First, our waiter (I think he was an owner or manager) was one of the NICEST servers I've ever had. He was very charming, polite, and enthusiastic about the menu. Second, the food is amazing! I had the duck drummettes and the sweet chili and honey chicken with mashed sweet potatoes. (Not to mention I sampled a little bit of everyone else's plates!) From the ugly Christmas light fire place to the dirt caked decor this place is gross. The knotty pine wall as and flaking paint. AS IF! The salad was gross. Tasted like vodka and cat piss. Potatoes they are known for? Sad, stale and a waste of time and money. Also a waste of calories. The asparagus was woody and was not cut from the stalk. The Cuban sandwich tasted like cat food mixed with sea salt. Bread they auto serve ( probably to get rid of) was stale and had a strange garlic butter taste to it. Chips loaded with sodium and soggy as well. CLOSE. THE. DOORS. Server was fine tho but didn't even seem to be a fan of any of the food themself when asked for advice. The menu is creative, the staff exemplifies Southern hospitality, the prices are almost unreasonably low for the quality you receive. I ordered the frog legs which were smothered in an incredibly decadent garlic herb sauce, highly recommended. Next came the crawfish pot pie which did not disappoint, tasty and cooked to perfection, the pie crust was incredibly delicate and never soggy. The rest of the menu begs me to stay here for a week so I can try it all. Highly recommend this place. A couple miles off the highway if your driving through but WELL worth the detour. We visit Lafayette annually for Festival and try to find at least one good local restaurant for dinner. On the advice of the bartender at the hotel where we were staying, this year we decided to dine at the Bon Temps Grill. Kudos to our bartender for a great recommendation. The Bon Temps location appears to be in a primarily residential area, definitely not in a central business district. It proves that great food can be found in out of the way places. We were promptly seated and taken care of by a very charming young lady that continued to provide great service throughout the evening. The menu has many of the Cajun greatest hits, jambalaya, crawfish pot pie and more. We opted for the boucherie board for two. We received a carnivores dream with three kinds of sausage, grilled tuna, sirloin, ribs and spicy grilled whole shrimp. The boudin was truly some of the best I have ever had, very mild without a strong liver flavor. The sausage with Steen's syrup was fantastic dipped in the mustard that accompanied the board. The best of the whole thing may have been the grilled tuna. For sides we opted for the braised Brussels sprouts and the jalapeno cheese grits. The grits may be been the only thing that was not truly great, a little surprising for a southern restaurant. If you really want something to talk about when you get home you must try the bananas foster bread pudding. Fantastic, that is all that needs to be said. The Bon Temps Grill is worth the effort it takes to find the place. read more

The service was prompt and attentive, and the food was excellent. We started the meal with a tuna/avocado appetizer (sorry, don't remember the exact name) that was served with homemade potato chips. My daughter ordered Blackened Redfish, served with mango salsa, Brussel sprouts, and jalapeño cheese grits. The fish was cooked just right, and the sides were delicious. I chose the Crawfish Pie, which was their version of a pot pie stuffed with crawfish étouffée, and I was not disappointed at all. We shared the Banana Foster Bread Pudding.
