over 15 minutes, leaving our drinks sitting on the bar. I fetched them for our table and she never even seemed to notice. Although the food tasted good, we will never be back, as both my husband and I suffered diarrhea from it... wasn't going to mention this but honestly people should know. I've never had to report this about a restaurant in any of my reviews.

Highly recommend this establishment. So if in the area definitely give it a try.
