Took my Smith & Wesson 586 4 inch to Bolsa a few months ago to have it worked on. Needless to say thatWhen I got it back it fired five rounds and the hammer stop working. I was very upset. I called Bolsa and they didn't seem like they too much cared. I started getting excuses and I didn't too much care for that either. I sent my revolver to Smith and Wesson factory and I am totally confident that they will take care of it. Surprised to find out that Bolsa is supposedly a Smith and Wesson warranty station. Amazing! They have lost a good customer and now I think that everything that they have done from mounting and torquing scopes to everything else firearms related needs to be rechecked because if I had relied on my 586 to save my life it would have failed! I sent my Baretta M9A3 in for warranty work because of an apparent crack in the slide below the right safety lever in the half-moon cutout area. I received a call from Bolsa on May 23rd and they stated that my "crack" was actually machining marks, and not a failure of the firearm or material... Are you kidding me??? As a fighter mechanic, I know what material failure - a crack is. They assured me that they contacted Baretta themselves and a Baretta machinist stated that it wasn't a crack but rather machine marks. I truly don't believe that this is true as I've shot M9 for over 24 years of military service. Awaiting a call back from Baretta themselves to hear what they have to say... Not the experience I was hoping for. read more

If you want to cerakote your pistol slide, do not go to bolsa gunsmithing. Price gouging at best. The place they send off for cerakote only charges $50. Bolsa charges $125. That is a difference of $75. I figured the difference amount would be gunsmithing fee but the cerakote place does not charge a disassembly fee. So where does the extra $75 goes to? So I would think the price would include shipping cost. Nope, they had the decency to charge extra for shipping. In the end it almost cost as much to get the entire pistol to be cerakoted. I knew they were asking too much but I would of never realized the extra fees piled on top. For work that they never do themselves, they seem to charge alot for no apparent reason. Go somewhere else. read more

I debated whether I was going to leave this review, but in the end I felt it best to do so. The reason I debated leaving it is for two reasons: (1) because of the timeframe, which is, I believe 6-7 years ago that Bolsa worked on two of my rifles, a .30 '06 hunting rifle and a Browning .22. (2) In fairness, due to the timeframe and because of my irritation with my .30 '06 not being safe to fire due to their error, I did not give Bolsa the chance to correct their errors. However, after consideration of how easily another gunsmith (David at TrueZero) took care of the concerns in an expedient manner and an affordable option, making my guns safe again, I felt it my duty to leave my review. For my .30 '06 Bolsa several months to change the barrel, replace the rubber shoulder pad, add a scope, and re-blue the rifle. I was patient with the time, but I thought it was awful long. My main concern, as always, was that it'd be safe to fire. I asked them to go over it and to make sure everything was good to go and safe to fire. Between then and now I had the rifle stored. I went to shoot it a couple months ago for the first time. First shot and the plate under the rifle, where the ammunition is loaded, blew off, throwing 4 rounds of unfired ammo all about. I replaced the plate, thought maybe it hadn't been latched properly and attempted again. First shot fine, second shot, blew the plate out and an unspent round came shooting out again! I stopped shooting that rifle immediately after that now knowing something was wrong. It turned out to have two incorrect parts on the latch to that plate. My new gunsmith, TrueZero, not only replaced the parts, but also, as I would hope of anyone working on my guns, test fired it and confirmed it was corrected and safe to fire. With my .22, I brought that into Bolsa at the same time as my other rifle. It was in two pieces due to a friend of mine saying how easy these Browning's are to work on and he took the barrel off and couldn't get it back on. After I had a go at it a few times, I realized it was more than I wanted to deal with and I would rather have an expert put it back together and to ensure it safe to fire. Bolsa got this back to me quick, about a week, although I was surprised they weren't able to just put it back together there on the spot. But, so be it, I prefer it to be done right, safely and test fired. When I went to shoot this .22 for the first time since Bolsa had it, every second to third round would jam before sliding into the chamber. Again, David at TrueZero heard what I was saying and knew the problem. At first he was telling me how to fix it, telling me how to take the rifle apart and adjust the "headspace." I let him know my previous problem that I couldn't get it back together (which I hated to admit). So he took it, with a grin, and fixed the issue and let me know he test fired it, how he fired it, how many rounds he plinked through it and what types of rounds he used without duplication of the problem after the adjustment. So the reason for my low review is that the only two rifles I've taken to Bolsa were returned to me later than I thought, both had problems still, and one was unsafe to fire. The last point being my biggest concern. I had waited to shoot these rifles until I went shooting with a buddy in Colorado. That's a long way to go for three unsafely fired rounds on my .30 '06. The .22 got shot more, but was very frustrating due to the jamming problem that should have been seen in a round of test firing. read more

