I've visited the Hilltop Bonchon a handful of times since it opened in November 2022 and the vibe is laid back, laid back to the point where, as a customer, you may find yourself checking your watch multiple times. One thing this location has going for it over the Norfolk Bonchon is that parking is readily available. When I originally pulled up, there was such ample parking that I felt like taking up 2 or 3 spots. You don't have to worry about parking at all - something I have to account for whenever I'd visit downtown Norfolk. Upon entering, their venue is roomy. The bar alone looks bigger than the entirety of the Norfolk Bonchon (not really, but Norfolk is small) and there are plenty of tables, seats and TVs. Based on the setup, this would be an ideal place to watch a game while eating some fantastic fried chicken. Service is maybe this Bonchon's biggest hurdle. The quality of service, based on my experience, has been hit and miss. Often times, the most you'll be doing is waiting as I've experienced employees who are new, don't move with any urgency, and/or simply don't listen. During one visit, our server was still in training when they decided to let her help us by herself. That resulted in us receiving incorrect orders, and something as simple as refills went unfulfilled for long periods of time. When her trainer took over, things went more smoothly, but the damage was done. To balance that out, I dined by myself one Sunday afternoon and there was only 1 server on the floor. That server was on top of things - he knew the menu, offered and explained the menu, and helped me throughout, even hooking up silent refills. That was an excellent experience, good enough to keep this Bonchon within my Hilltop rotation. Combined with 1 or 2 solid visits, this Bonchon is overall good to go. I will still stick with the notion that service is inconsistent, but at the same time I haven't seen a single employee twice (meaning turnover here is high). Final note - it's never been busy during any of my visits, so I don't know how well they're doing here. Mind you, I've never come in on a Friday or Saturday night but I fear that this Bonchon might not make it long term. Regardless, their chicken is excellent (albeit pricey). Thank you, Bonchon! The food is always amazing, the chicken are always the perfect crisp and the flavors are like no other. They're always so accommodating with me and my friends whether when they are catering, just dining or when there are events going on. Also, I would not have frequent this place as much as I do know if it weren't for the events they host!! The place have great seating, so many seating it can accommodate a lot of people. Even when busy they do their best especially when they hosted run clubs in the area

First time for this newer location in the Hilltop Shoppes of VB for a late lunch. Plenty of surface parking is available and no debris in sight. Signage is in front and rear. A hostess greeted me for a weekday lunch and provided a menu. The $10.99 special was a draw to have me try them out. I was seated in a booth and drink order was taken. The dining room is quite large and was clean. A bar is available can seat around ten. I also utilized the men's room which was overall good with minor debris on the floor. They were not busy. My waitress brought water and I immediately ordered the lunch special which consisted of three chicken legs, fries and a churro. The timing was around 20 minutes, not bad. My drummies were huge and hot! Fries were were adequate quality and churro a smaller taste. The drumsticks were the hero and was the value of the lunch. Everything else was pretty good. My waitress followed up and I got a water refill and requested more napkins. A check was dropped off when finished and processed quickly. The value was obviously awesome! I will try to return this Summer.

Food and customer service are unmatched. The chicken is crispy and delicious. The variety is great too so there's something for everyone.

Bonchon is a tasty option for a quick lunch. The staff are all friendly, the chicken is crispy, and the French fries are some of the only ones I've ever tried that are actually good cold. I would definitely recommend.

This place is amazing. We're here for a private event right now and the atmosphere is absolutely perfect. The video games in the front are pretty cool and retro. Gotta love that for sure. The food is definitely good quality no doubt about that and the staff is absolutely amazing The owner looks like he really cares and the bartender is a solid individual as well. Definitely coming back to this place.

My boss was hyping this place up talking about it's the best Korean fried chicken spot in the 757. I do love me some fried chicken so I wanted to give it a try. My first impression of this place was it looks clean and brand new. I do love the four arcade games in the waiting area. I ordered the 8 pc wings small which comes with coleslaw, the two flavors I got were the Yangnyeom and Korean BBQ sauce. One thing for sure was that my boss wasn't lying it was really delicious. One thing that I don't like though is that these wings don't come with fires you'll have to order that separately. It's also kinda expensive for my liking but it's not too bad. The waitress we had she was super helpful and friendly.

