Finally made it to Bon and I'm already planning my next trip back! I strongly recommend making a reservation on the weekends as it fills up very fast. They are also BYOB. We were seating immediately for our 6:30pm reservation and service was phenomenal when ordering and bringing our food out. The only thing was we sat for a while with empty water glasses and no one asked how our food was once we got it. And it also took awhile to flag someone down to get our check. We started with their tempura appetizer. It was delicious perfectly crisp and paired great with the dipping sauce. Overall a great size portion to share with two people. For entrees I ordered their spicy tuna roll and dragon roll. The spicy tuna was delicious and with quality tuna. Not the normal minced tuna most places will serve you. The dragon roll was large and just enough to fill me up. I also enjoyed that they don't drown their rolls in sauces and toppings here. My friend ordered their miso black cod. He enjoyed the portion size and it paired great with a side of white rice. I do have to say my favorite part of the meal was how quickly staff brought over silverware for my friend when they saw him struggling to use the chopsticks. Inside is very modern and clean. The restaurant is perfectly light and tables are well spaced.

Hands down the best and freshest sushi in the area. The Propose, one punch, Hanabi, and Westwood are phenomenal. The angry ex girlfriend is amazing if you like Philly rolls.

Sushi quality is amazing. Decor and ambiance is very cute so it is great for a date night. It is byob, which I love and the service is attentive. Love this place will definitely put it in my rotation.

My sister and my mom threw my bridal shower at Bon this May. Bon did an amazing job at making the day amazing. The food was to die for the ambience was electric and the staff were all so sweet and accommodating . Everyone had the best time and raved about the foood! If you're planning an event and are a sushi finatic like me, definitely consider Bon! Lia was amazing and so sweet, she helped my fam so much with making sure the day went smoothly. I just went back for a casual dinner with my parents and the sushi blew me away again - it was just so fresh and delicious! I live in New York City so good sushi is something I come by often and I wouldn't expect it to be just as good in New Jersey, but its truly amazing. Thank you, Bon!

We went on a Friday evening. The atmosphere was very open with decorations for the holiday season. I appreciated the space between each of the tables. We had multiple waiters/waitresses all that were extremely tentative, especially Randy. The food is priced a notch above your local Japanese restaurants but the sushi and entrees were delicious and extremely fresh. I highly recommend the redbud roll if you enjoy tuna and spice along with the truffle unagi foie gras Bowl. One negative is that the establishment has a implemented both a card service fee AND a cash discount. I understand in this time applying a small credit card fee, but applying both if you pay credit card you will be paying an extra 8.85% which is steep. Make sure you bring cash when you come here to avoid this. Overall food was delicious. I will be coming back with cash.

Stopped in for lunch on a rainy Saturday about half an hour after they opened, around 12. It was still pretty empty at that time. The restaurant is modern-looking and spacious. They gave us this cozy little nook that was also able to accommodate our stroller. They started us off with some hot (peach?) tea, which was nice on a rainy day. They don't have a drink menu as they are BYOB, but even a non-alcoholic drink menu would have been nice. They said they just have cans of soda, so there is some untapped potential for them here if they added some Asian drinks. They have some deals on the menu, like appetizer combos (we opted for the any two appetizers for $38), and lunch special - even on the weekends! We ordered a feast to share since we were celebrating Hubby's birthday. We had: -Scallop Foie Gras (scallop, Foie Gras, torched with truffle oil) - this was good but the scallop slices were thinner than I expected. Comes with six pieces -Beef Carpaccio (thin sliced beef, pecan, arugula, grana padano cheese, sauce, and balsamic) - a little too saucy for me and I wish they cut up the beef into smaller pieces because I nearly choked on one. Other than that, the beef itself was good -Salmon Course Lunch Special (2 salmon, 2 torched salmon, 2 salmon belly, 2 salmon tataki, 1 salmon handroll) - the salmon was very good. My only complaint would be th torched salmon - they put entirely way too much spicy mayo and eel sauce on it. Next time, I would ask for sauce on the side. This was a great deal though. It also comes with a soup, salad, and two bulgogi arancinis, which were very unique - but again too much sauce since it was served on a plate with tomato sauce. The salad already has dressing on it, which you guessed it - too much dressing. So this seems to be a common theme at Bon -20 PCs of chef's choice sushi - the pieces were not explained to us but we were able to guess the fish and the flavors of the ingredients for the most part. My favorite was definitely the tuna, which melts in your mouth. Other top contenders include a yellowtail and a fluke (which I normally don't love but it tasted really fresh here). Dislikes includes the filler pieces of eel and cooked shrimp. There were 10 different pieces, so we both got to have one of each -Croffle with ice cream - all of the reviews online showed everyone getting this dessert, so we wanted to try it since we figured it must be good. It was just okay - pretty basic and probably something you could just make yourself at home Our waiter was really nice but we did feel neglected a bit. He forgot some things so we had to ask a few times for certain items. But it was probably because the restaurant was starting to get busier and he was the only waiter around. I would still come back. The fish is good quality and very reasonably priced for a higher end sushi place. Tip - they might have a parking lot around back but there was some street parking at this time and it's only 25 cents for two hours.

Nestled in the heart of downtown Westwood, NJ, we were delighted to find the rare gem: a hybrid of Korean and Japanese cuisine. Great food, great ambience, impeccable service.

Exceptional Omakase experience. Delicious uniquely presented sushi and seafood. Excellent friendly service and beautifully presented. Just perfect for an upscale dinner. Simply superb.

