Stopped in Bolsa Gunsmithing for the first time on 7/16 to have them replace the front sight on my Walther P38. I don't know why Ive never stopped by before but this shop is really nice. Staff was super friendly and helpful. The front sight was replaced in about an hour and it was perfect. Bolsa Gunsmithing has been there for years but until now I never needed any work done. I didn't realize they had such a nice selection of firearms for sale. I looked at a Beretta 92 Brigadier, of which they had four in stock. Pricing was spot on; cheaper than trying to deal with gun broker. When they get the stainless steel version back in stock I will definitely be buying from them. Thought I had done a review here but I guess at the time I had forgotten. So hear it is... I had a damaged Browning over/under shotgun barrel which had been damaged beyond repair. As a Browning authorized repair shop, I decided to take my shotgun here. Upon dropping off, I was giving a range of what it will cost to have a new barrel installed. Turns out, Browning required that the entire gun be sent to the factory for proper fitting and installation ( they would not ship a barrel to Bolsa). Talking direct to the factory How's the work was being done keeping tabs, I learned how much it was going to be Which was at the lower end of the range given by Bolsa. When the repaired shotgun returned to Bolsa for pickup, Bolsa tried to charge me at the high end as if they had done the labor. After confronting them with their dishonesty, they agreed to only charge me for the part, shipping, and sales tax, about 2/3 of what they tried to charge me). While I've spent thousands on rifles and accessories previously and never had a problem, this incident really irritated me sent a clear message that you really have to be on top of them and what you're being charged for. DO NOT TAKE YOUR GUN HERE. THIS WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. I ALMOST WENT TO THE RANGE WITH A LOOSE BARREL. Last week, (5/18) Riflegear referred me to Bolsa Gunsmithing to help assemble my AR upper. I promptly called and asked for a quote, to which I was quoted about $60 with a 1 week turnaround time. I arrived later that day and dropped off my parts and was quoted a 1.5 week turnaround time, the price didn't change but since I needed some additional parts- I knew the price would increase. I was in the area on 5/27 and called in case my upper was finished. The male rep informed me that I had a part on order and it would take a couple more days and to call back on 5/29 if I heard nothing. 5/29/2020. I called and Wendy picked up. I asked about my upper, she chuckled a bit and told me the turnaround time was 2.5 weeks. We went back and forth a bit and she told me that she was able to convince one of the gunsmiths to take care of the upper. I received a call a little under an hour later that my upper was finished. I was absolutely ecstatic. I drove down, picked up my upper with additional parts installed. Upon getting home, I realized that the upper was loosely built, the rail I just paid to have installed had play and would twist. The barrel also has some play. I REALLY wanted to like Bolsa Gunsmithing but I'm pretty disappointed with this first experience. I will add that the simple parts (muzzle brake and gas block) are installed correctly. Sorry for the lengthy review, but I hope it helps you guys make an appropriate decision. Update 6-24-2020 I have been trying to call and their answering machine hasn't been set up. I've been visiting Bolsa Gunsmithing for the last 7 years, and have only good things to say about their service as a local gun store that has helped me out multiple times with light gunsmithing services like sight installation or diagnosing problems. Turnaround times have been good even during the COVID-19 pandemic and once they even helped remove a very stubborn front sight free of charge. I didn't have to ask for that and they easily could have charged me so it made a good impression. Prices for accessories are also reasonable for a small local shop. Note that their fees for installing accessories purchased there are low or free, but customer-supplied accessories will have a higher fee which can be substantial. This is to be expected, but in my experience it adds up to about the same cost out of pocket in the end. I've only had relatively simple work done here as I lack space for a work bench at home, so at this time I have no opinion on difficult or sophisticated repairs. I always recommend you do your due diligence before committing to have major work done anywhere. read more