Military and First Responders receive their 10% with valid badge or identification to exclude alcohol. Always a good way to start your visit !!! With plenty of seating area and a large bar you will be directed to your table as soon as you walk in. Now you can enjoy that Soju shot and a draft beer for $8.95 or four classic chicken strips with fries for $10.99. Specials do change from time to time so do check for new promotions. Now to the menu items, like them soy garlic wings which are always so delicious and crunchy. Or the Bulgogi which is another of my favorites, so so delicious with some seasoned zucchini fries or seasoned fries. Another must try are the loaded Bulgogi fries or the Korean Tacos (Spicy Chicken, or Marinated Ribeye). And you can also enjoy your Korean Donuts or Mochi Ice Cream for sweet deserts. Also check for future events like Karaoke, and family events.

I haven't been back to Bonchon Korean fried chicken from the Norfolk location since 2011 because I do not drive to norfolk at all. Even when I go there to with my bf who was here during 2020 it was closed at the time. when they were opening one here in Virginia Beach I came here and got the bulgogi bibimbap and lunch soy garlic wings and season fries and as well as a drink to go. I think having the quinoa was ok. the beef bulgogi was very nice and marinated. The rice was good rest of the veggies were good. I don't think I ever had mushrooms in bibimbap but I also thought it was nice. The soy garlic wings I haven't had them since 2011 so I thought the soy garlic flavor wasn't as good as back than although it is still crispy and good. The season fries were good. The pickled radish came with the lunch menu. Pickled radish is refreshing. The service was helpful, very nice and friendly. The place just opened at 11am so it was just me in there and so it was pretty clean and big and spacious. Offered me to give me a free drink while waiting but i ask if they had a to go large drink cup, but didn't have one so I bought a bottle drink. I would recommend it to others.

False advertisement. I saw the $1 wing deal on their website. Went there on Tuesday but I was told there didn't have $1 wing on Tuesday. We even showed the waiter the deal, but she denied it and still didn't even give us that.

I picked up an order to go and this was the 1st time I was in this location in Hilltop. It's in a shopping center so there is plenty of parking. I was very surprised at the inside. I thought it would be smaller....more take out. But they had a FULL BAR!!! And Happy Hour!!!! Whaaatttt????? Plenty of seating at the bar and also dining room tables. They even had video games for the "kids." We got food for our office which included Potstickers, Fried Rice and Wings.....Soy Garlic and Spicy. The order was ready to go. Food was delicious. Hot and fresh. We scarfed it down. We love the potstickers. The spicy wings have a nice kick that I liked but not those that don't like spicy. I definitely want to go back and check out the chicken katsu or Bibimbap or the Korean Tacos. They have a bar!!! And Happy Hour!!!! Check them out. :)

    Very very dry wings
    Krisha B.

We had a very disappointing experience the other night. I ordered a small 8 count wing with the beef bulgogi bibimbap. These two items totaled a little over $30 which is pretty typical for two entrees. To my understanding, the wings are double fried and supposed to be very crunchy but what we got we're super, super dry. You can see in the pictures how dehydrated and small they are. The beef bulgogi was delicious but the sides that come in the bibimbap were disappointing. The quinoa was undercooked and crunchy. The veggie sides tasted wilted and bland. Not sure if I would take the drive all the way back to Hilltop to try again just for this. I know they have lots of interesting options like bulgogi fries buuut I was disappointed by the super dry and small chicken wings, which should've been the star of the show.

Well, I had an incredible lunch experience at Wang Jiang Lou that made my day! It all began with the warm welcome, followed by incredible service table side and even as I left the team made me feel good (More later!). Whoever designed this restaurant knows something about creating an escape from the world experience. The paneling, table settings, lighting, and every inch of the dining area allowed me to take a deep breath escaping from a hectic hot and humid Virginia Beach weekday hustle! The $16 lunch is a bargain! Offering several impressive entrees plus soup. I am extremely particular about Hot and Sour soup and this bowl was delicious with a subtly of flavors and a pleasant silky texture. I consumed every last drop and returned a clean bowl! I chose Yu Xiang Pork as my entree, which my waitress said was one of the top two favorites along with the pork belly. She said she would give the Yu Xiang Pork the edge. She was right because I loved this dish! I like heat and this offered heat. I like varied texture and this had a range of textures. I want flavor that makes you eat everything served and this delicious lunch offering succeeded. For the price I was so impressed with the variety of mushrooms!! The cherry on top for this visit (No, I didn't get an ice cream sundae.) was the warm thank you's PLURAL that I received from the people up front as I left. Their smiles were beaming at me and they genuinely made me feel like they were happy I came in for a $16 lunch. I said with a wink that I was going to the kitchen to see if they would provide the same smiles of thanks and was told that they would (No, I didn't go to find out.). Clearly a great team serving delicious food in an awesome setting made me wish I lived in Virginia Beach but then I stepped outside into the heat, humidity and hectic world that this FIVE STAR restaurant named Wang Jiang Lou made me forget about for an hour.

