Decided to try something different and give this Korean Fried Chicken Concept a spin. Eventhough wings would see like an easy thing to churn out on an above average level, restaurants spit out mediocre soggy trash. Well, the korean fried spicy wings here were fucking great. Crispy, almost to perfection. Sauce perfectly applied. Spicy as fuck but not ridiculous. Pickled Radish on side is a nice touch. Service was effecient and friendly. Space contemporary and clean. I took off a star for price. Mixed Green Asian salad was tiny. $9. Bowl of plain fried rice $11. Im a believer that a single buffalo wing cannot and should not cost in more than $1 a unit. Wings at my restaurant go 8 for $8. $16 for $15. 24 for $21. Binchon isnt using Jumbo wings. These are using smalls (which are 40 cents cheaper per lb btw) and had 30 small buff wings at 33.95. Spot on!! I feel that this is how restaurant businesses should be. Not only that the food is great : I got their chicken combo 1/2 & 1/2 of drums and wings. Though only several flavs to chose from (unlike other places that claimed serving too many good different flavs but just ruined the appetites), in the case of BonChon chickens vs other chickens -This place definetely got theee BEST soy garlic and spicy flav chickens. A co-worker introduced me to this establishment and if I may say, they have some of the best Korean Wings EVER!!! The glaze on the wings are to die for and they are soooooooo delicious!!!! The spicy wings are indeed SPICY, but honestly I couldn't stop eating them. My favorite wings are Soy Garlic, they are sweet and savory tasting!!!! I couldn't get enough!!!! Yes this place "used to have" good chicken. About 3 weeks ago, I could of sworn that it was the best chicken ever. Yes this place is new and it got packed real quickly. Unfortunately, the management is not ready for this type of rush. In order for any restaurant to be successful, they need to serve good food on a CONSISTENT manner. Right now it's a hit or miss. The quality us deteriorating because they are premaking the chicken to handle the eush. I ordered a combo chicken, and the chicken was warm at best. It was sitting somewhere in the kitchen. During our entire meal, the server never came by and asked how the food was. Again, sign management who don't know how to train an employee. Here is the worst part. I asked for the check and the wait staff asked "How was everthing". I replied "It was bad". They listened and never asked me why. Amazing. I started going here since this location opened. I think ive been here about 10 times now, im not real sure. I am sure though that the quality has consistantly gone down hill. When they first opened the food was great. The wings were big, juicy, cooked perfectly and coated in just the right amount of sauce. I always get the spicy and soy garlic wings. Now the wings are always over cooked and dried out. The sauce gets over concentrated so its too salty or too spicy. I used too like the pickled radish or the coleslaw. Now it tastes bitter as if it too old.... Today i got wings but it was like they sat under a heat lamp all day. They were old and dried out and almost inedible. The chicken is so crispy and delicious, it's addictive. My two year old (who is extremely picky) will gobble up his plate of chicken strips, radish, and rice. If I lived closer I would probably become a regular. Dining in you can expect a clean table, friendly service, and KPop videos playing on the tv. Ordering carry out you can expect still-crispy chicken after a 30 minute drive, friendly service, and spill proof and dishwasher safe containers. Was happy to finally taste Bon Chon Chicken. The large combo platter was genius and just enough to sample everything about the chicken there and to take the rest home to the kids. Flavors were good, skin semi-crispy, and temp was hot. Great for a treat but not for everyday chicken. read more

I've been going here since they opened but my recent visit will be my last due to the poor customer service and mis management. This place has unfortunately been sold to new owners who don't care about loyalty. I picked up a large order of spicy wings that had no spicy sauce on it. I called in and they told me that the cook used the correct amount of sauce. I took photos and offered to show them but they didn't even care. They said come back with the wings that have no sauce and they will refund me per wing. I've ordered from here over 40 times with no other issues. Luckily got a table at a high-top during the dinner rush. The ambiance has an urban-industrial, somewhat trendy vibe. Staff are friendly. Ordered onion rings, pork belly buns, and 1/2 and 1/2 small wings. Onion rings were very good with a light and crispy batter. Pork belly buns were very delish in flavor, but what a bummer the meat across all 3 pieces were ~75% fat. Overheard our neighbors calling it, "jiggly meat." Lol. There were some catering orders, so our wings took ~30 minutes to come out but were piping hot and among the most light and crispy I've had. However, the flavors had much to be desired and not addicting as I anticipated (def not Great Seas or Chef Ping level.) The spicy was not at all spicy. The soy garlic was very salty. I appreciated there are only 2 sauce options as less can be more, but there is much room for improvement. The Korean-style radish cubes are always a welcome accompaniment and a refreshing balance to wings. Some tables around us were given plastic gloves to devour their wings which I thought was a nice touch, but for some reason, we didn't get them (maybe they're upon request?) Wish we were told to pay upfront when we got our check; we waited around for a while. Overall, I'm glad we got to try this new joint and encouraged to see Korean chains popping up in our hood, but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to return. read more

Loooooove love love Bonchon! Definitely one of my go to's. I have only order delivery from this location, but I have dined in at the location in Chicago. The quality is consistent at both spots. Obviously, you go here for the fried chicken. The skin is so crisp and crunchy and the meet is juicy and tender. The drumsticks are the size of big drumsticks, not like the normal small drums you get with wings. I personally enjoy spicy things, but their spicy sauce is extremely hot. I don't even order the spicy anymore, I usually do a half order of soy garlic and a half order of the sweet crunch and then get a side of kimchi to add some heat. The wings always come with pickled radish which I absolutely love and adds a nice brightness to the dish. I have turned so many of my friends and family on to this spot. If you were on the fence about coming here, I would absolutely recommend! read more

