Tried Bomba Bar for the first time tonight and it was absolutely delicious! We started with a quesco dip, fresh salsa, and chips. My husband and I both picked 3 tacos but the Libre tacos as our absolute fav! Our kids both got kids meals which came with everything even church's for desert. New spot that just opened up and heard good things about it. The place was pretty tiny but has a very nice interior with the bar on the side and all. So I had 6 tacos and they were pretty good but not the best tacos I've ever had. I didnt order any drinks but they have a lot of options to choose from. As for the dessert, the churros with the chocolate and marshmallow dip was absolutely amazing. My favorite tacos from this place was the yard bird, Baja shrimp and the Korean surf n turf. Opened on 2/18 and I was there on 2/19 with a friend eating at the bar. Since this is a newly opened place the hype was high and the wait times for tables were anywhere from 1 hour to 2.5 hours. They did not take reservations but took names on a list and texted when the table was ready. So, if you plan on going during prime hours, and you are local, have someone come there first and put their name on the list, then take your time arriving. We were told 1.5-2 hours wait time for a table for 2 when we arrived at 6:30pm on a Saturday night. So, we decided to hang out for a few drinks at the bar and see how it goes. As expected, the bar was full with no seating and folks were having their meals at the bar. When two seats opened up, we grabbed them and decided to eat at the bar. The drink offerings here are very good. There are a sufficient number of tequilas to choose from as well as what looked like plenty of whiskeys. I really didn't dig deep into the offerings since I was going to have tequila but noticed Elijah Craig bottled on display. The wines are minimal, but they have the basics. The drafts are minimal too. When I asked why that was, the bartender explained that they were not permitted to compete with Ironhill Brewery next door, so they had to minimize their offerings. I did see a bunch of drafts on the list, so it's not like they don't have beers here. My margarita was very nicely balanced. I had mine with Hornitos reposado, and it had the slightly heavier body I like in my tequila drinks. Bartender also adjusted the salt on the rim for me. Overall, I really enjoyed my drink here. We had the following food: - Cauliflower Wings - deep fried, very nicely spicy - would definitely order again. - Guacamole - chips were greats, guac was on the smoother side (not chunky), mixed with cheese on top - it was OK, but I have had much better. Tacos (you order by the taco with about 10 various choices) - Ahi tuna taco - Was disappointed by this one. The cut of the fish was sporadic and unpleasant to me. Perhaps it was intentional, but it did not eat well. The mixture of the other items did not blend well, and it tasted like bland raw tuna in a soft wrap. I think if they do more of a tar tar with smaller more consistent cuts, mix/integrate the ingredients together, it would be a much more successful dish. - Nashville Hot Chicken Taco - This was decent. It's served with a larger crispy tortilla inside a soft taco. I would order it again. - Brussels Sprout Taco - This was great. The ingredients were cut into a size where they can integrate with every bit. I was very well done, and I could order just these and be very happy next time. The ambiance was great due to the mix of interior design and lively crowd. The interior is clean and modern without being overly dainty. The bar staff was great working as a team and always checking in to see if another drink was needed or asking how to food was. The usable bar itself was too small for the space in my opinion. However, when the weather gets better, they will open their outdoor space and the side of the bar facing the outdoor space so it should alleviate the lack of bar seats I felt last night. Overall, a clean, fun, and worthwhile casual space great for everyone. At this time, I would not go with a large group since it seems like it would be a hassle to get a table. Wait till things calm down. 100% will be back here. read more

OK. We know it's opening weekend so we are showing grace and prefacing that before the review. I'm sure they're working out kinks, but even with that said I don't think I'd come back. We had a party of 6 and waited ALMOST 2 hours for a table. I wish I was being dramatic, but I'm not I even double checked my texts from the waitlist - checked in at 1:30 and seating at 3:15. (Thank god there is an Ulta and Lulu around that we shopped around at). We also got some drinks and guac at the bar. The staff was hit or miss - our bartender at the bar was a gem and so was our waitress! The hostesses were in outer space and mostly rude. Once seated it took ~45 minutes for our food to come. Margaritas were okay and food was blah. You'd hope that if the service is shotty that the food would be good or vice versa but both were a miss. Tacos we liked: -gringo -Baja shrimp -Nashville hot chicken -tuna poke Tacos that we didn't like: -chicken - dry -smoky pig - dry We also got fries and Brussels, both meh. When you're at an establishment for cumulatively 4 hours it's just an exhausting experience. A side note we got 16 tacos and there was a taco ten pack for cheaper but the waitress told us NOT to order it because it would've taken longer??? Longer than 45 minutes? Also bizarre. That didn't sit right with me. Don't have it on the menu if you're going to tell us not to get it. It would've saved us money. My first time here and I had to say I was pleasantly surprised with not only how fast the food service was but also with the quality and flavor of the food. My husband and father in-law went along with my toddler on a Friday night and had a great experience. We ordered the 3 special tacos, a cuban sandwich, black bean soup, yuca fries and a chicken quesadilla with guac+ chips for my toddler. Everything was delish! We have had dinner here twice and both times the food was great! The service has been courteous and thoughtful. Coincidentally, we had the same server, Bella, both times who is extremely personable. Back to Bomba after a while. Short version, it lost its way. I have to put this in context. I love the idea of Bomba. When I saw bomba was coming I was excited. When I first went to Bomba it was cool. Sort of good tacos and really good drinks. Well it changed. Service is fantastic, bar staff are wonderful. But . . . Drinks are average. Weaker, formulaic. They have been diluted. It's a low cost formula. The Rita's are now average, where they were once awesome. They still have a premium price, just not the content. This is challenging. Chips come now with salsa and queso in plastic tubs. Not China. Not reusable. No point having biodegradable straws in my Rita if my queso and salsa is in single use plastic. And it sends a certain 'we can't be bothered to serve you' pop the top off the mass produced slop, pop it in a microwave and you all good' vibe. It literally looks like they run to mcaffrey's for the dips, pop off the top and that's your salsa. Tacos were awful. Inedible. They now have a bed of cabbage in every taco. The menu doesn't say this. I don't like slaw or cabbage. Especially with hot meat because it throws water. So 3 tacos heated on cabbage with flour tacos in a metal tray and you pick up slime with slime. Wet tacos. Wet flour tacos. It's reflected in the bar crowd. It used to be a place to be, hang out, meet people. You waited, fought, positioned for a seat. No worries now, you can get a seat. It's all first dates trying somewhere new and my I need a bar with the baseball on scene. So sad. So disappointed. Bomba could be fantastic. It's become awful, through a series of cuts and nicks and changes that just make it unpleasant. That's why it's half empty. We won't be back. It's an extra star for the lovely staff. We went back to Bomba and ordered a ten taco family pack and the queso with chorizo and poblanos and we were very, very happy with our meal. We had a couple of cocktails that were pretty good, too, but the real stars were the queso and the Libre tacos. Delicious. I also really loved the seasonal fish taco and my BF was a big fan of the Vietnamese meatball taco. All in all, it's worth a visit... every week. Haha. Came in for a late lunch on a Wednesday. Was seated promptly and greeted by server promptly who was very nice and attentive throughout our meal. Ordered cocktails and apps and they were delivered to our table very fast. I got the superior margarita it was okay kind of too sweet like there wasn't a lot of tequila but that is as to be expected at chain restaurants. Husband got the pineapple mule again good but of all mules we have had that was the most ginger beer forward (despite it supposing to have pineapple) probably because not a lot of liquor. My daughter the el gringo and smoked piggy, I the Korean surf and turf and the Baja shrimp and my husband the Tijuana Tommy, Vietnamese meatball and lucha libre. We all shared small bites of tacos so we could try the differing flavors. The smoked piggy, Lucha libre and Vietnamese meatball were the best. Mine were one note and many of the tacos were too liquidy. All in all tacos just didn't hit. Ordered bomba fries and plantains on side. Fries were for my daughter they were okay and the plantains were the highlight best of the meal. Loved them. We did get dessert which incorporated their churro waffles and it was a s'mores dessert and I was so perplexed by it. We get two big Marshmallows, hersheys chocolate on ice cream with waffle churro. I don't like eating marshmallows in their current form nor hersheys and for it to be a s'more they need to have some heat on them to melt them. This wasn't. So you don't get the true s'mores vibe. Plus the churro waffle just wasn't good. Their dessert menu sucks. All in all mid experience, this is definitely not authentic Mexican which it doesn't claim to be. Their menu has a modern fusion twist which could be nicer if executed more properly. I wouldn't go back though nothing wow'd me except the plantains. Great staff and nice ambiance though. read more

Went on taco Tuesday and didn't have tacos ...lol. I am trying to be good, but was meeting a friend and decided to have the Gulf Shrimp Bomba Bowl with riced cauliflower. The shrimp were perfectly seasoned, and the different vegetables in the bowl along with the seasoned cauliflower were so good. I definitely want to try their tacos, but this is a great option if you are trying to be somewhat healthy and don't necessarily want to get a salad. I also had a skinny margarita. I usually get skinny margarita's at other places and they are pretty comparable to a regular margarita for the most part...this one however was way more tart. Good, but just a tad sour for my taste. What a fantastic experience!! Walking in the ambience is welcoming and fun. The staff are super friendly, the hostess greeted us and made sure we were accommodated as requested. The menu looked so good, so many great choices to choose from. My friends and I built our own guacamole which had additions of goat cheese and corn, which tasted delicious. I got 3 tacos, el gringo ( ground beef), smoked piggy ( pulled pork), and carne Asada ( steak) and boy my taste buds were ignited. The food was absolutely delicious. The different sauces and variations they made for the tacos were right on the money. We've been here a number of times since they've opened and we really like it. You can order individual tacos so if you want to try different ones at one sitting, you can. The placemat menu tells you its a Pro Tip to order 3 or more. We find that with chips & a choice of dip, 2 tacos is plenty. They are well-stuffed - not skimpy at all. We've tried many of the taco choices and so far, they all have been very good. My favorites are the Magic Carpet Ride which has falafel, and the Korean Surf N Turf which has shrimp and bulgogi beef. If you're getting chip & dip for an appetizer you'll be served a healthy, bar-tray sized tin of crispy tortilla, plantains and malanga chips for dipping. We've tried several dips and we like the Spicy Peanut Salsa but if you have a nut allergy, you can try the Fire Roasted Tomato or Verde salsas which are also delicious. Also worth mentioning is how completely good the black bean soup is. Bomba has a full bar and happy hour with some discounted drinks and a small selection of discounted snacks. The screened porch seating is really cute, and it makes conversation much easier to hear than when you sit inside the main restaurant. The servers are very knowledgeable and friendly. Arrived on a Monday evening with my daughter. Seated promptly and the place wasn't too busy. Service was not good, but not terrible. Food was very good as were the drinks. The only downside of Monday was the "trivia guy." He brought this review down from a four star because he was not only over amplified, but annoying.