It's on the 23rd floor of the Marriott as soon as I arrived I saw that they offer valet parking so I opted into doing that. Then I was instructed to go to 23rd floor to enter the rooftop. Luckily we made a reservation because Orion's roof is known for always being busy and you might have a long wait. However once you met with the hostess, she took us to our table. We sat towards the back of the restaurant with the view of the oceanfront, which is gorgeous. They also have seating on the actual like outside rooftop where they have fire pits, and you can overlook the ocean as well as the city. However, as soon as we sat down, our waitress came over she explained the menu it is a Asian cuisine restaurant so they were out a lot of Asian cuisine options she also gave us a drink menu and she needs suggestions. I forget what type of drinks that I got, but they were delicious. I believe the first one was a pomegranate martini. The second drink was another pomegranate martini and the third drink was espresso martini. Once my friend arrived we decided to order appetizers. The first appetizer I ordered was the oysters which were fresh oysters with lemon, hot sauce, vinegar, horseradish, any type of topping that you would like my friend ordered their muscles, which came in this really good brown broth with bao buns. The broth was so delicious. He had to drink it like soup. Once all the muscles were gone. The muscles were cooked to perfection very well seasoned very well cooked not chewy just very delectable the oysters or chefs kiss they were very, very delicious flavorful and cooked to the right temperature. Next, we ordered our entrées. I ordered the Bronzino fish that came came with rice and a vegetable my friend ordered I think the Atlantic cod which also came with vegetables and rice. We did not order dessert, but we did order a espresso martini. The espresso martini was great. We asked for Baileys to make it a little more smoother and sweet, and it was also recommendation from our waitress. The ambience was to die for from the views the music playing in the background the upbeat waitresses and waiters are moving around the restaurant. It was very like high class and fancy restaurant so that was that was really nice. Overall, it was a great experience. I really enjoyed it. I wish I would've known about this rooftop earlier in my space at the Hilton oceanfront but I definitely will return. I suggest if you were in the area and you want to try rooftop and you wanna have like a little classy evening or good dinner that's not typically just seafood. I suggest trying out this roof top. You will not be disappointed. Cheers.

Everything else would have to be pretty bad to overshadow it. Fortunately, the food complements the view. It was excellent. I had the branzino, which was delicious, and my wife had the short ribs, which were excellent as well. But I think that's where "excellent" and above ends. Our waitress was good and provided solid service, but I think the service overall could--and should--be better. The real letdown was the reservation process. We were a group of six and had reservations. When we arrived, we waited about 10-15 minutes before being directed to the sushi bar. Who makes reservations for six people at a sushi bar? That shouldn't even be an option for a party of six. To their credit, the waitstaff pulled together a section for us in the bar area after another 15-20 minute wait. Unfortunately, it was an awkward setup for six people trying to converse and have a good time. We asked if we could be moved to the empty section next to us, but were told those tables were reserved for parties of two. No problem--that sounds plausible. The problem is, those tables stayed empty for the entirety of our visit. The drinks were average as well. Anytime I order an Old Fashioned and it comes with regular ice cubes instead of one large cube, I already know what's coming. The ice melts too quickly and waters the drink down. Orion's Roof could--and should--be an easy five-star dining experience, but it falls short. The good news is that most of the issues holding it back seem relatively easy to fix.

