This store just opened in September. We were craving for wings and found this place on Yelp. Our dinner was absolutely delicious and crispy. We thoroughly enjoyed the chicken. Won't go wrong with any of the flavors or even as plain. Love the crunch and each piece has the perfect crispiness to each bite. While the wings aren't big, there was some meat and quite tasty. Greetings my Foodzies, today I had a taste for fried chicken. We went to Bonchon Korean fried chicken at 5237 w Touhy Ave in Skokie. The restaurant was small but interesting, they had a street view on the wall which had an almost 3D affect. We were greeted warmly by Kevin and Siv, a couple awesome guys; friendly, personable and helpful. Basic table seating. We wanted to get a variety so we ordered some Korean street corn much like the Mexican street corn elotes only with a twist, some added chili flakes very tasty. Bulgogi fries (bulgogi meat over crispy fries with mozzarella scallions and an awesome spicy mayo) flavorful but the mayo was the highlight. We also had the Mix 2 drumsticks and 6 wings split between 2 sauces, Korean BBQ which was a little tangy and the Spicy sauce it had a hint of heat but for me could be a little spicier. The chicken is double fried (lightly breaded and fried then allowed to cool for a few minutes then fried again. This kept th chicken juicy and made the skin extra crispy. We also had the coleslaw which was crunchy and had the right amount of sauce. They did a unique thing, the plates were aluminum carry out trays so if you don't finish your food, put a cover on it and you are good to go. I give this restaurant 5 stars because of it completeness everything from the employees to the cleanliness of the restaurant. I highly recommend this restaurant. The extra star was for the spicy sauce being the only comparable taste to the regular bonchon restaurant I go to. I decided to try them out after a long day, and felt stuck waiting far longer on my order than it should take. Wish I cancelled it; the chicken (while still deliciously spicy ) had some moments of rubbery chewiness; There was no juice in the pickled radish container, so the cubes were dry and soft... no crunch... I don't know how to feel when this was something I was very much looking forward to At least one of the four wait staff members seemed apologetic about the long wait time, but I do not think this is the best representative of a bonchon, so I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

Back in the day I used to like going to Bonchon , the original, being in Chinatown Chicago but haven't been here before so I ordered a tray of chicken wings 1/2 plain and have with garlic soy sauce. It was Super Bowl Sunday and I was so embarrassed when I brought it to the party. Their wings were so small and not like I remembered. This is a real shame. They are not cheap and the wings I expected were far from good. The sauce was okay. I should have gone to the Korean wing place on Dempster. I've learned my lesson. read more

I was at village crossing and wanted to grab something for lunch in that area and this place popped up when I was looking on Yelp. It looked different and the food looked good too so I thought I'd give it a try and glad I did! I orders the six piece wing/drumstick meal with coleslaw and tye spicy sauce. I have a fairly good tolerance for spice and was very happy with the spice level of the wings! It had a nice but without being too overpowering where you couldn't taste the food. The chicken was pretty tender and the breading was so crunchy and delicious. It was very unique to other breading I've had on chicken. It came with a side of cole slaw too which I haven't tried yet but it looks good. I was pretty full as you get a generous portion of meat on each wing. I'm excited to go back and try the other items on their menu especially the noodles and the Korean donuts! read more

Secondly...I give them FOUR STARS for their counter help, one individual lost them a star, he shouldn't have been in a position to deal with people! I was so excited to try something new - Korean Chicken. The staff was friendly and helpful, but everything is ala carte. The average bill for 2 is about $50 - is the food worth that amount of money for fast food - I don't think so. The food was tasty - but their menu states pork potstickers - but they no longer serve them - only vegetarian potstickers. They were tasty but I prefer the pork one. The fact that you pay $11.95 for a chicken sandwich without fries is very expensive. Would I visit them again - probably not - I just think they are to expensive for fast food. read more

This place is awesome. The food was really good, I had the spicy wings combo with rice and coleslaw. Everything was good, the wings were not overly breaded, and the spice level is just right. Complete disaster :( I ordered for delivery and the bonchon staff made a big mistake of bagging the wrong food with the wrong ticket. We received our bag with the right food ticket but the contents were completely wrong. Not even one item was correct. We ordered 20 wings, shareable fries, and radish. We received potstickers, boneless chicken, coleslaw, and Parmesan fries. What? How? We had to walk in the rain to get to the store to have them fix our order. Then the staff blamed the mistake on the innocent food delivery people. When all grub hub had to do was pick up the bag with our name and order, but the error was the food inside the bag was wrong. So the staff didn't pack it right and didn't double check it. Accountability would've been nice. They apologized and we waited for them to remake our food but someone out there for the wrong order too/our food. We go to bonchon in San Diego all the time but this visit to this particular location during our trip was a mess. Sadly, no accountability means no insight or awareness on the mistake. Crispy soy garlic wings at Bonchon cannot be beat. When I first tried these bad boys, I was in heaven. The juicy chicken, the flavor of the sauce, and the crispy layer of the fried chicken was immaculate. We got corn on the side as well which was great too.
