My order sat at the counter for at least 15 mins before they tried to bring it to me. Again, I ask for a refund. The reason for coming inside for my order was to get it hot. Our waitress Kasey was the BEST she was very helpful, nice and attentive she provided exceptional customer service. We lucked up and came out to try them on a Tuesday which is 3 dollar tacos. We tried 3 different flavors, spicy, bulgogi and soy garlic and they were top notch meat perfectly cooked, seasoned and everything on the taco tasted nice and the ingredients so so fresh. We also tried the Korean fried chicken in two flavors one flavor was the soy garlic and the other flavor can't remember but babee those legs were so big and juicy and flavorful and that crunch is unmatched. I loved that crunch. We also tried the pork buns excellent also. Bulgogi fries were the best the meat was perfectly seasoned and tender, the fries were nice, seasoned and crispy that was a match made in heaven. For dessert we were blessed with the Korean donut it was to die for so light , soft and perfectly sweetened and the sauce perfecto. We will definitely be back. Thank the maker, I don't have to deal with downtown Norfolk to get my BonChon fix. New location is big and clean, plenty of room and tons of tables. Service was very slow; especially for a Thursday, but the food is great and the staff were very friendly and did what they could to keep it moving. As it's a new location still working thru the bugs; I'm sure, in time it will all work out. They were pushing a lot of mobile orders out so that service (while great during pandemic) is really cutting into the in-restaurant dining experience. Ordered boneless chicken last night. It was near closing time but Uber Eats processed the order. Food takes a bit and is delivered. Mid meal, I find not one but two shorter, thick hairs in the chicken. This either came from someone's pubic region or it came from a rat. It is a WHISKER of sorts. Thick at beginning and thins out like my cat's whiskers do but shorter like whiskers on a rat would be. Not sure if some clowinsh, sick employee is playing a joke, if there's rats in the kitchen, etc. I'm not a picky person but this is the nastiest thing I've ever experienced. Bon Chon as a chain cost an arm and leg already and to have a disgusting foreign object TWICE on two different pieces of chicken? Come on now. It was on top of the already sauced chicken too, so it was almost certainly placed there right before closing the box. Some sinister jokes being played by the staff. Not only did Uber Eats say they wont provide a refund, they advised I complain to Bon Chon. So, here we are, letting folks know there's hairs and whiskers in the chicken at the Hiltop location. I've never had BonChon chicken before even though Ive heard great things about it. I went to their soft opening and had the dumplings for an appetizer and an 8 wing combo for my main meal. The dumplings were nice and crispy, soft on the inside. My wings were half soy ginger / hot with coleslaw on the side. First of all the CRUNCH is amazing even when the wings started to cool off. Next the hot is really HOT! My mouth was on fire and I needed the coleslaw slaw to cool things off. The place is very clean, with a relaxed atmosphere and Aeric our server was amazing! I knew as soon as I stepped in the doors, I was going to have a great meal. The soy garlic and spicy wings are amazing. The crunch and taste is like no other wing I've tried. The ribeye in the bulgogi was full of flavor and tender. The pork potstickers were yummy as well. I promise you will not be disappointed. Our server Aeric was great! I've put off writing this review for too long. Bonchon is arguably one of my favorite restaurants period so when it opened in hilltop I was very excited to say the least. First off, I have almost nothing negative to say about the food. Everything I've ever had has been good and the wings are unmatched by any other wings I've ever had. I always order the ttekboki and it's always different. I've gotten smaller portions and missing ingredients more than once unfortunately. Other than that though food is perfect. That all being said, the quality of the food is completely overshadowed by the long wait times. I've ordered to go at least 5 times from this location and have never waited less than an hour for my food. In fact, the last time I ordered it was a solid hour and a half from order time to the time the food was brought out which to me is just unacceptable. The wait time in itself makes it more worthwhile to just order from the Norfolk location and make the drive. Management please hire more cooks or preps or anyone to help expedite the food wait times because when there's 1 table, 1 server, and 5 people waiting 30+ minutes in the lobby for to go orders on a Sunday at 7pm a better system should happen. read more
