I've been going since they had they opened at the end of May of 2018. We went in for the soft opening. I knew they had some problems so I wanted to wait a few month. Well let's fast forward a year. I'm happy to say they have improved a lot and their food has been consistent. Although they sometimes they sneak in a few leftover (not so fresh) wings when I order takeout. I can tolerate that since it doesn't happen all the time. Going back to the beginning. The pictures are from June 2018 after a few days of opening. We were disappointed in a few thing. A lot of items did not taste right. It's what we expected since most new Korean BonChon restaurants are owned by Chinese people and cooked by non Asian-Americans likes this one. Korean people would know that each ingredient that goes into the stone pot BiBimBap needs to be seasoned and marinated. The ones we received were plain raw ingredients and none of them were seasoned (ie.raw carrots). The chicken was pretty bad at the beginning. After a few months they got better. Got an order of bone-in wings, an order of boneless wings, and some extra kimchi through UberEats. Tracking the order status through the app, it seems they prepare food fairly quickly. Both sets of wings were really good, although the half-soy half-spicy is spicier than it sounds. The flavors are very nice and the meat is crispy on the outside, although all the wings were smaller than I expected. I would order from this place again. read more

Bonchon is a favorite among our household. We like that extra spicy flavor chicken that you can only really get at a Korean fried chicken place. We always get a large order of half and half in any style that suites our mood. When we dine in we usually will order a salmon avocado ball. We used to frequent the Ellicott city location when we lived in Howard County. This location doesn't live up to expectations as often. The food quality is inconsistent. It seems like they par fry the chicken because the chicken comes out alot faster than most locations. You can tell something is not quite the same. Part of why we liked bonchon in the past is that the chicken was always cooked to order and not refried to order. It takes alot longer at other locations but is worth the wait. With this being so close to home we will continue to go. It is a franchise so not to much changes from location to location. If I lived equal distances between this location and another this would be my second choice. read more

Updated Dec 2018: Still some growing pains getting started, but service has been great about making things right. Food is excellent and well-portioned. They still don't seem that busy, but hopefully popular enough to stick around. The location is convenient and quiet compared to some others in the area. Definitely recommend giving them a try. So glad when new food places pop up around here. I appreciate the diversity! Chicken was good and crispy and the soy garlic sauce is very tasty with not too overpowering, overdrowning sometimes like Chinese places have their chicken. The homemade coleslaw was especially good paired with it. There were many other things that looked delicious on the menu. They have bulgogi and things like pork buns and potstickers, too. I am a fan of Bonchon since trying it at a friend's suggestion in Virginia. I am not expecting it to taste like authentic Korean food. If you expect that, then don't try "Chinese" food! The chicken was so delicious and I am always a fan of the pickled radish. The staff was super nice, giving my daughter and me glasses of water while we waited the 15 minutes for our food. I usually don't right reviews or rate restaurants but I couldn't help myself this time. This is the absolute worst Korean food I have ever had to pay for. The service was apparently nonexistent other than to bring the food out in Togo only packaging. Apparently for Covid reasons even though no one on the observed staff wore masks, gloves or practiced social distancing. There for chalk it up to just being lazy and cheep. Wouldn't even take our order without a phone number. read more

First time ever being in Bonchon and I was totally impressed! Last Sunday went to Pizza Hut to get Hubby wings and OMG what a shameful mess those Wings were something that looked like someone had chew on no meat! They were gross but I returned them and got my money back and I went into Liquor store and was telling nice guy cashier bout those Wings at Pizza Hut and he said omg cause I had taken pic of them and had showed him he said you need to go to Bonchon at end of Shopping center next to Dollar Tree he said they have the biggest juiciest Wings he has ever eaten and for me to definitely try them I won't be disappointed! And that guy was so right went there today and service was excellent and wings were perfection also comes with choice of either cole slaw or pickled radishes! I got the radishes and they were delish too! I will definitely be getting them again when we need Chicken Wings! But I want to go there for lunch one day to check out other foods cause if it weren't for that guy telling bout that place I would of never went in that Restaurant ever! So see ya soon! The food is good however the customer service is subpar. I placed 2 orders of potstickers (1 spicy & 1 garlic soy ) with a side of sauce for $.95. When picking up I checked the order & noted my sauce wasn't included. At that time I was informed they don't offer sauce on the side but brush additional on top. Be aware of this policy! i was not told about this when ordering. The spicy sauce on the side was for my hubby to dip if needed. When I called the restaurant to indicate the spicy potstickers were too spicy for me. They said we told you the extra sauce was on top when you picked up and offered to refund the $.95 for the additional sauce. This has got to be the worst Bonchon location ever. Husbabd ordered takeout tonight and: - there were lots of empty tables that had not been cleared off or cleaned. - staff was very rude - chicken strips were very small. For what we paid, it was a serious rip off. Once again, Chick fil a strips are bigger than what we received - daikon pickles were terrible. Diced into tiny pieces and tasted like sugar water. Not a hint of vinegar - bulldak was very watery, skimped on the rice cakes and the chicken pieces were very few and diced small - the steamed rice was undercooked, part mushy, part raw and gritty This place will not be getting any more business from me, my family or my friends! read more

