In terms of ambiance, drinks, and service this place is divine! Unfortunately I wasn't a huge fan of the food. I'm vegan so it may just be that the vegan dishes weren't as good, but i was sadly disappointed. Starting with the vegan appetizer. I was expecting a purple sweet potato based on description, but it ended up being a potato mashed with some other ingredients into a paste and put back into the shape of a potato. Wasn't a huge fan of that. The vegan stir fry also seemed to be lacking in texture and flavor. Everything was fresh, but the abundance of mushrooms was overpowering and a lot of one thing. The yucca fries were pretty good. Now the sauces - to die for and so fresh! I was so in love with the drinks (cocktails and mocktails). The complementary Peruvian corn and house made sauces were such a treat. Hoping they expand their vegan dishes soon to keep us coming back. read more

Used to go to the Urubamba in Jackson heights. This location is higher end. Loved the quality of the food. It's also very flavorful & delicious. It's reminds me of city food. Had the pico sour and pandan colada to start. Very refreshing and delicious. The ginger taste for colada is just right. For appetizers we ordered the ceviche mixto (seafood) & grilled octopus. For main dishes, we ordered Lomo saltado and paella. Dessert we had the Cherimoya ice cream. 1st time having cherimoya and we were blown away. It was delightful! Had a disappointing time here on a Friday night. Please hire a professional bar tender with customer service and bar tending experience . The young girl ( Millie) who worked on Friday night really shouldn't be behind the bar... especially on a busy night. She was in a bad mood .. had to get her attention for bar snacks and when we wanted drink refill or more of those snacks while we waited for food... which took a long time. The excuse we kept getting was " sorry we are busy"... that's not an acceptable excuse. Of course you are busy on a Friday night. Anyway.. if we had better service at the bar it would have been ok to wait so long but you really need a more professional bar tender. I wasn't in the mood to go out in a Sunday evening but I'm so glad I got a second wind. My wife knew how much I love ceviche so put a hook in me to have some of my favorite food- Peruvian. We arrived and were delighted to see such beautiful decor and authentic feels that compliment the food. Service was traditional and friendly. The servers we had were genuinely glad we were there. We were offered cocktails and the night only got better. As you can see from the pictures, we ate like a king and queen. The overall experience is one we want to have again- and soon! Desert was a warm brownie with some ice cream made from local flavors and we really enjoyed it as well as the tasty shots of pisco mixed with some local flavor. While they've only been open two months, they've gotten the whole package running on all eight cylinders. I'm promised a delicious cup of coffee when they get their machine in the future. Everything was perfect. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a warm welcome from who I guess was the owner Sigi. We got two shots of chica morada. Delicious. From the ambiance to the cuisine, everything was delightful and well executed. I especially appreciated that the music was kept at a comfortable level and was neither loud nor distracting. We ordered the grilled octopus and a kale salad as appetizers, both of which were excellent. For the main course, we selected the pollo a la brasa, salmon, paella and seco. The chicken and salmon were outstanding; however, I found the seco to be somewhat overpriced given the portion of meat served. The desserts, the brownie and the cherimoya ice cream, were not overly sweet and were truly pleasing to the palate. Finally, the waiters were attentive throughout the evening. Another GREAT meal at Urubamba! As competitive as huntington is... This place is an absolute stand out. Above and beyond the regular places. We started with drinks at the bar. I don't know what they call those corn things with the sauce, but absolutely delicious. Had the octopus, the veal skewers and the kale salad. All delicious. Wow! A fantastic addition to the Huntington Village dining scene, Urubamba is located just north of the village where Babalu used to be. The owner, who welcomed us at the door with a warm handshake, did a great job renovating the space, making it light, bright and welcoming. The bartender is a master; the incredible Uru Sour (Pisco Italia, Black Whiskey, elderflower, yuzu, egg whites) he made me was so good I had to have two. The food itself was amazing: Leche de Tigre with calamari special appetizer was easily the best ceviche I've ever tasted. We also had a colorful and tasty vegan causa to start. On suggestion of my son (who'd eaten here once before), i had the lomo saltado as my main, and it was excellent. Tender beef, crispy potatoes and flavorful sauce. We ended with a pair of divine desserts: chirimoya ice cream and manjar blanco tres leches. Throughout, the servers and owner were so friendly and warm, telling us about the history of chirimoya. Urubamba is the best Peruvian restaurant I've ever been to, and I cannot wait to return and try more dishes. read more

I'm coming out of my Yelp retirement to write this review because I love this place and I want it to stick around!! The decor is lovely and the menu is fantastic. I love Peruvian food, but my husband had never had it before. We both loved it. I'm vegetarian and he's gluten free and we both had many options to choose from. I had the vegan quinoa chaufa and he had the seafood paella. The food came fast and was hot and delicious. We brought our 9 month old baby and they had a high chair for her and were really nice. Yum Diggity! Been hoping for a great Peruvian restaurant nearby. Ceviche mixto is delicious with an aji amarillo sauce. Huancaina is a new to me dish of crispy little potatoes in a lite cheese sauce. Arroz con Mariscos is kind of Peruvian paella. 3 dishes for 2 people is about right. Hope the NYS LB gets them a license soon so I can enjoy a Pisco sour. In the meantime, Chicha Morada is very good. Service was incredibly slow. 3pm on a sunday, empty place, 2 servers and it took forever to get our food order and the check. Absolutely incredible. My wife and I were visiting a friend coming in from the city, and I wanted to bring them somewhere special in Huntington. I found this spot on Google, saw it was Peruvian (which we all love), and decided to just go for it -- no overthinking, showed up around 7 on a Friday night. We were so glad we did. The entire experience was amazing. The food was outstanding, and they even brought us a little chicha and Peruvian corn bites to start -- such a thoughtful touch. The drinks were just as memorable: my wife got the purple corn drink (chicha morada), and I had a ginger pisco -- both were incredibly tasty and beautifully balanced. We ordered the ceviche (which was amazing!) and ají de gallina. On top of all that, the staff were so kind and welcoming, even sharing some Peruvian history and culture with us, which made the evening feel even more special.