had a Law Tactical folder that needed removing, problem is the included tool from Law Tactical is supposed to bend and deflect when the right torque is reached during install. couldn't remove the unit w/ this because it was bending. Armorer's wrench not design with long enough teeth to remove either, so they sell a special tool from Law Tac for $$.... called Bolsa they said come down we have a custom tool that will work for this as well. took em 5 min!! saved me $$ from buying the part and most importantly like weeks of shipping time. thanks again. read more

I bought a "new" S&W 357 magnum from nearby Turner's that somehow had a broken sight. I was referred to Bolsa as they were the authorized warranty center. First they wanted to charge me $30 for the repair, not counting the cost of the sight. When I said, "What cost? It's supposed to be under warranty.", they promptly asked me to leave. They had a real bad attitude too. I don't want to directly accuse someone of racism but I can't understand why else they were acting the way they did. I called S&W to complain, they apologized and added that Bolsa's actions were completely inexcusable. read more

This place came highly recommended from a buddy of mine...which is why I drove an hour to drop a weapon off for repair. Walked in...talked with employee.. was about to leave weapon for repair...walked out. 1)this is a super small place...only two guys working when I walked in...one of the first thing guy tells me is that they get fifty guns dropped off everyday so its gonna be minimum 4 week turnaround (strike 1) 2)guy hints to me that it could me an issue with using reloads....after I mention that its jamming on the feed ramp using factory or reloads - I'm prior military and law enforcement I've put thousands of rounds through various weapons including reloads...and unless you buy poor quality reloads....thats almost never the issue - this type of gunsmith is like the computer repairman that asks if you have tried turning the computer/laptop/machine off...then on (strike 2) 3)the general perception I got from this place is that they are so content with pre-existing business...or so swamped and backlogged or busy with the repairs they already have....that they don't want or need new business (strike 3) read more

Bolsa Gunsmithing is the local Beretta authorized service center and appears to be run by people who don't feel any need to cultivate new customer relationships. They charged me $100 and took three weeks to install night sights and a laser on my PX4, apparently because I bought the hardware elsewhere. They told me if I had bought the sights from them, they would have done the job by the next day. The first time out on the range with my Bolsa gunsmithed PX4, the screw securing the laser sight to my pistol fell out after less than 30 rounds fired. read more

I purchased a new stainless steel handgun and I took it to Bolsa Gunsmithing to smooth the trigger action and change the sights, but they put multiple scratched on the gun when apparently replacing the sights, and they did not fix or compensate me for the damage, but I did still have to pay full price for the horrible work done. read more

Horrible experience. I had to pay $110 more than they had quoted me to machine a rifle barrel. They never notified me of any extra increase. Tool markings lift all over the place. The barrels black oxide coating was scratched off and the muzzle break was not lined up (timed) correctly. I can only give 3 stars at this time. I took 1 of my AR15 uppers in this morning to get some work done. When I walked into the shop, the staff was friendly and accomodating enough. But when I pulled out my upper, they immediatly said they cannot do any work on it. The reason they gave me was the owner doesn't want their shop to work on "black rifles". Which is fine and I respect them telling me that. But I do give the staff props for being pleasent about it. read more

Took in a S&W Sigma 9mm I purchased from a private party as it had a light strike and not fire 10 percent of the time. It took weeks and I had to call to see if it was done. It worked well for about 100 rounds. Took to a different smith who diagnosed the problem in 30 seconds. Previous owner had modified it to make a lighter pull, it needed to be restored to the original pull! This should have been obvious to the smith at Bolsa. Very disappointed. read more

Picked up my 92fs ss had my trigger adjusted been flawless 4+ years will come back again

My uncle has been coming here for a while to service his guns and recommended it to me. I actually found out when I got there (after asking and looking at the various Beretta models on display) that they were a Certified Beretta Service center. Perfect, cuz I have a Beretta that needed some attention! I had just bought a 92A1, which after a visit to the range, I realized had a really really heavy double action trigger pull (at least it's heavy for me... hey, I'm a girl). On top of that, when I was at the range, I had also let some helpful guy look at my gun, who decided it needed more oil to fix the jamming problem. (A lot more oil apparently, cuz after that every time I dry-fired, there were tiny specks of oil flying everywhere. Thank you anyway helpful guy at the range, because you were really nice and just trying to help!) So I told the [really amicable] guy standing behind the front counter at Bolsa Gunsmithing my problem, and he told me they'd fix the trigger pull and clean the gun for me. 1 month later when I got my gun back, it was squeaky clean and properly oiled, and I can now pull the trigger without having to use incorrect firing techniques (as in, trying to squeeze the trigger with two fingers)! All for around a hundred bucks. Woo!! read more

