Pork dumpling's
Marcus W.

02/3/26 Tuesday 12:58pm lunch time. Haven't been here since 5-6 yrs ago. Got the 10 piece soy garlic wings, fried rice, coleslaw and got the pork dumpling and got the Sotteok Sotteok it's a grilled rice cakes an! d mini sausages. Fried rice was good it was soft not mushy fresh. The wings are so delicious still like I remember! Soy garlic sauce they put on them are amazing! It makes you lick your fingers clean while eating them (make sure your hands are clean first thou ) the pork dumpling with the sauce on them was delicious first time trying them! Also first time trying the rice cake & mini sausages on the stick it has a spicy kick to them but just right not over spicy a good balance! The quality and freshness of the chicken, and the dumplings dough and pork was tasty and very good. The preparation and packaging in packing was great! They seem to care at lease in presentation

Great place for some crispy Korean chicken wings. The restaurant is fairly decent sized for a bonchon and casual. We stopped by when they had the promo for $1 wings and got the classic soy garlic, Korean bbq and yangneom style wings. The soy garlic was great as usual, and the yangeom had a nice spice without being as spicy as the original spicy. Id pass on the Korean bbq flavor, it had a sour taste that I didn't really enjoy, I was expecting it to be more sweet. We pored it all with some beer and fried rice and it was a hearty meal. The service was quick and the staff were friendly.

My supposedly 10 wings and 5 drums.

Expecting a sumptuous 10 wings and 5 drums, I picked up a pre-ordered meal at the Brighton Ave. Allston store. My bad for not checking the order. Upon opening the box, I had received 4 wings and 2 drums. Can you believe it? I learned my lesson. Will take my business someplace else. No quality control. Dumplings? I didn't order those.

Bulgogi Fries

The food was alright, a little underwhelming. Nothing was actually "bad" but nothing made us want to come back again. Everything tasted very one dimensional so it's not necessarily a bad place to get food, but don't come in expecting a super delicious experience.

An empty glass of water.

I found the wings very good, I like the sauces on the wings and it was very yummy. But the street corn ratio from cheese to corn was a bit overboard. There was a lot of cheese and it made it taste a little off. The waitress is really sweet and patient. I really was not a fan of the Korean corn dog because it was quite burnt. There water is so good though like the best resturant water ever.

The Drumsticks were huge! Chickes didn't had enough sauces on it and little dry inside. Place was empty 7pm and te services were okay, not the best. Overall, it was okay but I wouldn't recommend nor come back.

Shrimp Shumai

Spicy ALERT: the spicy option for the fried chicken is REALLY SPICY so beware! Today we decided to have the soy garlic flavor and it was tasty as always! The chicken is breaded and double fried before being tossed in sauce for that extra perfect crunch! Also know that their drum sticks are HUGE (the size of my face) if you decide to try them out~ The tteokbokki was also pretty spicy but enjoyable The bulgogi udon had a strong shittake mushroom based broth flavor and had an overall very comforting taste 10/10 fried chicken craving satisfied

3.5 for food Ordered the family meal (12 wings + 6 drum sticks, half plain, half soy garlic, fried rice, and French fries) and japchae. The chicken was a good portion and extremely crispy. When they say plain chicken, they do mean plain, it didn't even taste like the chicken was salted which is not the norm for Korean chicken. Definitely order with sauce. The fried rice was good but the portion size was disappointing, definitely not enough for a family meal. French fries were really good, well seasoned, crispy, freshly fried. Japchae was good, on the sweeter side, the noodle portion was good but for the price was really light on beef. Overall the food was good.

Combo
Anna F.

We enjoyed everything. The combo was flavorful and spicy. Super crispy, and even stays that way the next day (I had a couple of leftover pieces the next day). We also enjoyed the bulgogi fries. It was a combo of flavors I didn't know I needed... but now I definitely do: cheesy, kimchi, scallion-y, and sweet thinly cut bulgogi meat on top of fries.

Rock or boneless wing?
Peter C.

I've been many times to the restaurant and was always happy. The food was stellar. I haven't been since covid though and wow things have changed. I ordered boneless wings and I received a box of dry, rock hard nuggets. I kid you not that even my dog turned these down. Into the trash they went. What a waste of $30 in Uber Eats. This might keep me from ever returning. This is not just bad, it's unacceptable. I would have had better luck with a frozen bag of Tyson nuggets. This is no exaggeration either. I order from bonchon expecting the same level of quality I've always gotten, but I'm highly disappointed. I actually skip the Waltham one because the food is so bad there and always get the Allston/Brighton one, but man, are they all just headed downhill now?