I came to know about Bonchon by visiting the one in canton ( which is closed now ). Since this location is closest to where I live I was excited to try this location . Needless to say I'm very disappointed. I ordered the drums and the pork belly buns . The chicken seemed to be a little under cooked and a little pink inside . The pork belly buns came out with with cold buns and a tough piece of pork . The wait staff were nice and attentive and I really wanted to like this place but today was a bust. read more

This place is legit. Had the wings to start. Great care went into these wings, that's all I can really say. Seafood bipmbop for me, Korean tacos for the lady friend. Everything was well seasoned, sauces were excellent and service was top notch. The manager/owner welcomed us in, asked if we had any food questions, and checked on our food taste once we received it. Late on a Sunday I picked up bone-in wings instead of strips and didn't realize it until they were closed. The following Saturday I had my order delivered due to weather and here's where things get ridiculous, I once again received bone-in wings instead of the strips I had ordered, and when I called back to tell them the owner/manager required me to send photos to them to prove I had the wrong order. Then on the following Tuesday, I ordered boneless wings for pickup and was called back and yelled at by the owner/manager that I should have been charged for the strips I picked up to fix my order on Sunday and I will not have the credit on my order that I just called in. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced from a restaurant, and I would give this a 0.5 stars or 0 stars if I could. read more

We came last night for dinner after a soccer game. It was our first time here in this Pasadena location...so we were excited since we live just around the corner!! We ordered a number of items from potstickers, shrimp shumai, pork sliders, bulgogi tacos, chicken tenders, and chicken wings. My husband complained that the spicy sauce on the potstickers were too spicy...and feared that the wings he ordered were going to be the same. He was right. My son said the spicy sauce from the Arundel Mills location wasn't as spicy as this on here at the Pasadena location. So there are differences in sauce recipes at both of these locations. My wings: the soy garlic, tasted great! But they came later than my family's wings and tenders, so while half of my wings were piping hot...the others were obviously sitting out longer and not very hot to the touch...temperature-wise. I was a little disappointed since they forgot my order and the server who brought it out went to every table before coming to my table...lol. Potstickers were my daughter's favorite and my youngest son liked the wings. He preferred the wings over the chicken tenders because the tenders weren't as juicy. I tried one...and he was right...they were tough to chew. The shrimp shumai were awesome! The pork sliders and tacos went pretty quick (but my hubs said the tacos had way too much sauce)...the big boys ate all of that...annnd...by the end of dinner, there were a total of 2 spicy wings and 2 soy garlic tenders left. I'd say we did a great job clearing out the food last night!! lol We'll be coming back. read more

Used to be my favorite place for takeout and after tonight I will never go back. It all started when I called to place my order and was immediately put on hold. I was leaving work and heading straight there, knowing I would arrive a little before the food was ready. However, I arrived BEFORE I WAS EVER EVEN TAKEN OFF HOLD. At this point, I just hung up and walked in. There were only 2 tables with people at them and the two workers I saw blatantly ignored the fact that I was standing at the counter. When someone finally came over and I was able to place my order, I asked about how long it would be. The girl looked at me like a deer in headlights and then finally came up with 15 minutes. When I finally got home and took a bite of my potstickers, I knew they were not what I've had in the past. I called and told them they had given me the vegetable potstickers instead of the pork (which happened about a month ago, but I didn't bother to call back then). They told me to bring them back and they'd get me pork ones. When I got there they told me there are no vegetable potstickers and these were a new pork recipe. I pulled these apart and they had NO visible pork in them. They offered to make new ones but told me they would be exactly the same as the ones I already had. So I refused and went home to eat my mushy, soggy, vegetable filled, pork-lacking potstickers. If it was only the potstickers that were bad, I may have been able to move on and choose something else on the menu next time. But due to the horrible service, there definitely won't be a next time for me. read more

Always misses an item in the order. Always the cheapest item on the order too like they want to see if customers are willing to just let it go. Ellicot City one is the only worthwhile one going to. All these other branches are just degraded quality in staff and food items.
