We were visiting a friend who lives nearby and she suggested we go over and watch one of the World Cup Games. We arrived about an hour before the game. There was a line outside as they were checking ID's but the line moved fast. They were also making sure everyone was in your group or be seated. The place filled up pretty quickly. There were TVs everywhere you looked so there was no bad seat in the house. Although it was busy our server was efficient and friendly. A few of us spontaneously stopped by on Black Friday evening after watching a late movie at the theater nearby. The exterior was decked out in holiday frills, and the freshly painted evergreen made it look incredibly festive. Inside, it looked like a typical pub, and it was packed, much to our surprise. We figured all the Arlington transplants had gone home for the holidays, but then again, the four of us aren't from the area either, so I guess that checks out haha. We were seated upon arrival at one of the high-tops near the bar. Ireland's Four Courts is known as one of the well-known local sports bar, and they had the UT vs. A&M football game playing on multiple screens. The crowd was really into it, and if that's what you're here for, it's definitely a vibe. We ordered some late-night snacks, and a couple of us grabbed drinks: PROSECCO - 12 The prosecco is from Lamberti, Italy -- no idea what that means for quality since I don't drink much. I thought it was OK to sip on here and there, nothing special. I wouldn't recommend chugging it. That was... not a good time. IRISH SAUSAGE ROLL - 12 Each order comes with two sausage rolls wrapped in a thick layer of puff pastry. Sadly, the pastry was incredibly soggy tasted far from fresh. It stuck to the sausage in a mushy way and wasn't even warm. Yucky. The sausage itself was fine, but it was too fused with the soggy pastry to enjoy. FOUR COURTS CHEESE FRIES - 13 The portion size was huge -- we were worried we wouldn't finish it. The fries were more "potato-y" than crispy, and they were the thicker shoestring type. They were smothered with cheddar cheese that had already solidified, so it wasn't warm at all. Most fries didn't even get any cheese since it wasn't spread well. There were barely any bacon bits -- maybe only like 12 fries had them. Generally, I'll eat any fry as long as there's ketchup, so I just drenched them. Overall, pretty subpar food. The interior is lively, so I'd recommend stopping by if you're here for the vibe and the sports, but definitely not for the sausage roll or cheese fries. read more

I had a really disappointing experience at Ireland's Four Courts. I was with two friends, and we were looking for somewhere to sit. There was a four-person table where an older couple was packing up to leave, so I asked if we could have their side once they left. They said yes, and I also asked the younger couple sitting on the other side if they were okay with it, and they said yes as well. As soon as I sat down, a server (a middle-aged white woman) came over, told me I couldn't sit there, and asked me to get up. She then placed a "Reserved" sign on the table. When I asked why, she mumbled something and walked away without explaining the policy. My friend has been there many times and had never seen Ireland's Four Courts take reservations for tables, so I asked the younger couple how they had gotten theirs. They told me they hadn't--they had simply sat down. A few minutes later, the same server removed the "Reserved" sign and seated a father and his son at the exact same table. I asked them how they had gotten the table, and they also said they hadn't reserved it; the server had simply told them they could sit there. The father was incredibly kind. After I explained what had happened, he stood up and offered me his seat because he also couldn't understand why I wasn't allowed to sit there. When the server returned, she again insisted that I couldn't sit there and told the father that if he didn't want the table, he should have said so. He was just as confused as I was and went to speak with who I believe was the manager. The manager came over, apologized, and told me I could sit there as long as I ordered food. That explanation was confusing because my group already had two buckets of drinks and we were literally about to order food. I want to be clear that I don't know what Ireland's Four Courts' seating policy is. If there is a policy that would have explained what happened, it was never communicated to me despite me asking. What was difficult to understand was why I was repeatedly told I couldn't sit there, while multiple other customers were allowed to do exactly that without issue. The entire interaction left me feeling singled out and unwelcome. I was the only Black person involved in these interactions, while every other customer who was allowed to sit at that table was white. I can't say for certain that race was the reason for how I was treated, but given the circumstances, it's hard not to question whether it played a role. At the very least, I was treated differently from everyone else in the exact same situation, and no one was willing to clearly explain why. I hope management looks into this and ensures that seating policies are applied consistently and clearly communicated to all guests so that no one else has a similar experience. read more

I came for happy hour with a sizeable group of friends and we noticed after we paid that our waiter did not give us happy hour prices. We didn't order everything off the happy hour menu. Came in with my roommates to watch march madness. They have a nice large space with plenty of tvs. We started with a round of espresso martinis. I personally give mine a 6/10, it was very sweet for my taste, I usually like my espresso martinis a little more bitter. However, my roommates love theirs with bailey's in it, so they gave them a rating of an 8/10, so definitely just a preference on sweetness level. We split the garlic parmesan fries, and the old bay boneless wings. Both were enough food for the three of us, however, the fries were very wet, we think they were just loaded with too much parmesan and garlic. They would have been great if they were crispier. The old bay wings were a little dry and not our favorite. The carrots and celery that came with them were delicious and very fresh. I think next time i'll try the burger, as our other roommate joined us later and for the burger and loved it. It was a nice size portion and came with a side. Our bartender was very nice, attentive, and a lot of fun to talk to. I highly recommend coming and watching games here, the restaurant is lively and they can accommodate large parties. This place has become one of our standards for dinner before catching a movie at the AMC Courthouse, which is a couple of blocks away. The restaurant is warm and welcoming. The staff is friendly and helpful. Most importantly, the food is consistently delicious. My usual choices are a burger, maybe a Ruben sandwich, and occasionally some chicken wings. However, last night, it was cold and rainy, and I tried something more adult, their Chicken Boxty. What a great choice! There were plenty of chicken chunks and onions in a savory curry broth. After being a loyal customer for over four years, I was celebrating a 4-3 Capitals win when a hostess opened her arms for a hug. In the excitement of the moment, I lifted her briefly. She later reported this to management as me picking her up, and as a result, I and my entire group were immediately cut off. I calmly explained the situation to management, but they were firm in their decision despite the context. This was especially disappointing given that we had spent over $1,000 that night alone, and likely well over $30,000 here over the past several years. Dave has always been a fantastic manager and one of the primary reasons we continued coming back. Unfortunately, after Dave left, the new manager chose to take an unnecessarily rigid approach and dismissed us entirely. I recalled the food at the pub at one time to be surprising in it's individual takes on the classic pub grub. There was a twist that would spark your choices to widen and encouraged returning in short time. My last pass through left me with a plate that seemed "phoned in" as the sandwich (corned beef) suffered the dressing oil to be the overwhelming taste and not the beef. The kraut I will admit was tangy and rinsed before it could saturate everything else. Frozen potatoes are the normal. There are several Irish pubs in the arlington area and we've been on a mission to try them all! The exterior of Ireland's Four Courts looks homey and inviting and the inside decor definitely has an Irish pub ambience. My boyfriend and I walked in for dinner around 8pm on a Friday night and were able to get a table without a problem. That's not to say that the place was empty though - there were only a few available tables and the atmosphere was lively. I ordered the chicken boxty and my boyfriend got the chicken pot pie. They have all the traditional pub options you could want (bangers and mash, stews, fish and chips, etc.) as well as a nice selection of appetizers and sandwiches. The servers were friendly and it took about 20 minutes for the food to come out. Be prepared to be in a food coma when you're done. The chicken boxty was RICH with a fair amount of chicken and an even more generous serving of potato pancake. My boyfriend really enjoyed his meal, and he tends to be particular about his chicken pot pies!