Not impressed... asked for a quote to Cerakote a pistol. Pretty easy to do..and submitted a picture.. but no accurate price was given., and way too many questions... I thought I was the business for a second there, as Bolsa Gunsmithing was asking me all the questions. To me it's a red flag!! I have used their services many times and the bill is always lower than I expect. A couple of times they have done repairs for free. I just replaced my broken red dot sight and they reinstalled it for free. There was a 4 week wait, but when they learned they did the original mounting, they said they would try to get it to me in a couple of days. 8:30 am the next morning they called and told me my gun was ready for pickup! This review is based on the problem my M and P 9c. Take down lever was not staying down but instead flip back up. Brought it in and they fix it Turn around time about a week if I'm not mistaken. Now is much easier to dissemble firearm now that take down lever stays down. read more

Bolsa gunsmitthing is probably the best gun smithing service in Orange County. They do have long lead time but it was worth the wait. My Remington 700 in 308 was having extraction issues with the bolt being stuck after every shot and I basically have to man handle the bolt to yank the empty casing out. So Bolsa gunsmith took care of it. I also asked them if they can do quick bedding and they helped me with that as well, so now my group has improved significantly with cheap ammo, by cheap I mean the hornady American hunter so it's not garbage but still. Also they are the one that can worked on expensive rifles such as Sako Trg since some of the smith at my local range won't have the skill and necessary tool properly rebarrel Sako and Even Tikka for that matter, tikka owner can testify, it is not as easy as Remington with prefit barrels. Support local business support Bolsa gunsmith. But they do get lots of business and will have longer lead time, so be patient. It is worth it. read more

I have been debating for about a week now where to go to purchase my very first hand gun. I did some research and decided on a glock 19. I finally came across bolsa gunsmiting. After reading all the great yelp reviews I decided to stop by. Right when I walked in I was greeted right away by Jason with a big warm smile. I already felt at ease and not pressured at all. I told him what I wanted and Jason was patient and showed me my options and answered any questions I had. Paper work was a piece of cake. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. Probably could of been out of the door with in 15 minutes but I was memorized by all the guns and took so many pictures of my soon to be my very first glock. They offer a cash or debit card discount. Its about 3% total before tax. Basically the credit card company charges about 3% per transaction so if you pay cash or debit they pass those savings to you. I have looked at other gun shops and the glock 19 is just about $550-$600 everywhere else. I'll see you guys in 10 days. I can't wait! read more

Foreword: I have no experience with the gunsmithing services offered here, so my review will strictly be for the sales part of the shop. The store does not have the most diverse and extensive selection of firearms. It seemed like damn near all the long guns on display were "sporting" rifles and shotguns. There seemed to be very few (if any) long gun options that were suitable for defensive/social applications. Their handgun selection seemed to be a bit better, I have seen some very nice and uncommon pieces for sale here, both modern and classic. Examples include the FN Five-Seven, Colt 1903 Pocket Hammerless .32, Nagant M1895 revolver, Colt Python 2.5" bbl (blued), etc. The prices I saw during my visits did not appear to be unreasonable. I've had very mixed experiences with the staff here. The dude with the southern accent (I think it was Jason N.) is literally the friendliest gun shop salesman I have ever met in my life, I cannot say a single bad word about him - he is really a *super* cool dude. Some of the other staff members I've encountered here ... not so much. Bolsa Gunsmithing should be grateful that they have Jason on their team - he is the *only* reason I gave this shop 4 stars instead of 3. The parking lot seems spacious, I've always been able to get a spot in front during my visits. read more

I only use this place to bore sight my rifles(Note: its plural because I went here a few times). It was horrible, they charged me $15 to do something for 10sec. yeah, I paid the $15 and hitted the target at 100 yard with the1st shot and yes I was happy with everything, but still the bore sight should be done for free. I've been a firearms instructor for years and very picky on who works on my guns. I haven't had much luck here in the Inland Empire so I searched beyond. I found Bolsa Gunsmithing on line and though they were in Westminster, I took a chance based on their reviews. I had an RMR cut done on my 34 and though they said it could take up to 3-4 weeks, I had it done within 1.5 weeks! The cut was perfect and service was great! Highly recommended! Just bought another handgun from Bolsa, FN 5.7 x 28 semi auto. John, the gunsmith did his normal good work on the 5.7 and tuned it to my standard set of options. Most important was that he reduced the trigger pull to a little over 4 pounds which he has done to all of my semi autos. I don't fire a new handgun until john has performed his magic.
