She made sure to blend my roots so that my hair grows out better and subtly so it looks great for a long time! She did lowlights and toned it down to get the color I was looking for. I've lived on the west side for a decade and have passed by this salon quite a bit when I'm grabbing tea close by. My birthday was coming up so I thought I'd get a blowout for my party. The receptionists are very sweet and attentive. The blowout could've been better. I prefer a boar bristle brush for the texture of my hair but a metal one was used. At the end, the receptionist recommended using the Dyson flyaway tool. My stylist placed it directly on my scalp which burned my head. The cost of this experience was $88 including tip - for that amount I expect better. Will not be going back. read more

Right after posting the previous review, Eric reached out to me and talked with me about how they could remedy the situation. He said it's not unusual for clients to sometimes need what's called a Malibu treatment to brighten up hair that may have toned a little too dark after highlighting. He got me in within a few days to see my stylist. The treatment was quick- essentially just a wash and blow dry and my highlights definitely brightened up. Not where I want to be quite yet but certainly closer. Giving 5 stars for great customer service. I believe they truly want the customer to be happy, and I can't ask for much more than that! read more

I am SO happy and relieved that I went to Valerie! I was so nervous to try something new with my hair. It's always scary to go to someone new, but don't be scared and go see Gwen!! (Although everyone else in the salon also looked like they had fabulous hair, so you probably can't go wrong with anyone). My hair is stick straight and long, so I wanted a cut that would give me some volume and texture. Gwen listened to what I wanted and took her time to give me the perfect cut. She knew I liked wavy hair and made sure to give me beachy waves after the blow dry just so I could walk out happy and not have to fix it again before heading out. Break-ups are never easy especially when there's infidelity involved. After a fifteen year committed relationship with "Steve" I had a fling with Eric at BombShell, at least I thought it was a fling. However, as of our tryst last week, I've gotta dump Steve. I think Steve was dialing it in. My last cut and color with him left me sad and unhappy. I left Eric's chair (yes, we did it in a chair) a new woman! He added low lights, Balayage pieces, gloss and cut layers around my face like the pictures I'd shown him. I am getting compliments on my hair like I haven't had in a long while. My hair looks rich and natural (I was blonde as a child) Eric replicated my best pre-pubescent summer blonde with multiple colors creating depth, richness and a glow. My father even said, "this is what your hair looked like as a kid." So, without knowing or having seen me as a child, Eric nailed the color! BombShell is not a storefront on Main Street but in the Frank Gehry Edgemar building which has a lovely courtyard. The salon is filled with natural light and well worth the few steps off the sidewalk. I had read multiple reviews about Eric's work and selected him based on those rave reviews and his work is as great as everyone says it is. I've always had long hair and never colored it, but Tree was patient with me and took her time to get it right since this was a dramatic cut for me and the first time doing any hand painting (I think that's what it's called). This place is just great it's theme and decoration is modern but simple. And I went in because my hair has NOT been cut in 4 to 5 years! And Of course that New Client special sign attracted me in too, so I thought sure why not? I usually did my own trims and such because whenever I usually go to a place to get my hair cut. My hair was just so flat, ugly, heavy, oily and not doing much for me; so I decided time to break the 4 year streak today and because my hair needed washing too. At first I was intimidated because it looked so empty but then realized "Come on it's a Tuesday who will have the time to come get a hair cut but me?" Bernard was the only one there and he was kind of shy and quiet but I really wanted to get my hair cut so I jumped on to the Titanic knowing I was taking a huge risk. He was quiet but so nice! He offered me drinks and asked if me and my best friend needed anything at all. He washed my hair gently and then massaged my ugly oily hair. It took a long time but I didn't mind at ALL! Because PERFECTION TAKES TIME and Bernard was the meaning of that. I was so scared and nervous that I wouldn't like my hair that as time went by I felt secure because it was as if he was measuring every strand to make sure it was perfected to the 10's. I felt as if he was also double checking his work too which I LOVED! He's quiet but super Pro at hair and has had 5 or 7 years of schooling for the art. He is also very passionate and great at what he does too! Loved my chop in the end took many pictures of it and even a video. I just loved every strand of it when the finished results showed. My chop was inspired by Alexa Chung's and that's what I got in the end. I showed him two pics and that was all that was needed. Will definitely come back here if I need any hair related stuff done. I had a terrible salon experience at Bombshell Salon. I travel often for work and have visited many salons in NYC, LA, Seattle, SF, etc, and unfortunately Bombshell is one of the worst. I booked Bombshell for a hair gloss/toning session. I arrived 10 minutes early to check-in. The front desk person checked me in and proceeded to tell me that I will have to leave with my hair wet because I didn't book a blow drying session. Every one of my toning sessions have come with hair wash, dry and style so I was unaware of this "a la carte" business model. It caught me by surprise, and I asked to have it added because I was headed to a dinner party right after. This was all fine except that she claimed she couldn't get a hold of me to tell me about this the day before the appointment to confirm my appointment. This was a blatant lie because I did pick up the phone call, and there was absolutely no mention of this. I confirmed my appointment with them on the phone and via text. This came across as a complete"bait and switch" tactic. My stylist was able to squeeze in a blow dry session plus styling (another item that I had to add for extra charge...). The whole process takes 2 HOURS. TWO HOURS for hair toning and drying. It typically takes other stylists about an hour for toning, drying and styling. I sat here for 2 hours regretting ever having booked this place and paying $150 for a very unpleasant experience and a result I was not happy with because even though it took a long time, it all felt rushed and haphazard. The styling didn't even last an hour into the night. Another minor annoyance was that 3 people asked me if I wanted anything to drink and I asked for "still water" 3 times, and none of them brought it to me. There are other options in the area so please go elsewhere. read more

