Had dinner there a week ago The food was excellent -- my husband had codfish and I had sea bass The ambiance was excellent The service was a major problem Upon our arrival, our waiter named Glo soon brought our glasses of wine to our booth But he did not bring the cup of ice cubes we had requested Then Glo moved to the front of the dining room, leaned over a low partition and chatted with a young couple for about 20 minutes while we waited for him to bring us the customary warm bread with olive oil So I asked a waitress to tap Glo on the shoulder and return to take our food orders We watched her do that but Glo didn't move So i called the maitre for the night, Brady,on my cell phone He promptly answered and came by to apologize Shortly after that Glo came to our booth He told us that he had five tables to serve (which apparently was too many in his opinion) and he took our food orders He also delivered bread and oil But it had not been warmed So we told him to take it back, replace it with warm bread & oil, and bring the ice cubes we had requested He did that but he forgot to bring us the two teaspoons we had asked for And he had to be reminded to bring each one of us a second glass of wine we had asked for Finally we received the spoons, our salads, and ultimately our hot food with our second glasses The entire process was extremely wearisome Despite that, my kind husband gave Glo a tip of about 23%, which I felt Glo had not at all deserved read more

We have always liked Bonefish, but we're very disappointed with our visit yesterday. Our server was great but the menu has really changed. Sadly a group of 8 of us had a terrible experience for my birthday dinner here this past weekend. The service was slow, dirty dishes were left covering our table, i ordered the filet with scallops and shrimp that was on special, it was awful! The scallops were diced which was the strangest thing, shrimp was over cooked and pure rubber. I never complain as im in the service industry but i couldn't justify paying for a nice meal that wasn't edible and not at least mentioning it. My co worker and i both had the same thing and she sent hers back as well. When finally asked how everything was we were honest and they were nice enough to comp our meal but we weren't looking for that, the server seemed more annoyed than anything and the manager couldn't even be bothered to come talk to us until we asked for him. And that was just to be honest and say we were sad this once lovely restaurant has gone so downhill. This is such a great place in town. It is nice to be able to get out of downtown once in a while for good food, and this is a great stop! The service here is fantastic from start to finish. It was pretty busy when I was there and the service didn't suffer at all. The drink that I ordered was a smokey Old Fashioned. They use a smoker to infuse the liquor and bring it to your table with a glass on top of your glass, keeping the smoke trapped in. Very cool experience overall. We ordered the bang-bang shrimp which has to be one of the favorites on the menu. There is no way that there are people out there that do not like this dish! For dinner, I ordered the Spicy Tuna bowl. Overall, it was pretty good. It seemed a little bland to me, but I think it is a dish that would appeal to the masses (and I tend to be a sushi/sashimi/poke snob). read more

I love Bonefish Grill! I have been to this location countless times. I have yet to be disappointed with my food. The service is generally good. This restaurant can be kind of busy, so I recommend getting a reservation to make it easier and cut down on the wait time. Highly recommended several dishes: the crab fries, bang bang shrimp and tacos, the imperial dip, the cod imperial, and many more. Great place for dinner, a date, or a celebration. Bonefish Grill is my go-to chain restaurant in GR for those days when I want consistency and quality. I have dined in a handful of times over the last 7 years and always enjoyed the professional service and casual yet classy atmosphere. I held a social event for a philanthropic group at this location a few years back and was impressed with the outcome mostly due to the ease of working with their staff and management. I also spent a few evenings at the bar following nearby meetings; it's a great place for 30+ folks to have a drink or two and chat without being drowned out by music. The takeout experience using their online ordering is simple and efficient. The option to pay at the restaurant is also nice. The Bang Bang Shrimp are a must and the Kids Meals are an excellent value with just enough variety to be elevated higher than most. read more

Went hear with my girlfriends family. I tried a bowl with uncooked fish and other delicious vegetables, the portion was very large and I was able to bring some home for my mom to try! Our server was fine. No problems and was very smiley. Seemed like a very calm place and the seating was comfortable too with seating that made you feel in private. Bonefish Grill is one of our favorite places to eat......and Mark is our favorite waiter. For the last year and a half we have observed the excellent steps this establishment has taken to insure a safe experience. Tables are staggered, condiments are only brought out if requested, and the staff all wear masks. On this visit I got one of their specials, Pineapple glazed shrimp on a bed of coconut risotto and steamed broccoli. It was perfect. We also enjoyed some of their Bang Bang Shrimp (always a favorite) and of course we gobbled down the crusty bread with herbed oil that was brought out as soon as we sat down. I love this place! I'm never disappointed after leaving here! We made a reservation online which was honored even though we were a few minutes late. Everyone was wearing masks and seated far apart. Our servers were awesome and very patient with us and the food was absolutely delicious. You definitely can't go wrong ordering the bang bang shrimp for an appetizer and I devoured the Chilean sea bass. 10/10 would recommend and visit again and again. read more

We used to love coming here as the opportunity to select from a variety of quality fish is rare. Especially in Grand Rapids MI. The server was very well trained and offered really good service compared to many other understaffed places that have become the norm. UNFORTUNATELY, we had a guest in from out of town and he ordered the fish and chips and so did another in our party. Admittedly our guest was a little over the top as he complained about his meal BUT...it truly was greasy over-battered cod. (Please pick a different fish) Not very good at all. The rest of us had the Mahi Mahi which was a bit overdone (dry) but still good/ok. None of us thought well of our dining experience. I'm sure we'll go and try again but I do suggest the manager(s) take a long look at this operation. No one seemed to care that much from the manager down. Sad read more

