    Seasoned Fried Zucchini
    Justin M.

Overall the flavors were excellent... I had the soy garlic and sweet & spicy flavors. I personally had the tenders were like flat pieces of breast meat and kinda overcooked but my friend had the wings, same flavors and they were perfect according to him. The seasoned fries and fried zucchini were also tasty. The cucumber salad was refreshing.

Went twice to give it a fair chance but food was terrible and expensive. I had the bulgogi fries w/ extra bulgolgi the first time and the fries were sub par. Today I got the drumstick trio w/ waffle fries and couldn't finish my meal the taste was so weird.

I am told when i see a bonchon chicken you go in and get the chicken. Their chicken is very good bringing that Japanese fried chicken to the us as well as good Asian foods. The service was good and pretty quick for how many to go and bulk orders it seems they had. The inside is a good size for sitting down and eating and it wasn't very loud either

    Lunch special

Tried Bonchon for the first time and I was impressed! The lunch special was a great value and came with 4 wings with your choice of sauce and a side. I wasn't a huge fan of the pickled radish, but the fries were so delicious and fresh! It's a very casual spot but they definitely cook your food to order because all that we got was fresh. I loved my food but the next time I visit I will ask for a side of sauce for my chicken because mine was just lightly brushed with sauce.

Spicy Fried Chicken and Korean Street Corn Bonchon is always one of my favorites! Fantastic korean fried chicken, loved the street corn. Super flavorful, great portions. Always a great comfort food option

    Flavorless fried rice

Where is the flavor? I got fried rice with chicken and my friend got the glass noodles with beef and we were both disappointed. I will say the potstickers soy garlic flavor was delicious but that's as far as the flavor went. I asked for soy garlic sauce to put on my rice and they refused to give me any because it's "too concentrated" but honestly that's exactly what this flavorless rice needed! They don't even have soy sauce on the side to liven the dish, we spend over $43 dollars to be so disappointed.

Lunch special - chicken tenders and Seasoned Fries

We went for lunch to check it out. The food was well prepared and had good flavor. The lunch special was a great deal but they upcharge for fries which a little weird (IMO). It came with 6 tenders with your choice of sauce. We did half and half. Both were very good. The seasoned fries were nicely fried, extra crunchy with lots of "seasoning" so we got our $2 worth. The house salad came with sesame ginger and I wanted to try the wasabi ranch as well. The ranch was interesting but the sesame ginger was definitely the winner. The salad is a decent size but I probably wouldn't get it again. The fried rice with bulgogi was excellent. It is a good amount of rice and is seasoned perfectly. They gave you side of soy but it's unnecessary. I was impressed with this dish. It exceeded my expectations. The lady working the front counter deserves a full 5 stars. She was fantastic. She gave recommendations, was helpful and just pleasant to talk to. Excellent customer service and we were wowed by her overall attitude. It was a very nice experience.

    NOT double fried chicken
    Francisco H.

Ah, how disappointing. After almost a year of not eating BonChon after a disappointing service, we finally decided to try again. I ordered 5 chicken strips. Double fried. Extra delicious. As I remember them - EXCEPT. They weren't fried. At all. They were coated in something slimy, like a dumpling. Not fried at all. Not crunchy. Not like the other chicken we ordered. Very, very disappointed. The fries were great. The corn was great. The chicken wings and legs were just right. But the fact that the strips weren't even fried!? I tried putting them in the air fryer and still not right. Meh. Not double fried at all. It'll be another year before we try again...

Really good drumsticks! Double fried! Not really a "Korean" place... more of a fried chicken place with som Asian seasonings and rice sides. Will be back for the drumsticks, for sure. Fried rice plate was small. Good beer on tap!

My first time visiting. The front staff was very kind and gave recommendations which I totally appreciated. Just wanted to post an updated menu pic bc the prices have changed. I ordered the special 3 drumsticks, fries, & 1donut. The restaurant was very clean and they used gloves for handling everything

Regardless of race, they greet you in their language, "anhyonghasaeo" which gives it more of an authentic vibe. The menu is hung above the cashier in both Korean and English language. We came during lunch hour today and they were pretty busy, though we didn't even have to wait long for the food. I grabbed a tray of their gimbal (spicy w/ anchovies) laid out in the front, I loved that it came with pickled radish and a wasabi sauce. It was everything I was craving! For only $7 there were like 10 rolls in there! As for the main entrees, I ordered the spicy pork ribs, which was so good and tender, falling off the bone! I also ordered the seafood pancake, it wasn't as crispy as other places I've tried but it was full of flavor and full of seafood! I'd take this seafood pancake over Maht gaek's any day! I also ordered the soontofu soup combo with stir fried pork. Each entree came with a side of purple rice and plenty of side dishes. Their kimchi was especially good. You can tell it's made in house, it was very fresh and delicious. Overall everything was so good, that I have no complaints about the food. I would honestly come back tomorrow

Before the main event, we got the seafood & green onion pancake. Crispy on the outside and reasonably chewy interior. Good amount of seafood; in particular, the oyster stood out. It was also a nice portion that was ideal for sharing. I opted for the seafood soondubu. Everything, from the banchan to the specific side dishes served with the soondubu, came out not too long after ordering. I got it at spice level three which I thought offered the right amount of kick without being too overwhelming (I also like to think I have a pretty strong spice tolerance). It had a good variety of seafood; namely, the shrimp and oyster. I'm not the biggest fan of clams but they were definitely still tasty. The tofu was soft and silky. The yellow croaker and rice were great supplements to the dish. The rice perfectly absorbed the broth. The croaker added a nice crunchy break from everything. The banchan was pretty standard in my opinion - still, a great complement to the soondubu. Last but not least - service was attentive and quick. I will definitely be coming back at some point!

