Shahi Paneer, Butter Chicken, Garlic Naan Bread, Rice

Bombay Cafe is a little hidden gem for Indian food. I got a takeout order and I was impressed with the flavorfulness of both dishes. The service was very quick and seamless. I can now rest assured that I made a good decision on where to go for Indian food... Butter chicken-- Very mild and buttery taste with a slight kick of spices. Pairs really well with Raita and the jasmine rice. I recommend this dish and it was a hit for the family. Shahi paneer-- Excellent vegetarian dish with chunks of soft paneer in a tomatoe based shahi paneer sauce. I absolutely love this dish and thought they did a great job with the paneer consistency and shahi sauce flavor. Garlic naan and Samosa--Packed with garlic and great add on to the prior dishes. I recommend not getting this take out or at least toasting it more since it wasn't crunchy upon arrival. The samosa was everything you'd expect a good samosa to taste like. Not too dry either. Overall, great place. I would order from here again.

Good service. The good was well prepared the butter chicken was especially good. Very decent naan.

Simply put - this place is a fill in the blank when you are left with no choices. Food looks good but tastes very mediocre. The three dishes i got for carry out turned out to be just average. Only thing i like about this place are the samosas and quick service. Give it a shot when u run out of other choices.

Hands down best fresh samosas in the town. I have been coming to this place for long time and love their fresh piping hot samosas. Their tea is freshly made too and is not the one from machine. Their thali is good for the price. For around $9 you get two sabji, naan, rice and a sweet which is a steal.

Bombay Cafe is such a hidden restaurant in Fairfax! There were so many different options of curry to choose from, along with different desserts and sides that you can choose. I did the 'pick 2' which was around $10 and comes with rice, naan, and a dessert; I got the butter chicken and dal makhani which were pretty good, but the amount of curry to the rice/naan didn't really match up well. I wish their curry portions were a bit bigger. Other than that, it's a super homey restaurant, and the service was good!

The cafe itself is pretty run down and not maintained very well. It is a bit offputting when going through the cafiteria waiting line and sitting at uncleaned tables. The pictures of the food on the wall looked amazing so I choose one of the items to get from that and my friend had goat with curry. Everything purchased here is seperate so make sure to get rice or Nann if that is your jam. The somosa are on a hand written note saying that they are made to order so please be patient with the wait, it will be worth it (or something along those lines). I was excited for it. But my somosa came out cold and it def was not made to order but rather probably more along the lines of being under a faulty warming light.

The Butter Chicken also got rave reviews from my husband, who went with another friend. It is quiet, has some outdoor seating, the service is nearly fine-dining levels, and the food is delicious. Plump, tender shrimp swimming in a velvety tomato-cream sauce with real backbone -- that warm, layered heat that builds slow and lingers just long enough to make you reach for more. It's the kind of dish where the spice actually means something: cumin, coriander, a whisper of clove, and a chili kick that says the kitchen isn't playing it safe. We ordered it medium and it hit that perfect sweet spot where flavor and fire are in balance. The garlic naan was the ideal partner -- pillowy, blistered, and dripping with garlic, perfect for mopping up every last drop of that sauce (and trust me, you'll want to). The Chicken Hakka Noodles brought a totally different energy: smoky wok-tossed heat, springy noodles, and that savory Indo-Chinese punch with just enough chili to keep things interesting. Everything arrived hot, sealed tight, and right on time -- no leaks, no sad soggy containers, nothing lost in transit. Generous portions, free delivery, and food that tastes like it came straight off the stove. If you like your Indian food with genuine spice and soul, Bansari delivers. Literally. Highly recommend!

First of all, the service is impeccable; from the moment, I walked in, the host and manager were both so kind and hospitable in a way that felt natural, while also going above and beyond. And the decor: easily the most beautiful restaurant I have ever been in. Full stop. Just a fun experience, without even getting into food and drink. There isn't a bad seat in the restaurant, and I would even want to come sit at the fun bar. Ok, food and drink. I got a sangria, which was easily as good as any you would find in a Spanish restaurant--not too sweet. They have a fun "street food" appetizers section that isn't on most Indian menus--we got the dilli ki shaan, which were kind of like potato salad in a crispy shell? And for my main, I had the coconut machi curry with fish--omigod, it was so flavorful!! My mouth is watering just thinking about it. My friend got the mewa murg tikka, and I think that delicious, flavorful, savory, smokey chicken may have even been better than my dish. The habanero and cheese naans were also pretty good. I can't wait to go back, though my biggest challenge will be whether to order the same dish or try something new!

But two days ago I ordered online their lunch specials and some other items, and the 20% off coupon did not work, even though it was still featured on the website. The Lamb in the lamb saagwala and the goat in goat biryani and goat curry were tough--so tough that I knew they were just thrown in the dish without the long braise that is necessary to make lamb and goat tender. Even the tandoori wings had little of the expected taste. The bill for the lunch was $106 and they forgot to include the naan (that was supposed to be included in each luncheon special.) When I called later they refused to deliver the naan to our house (less than a half mile away) or issue a refund. After so many good experiences there (I have eaten there at least 50 times) I am so upset that I have to say that something is very wrong. New ownership? The one waitstaff was brand new, also. No one was eating there and there were no phone orders while I waited so they are not doing well. This is sad. Very sad.

The Bollywood music added to the atmosphere and made the whole experience feel even more fun. The restaurant was fairly busy when we visited, so I was pleasantly surprised by how fast the service was. We ordered the chili garlic noodles, ragda pattice (for the full Mumbai street food experience), date naan, and the paneer lababdar that was recommended by the staff. Every single dish was flavorful and delicious. The paneer lababdar was especially good, and the date naan was a pleasant surprise. The bathrooms were clean, parking was easy, and overall the experience was very comfortable. As for the service, the staff were perfectly polite and efficient, though not particularly warm or engaging. Nothing negative at all--just not the type of place where the staff goes out of their way to chat. That said, with food this good and a restaurant this busy, it hardly affected the experience. Overall, the food was absolutely the star of the show. If you're looking for flavorful Indian food in the area, Mumbai Central is definitely worth a visit.
