My wife, our 2.5 y/o son, our newborn girl and I went here on a whim while visiting from about 2 hours away. I'm from the south, but not usually a fan of your regular "everything's fried" seafood places we tend to have around here. After seeing the pics and reviews on Yelp of the dishes, I decided the place looked great, and it being listed as kid friendly really helped make the decision to head out. Boy are we glad we did!!! Once we arrived, we were surprised to see that while the establishment didn't look "all that" from the outside, it was packed, which is always a good sign. We started with some top shelf drinks which were amazing and strong, and we had the crab cake appetizer. The crab cake was perfect, and the sauce combination was perfect. The wife had the mahi topped with shrimp and I had the redfish topped with crab, both with the herb cream sauce. For our sides, the red potatoes (which were crawfish/crab boil baby red potatoes mashed to perfection with the skins in tact) were AMAZING, and so were the brussel sprouts which were braised and topped with bacon!!! Everything was excellent!!! We usually make the trek out to Beaumont, TX to enjoy good seafood Pappadeaux's, but this place topped our regular favorite, bar none! The atmosphere was perfect for us bringing a 2.5 year old, as he can sometimes be a bit fussy and loud, but the ambiance here at Steve n Pat's was just at his level, so he didn't disturb anybody near by as he wasn't louder than the room. The food was soo tasty and cooked to perfection that it literally brought tears to my eyes. That very, very rarely happens. We finished the meal with the banana fosters bread pudding. Even the vanilla ice cream on top was delightful! 10/10, will definitely be our new favorite restaurant in Lafayette!!! read more

The flavor of the food was actually really good. There just wasn't enough of it. Grits & shrimp (dinner entree) had maybe 1/3 cup of cooked Grits. Shrimp (heads on) made it messy but the flavor overall was awesome. 22$ was way over priced for the amount you got. Especially since the menu said $10. that was the appetizer portion. I ate here on a business trip last week for the second time, and the restaurant was even better than i remembered. Lafayette doesn't lack in restaurants and it's always difficult to decide which i want to try when i'm here for business with someone else picking up the tab. Because of that it's rare that i go to any place twice in a short period of time, but Bon Temps is worth an exception. I ate late on a Weds night and pretty much had the place to myself. i started with the NOLA Shrimp and Grits and they are out of this world. If shrimp and grits is on the menu at a restaurant i always order it at least once to try it out...this has resulted in me eating hundreds of orders of S&G in my life and i would put Bon Temps in the top 3. Regardless of what else you order, you have to try the shrimp and grits if you are a shrimp person. I struggled to decide on a main entree and ended up with the Crawfish etouffee pot pie. It was my least favorite of the 3 courses, but it was still very good. I'd like to try it again sometime during crawfish season and see if they use fresh ones with a little more size and flavor. The crust seemed to be similar to a croissant and was exceptional. I finished with the much-praised bread pudding and I have to say that i agree that it is a must-have for anyone trying this restaurant for the first time. The portion was huge and could easily be shared with 2-3 people. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was local and welcoming. This place will definitely stay on my short list of repeat restaurants in the Lafayette area. read more

Out of towner hunting the local favorite and this was top of the list. It's on a Lafayette food tour and had a nicely designed interior with a rustic feel. The wait staff recommended the Crawfish pot pie, a unique dish to the area. I am a fan of crawfish, so I could not pass this opportunity up. Crust was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The fill had crawfish tail, rice and a cream based sauce. Excellent flavors and hefty portion! read more

We were very excited to eat here when we read all the reviews on it. We had been driving all day and they were super busy with "martinis madness" so we decided to order for take out. $65 later for a few meals and an appetizer I was sure this meal would be awesome. I should have taken the leaky bag for a sign. Judging by the pictures everyone took we must have ordered the children's sizes of these entrées. The gumbo had only a couple pieces of sausage and came with 1/4 cup of rice to mix in. My husband was so looking forward to some REAL Louisiana gumbo and was pretty dissatisfied.cThe stuffed mushroom didn't come with any of the sauce shown in the picture, and the leakage? That was from the box of frog legs that were put in the bag almost SIDEWAYS! I ordered fries as a side and got potatoes (which I was fine with if they didn't have fries but how can you not tell me that?!) The reason I gave it 3 stars was because the flavor on the mushrooms, the alligator diora and the burger were amazing. There was just a lot lacking when ordering takeout. read more

Came in with a party of 6... Could only accommodate us at bar table because of the way the tables were seated on the floor (there were only 3 seated but were staggered so that tables could not be put together for a larger party). Bartender waited on us which resulted in poor service because he was busy serving drinks & waiting on customers at the counter. Ordered steak medium rare, it was served seared & cold in the middle. Ended up asking the hostess for ketchup, dressing, etc. Suggestion: if you seat a larger party at a bar table, assign a server, not the bartender who was very nice & tried but was far too busy. Was there for dinner Thursday and can't wait to go back. We had crab cakes, shrimp and grits and frog leg appetizers. We couldn't get pass the appetizers since we ordered so many but it was so good. All I can say is Wow! From the moment we stepped inside the door to when we left our experience was nothing short than phenomenal! We found this place using trip advisor, its a smaller bar & grill but the atmosphere was family friendly, waiter was very knowledgeable about the food and made some great recommendations. Ordered frog legs for the app, and our waiter brought extra garlic bread...i could have licked the plate clean of the sauce if I knew no one would see me. Main meal he ordered mahi mahi and cheesy grits...tasted like mash potatoes, loved it since im not a fan of grits and I had the fish tacos...so delicious i couldnt stop licking my fingers! I enjoyed the waiter and the owner was so friendly and gave us tips on other local restaurants to try out. Definitely make it a point to stop and eat here! read more

Nothing fancy about the looks of the place but......... Great food and excellent service. Starting off with the sausage and boudin board (which is a meal all by itself!) we had the daily special and crawfish pot pie with the cranberry pecan cake for dessert. Incredible Cajun Restaurant! Charming decor, impeccable service and scrumptious food! We stopped for lunch on a road trip from FL to Dallas, a little off the beaten path from I-10 on some challenging roads - but worth every inch. Based on previous reviews we ordered the crab cake appetizer - huge, full of crab and creamy!?! Yum! My husband and I both had the crawfish etouffee pot pie. When it came out I thought we'd made a mistake by not sharing it, but it looks bigger than it is due to the incredibly flaky crust. My husband almost licked the bowl clean! I finished all but the 1 inch crust around the edge of the bowl (crust is only on top, not under so it was not a heavy dish at all). At the end of our meal the manager even came over to say hello, make sure everything was satisfactory - and gave us a card for a free appetizer on our next visit! We'd go back in a heartbeat - highly recommend it! read more

Great service and great food. My husband and I were traveling through on our way to Tampa and decided to give it a try. Everything was fantastic. I had the apple and Tasso stuffed pork. It was so tender and slightly spicy and very moist and delicious. My husband had the grilled sirloin Caesar salad and it was great also. I have lived in Lafayette for 30 years and this is one of my favorite places to eat. My favorites are the Shrimp and grits, it has the best sauce. Also the Boudin Plate, my brother who still lives way up north had it and says "now i get Boudin", and another appatizer I like is the frog legs good sized well cooked and the gravy is amazing. read more