Amazing experience at Bon from the ambience to the quality of the sushi. This is one of the best sushi restaurants I have I ever been to and I call myself a sushi connoisseur. It is very nice and clean inside and everything taste so good! We got the tuna crispy rice and the refresh roll and both were outstanding!

Had Christmas Eve dinner at Bon. Service was excellent and food was delicious (as always!) Absolute favorite on the menu is the scallop appetizer- beautiful combination of flavors. I had the yuzu miso black cod, pictured. Lovely presentation and tasty fish cooked perfectly. Definitely recommend.

The restaurant was casual and comfortable, and the staff seemed very much on top of what appeared to be a very robust takeout order business. While we made our selections live at the cash register, we saw a continuing rotation of patrons coming to grab their meals. The staff had the process down, though, as they maintained their patience, quickly prepared the food, and got everything organized and packed without flaw. One of the items we tried was the Clear Soup, which could have used more mushrooms, but had a flavorful broth infused with fried onions. We also had the Steamed Shrimp Gyoza and Steamed Shrimp Shumai, which had surprisingly different flavors. Both were fresh and delicate, with the Shumai having a bit more of a seafood-forward kick. While we enjoyed the few bites that we sampled from Matsu, we will need to go back to try some sushi from their vast menu that included loads of raw rolls, cooked varieties, and interesting custom creations. If that was not enough of a reason on its own, clearly the continuous flow of takeout diners and slew of local awards on the walls were signs that we needed to return. Plus, that way I would be able to write a more thorough review.

We ordered the Pork Tonkatsu - All the Way, Soy Garlic Chicken Wings, and Lumpia. We tried the lumpia first. Let me preface, this is a great introduction to Filipino food for white people of Rutherford and beyond. As a Filipino, this was so sub-par. It tasted like ground pork, unseasoned, with no aromatics or vegetables, accompanied with sweet chilli sauce to save it. The ramen was just OK. I don't want to disparage it, but it holds no candle to anything at Mitsua. The chicken wings were the most disappointing part of the meal. When you offer Soy Garlic, or Gochujang flavored wings, you expect double fried, breaded, amazing Korean-style crunchy wings. These were naked wings and a pathetic drizzle of what they considered "Soy Garlic" sauce. It was really bad. The seasoning on the chicken really turned my stomach. What was that flavor they were going for? The sauce was not Soy Garlic and the Chicken flavor base was atrocious. Not to mention, my wings still had feathers on them. They really need to stop playing around and whip that kitchen into shape and avoid delivering THIS type of quality! I really wanted to LOVE this place. Instead, I felt like I wasted my money and left way disappointed.

The owner was also incredibly welcoming, which made the experience even better. The dumplings were a standout for me: perfectly cooked with sauces that complemented them really well. I ordered the black garlic ramen, and while it was still enjoyable, the broth didn't have the deep, rich garlic flavor I was expecting. I've had quite a few black garlic ramen bowls before, so I was hoping for a more bold and savory profile. That said, the noodles had a great chewy texture, the pork was tender and flavorful, and the egg was cooked perfectly. Overall, it was still a solid experience, especially for the ambiance and hospitality.

Once your order is ready your number is called and you pick up your tray of food. There is signage in the restaurant indicating that they are self-serve and that you shouldn't tip. My girlfriend and I ordered beef soup and a seafood pancake. The food was prepared fairly quickly and they called our number to pick up the food from the counter. The seafood pancake was pretty good. Very flavorful but I felt like it was thicker and more doughy than I prefer. I would probably skip this for the next visit. The beef soup was delicious as well. It was just the right temperature and it was salty and savory enough without being overwhelming. We went on a particularly cold day so the hot soup really hit the spot. The pieces of beef in the soup were super tender too. Continuing the self-service theme there was a water dispenser and there was even a dispenser of broth at the pick up counter. Formerly known as Sambong as recently as 8-9 months ago when they first opened, menu-wise they've stayed fairly consistent, specializing in naengmyun (cold noodles in a chilled broth), with some stews and bbq grilled items too. On a cold winter Sunday afternoon we placed our orders around 12:40 and it was ready for pick up at 1:15pm. We ordered: - 물냉면 + 목살구이 Mul Naengmyun Cold Noodle + Pork Neck BBQ $24.99: the thin noodles are super bouncy and chewy, excellent take on a summer classic! Soup and toppings hit the spot, a couple slices of beef and Asian pear, thinly slice cucumbers and pickled radish, plus half an egg. The extra side of bbq pork cheek was marinated and grilled to tender perfection. - 소고기 국밥 Spicy Guk Bap $17.99: lightly spicy beef broth with bean sprouts, scallions, and pieces of beef, served over rice. Warm and hearty Korean comfort food on a cold day. - 사골우거지된창국 Sagol Ugeoji Doenjang Guk with Rice $18.99: this beef bone broth is seasoned with fermented bean paste, a flavor somewhat similar to miso with plenty of rehydrated dried napa cabbage. A rich flavor and great over the white rice that came with it. - 돈까스 Donkatsu $19.99 and LA갈비 LA Galbi BBQ $36.99: my friends ordered these items to share with their kids. I didn't try them though they appeared to enjoy. - banchan (side dishes): about 5 or 6 small containers came with the entrees, consisting of regular napa kimchi, a couple different radish kimchis, fish cakes. The chilled kimchi was fermented goodness and went well with the hot broths, soup and rice. Would recommend!
