Although I enjoyed the flavors and the food, I was disappointed by how difficult it was to place an order online. The website was slow and I was trying to avoid paying an upcharge by using a third party app. It did not have all the options for extra sides. If I wanted no meat saag I couldn't find it. Didn't feel as user friendly as I would've liked. I did try ordering through another app but they didn't have everything I was trying to order either and then for some reason the app crashed. I wish I could remember which one. I finally called and was able to successfully place an order. So, future orders will be via call I don't think I even want to try ordering online again. Which, is a shame. The only reason this place got another star knocked from my review was I felt I didn't get a lot of meat for what I was paying for. Plenty of sauce and rice, not much meat. This is probably more of a personal opinion. I would order again, but I don't think this restaurant would be my go to. I'd prefer to order from a restaurant that I don't have to call for an easy order and I'm on the hunt for something local, but I can get a little more meat. I'm just a meat loving gal. That's all. I will say, the flavors were hitting. So, despite my opinion, the food was delicious and I do recommend for anyone to give it a try. read more

There are several Bollywood Masalas in the region. This was my least favorite of them. Which is to say, it was still good, and there was definitely a recognizable similarity. They offered lunch specials even on a holiday, which I appreciate, but mine came with a bunch of broccoli pakoras and cucumber salad that I just don't like and which wasn't announced. I would have just ordered off the regular menu if I'd known. They have some vegan options marked, but the lunch menu wasn't great for that as the chickpea curry I would have ordered was a side and not a centerpiece option. Having said that, their paneer madras was complex in flavor to the extreme, and their chickpeas were delicious as well. The lunch special came with a little bread as well. If I came back, I'd order something else, but there was plenty that I would want. read more

Dear reviewers I misinterpreted the dish I thought I was ordering from the menu on yesterday and gave a bad review. I thought I was ordering a Butter Shrimp dish which was actually called the Butter Marsala w/shrimp. But I mistakenly chosen the Makhni w/shrimp. This dish did not come with the ingredients I wanted. The Manager contacted me and asked that I return so he could redo my order as a courtesy for the mistake I made. Also, I would like to thank the owner and staff of Bollywood for great customer service and to let them know my Butter Masala is delicious. Given stained glassware with water inside. The chai tea was nasty. A group of people at my table asked for several items only to be ignored. Individual enters were ordered but we had to share rice? And our group of 6 had to share one naan bread even after asking for 3? They also hover over you to see if you'll give a tip. Place has gone down hill. This place is right on our way to our vacation house. There are no Indian restaurants near our vacation house in the Chesapeake so I mostly stop here to grab some really good Indian food. Most of the food in their menu is North Indian food. We have tried chicken 65, chilly chicken, samosa, sev puri and aloo tiki chaat for appetizers. They are all very delicious and authentic. They have nice combination of vegetarian and meat options. For entrees, we have had lamb biryani, chicken biryani, madras chicken curry with assortment of naans. Liked them all. I am always in a dilemma whenever I go there as I like so many of their dishes. Service and ambiance is great. You're always greeted with a smile and they also recommend some good stuff if you're new to Indian cuisine. Do try some local Indian beer. You don't find Indian beers in other places. read more

Bollywood Masala - La Plata is a favorite, especially for the amazing Saturday AYCE India buffet from 11 - 2pm. Perhaps 8 main dishes plus all the side accompaniments. It even includes hot naan, several desserts, and mango lassi and chai tea. So good! I'd give them 6 stars if I could. Food, Ambience, and Service staff are all excellent, too! I believe it comes to about $20 per person. Worth every penny. You will be amazed! read more

Above and Beyond !! I've been wanting Indian food for a while now... but there isn't a place super close that I can order from. Babe mentioned this place a while ago and we said we need to try it out. So the day finally came when I would satisfy my Indian food craving and we try this gem out! When we walked in we were greeted immediately and sat - we came later in the evening about 50 mins to closing time because we were coming from far away. Everyone was so nice from the start to the finish of the meal- even the people cleaning. We ordered chicken samosa for appetizer. It was really good... it started the meal off right! Then for our main course we ordered chicken tikka masala and chicken saag with garlic butter naan and basmati rice. For beverage I ordered mango lassi (non alcohol) and babe ordered something like an Indian tea old fashion. The ambiance was cute and clean. A cozy establishment! Montee, our server was kind, polite, and super attentive. He told us to take our time and relax (he thought we were rushing because they were closing soon). We were a little bit, but also we were full.. it was so much delicious food!! Montee wrapped our food for us and also gave me a Mango Lassi to go because I was too stuffed to actually drink all of mine. I definitely recommend trying Bollywood Masala if you're in the La Plata/Waldorf area because the food is so good and the service is top notch! Monte said he can't wait to see us next time and we can try a few other things on the menu. Also I think its worth mentioning- their interaction with other customers was awesome...it felt like they knew each other/regulars. There was a sense of warmth. While the website still says they offer lunch buffet during the week, it's apparently only Saturday... would highly recommend updating that info. While disappointed to not have that option on a Friday driving there 30 minutes.. the choice of a delicious lunch special worked out well. You get a large plate with rice, a main option of your choice, a vegetable of the day and veggie pakora, with chutney for dipping. Everything was delicious. Service was quick and attentive. This food was great! I went with a few friends for the first time. This restaurant is located in a shopping center- with a small storefront. It was a bit spacier than I thought with plenty of seating. I hadn't tried it before but my friends raved about it. I had the butter salmon and a cocktail. The drink was on the weaker side, but the food! The salmon melted in my mouth and paired well with the naan. I want to go back as it was so many things on the menu I've never had. Bollywood is my favorite Indian restaurant in the Tri-States i never have a bad dish from the buffet to the entree. However my go to dish is butter chicken, the level of the spiciness can be adjusted accordingly to the customers taste; we go there once a month and we LOVE it! They survived the pandemic and last night (1/27/23) the place was packed, thanks goodness we ordered to go. We ordered butter chicken with garlic naan: the chicken was tender, juicy, buttery, full of flavors; naan was garlicky, a bit chewy; and flaky. The food is delicious, the owner; and staffs are super friendly! I hope they will be in business FOREVER! read more