The owner is super sweet, she brought out new items for us to try that she'll be adding to the menu soon. The crab rangoon fries and crab rangoon wonton nachos.. We didn't have to wait long for our food. I was satisfied with that. Korean corn dogs: the garlic butter was tasty on the corn dog, and the regular one was good also with both sauces. You can choose cheese, hotdog, or half and half!! I always enjoy them!! Fries: they were crispy and tasted fresh! The crab rangoon fries were good also. They had scallions, crab, and rangoon cream cheese sauce. The rangoon cream cheese sauce is delicious. We also added a little siracha sauce, which was just enough spice to make it pop. The wonton nachos had the same toppings as the fries. I really enjoyed the wonton chips!! I'd definitely get them again. I had leftovers and the wonton chips were still crispy. Chicken sandwich: it had kimchi cucumbers and honey siracha sauce. It was good and also on the $5 deals menu. Good deal! Cookie butter milkshake: we both liked the drink. The cookie butter taste came through good. My daughter was a little confused because it didn't have ice cream like a milkshake would. So it's more of a thick milk based kind of drink. But I did enjoy it. Mango lemonade: this drink was refreshing. It had just enough sweetness. It comes in a pint sized container. There's mango, watermelon, and strawberry. You can also add boba for an upcharge. Very tasty!! Cookie butter croffle: Mmmm! My daughter loved it, she left me one bite. Lol. This is one of my top flavors!! First and last time here!…read more I was looking for a quick bite and found this place on Yelp. They had pretty good reviews, but I should have trusted the lower-rated ones. When I arrived, I was one of three people in the entire restaurant. Two people were dining in, and I was ordering my food to go. I wasn't greeted or anything, which was the first red flag. The cashier was about to take my order but then decided that I can just order on the kiosk; however, you can't pay on the kiosk, so that didn't make any sense to me. I decided to go with the soy garlic six-piece wings. They cook them to order, so there was a 15-minute wait. I sat at one of the six empty tables in the restaurant. A white woman walked in and wanted to dine in. Instead of her choosing another empty table, the cashier said that since I was ordering my food to go, I could sit somewhere else. This was extremely unnecessary and racist. My blood was boiling at this point, and I wished I could have canceled my order and gotten a refund. While the food came out hot, I did not enjoy the smell once I opened it. It had a weird odor, which made it hard for me to enjoy the meal. The chicken also lacked a lot of flavor. They rely heavily on the sauce, which isn't even balanced. I ordered soy garlic, and all I could taste was sugar. I couldn't even finish all of my food. Also, the wings are big, which I am not a fan of. Overall, this entire experience was awful, and for these reasons, I will not be returning and cannot recommend this place.

That said, while I enjoy many of the specialty flavors, I still find myself preferring traditional lumpia. That's more a matter of personal taste than a criticism of the food itself. The fusion flavors are good and worth trying, especially if you're looking for something different. The staff has always been friendly, and the overall experience has been positive every time we've visited. If you're a lumpia fan, it's definitely worth checking out. Even if you end up like me and still prefer the original, you'll probably find a few new favorites along the way.

This was a great dining experience with great food, a nice atmosphere and a very good server!…read more We stopped into try a few bites and loved the food that we tried: The mojo pork taco The shredded Jamaican jerk chicken taco The spring rolls Everything had great flavor and was fresh! Want to go back and try more of their delicious food! It's not overly large inside so coming at an off time (right at 4) we were able to get a seat but I bet it can get busy! They do have outside dining so if it's not too hot or cold there is that option!

The restaurant was fairly empty, with only three other tables occupied, so we were surprised by the length of the wait. Our two canned Sapporos didn't arrive until about 30 minutes after ordering. The shrimp sandwich took approximately 45 minutes, and the Vang rolls arrived after about an hour. After waiting an hour, we were informed that the garlic shrimp for our garlic noodles was unavailable, despite it being part of our original order. Unfortunately, the Vang rolls were so salty that we couldn't finish them. Throughout the meal, our water glasses were never refilled, and there was little communication about the delays or unavailable menu items. After roughly 90 minutes of waiting, multiple delays, and learning that several items were unavailable, we decided to pay for what we had received the two Sapporos, the shrimp sandwich, and the Vang rolls, which came to about $70. Perhaps we visited on an off night, but the combination of the slow service, poor communication, unavailable menu items, and disappointing food quality made for a frustrating experience. Based on this visit, I don't see myself returning. +1 Vibe +0 Taste +0 Presentation +0 Service +0 Value