I met the owner Mrs. Brown a few weeks ago through work related stuff. I mentioned I hadn't ever been there and Mrs.Brown invited me out for my birthday tonight. Let me say this...from front door staff to the waiters and kitchen staff they are all top tier people. They are happy friendly courteous and just genuinely good people who enjoy their jobs. Mrs.Brown has created a team of workers that make it their goal from the second you walk to ensure you have the best experience imaginable. They have like a little family almost. The waiters are knowledgeable about all the meals. Recommend dishes and drinks and every recommendation was perfect. Very rarely does a restaurant blow me away like this place does. To top it off it was my first time ever trying fish. We got the imperial dip with shrimp and scallops and it was great. I'm so happy my first experience trying fish was at bonefish. The waiter we had was Arion. He is originally from Italy. He is the best waiter you could ask for. He brings this energy to the table that makes you just happy. He shows without trying that he genuinely cares about your experience. I would highly recommend requesting him as your waiter. You can't go wrong with bonefish grill in Grand Rapids regardless. Just wanted to give a shout out to this amazing team. My wife and I were in last night and witnessed a group of young ladies dining out together. We noticed the staff talking to the young ladies and giving words of encouragement. Afterwards, of course I had to ask what was going on, and I found out a little behind the young ladies. It was amazing to see the staff and the manager treat these young ladies so well I spoke to the owner and she informed me it was just something she likes to do. The food was amazing, but I gotta say we weren't focused on eating we were more focused on The staff and how they were treating this table. I wish there were more people in the world that took the time like they did with our youth. Kudos to the team. read more

This place has really gone downhill. We came here a few years ago and thought it was excellent. Tonight, nothing was really any good. We ordered crab cakes which arrived, mushy and lukewarm. They apologized and took them back, and when they came out again, they were now hot, but still a pile of crab mush rather than an actual crabcake. We ordered shrimp and crab scampi over linguini, and it was nearly inedible. The noodles were overcooked and mushy, while the garlic was uncooked and sharp, rather than soft and caramelized as it should be. As for Service, it was better than the food, but not by much. My wife ordered asparagus with her dinner, and they forgot to bring it out until reminded. While I managed to eat about two-thirds of mine--I guess I'm less picky--my wife barely touched hers. A good server would have noticed and asked if we were enjoying the meal. Our waitress said nothing. There's more but i'll leave it at that. We won't be eating here again. read more

Excellent example of failure by too much success. Train wreck from start to finish: 1. Host was incredibly rude 2. Food was terrible- everything was cold. And, not that it matters, but I could have made a better meal! 3. Service was lazy and unpolished. I don't need Michelin service, but you should be able to speak correctly and be a little engaging vs the complete opposite. I will say that the owner was very kind and accommodating. And, yes, it was a busy Saturday night, but that shouldn't matter when you're talking about a expensive dining experience. Oh, and the Cesar salad was the best thing of the night (think about that for one second)! Anyway, save the money and go somewhere else. We will never go back for whatever thats worth. read more

Bonefish grill is one of my favorite chain restraints. They have the most amazing bang bang shrimp! If you like a little spice in your life, I would highly recommend eating them. You can get them as an app or in tacos. I love them both ways! They also give away free bread with oil and pesto to begin your meal, which is an added bonus. If you are looking for a healthy option I would recommend the scallops and shrimp dinner with the mango sauce. Have always loved the food at Bonefish! Great Food and great service, has always been a standard. My most recent visit was terrible, we had a 6pm reservation, arrived at 5:50pm, got seated at 6:50pm. After another 15 minutes we finally placed our drink order. The waitress was very good, but obviously there was a lack of urgency to get customers taking care of as a whole during my visit. Bonefish Grill is always a great place to go for a nice dinner! Some specific things to comment on... -I actually really loved their Caesar salad!! I typically get this type of salad when I go out to dinner, and this was one of my favorites!! -Their crab cakes appetizer was very yummy!! I would have liked there to be some greens with the crab cakes... that is always my favorite way to have it served. However, the sauce gave a little bit of a spicy kick, and I loved it! -For the main course, I got one of the specials that included a filet mignon, scallops, and shrimp. The scallops and shrimp were so yummy, but the filet mignon was just "okay". It was actually pretty fatty and way overcooked for how I ordered it. This is the only reason why I gave this review 4 stars. -There were many desserts to choose from, and all of them were so tasty!! If you're in the Grand Rapids area and looking for a nice place to dine out, I would recommend visiting here!! read more

We ordered the filet and lobster tail which was absolutely delicious and tender being able to cut it with a fork. The salad was also very crisp and wonderful. Our waiter was a riot and was very attentive to our needs. He was Italian and was getting ready to go see his 90y/o mother in Italy so we gave him a big tip for his table excellence. We topped off our meal with a slice of Key Lime Cake which actually melted in our mouths. We had a wonderful time and rated our entire experience as a Top Star 5. This is a chain food seafood place. It's a step above Red Lobster and a step down from Leo's in downtown Grand Rapids. We ordered the Thai coconut shrimp, surf and turf with the 8 oz sirloin and the crusted cod. The shrimp were fantastic as well as the crusty bread and herb oil dip! My lobster wasn't what I was hoping for because it tasted over seasoned and too firm. The steak was pretty standard, maybe slightly over salted but perfectly cooked. The mash potatoes were extremely creamy and tasty. We also tried the Brussels Sprouts and felt they had too much lemon juice and were slightly over cooked. All in all, it was a satisfying meal but not memorable. The staff however was top notch and very attentive. If you have a hankering for seafood but want to avoid the parking nightmare and chaos of downtown GR, this is your spot. Get the coconut shrimp! read more