Great Restaurant-- My After Vaccine Celebration Place Last week was a Hindu Holiday and also my vaccination appointment fell on the same day. My partner graciously offer to accompany me to my appointment. Afterwards, we decided to eat At Bollywood Masala, as he was only eating vegetarian that day out of deference to his religion. So glad we decided on this place, the place was tastefully decorated with Bollywood Posters on the wall and Old Bollywood pictures were used as placemats. They offer indoor and outdoor dining. We decided to wait to eat, as there were a fair amount of people already eating at the restaurant. That's a testament to how good their food taste. We order a lunch special, which was vegetarian and came with rice, a main dish two sides and a naan bread. The food was pure deliciousness. It had great flavor, the naan was a generous portion and buttery goodness. I'm so glad we order an extra naan. This place is in a low key place and is probably a hidden gem of Waldorf, Maryland. When I'm in that side of town, I won't hesitate to eat here again. read more

Service here is pretty incredible. Had a mixed drink. Was pretty good. Got a house curry at a spice level 5. Definitely hurt me but was very tasty. Got some chili-flavored appetizer (super spicy), and it was delicious. All of the food was very good. My only qualm is that all of this was rather pricy when everything was said and done. I stopped in for lunch today and was really impressed! I loved how the menu was clearly marked to show which meals had which allergens. The service was fast, and our waiter was very helpful in describing the level of heat to our dishes. My friend and I each ordered the lunch special, which came with SO MUCH delicious food! We've been to BWM before the pandemic and ate in. They are 100% carry out now like all other restaurants in MD. The food is just as good. The biggest difference is not getting the table-side menu advice to improve your food selection. I could have called I suppose. I used the online YELP payment service to order and pay. That was easy and felt safer-health wise. Then it's dash in/out when you go to pick it up. Next time though, I'll phone in because I still need some help ordering Indian food. I think talking to them will avoid a few mistakes I made ordering. If you're tired of cooking and eating your own food like I am, this is a very tasty alternative. It can even be healthy if you don't get carried away like we did. Don't forget to tip well if you can afford to. Support our local merchants so we aren't left with franchise eating establishments after this crisis is over. read more

If you love Indian food, Bollywood Masala is the place to go in Waldorf! If you are unsure, give it a whirl because the staff here is very friendly and make great recommendations based upon your preferences. My favorite is the Bollywood Special with salmon at medium heat. Their naan is so pillowy soft and the jalapeño infused margarita is my fav! They also have a buffet on the weekends. From an ambiance perspective, it's got a local family friendly vibe. Sometimes the service can be too attentive, interrupting conversation, but I have found letting them know you will look for them if you need assistance after the food arrives does the trick. The host was so kind and friendly and attentive. My party got a cornucopia of dishes so we all had something slightly different. Appetizers: Naans galore, Aloo, Butter, Paneer, and plain. They were a little thin, good overall. Veggie Samosas, Tandori Chicken wings. The Mango Lassi was as it should be, sweet thick and smooth. The entrées were all delightful from my Lamb Vindaloo, Chicken and Shrimp Tandori kabob, Butter Chicken. What I enjoyed most was the varying levels of spice. I usually don't go out for Indian food, but it was my sister's birthday, and that's what she wanted. We ordered a mango lassi, lamb rogan josh, and an eggplant dish I can't remember the name of with side of Naan. Everything we had was incredible. The mango lassi was so creamy and not like any other I've had, the lamb was tender and flavorful with a nice kick, and the eggplant dish was so yummy. Thoroughly enjoy this place and it's food! We've ordered from here many times during quarantine, and it always makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside, especially during the past few colder months. We've tried the following: Mango lassi, Samosas, chicken tikka masala, chicken Korma, chicken vindaloo, naan, and chili garlic naan. All gravy entrees come with a side of white rice. Mango lassi's are delicious! It's a sweet yet tart yogurt drink. Highly recommend if you don't have dairy restrictions and like mango! They have other flavors as well, but I haven't tried those yet. Samosas are good. We got the traditional vegetable ones where it is stuffed with potatoes and peas that are seasoned in Indian spices. Thing of a savory, stuffed pastry. Or better yet, and "Indian empanada". Chicken tikka masala is always great here. The chicken korma is okay, not my favorite, but still good. I would just choose the tikka masala flavor over it at this particular restaurant. The chicken vindaloo is very flavorful and delicious! I don't think there is much, if any dairy in this dish, so if it's you're first time ordering it, just keep in mind it is not a creamy consistency like a tikka masala or Korma would be. The chili garlic naan was soooo good--but it has a serious kick. So if spicy is not your thing, stick to the buttered naan! read more