GO TO LANA!!!!!! I just moved to California and was looking to find a new place to get my hair cut but was terrified because my hair is SO long and I had been with the same stylist for years. I got there and had no wait at all, Lana was waiting for me. Lana took the time to SIT DOWN next to me and talk about what exactly I wanted. I decided to chop a few inches off and Lana allowed me to tell her where to places the clips to do the initial dry cut. Lana kept telling me she was so appreciative I trusted her and allowed her to cut my hair (because I was so scared of going to a new stylist). My hair was very dry and Lana took the time to do a moisturizing deep conditioner during the wash. The hair cut IS PERFECT. I told Lana I wanted to do long layers but not layer heavy and keep the length the best we could. I also told Lana I like to sometimes straighten my hair and do not like when the layered ends are cut straight across and look choppy. Lana did the most beautiful feathered layers and the face framing layers she did are PERFECT. My entire hair cut is PERFECT. Lana took the fear away immediately and I will absolutely be going back to Lana for every single hair requirement. The building was so clean and everyone was incredibly friendly. A truly hidden away gem. I needed a hair cut really bad. I connected with Krishna through a fb group and I'm so glad I did. When I found myself not able to get an appointment with someone I previously had in mind I remembered she worked here and I had seen pictures of her work. Walking into the salon and meeting Krishna for the first time. I introduced her to my hair (who is literally a person on its own). I told her everything I had done to it. She recommended a toner which I got and happy i did. She cut and styled my hair just how I wanted it and I walked out of there a happy big hair girl again. She really listens to what you want, but also gives her input on what she think would work best for your face shape and how you like to maintain your hair. She is never pushy though! She really wants you to feel great with what she creates. Since I've started seeing Krisha she's given me a choppy layered look, she then cut off about 6 inches of hair, and more recently she made me BLONDE! Sad to say that I was super disappointed with this salon and my stylist. My stylist was Vincent. I went in with very long hair (down to my mid back), showed several photos of the past shoulder length lob I wanted, and gave clear instructions requesting to take off around 3" of hair. He didn't ask how I styled my hair or where I parted it. We didn't talk about the quality of my hair or how I took care of it. All the kind of standard questions I have become used to from my stylists over the years. That should have been my first warning. He then chopped of 6 to 7 inches leaving me we an above shoulder crop. By the time I realized what he had done it was obviously too late. He said things like "you chose a super cute style." I did, but I didn't get the style I chose. And "it's takes 72 hours to settle in to a new cut." Well we are more than seven days later, and I still hate it. To add to that, there was a gentleman in the seat before me, they sat me down before he had even cleared away his personal belongings and water glass, not a sanitizing wipe in sight. Yet before signing their paperwork I read an extensive list about covid protocols. Needless to say, I would not recommend Vincent. I am sure there must be some great stylists there, just look at all the other glowing reviews, but I can not recommend based on my experience. read more

I've been going to Krishna for the past few months for color (alternating between highlights & balayage) & she absolutely kills it every time.
