I was in the area and was craving some Korean chicken when I stumbled upon this franchise. I tried their Dallas location and it was amazing so I had to try this one in Houston! The food came out fairly quickly, however it was not all impressive. The Tteokbokki was good but not great, the fried rice was amazing, but I was mostly disappointed from the chicken. The chicken tasted like something you would get from chic fil la. The chicken was good but it isn't Korean fried chicken. I asked him was I not allowed to change my mind and dine-in instead, and he replied, "My boss called and said he saw you on camera, and told me to ask you to leave because you said wanted your food to-go. I am updating my review after giving Bonchon a few more tries. I would not recommend this restaurant for pick up or curbside ordering. I have ordered curbside three times now (two additional times since my first review) and once for pickup. I was disappointed every time. All my orders were missing something; chopsticks, sauces, sides, an entire meal! The food was okey but inconsistently prepared. I have deleted the Bonchon app from my phone. If they are still open, I may try them again next year in the hopes that they have worked out their issues. read more

Since they were chicken wings, of course I was expecting normal decently sized wings like you get at wingstop or Buffalo Wild Wings. When our delivery arrived, to say we were disappointed would be an understatement. The "chicken wings" came in a very small box (think maybe just slightly bigger than a McDonald's chicken nugget box) and just filled with the TINIEST CHICKEN NUGGETS. there ended up being maybe a little more than 24 nuggets but FOR THIRTY DOLLARS is absolutely criminal. At that point we were paying for like $1/nugget the size of my thumb. I literally could've just bought a 20 piece from McDonald's and been way more satisfied. I literally don't understand how this happened or if this is just what they normally serve? Additionally the buldak portion size was pretty small too but not nearly as disappointing as the chicken nuggets. It also serves other korean food like tteokbokki, bibimbap, etc. The service is great! Every time I've come here they've always been super welcoming and kind. a newly opened location for one of my favorite spots to eat! I've only ever tried to pearland location so I was very hopeful to see some consistency. We came on their 3rd day of opening so as expected service was slower than what would've been preferred. However the service itself was very nice and helpful. Lots of staff present (I assume for training purposes) Constantly coming to check up on us! Who I assume was the manager also came to ask how our dinner went & kindly explained and apologized for slower service. We ordered boneless wings and combo wings & drumsticks with sides of pickled radish and fries. The chicken was crispy & extremely juicy but I wished for a little bit more sauce. The pickled radishes tasted a little watered down for my liking. Fries could've been fried a bit longer as towards the bottom of the basket were soggy and not as crisp. Otherwise the ones at the top were crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside! A random note that parking is limited to the street with meters. Monday-Saturday up until 6 pm you have to pay but after 6 it's free so I would keep that in mind. For some reason I decided to get fried chicken two nights in a row...my cholesterol will forgive me tomorrow. I have had Bonchon a few times since moving to Houston and have always gotten the wings. To me, the wings were on the expensive side, small, and the fries were meh. BUT, today I switched it up and got the Wings & Drums combo and it was a game changer. The double fried Korean chicken is sooo tasty and has a fantastic crunch. I typically get half and half soy garlic and spicy, and still don't have a preference. What made this experience better was the drums. They are large, moist, and just way more chicken than your typical wing. I am pretty sure that the small wing meal and the small wing & drum combo are around the same price--I definitely recommend going with the combo because it made the meal more filling, and honestly the drums are just all around better. I visited the restaurant for the first time today and it was very nice inside--lots of TVs and a nice big bar. The waiting staff were all INCREDIBLE. Will definitely be back. read more

If you want other Korean dishes, I absolutely do not recommend Bonchon. As a disclaimer, I base this off only trying one other dish, their bulgogi "bibimbap." Not only was it nothing like bibimbap, but it was also quite gross. The rice was like little, cold hard styrofoam pellets. There was a heaping pile of cold spongy egg strips. And sautéed diced mushrooms??? And flavorless chopped beef. And no red gochujang sauce. And like, not any sauce at all. And a bunch of cold romaine lettuce...? I dunno. I generally like Americanized-Asian cuisines if they taste good, but this was so bad. And being Korean, I was particularly disappointed. But again, chicken was aight. Also I'm not a fan of the sports bar feel, but that's just a personal preference. All the employees were very friendly and no issues with the service. read more

The wings were juicy, the breading wasn't overpowering but also still really crispy. The fries were fresh (not cardboardy/frozen soggy).