The restaurant had plenty of space, but service was still super fast and efficient anyway, which I loved. What I love about Chodang is that the food is stellar and such good PORTIONS. Knowing this, I still opted to order a Combo Special because the thought of having leftovers for the next day sounded great to me. I ordered the Kimchi Tofu Soup with Beef Bulgogi, and it was delicious. I usually order my soups at the Spicy level, which I would say has a kick and flavor but never leaves me panting for air or water. As someone who likes spice, I wouldn't say it's very spicy, but definitely flavorful. Beef Bulgogi is one of my favorite dishes, and this place's version does not disappoint. The meat is tender and has a good balance of sweet and salty. My friends also ordered Combo Specials with a Tofu soup and the Korean bbq ribs, and Spicy Pork Bulgogi. One of these friends opted for the medium spice level, which I would say is a safe choice for everyone, especially if you're worried about something being too spicy. All soups come with Korean side dishes, a whole grilled yellow croaker fish (delicious but lots of bones), and a hot stone bowl of rice. Nothing missed!

Californian from SF here, so take this with a pinch of salt, as I would suggest with the eel soup…read more Along with that soup(L21), our party of three and a half (sleeping baby) ordered a small bossam(A1) and the dak-ghalbi/spicy chicken(L11). If you are suffering from gout/high uric acid, I'd recommend AGAINST you ordering the spicy chicken. Out came a salad, classic Napa cabbage kimchi, radish kimchi, and individual portions of three sauces. Gochujang, bean paste with jalapeno and onion, and a sweetened soy with pickled cukes. Of note is the Napa cabbage kimchi, fresh rather than aged, akin to Kunjip (for those of you from the Bay Area) rather than other typical Korean eateries. The fish sauce used gave a background note reminiscent of salted fish/鹹魚 if you're Cantonese, a first for me. Then came the three dishes. The small bossam came with squid, spicy dried radish (different from the earlier kimchi which had the crisp of a pear. This has a different crunch.), a lightly dressed scallion salad, and of course, boiled pork belly. Sorry, no oysters. The staff suggest eating the squid with gochujang. Pork belly unctuous and very soft. Entire dish was solid. The eel soup is a first for me. Never seen before. The white soup was thick like sollongtong, loaded, but rather bland. The unseasoned eel gave the broth a light freshwater fish flavor that will not be for everyone, but the meat was much improved with the sweetened soy. Other ingredients used include scallions, enoki mushrooms, and of note, perilla leaves, which gave a strong flavor between mint and epazote when encountered. The soup overall did feel bland so we added salt as if this was sollongtong, and the taste did improve a lot. Last dish: dak-ghalbi/spicy chicken. Normally the most mundane of the 3, I'm writing because of this dish. When we say spicy, I mean this dish will slowly leave a small fissure in the center of your tongue, though you will be able to taste everything else. The marinate had a mushroom flavor that I haven't had on this side of the Pacific Ocean, and worked well with the heat. Present again was the perilla leaf whose flavor stood up well, just a touch, neither neutered by nor overpowering the heat. Japchae noodles were present as well, showing an addictively toothsome side that I didn't know japchae had. Call me impressed. There was one struggle I had coming here though... I'm used to seeing Latinized Korean on the menu; here there is straight up Hangul, and and English description of the dish... Took me a while to go through the menu. Never realized how much I relied on this feature, or how naked I felt without it... But yeah. Dallas ain't no slouch when it comes to Korean food.

Wasn't a big fan of the sauce it came with--it was a bit sweet for my liking. The Dried Cabbage Soup was also another item that didn't match the menu, and unfortunately so--in lieu of ribs, we were served (a relatively small portion of) brisket. Overall, the soup lacked depth and it was heavy on the veggies. Lastly, the Kimchi Dumplings were probably my fave. They came out steaming hot from the kitchen, and they had a nice flavor that wasn't overpowered by the kimchi or its tartness. Service: We were waited on by two people--a man and a woman. The woman seemed to be well versed in the menu and offered her suggestions, which we took her up on. The man, who I'm assuming is the owner, was nice enough to explain how to enjoy the Boiled Pork Wrap. Came on a busy Thursday evening, but food came out pretty quickly. Ambiance: Casual, modern, traditional. Parking: Ample parking. Located in a plaza.