I've been to a ton of Bonchon's all over the world including Korea. This was by far the best. Reason? They cook your chicken fresh to order. The crispiness of the batter and the juiciness of the chicken are a perfect match. Try their other dishes too: ddukbokki, bibimbap, etc. Love how Korean food is expanding in this area. read more

Pros: Offer to sit at the bar if you don't like sharing a table with another party when there is only 2 of you. We enjoyed that the bar faced the tv. Get the spicy chicken--the drumsticks are huge, crispy and worth the money. It wasn't spicy for me considering it was slightly sweet and spicy. The shrimp dumplings fried was good--might get it steamed if I ever go back. The sliders are alright--one time order situation. Read below the con for them. Cons: Waiting area for a seat and sitting area in general--small and not organized. The octopus balls were sour. I never had one that was purposely sour. The bun used for the sliders killed the flavor and texture of the slider. Ran out of the pork belly even though it was 7pm when we dined but oh well. Will I ever come back? This was our third visit to this location and chinatown is so much better. After our first two visits, I said I'll wait one more time before I post a review. The wings are still crispy and moist but still lacking enough sauce. We asked our server for a little more sauce and she said that was impossible. We had tenders which barely had any glaze and were a bit dry and we explained this to her and she offered us some ranch. We also had ordered steamed rice. We asked for the steamed rice as it wasn't brought out with the food as the same time as the sauce and she said it would be right out. It didn't show up except on the bill. We decided to tell her to get the extra $2 from the restaurant from her tip. Last time, they also forgot one of our side the same way and the first time they didn't put it in the computer. Please excuse my spelling mistakes and maybe a bit of animosity within my writing as I am writing this in a very livid and hangry state due to not being able to eat the food I ordered after waiting for an hour for fried chicken after prime dinner time (we got there after 7:30pm). Also, please bear in mind that this is coming from an ex-restaurant service worker. Got there around 7:35pm on May 17th 2021. No one in the restaurant but us (me and my parents). We sat down ordered the food (30 wings, onion rings, seasoned fries) and 2 beers. When our server was getting us the beer, he didnt get us any beer cups nor beer opener. When I asked for some cups, the first words out if mouth was "More cups?". Which I replied to with 'Yes, beer cups please'. I felt that at a restaurant with a bar, getting customers beer cups when ordering beer was the norm but apparently not here and not with that server. I will add that when the server was asked what draft beer was available, he first told us that all beer that we see on the draft taps were available. However, when we walked over there and tried to pour the pitcher, NONE of the draft beer taps were available. Now, an hour has passed and we still don't have our 30 wings. And no, I did remind him about the wings every 15 mins or so just to make sure that he didn't forget about our order. Every time, the server said that it was being fried. Chicken does not fry for an hour. Hence, my parents and I left the restaurant after an hour of being there empty stomach. This is their last meal in Chicago as they are leaving to LA tomorrow and I was livid. Not a single apology from the server who had his friends over at the bar and chatting them up like he was there to drink and chill with his friends. One of his friends were seen IN the kitchen with him cracking jokes with the cooks in the kitchen. Damn unprofessional and unsanitary. When I brought this up to the owner who was at the place when I returned to talk to the particular server, the owner was at least making me feel like he cared for the situation. Then there was the server standing next to us giving pathetic excuses like 'oh, we were busy when they were here'. I counted the carry out orders they had in the hour duration I was there. There were 3 carry out orders. I have worked in the restaurant industry for years in the past and one server and a team of 4-5 cooks can handle way more than 4 orders in an hour. I have been a loyal customer to Bonchon Glenview and I truly doubt if I ever want to dine here ever again with this kind of experience. This is seriously the best fried chicken you will ever have. Their Korean wings are amazingly delicious. There are only 2 flavors for their wings (soy garlic and spicy) but you will NOT be disappointed. I love the spicy wings but soy garlic is just as great. The outside of the chicken is fried to perfection, you literally hear the "crisp" biting into it. The chicken is so tender and packed full of flavor. Trust me, you will get addicted. They have many other items in their menu, such as fried rice, bao buns, japchae noodles, fries, bulgogi sliders, and tacos! The last time I was here I had ordered their fries and bulgogi tacos on top of the 20 spicy wings we ordered. The tacos and fries were so delicious. The fries are seasoned and fried just as well as their chicken, nice and crispy. And the bulgogi tacos are sweet with so much flavor, topped with this amazing coleslaw. Crispy, made-to-order chicken wings. We had an order of the medium chicken wings (half soy & half spicy) and enjoyed it so much that we ordered another platter! Both orders were piping hot, juicy, and perfectly crispy. No complaints. We also ordered the takoyaki and chicken sliders. Takoyaki was alright (I'm not a big fan of takoyaki), and fair warning - chicken sliders were incredibly spicy and not as crunchy as I'd like, but to each their own. I appreciated the plethora of options, even though their specialty is korean fried chicken. I'm excited to come back and try the sesame ginger chicken salad and their tacos (it was quite difficult deciding between appetizers). Manager's a cutie. Service was very friendly and attentive. The best Korean Fried Chicken! This restaurant was extremely busy when it first opened, with a line that easily took an hour. Now you can usually get a seat here with little to no wait. The delicious crispy chicken is worth the wait though even though the price is a little bit expensive. You might want to bring a few friends or family along to take advantage of the discount on the large orders on the chicken.