Food: I love Bonchon - never tried anything from there which has disappointed me. Although, I've only been like 2-3 times (usually for celebrations like last day of work, friends going away, birthday) but all the times I've been, everything was DELICIOUS. Flavors are always on point. Portions are BIG (good for splitting), definitely warm, filling, LARGE variety of menu items to choose from - I love their scallion pancakes LOL, but honestly anything is good. Location: Since portions are so big and there is so much variety in their menu, Bonchon is def a good place to come with friends. I've been to the Allston and Harvard Square area and both are in fun locations for sure. I like Allston for its' variety of Asian food (and desserts, omg, so much to choose from).

Spicy boneless KFC

Had a gift card to Bonchon and finally decided to check it out. We ordered Tteobokki, Popcorn shrimp and a half&half order of boneless chicken with soy garlic and spicy sauce. The popcorn shrimp was probably the best out of the 3. A bit salty but crispy enough. The Korean fried chicken was extremely disappointing. It was very dry, the actual chicken had no seasoning, and the breading was extremely tough. Both the soy garlic and spicy sauces just didn't have a good enough taste to redeem the chicken. I always expect KFC to be juicy and crispy but I got neither at Bonchon. The Tteobokki was quite spicy and mind you, I can handle spice but it was extremely hot so be forewarned. The texture of the rice cakes and the fishcakes was on point though. Probably won't come back but glad I gave it a try.

We found KChickin nearby on Peterborough Street and they're open until 9:30pm. We walked quickly over as hunger is a good motivator to walk fast. The restaurant has takeout but offered enough space to hold three famished Fenway newbies. Service was quickly and friendly and the food was served fairly quickly. Seems like most restaurants begin at the suggested 18% tip to start. Some calculate their tipping suggestions at your subtotal before adding the taxes to your bill. This restaurant included the taxes as part of its tip calculation so be aware that you're actually tipping more than 18%. FYI: as a customer, you decide how much to tip for quality service. Bringing your orders to your table is basic. How many times they filled your water cups and check up on you are important and expected. Tipping is not automatic in my humble opinion. Servers who work diligently for their tips so tip accordingly to those who provided a great dining experience.

KChickin is one of those places that earns its high rating without much argument. We walked into a…read morespace that buzzes even on weeknight evenings, with a menu spanning Korean fried chicken, sushi, hand rolls, and Japanese comfort food. That combination sounds like it could go sideways, but the kitchen handles the range with enough confidence that the whole thing works. The fried chicken is the anchor of the menu and the reason most people come back. We ordered the soy garlic wings, the most talked about item, and they justified the reputation. They came out freshly fried with a glaze that coated evenly and a crunch that held. The chili basil version is worth ordering alongside if you want some heat, and the classic crispy is the right call for anyone who wants to taste the chicken itself without much interference. The calamari is a strong starter, well fried and light enough that it did not weigh down the rest of the meal before it got going. On the Japanese side of the menu, the kaisen don stood out. The presentation was careful and the fish was fresh in a way that made it feel like a dish the kitchen takes seriously rather than an afterthought. The hand rolls are solid and satisfying, though they lean more reliable than revelatory, making them a good addition to a larger spread rather than the sole reason to visit. For a spot covering this much ground, the consistency impressed us most. People drive over an hour to eat here, and that says something. It earns the trip. We would come back for the soy garlic wings and a bowl of kimchi tofu soup, and we would bring friends who want both Korean fried chicken and fresh sushi under one roof.

Most Americanized Korean places wouldn't have the first two, so we felt this was a good sign. Both the soups were legitimately neutral, and we were each given ramekins of rock salt. The sullongtang had ample pieces of beef, rice noodles (odd that they don't use vermicelli though) and was covered with green onions. Definitely not as good as something like LA's Han Bat Shul Long Tang, but that would be an unfair comparison! The samgyetang was decently sized, a good fresh meaty chicken. It was stuffed with rice (but not mochi rice), garlic, and dates. We left feeling content and accomplished. For decades, Boston's only Korean options were Koreana or Japanese/Korean places like Gyuhama, and this is far better (and more reasonable) than those. The service was fantastic too, nice job Hanna.

The japchae and scallop were my favorite bites of the night. Then there were 2 meat dishes, pancake and then finally the chicken soup. The chicken soup was also very good and had so much flavor. I would come back again for the banchan, japchae and chicken soup again. I do have a few criticisms on the meal. For a set meal, I don't think it was present in the most enjoyable order. The pancake came in right before the final dish of the chicken soup. The flavor and texture wasn't very good and felt so out of place as everything else was so well done. If it was brought way earlier, I wouldn't have a second thought on it. But it felt off putting being the second to last dish. Also we were a bit thrown off by just the pacing of everything. You would think that you eat the banchan along with your mains, but it more felt like you needed to finish them sooner given the limited table space. The last thing is the chicken soup is brought way too late into the meal. It's essentially the main part of the meal, but is brought in last after you finish most things.
