This place is a bit higher-end sushi spot in North Jersey. As you walk in, you can appreciate the nice ambiance and feel. However, the service did not match this higher-end expectation; it was just okay or fair, not what you would expect from a higher-end restaurant. Then again, it's only a sushi place, right? The menu offers a decent variety--neither too many options nor too limited. We tried various items, and while the presentation was better than most sushi places I've been to, the quality and taste were lacking. Some sauces were too overpowering, masking the pure taste of the sushi and rolls. Additionally, the nigiri wasn't particularly fresh. Overall, I'd give it 2 out of 5 stars. Would I come back? Most likely not; for the price, I would opt for Shumi in Ridgewood, which has a decent ambiance and much higher quality food. read more

This new spot is fantastic! We came here for my friend's birthday and opted in for the table omakase menu. It's 16 courses including appetizers, sushi, soup, and dessert. There was a wonderful variety of flavors and each part of the meal was fantastic. The waitstaff were also extremely kind and generous. The sushi here was amazing. We came to celebrate my engagement and my girlfriend did the BYOB. We had as appetizers the blue fin tuna that was great/flavorful. We also had the BULGOGI ARANCINI which were like rice balls with beef those were good. We had the refresh sushi to die for and then surf/turf that was good, and finally the proper it was amazing. I came here thinking it would be a great moms night out. The night started out with all the potential of a newborn calf. The restaurant was packed, we were seated quickly, the waiter was friendly. Two hours later, it started to become a deja vu moment back to my college days when I would get drunk but run out of money for food - starving, cold, starving ...I may have had a hallucination..maybe 2. ....because apparently our waiter forgot to put in our order. I probably would have eaten McDonald's I was so hungry. Worst was they kept on bringing the wrong food to our table...teasing us like a Greek siren ready to lead us astray. For hours, I sat with the food equivalent of blue balls. I even considered trading favors with people at the next table so I could have some of their food. The food was really good...but I stuffed it into my face so fast from being hungry that I barely tasted it. I can only comment on take out. From what I saw inside it's beautiful. Staff was very friendly while I was waiting for my food. They have a few things to work out but nothing major. To start off with the most important part of the review the food is excellent. All fresh and tasty which is what I typically care about. However (and I realize this is an upscale place) I wish the rolls were a bit bigger for the price that you're paying. Same goes for the hand rolls that I got. The hand rolls are open faced not the traditional cone shaped. I prefer the cone shaped ones because you're guaranteed more then 2 bites which was the case at Bon. The service was good and the place itself is really nice and clean! Can't give this place less then 5 stars simply because I didn't like the portion size. I visited this restaurant for the first time during the weekend. I was afraid that there will be a lot of people, but thankfully when we got there around 5pm, it was pretty quiet. First of all, the appetizers here are great. We tried this new squid gambas appetizer and the squid tasted so soft with no taste of typical seafood. The beef carpaccio was my friend's favorite and it also became my favorite. We had 8 pieces of sushi as main. Each sushi was combined with special seasoning or topping on the top that correlates well with each piece of sushi. Very detailed and impressive when I tasted it. At last, we had two dessert menu. No words are needed! Korean style dessert always tastes good and so does the new strawberry dessert menu that they now have! (Sorry i dont know the name of it). It goes well with the general mood of the restaurant and with the food. I dont think I have a picture of it, but their special tea that is served as a "water" made me happy throughout the course of meal. You guys will love it when you try!! Bon is great! Two words: Real Wasabi I saw the sushi chef grate real wasabi root on premises! I was utterly impressed by the quality of their food and the overall experience. Every piece of sashimi/sushi was from a premium cut and plated beautifully. I recently ordered lunch for takeout. The food was packaged nicely, and the staff was friendly. However, I was a bit disappointed with the food quality. I got a set of three rolls (tuna, spicy scallop, and negi toro) along with hwe dup bap. While the spicy scallop roll was good, the tuna and negi toro rolls had a strong fishy taste, and the hwe dup bap didn't have much fish. I've had better experiences dining in, so perhaps the quality is better when eating at the restaurant. Also, the small pack of gochujang wasn't enough to mix with the rice--I wish they provided a larger container or at least two packs. Overall, it was an okay experience, but not quite worth $50 lunch. read more

I SIMPLY cannot wait to go back. This is my personal favorite omakase in NJ and I've been to 6 different omakase restaurants. All the courses were amazing. The most notable was the abalone dish, and the WAFFLE. YES THE WAFFLE. It is so delicious in a way I cannot even explain. It's so weird to say my favorite waffle I've ever had was at an omakase place, but damn was it DELICIOUS. I'm going back soon, hopefully they never change the dessert. The atmosphere was beautiful and quiet. The servers were attentive, and each bite was seriously enjoyable. I like how the pieces were not all your typical bites at an omakase. There were some staples, but also some very interesting bites. The chef was really friendly which made the experience that much more fun. And you leave full! For the price, this was so so so worth it. Right now it's not as packed since it's newly opened, but I'll get sad when my favorite place starts getting popular because the food and the people will surely get them some good buzz. But nevertheless, I'd wait to get into this place even when they start filling up the place with customers. As of right now tho, the wait is little to none, and the place is spaceous. Been here twice already for lunch and each time the food has been stellar. Sushi has been fresh and delicious, their bowls are unique and super tasty. Lunch menu offers many little dishes (gyoza, udon, ect.) with your main that the price is definitely worth it, especially considering how good the food is. Staff are very pleasant and have no trouble answering whatever questions you may have. Recently visited and was excited to try this restaurant out. Inside is spacious and clean. The menu is quite vast and a little different from other traditional sushi restaurants. We got the 3 appetizer special, hamachi, scallop with foie gois and beef carpaccio. The hamachi was not fully cooked when we first received it and the second one they gave us was very small and alittle burnt. The other 2 concepts were good, but there were too many flavor concepts going on at the same time. Also very sauce heavy. The sushi combo and sashimi was fresh, smaller pieces which I like but the sushi rice had no seasoning. The service was somewhat disappointing. They are nice, but not attentive. We had to call our server to order, or ask for things in the middle of the meal. He never came over to check if we needed anything or how our meal was so that was surprising. After confirming our reservations, they told us we had to wait another 15 minutes, no problem then they told us 30 minutes and then they told us they wouldn't be able to sets us at all. The kicker is that we were a party of 3 and while we were waiting a party came in that had a reservation for 9 and told them that they would only be 6 instead. Problem solved, or so you would think. This guy did everything in his power not to seat us. Not sure why, one can only speculate, but he definitely doesn't understand the service and hospitality business, that's for sure. The tasting menu paired perfectly with the wine,and it was a delightful date for both the eyes and the tastebuds.The sever with the wonderful voice gave a great explanation of the courses.