I've had several guns worked on here now and have always felt they did quality work at reasonable prices. Their wait time is not nearly as bad as if you were to send your gun out to one of the big name custom shops (i.e. Robar, Springfield Custom...), which could take months, and they may not offer as many options as those other shops do but the fact that they're local more than makes up for that in my humble opinion. However people still need to understand that a lead time will always exist particularly for services in high demand with few to provide them. The fact that these guys are the factory authorized service center for several large gun companies should speak anough of their qualifications. read more

I brought my Winchester shotgun in for repair. Jason at the counter, looked at it then took it into the back. About 5 minutes later, Jason brought my shotgun out, totally repaired! Cost? This is for their gun smiting service. Great honest service with their honest opinion. Had to take my Enfield Deer Hunting Rifle to get it evaluated to see why the shells are not ejecting after firing. I had it "deep detailed cleaning" at another who did not clean it at all and gummed it up and charge me $130 to "clean it". While Bolsa Gun Smithing recleaned and test fired it for under $65. I've bought a couple shotguns here over the years and prices and service was good. Recently, my Remington 1100 stopped ejecting the shell after firing. I brought it to my friends shop in anaheim and they advised me I needed a new "ring" or something like that, bought one, installed and of course it didn't fix the issue. So I brought it back to Bolsa and they replaced the actual broken part. Don't waste your time at other gun stores like I did. read more

Dropped off a rifle for repair, told two weeks. Called at the two week point and told another "two week." I then called after another two weeks and requested a return call with the status. Received a call several hours later stating that my gun was first in line and would be finished by the end of the day. They then asked if I would be interested in having a muzzle brake installed, something we talked about when I dropped if off. I asked him about the turn around time and of course, "another two weeks.". I stated that the rifle already missed the first hunt and opted to just have the repair completed to which the gentleman explained my rifle was first in line and would be finished that day without the muzzle brake. I stopped by at 2:30 as I happened to be in the area and they had not even looked at it. The arrogant worker behind the desk chastised me for believing that any work would be done within two weeks and "who did I talk to." I collected the gun and will send out of area to a precision rifle builder. The customer service at this location is an epic fail, likely the worst I have seen at any location. When we discussed installing a muzzle brake the price was $230, expensive but understood if that included the brake. When he itemized the bill the $75 brake was actually $230 and labor was free which of course means more tax than necessary. While they claim first in and first out my lower budget repair seemed to take back seat compared to everything else. Only if I was willing to accept more charges and work would the rifle be complete in "another two weeks." With companies like Turners, Rifle Gear, Ammo Brothers, Quantico Tactical and even Dick's, it is an amazement that this company even exists. Once the mad rush ends they will be left with an alienated but well compensated former customer base that have moved on to greener pastures. Engage at your own risk. read more

Had a Remington 700 action I brought to them for re-barrel and to have the action trued up. They did a flawless job! I took out the gun today.... It's consistently getting 1/2 moa 5 shot groups. It is a .223, with a match chamber. I shot black hills match 69gr smk's... Even with the crazy variable winds, the worst group was still sub moa. They were quick and the work was excellent! I'd recommend them to anyone. read more

I recently purchased a fiber optic front sight and an adjustable rear for my Beretta PX4. And just like every gun owners with a little bit of know how, I've also purchased a universal sight pusher and attempted to replace the sights myself. It seem easy enough with all the you tube tutorials out there! But before I end up destroying my gun, I finally decided to call my local gunsmith. I live around Rancho Cucamonga and every gunsmith I've called seems to not have the proper equipment to work on beretta handguns, or a long wait to get my gun worked on, or they were charging an arm and a leg for such a job! To make my long story short.... I end up driving 45mins to Bolsa and got my gun sight replaced. It took their gunsmith about 20mins to get it done and the price was fairly low. This place is certified Beretta gunsmith and gun retailer. So, if you need any work done on your Beretta...take it to this shop. You will not be disappointed! read more
