Our small town doesn't have a good seafood restaurant so we always travel the 60 mile round trip to visit Bonefish in JC. Our family knows this so we get gift cards regularly for special occasions. After years of exceptional food and service, we have been disappointed with both the last couple of visits. Last night was my birthday dinner but unfortunately we didn't know it was Tequila and Tapas event as well. But service was not good. Kitchen out of fried shrimp at 6:15, so settled for fish instead,husband's French Fries were cold and tasted old and it took 5 minutes to get server back and another 10 to get fresh fries. By that time I was almost finished with my meal so it wouldn't get cold. Chilean sea bass was over cooked and chewy, broccoli was very underdone, and small scoop of garlic potatoes was not as good as we've had before. Certainly not worth $37.50. Only good thing was chowder. Afraid we won't return after many years of loving this restaurant. read more

The employees here are so much nicer than Chick-fil-A employees and that says a lot I pick up doordashes from here quite often and everyone is always super nice. I've been to bonefish in this area a couple times here usually ok not great. We decided to order from here since it was our anniversary and they called us to inform us they were out of an item *cod. When the food was delivered, because of we are in quarantine they decided to give a a "Caesar salad" All we got was lettuce with a note on top saying " we ran out of croutons and cheese". How do you think a bowl of lettuce and nothing else is a salad. At least have the decency to call me next time. read more

I know this is 5 stars and it should mean that everything was perfect in every aspect but not this merry go round. Service, cleanliness, atmosphere was all great but the food was not. Well, atleast my chicken Marsala. My chicken Marsala was sitting in like a Marsala broth if you will. After attempting to correct the sauce for some reason it just would not come out the way it usually does. I don't know if it was the manager or head chef or kitchen manager but he did everything in his power to make things right and was very humble about it! Got me a filet to make things right. Great leadership skills I saw here and was sincere. For that reason I will go back. Bartender "my server" was down to earth and attentive as well. This was our second trip and we were both really excited. I don't eat fish but was stoked about getting the Wagyu burger again. The whole meal was a bust. My partner got fish tacos and she said the sauce was the only really good thing about it. My burger was tough and full of gristle. We were so disappointed. He is in the kitchen making certain the quality is maintained and he finds time to greet his diners soliciting feedback on their dining experience I ate fish tacos at the bar tonight. The best of the best as far as chains are concerned. I have been to a few locations but I was in Johnson City on business and had dinner at this location. The service is excellent. The menu is solid and the food is good. There is a wide selection of wines and cocktails. This location has a great outside patio. As usual, the ingredients are the freshest of any chain and the food is prepared with care. My only complaint, and this is common to other places in the area, is that you can only get here by car. Are there no sidewalks in Johnson City? I was staying at a hotel nearby but ended up having to drive here for the fear of getting run over by a car on my way here. Walking is good for you! Bonefish is one of the reasons I look forward to visiting Johnson City. My local Bonefish is on the other side of town, so this one gives me a much easier chance to get my Bonefish fix. I like to sit near the service bar when dining alone. It lets you really feel the spirit of a place - how happy the wait staff and bartenders are, for example, as they can't seem to resist talking shop in that little corner of the restaurant. At this Bonefish, I learned nothing negative other than maybe they're a little short-staffed, and folks are working more shifts than they'd prefer. They weren't complaining, just commenting on it. But it certainly didn't detract from their service or energy levels. Everything was on point. I inquired about the Fresh Pear Martini, which the bartender said was a "don't miss" - she was right. They puree the fresh pears rather than using one of the ubiquitous syrups that you get in a lot of places. Lively and different, it went down easy. Another one would have been dangerous, so I switched to a glass of Sauvignon Blanc with my entree. Said entree on this occasion was the Atlantic Salmon, which paired perfectly with that glass of wine. First came the house salad, though - love those Hearts of Palm! Word of warning though: if you are dieting be very very careful. While it is seafood, if you get it fried, you are screwed. Watch those sauces as well. Was seated at a high top and waited a good 10 minutes for the waitress to come to take drink order. I placed my entire order at that time. She brought my water and bread pretty quick. My app came out about 15 minutes later. After about 30 min she came back to take my entree order I told her that I already ordered it and she looked and said there it is. I waited another 30 minutes and no entree. I then told her to cancel it and I would pay for my app she said no. As I was putting on my jacket my entree came out and I told the manager that was bringing it the story and that I was tired of waiting when everyone else around me that came in after me received their food and have finished. Bonefish Grill in Johnson City is a lifesaver when it comes to wanting delicious, consistent, affordable and fresh seafood and well-balanced cocktails. My fiancé and I love to come here on a night when we want to sit back and relax, have a great meal, and be able to talk to friendly servers who respect their job and their craft. We consistently order the Bang Bang Shrimp (with the sauce on the side to ensure that every shrimp bite is piping hot and crunchy), Caesar salads, and corn chowder with crab. I have fallen in love with the PEI mussels, so that is usually my go-to entree. We are never disappointed in our meal and we always leave with a smile on our faces :)) As far as servers go, we have never been terribly dissatisfied with anyone, but we have been blown away by the attentiveness, menu knowledge, and overall presentation of Maple. He is fun, energetic, and fantastic at what he does! I was a server for roughly 10 years and last worked for Hillstone, which is a company who prides themselves in top notch service and providing guests with an experience, not just delivering people their food. I can whole heartedly say that Maple is someone who Hillstone would want to steal to work for their company. His quality of service is rare to find at a restaurant that is not a fine dining establishment. Be sure to ask for him when you visit! Overall, this particular Bonefish location is nicely run and always clean and welcoming. The manager, Nathan, has fostered an amazing staff and business model. We appreciate your efforts! My husband and I stopped here for a spur of the moment lunch yesterday. We rarely go to Johnson City so we wanted to eat somewhere we'd never been. Boy are we glad we did. This place was SO classy. Beautiful ambiance with white tablecloths and candles on each table. Every staff member was wearing a mask including the hostess which we greatly appreciated. Our waitress was polite, attentive and crisply dressed in a professional chefs jacket. The bread and pesto butter were fresh and delicious. We got the beef and ginger dumplings for an appetizer and oh my gosh they were AMAZING. I ordered the fish tacos with fries and everything was so fresh. The fries were fresh, hot and crispy. My husband ordered the tuna poke bowl and he really enjoyed it. Our waitress, whose name was Grace I believe, was attentive and polite. The only downside was the price, we did pay $57 for lunch but I feel like it was worth it. This was a great experience and we will be back! read more

I had the Thermidor Gnocchi Sweet Lobster chunks and tender Shrimp sautéed with golden-brown Potato Gnocchi, mushrooms, peas, and fresh tomatoes tossed in lobster-sherry cream sauce The potatoes were not golden brown at all. They were rolled up bits of mashed potatoes. The lobster had a very fishy taste to it. Very disappointed. Then I ordered decaf coffee and that was horrible too. It tasted like chemicals ! I've had seafood in other restaurants in Florida that were very good. The key lime pie was the only thing I liked. When I told the waitress I didn't like the entree she told me the cooks were new. The past few times we have been here, the service has been lacking. Tonight, the waitress never came by our table to check if we needed anything and they weren't that busy for a Friday night. One of our guests originally ordered a cup of coffee and was never asked if he would like a refill. Our server took our water pitcher and never brought us water back until we asked when our food arrived. The sweet potato mash also has chili powder on top so don't confuse it with cinnamon.
