Buffet had many delicious choices
Lakota H.

Amazing friendly and attentive staff and the patrons were steady and friendly as well. Good people enjoying great food. The Buffet was so delicious! My first time through I took a little bit of everything just to check would I would like. EVERYTHING was so scrumptious and of course freshly made Naan ..

Straight out of India, but with courteous and caring customer service; delicious and good variety, with fresh nan bread to compliment the flavors and desserts to fill in the cracks!

The buffet is back baby!

Y'know how, when animals were returning to urban environments during peak-COVID, how we said things like "Nature is healing." Well: "Anchorage is healing" Walking from work to Bombay Deluxe became a ritual for me pre-COVID. I'd get some steps, some sun, and listen to some podcasts. Then, one day, the buffet was shutdown due to COVID concerns. I am happy to report that it is back and is, in fact, better than ever. I mean that. The food options are even more diverse than before and are, importantly, much SPICIER! People in Anchorage seem to have a low tolerance for heat though, so I'm not sure how long the spice will stay. Still, I shall enjoy it while it lasts. Also, I'm not sure if this is a new trend but, the server brought me piping hot (temp-wise) NAAN to my table. I usually skip the carbs at the buffet, but I simply couldn't resist. It was mouth-burning hot. *heart symbol goes here* I'll definitely be back, it was so good to see an old friend again!

Aloo gobi (vegan)

Very middling Indian food, prohibitively salty, but with a separate vegan section of the men that drew us in. We stopped in for dinner having seen that they have 7 vegan dishes. We ordered: -Navrattan curry ($18.95). This was our least favourite dish. It was excessively salty, very tomato-ey, lacked flavour complexity and depth. Very unsophisticated, poorly calibrated dish. 2/5 -Aloo gobi ($17.95). Slightly better than the Navrattan, but also excessively salty. What's going on in the kitchen? 2/5 -Dal tarka ($17.95). The best of the three dishes, with a nice creamy character, but also on the salty side. Goes well with the rice to tone down the salt, but still could use better calibration. 2.5/5 Each dish came with rice, plus we ordred a tandoori roti ($4.95), which was solid. Friendly, quick service, and we very much appreciate the clearly labeled vegan options. Too bad the food isn't great

This was an alright place for an Indian food buffet. Is it my favorite place in town? No. It's alright. Service wasn't great, food wasn't spectacular and the overall feel of the restaurant is that it used to be some kind saloon/ restaurant combo. Something I do like: their chicken soup from the buffet line tastes like a home cooked Mexican caldo without large vegetable chunks. Things that could be better: service, naan is on the crispy side, samosas don't have the nice crunch, buffet food is on the very mild side. The price point was also on the unclear side. Online I had seen $24.95 weekend adult buffet, in store had a $24.95 sign on whiteboard, the paper menu showed $34.95 but the total cost with waters came to $59 and some change for two adults weekend meal. Would I come back? Probably not.

I like Bombay and we order takeout from them from time to time. Most of the time the food is consistently good. That being said, this was our first in person visit. The location is good with lots of parking and a cute exterior. Inside it's cozy and warm with some nice comfy booths. This makes for a good place to bring a friend to chat and have some privacy. The Indian music playing in the background was fun and just the right volume. Service was pleasant and timely. Now let's get to portion size for price. My teenage son is an athlete and eats like a bear so with the chicken tikka masala entree priced at 21 dollars and change it would be nice to get more chicken. He ended up eating his portion and the rest of mine. They do refill your rice compliments of the house and your Indian Masala tea, which is nice. The cheese stuffed garlic naan bread was delicious and we got 4 slices. The flavors of the tikka masala sauce I will say are robust and succulent. We asked for medium spice but it was mild. Still the sauce was very good. The chicken however was a bit dry. Overall a good experience.

My go to spot for when I'm craving for Indian food. My usual order consists of the lamb curry and naan. There's also combo platter that we used to always order that comes with some other small sides. But sometimes when we go there it's unavailable. The lamb curry is my favorite on their menu. You can get it mild, medium or spicy. I can handle a lot of heat, so even their spicy isn't very spicy to me. Love putting the curry sauce over rice! Their naan is super delicious as well. I just wish they made their to go naan the same way as they do when you dine in. I prefer to have 4 smaller pieces rather than 1 or 2 larger ones when you order to go. (don't ask me why - it's just a preference lol)

Arrived early and was allowed to sit and wait while buffet was stocked. Food was great as is usual. Four of us ate our fill for $115.00.

We started with the sampler pakoras, which was perfect for a first visit because you get a little bit of everything, vegetable samosa, vegetable pakora, paneer pakora, and chicken pakora. Honestly just a great way to try a mix without overthinking it, and everything came out fresh and really good. For mains, we ordered the chicken tikka masala at medium heat, and I'd say it definitely leans more mild. It was good, but didn't quite have the depth or spice I personally look for in a tikka masala. It almost ate more like a tomato-based dish rather than that rich, bold flavor I usually expect. Still enjoyed it, just not as flavorful as I was hoping for. We also got the tandoori mixed grill with sheikh kabab, tandoori chicken, and tandoori shrimp, and that was a great call, especially with garlic naan. Probably my favorite part of the meal and a really good option if you want to try a few different things. Service was super fast even though the place was busy, and everything just felt really taken care of, waters stayed filled, to-go boxes came out right away, no waiting around for anything. Overall, really good food, great service, and an easy first visit. Definitely a spot I'd come back to and order more from the menu.

A Culinary Delight at Everest…read more Located on Old Seward Highway, Everest stands out as a beacon for lovers of Indian cuisine. As soon as you step inside, you're enveloped in an ambiance that exudes warmth and authenticity, accentuated by traditional décor and soothing music. The waitstaff was impeccably dressed, inviting, and friendly. The menu is a delightful journey through India's diverse tapestry of flavors, and a buffet is available during the week. From the moment we took our first bite of the food, the rich spices and freshly grilled notes were simply mesmerizing. The butter chicken was a showcase of culinary mastery -- tender chicken in a creamy, tomato-based sauce that was perfectly balanced. The garlic naan bread was so delicious, we ordered a second basket! For those seeking something unique, the lamb biryani was an absolute revelation. Aromatic basmati rice layered with succulent lamb, enriched with saffron, was the star of the evening. Every dish is crafted with such care that it tells a story of tradition and passion. What truly sets Everest apart, however, is its impeccable service. The staff is welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely eager to enhance your dining experience. They guided us through the menu perfectly, offering thoughtful recommendations and ensuring that our glasses were never empty. They did an impressive job of making all of the food taste authentic, not your typical bistro or fusion master of none style menus. We ordered butter chicken, pho rare steak, basket naan, chicken biryani, and chicken korma. The pho was phenomenal, just like in Vietnam, with an average portion of meat, overall very large portions and great flavor. The butter chicken was soupy and tasty, plenty of chicken, and large enough for anyone to be satisfied. I'm not typically a fan of biryani, but the chicken biryani had the perfect amount of spice, and almost addicting taste and heaping pile of food, enough for 3 meals! I did not like the chicken korma, but my wife loved it - with a unique yet non spicy flavor. The naan basket was also large, with 3 flavors of naan. Overall, the only negative thing was limited parking in the winter, otherwise I will definitely be back!
