A group of friends and I enjoyed a wonderful brunch today! Our meal was called an "excursion", purchased by one of the friends at a silent auction for a community agency serving underprivileged children. The manager at Bonefish had donated the "excursion" to the agency's fundraiser. Our brunch consisted of servings of several appetizers, entrees and two desserts. All ten diners In our group were stuffed but thoroughly satisfied with our meal. We found the serving staff to be efficient, friendly, courteous, prompt and extremely accommodating. This used to be our "go to" restaurant of all the chains. I can't help but mention each experience has gotten less and less remarkable. For the $100 minimum total for 2 people we always spend I used to rave about the quality product and brand to anyone who would listen. Several weeks ago we apparently had a server who was either overwhelmed with the two tables she had or just didn't want to be there. We figured no biggie, everyone has a bad day. Upon returning last weekend I was heartbroken to find that this negative stewardship and apathy had obviously been passed on to the kitchen. Somehow my Chilean sea bass was confused with salmon. This chain has never failed me! We go to the Johnson City TN often (2-3 a week), Nathan runs a tight ship! The wait staff are always wonderful. The food never disappoints. Tonight however we witnessed a above and beyond staff member. Someone walked out the emergency exit and of course it was near my table. I am a local resident and have eaten at this Bonefish location at least once a month for several years. I have never been disappointed in the quality of the food, the service, or the restaurant. My husband and I usually get the seafood specials and for the best ones we can't wait to go back and get them again. The cocktails are always perfect and served iced cold. I have been to other Bonefish locations and they are not even close to the quality of Johnson City. In general, the service staff are long-term employees -- a sign of a well managed restaurant. Exceeded expectations on every level!! Service is the best, and the food is perfectly prepared, fresh, and DELICIOUS! The Bang Bang Shrimp are fantastic, and the salmon with pan Asian sauce is the best salmon I've ever had. Au Gratin potatoes are SO yummy as well. We'll be forever return customers! read more

Stopped here for lunch with my husband. It was his first experience. He is a fan!! Our waitress was wonderful. She was helpful and kept our glasses filled. The meal was prepared perfectly. We could not have asked for any better. First thing my husband said this morning was, "That was a great lunch yesterday!" We will definitely be going back. The service was exceptional but the food was underwhelming. Our muscles were not cleaned properly and we couldn't finish them. My husband had a steak and Maryland Crabcake. First let me say, the service was great and everyone was very friendly. But the food was not good at all. I had the potatoes augratin and the potatoes were crunchy, way under done. I was not impressed with the food at all. My husband had the fish and chips, and it was okay, but from a sea food restaurant, I expected more. Captain D's fish is actually better and cost a whole lot less. I don't mind paying big money for a good meal, but I very much dislike paying a lot for a sorry meal. Enjoyed my anniversary here. Service was great and so was the food! Highly recommended if you are in the tri-cities area.

We were charged $9.90 for Imperial Dip (4 wanna-be 2 oz. dips for shrimp and scallops) as I was undecided which one to choose. Only one was considered a seafood dip the others a great compliment to tacos, sushi, bread, etc. I was never told of the $9.90 charge or I would have chosen one and taken my chances. Also because we substituted one of our sides to a salad we were charged $2.00 x 2 extra. We were informed of that charge (good news) but after spending almost $50.00 on two meals --salads shouldn't be extra. The good news the food was delicious, hot, and very timely. Won't be back--too many charges not identified upfront or extra when they should be included! read more

Manager Nathan or better yet as he described himself as partner worst manager I've ever encountered. I eat out 3 times a week minimum. He was condescending. All he had to do was apologize for the grouper being over cooked and instead came at as a smarty pants asking if I've had grouper before and what was wrong. I explained it was over cooked and his reply was it was cooked to specifications. I've eaten at bonefish many many times and I know for a fact it was not cooked to specifications unless every other bonefish I've eaten at cooks the grouper incorrectly. Must really be understaffed tonight. Was told the wait would be 5 minutes, turned out to be just short of 20. Was seated at 6:02, finally left at 6:35 after no service. Across the street now enjoying ribs at Smokey Bones...took 30 seconds for server and less than 5 minutes to be served. read more

I always get a fuzzy memory when come here and then remember why I don't. We were there last night and I ordered the bourbon salmon with jasmine rice and carrots. I make better salmon at home and have had better rice and carrots from fast food joints. My dining partner's steak was over cooked and the crab cake was bland. Your only saving grace was your server. If you gave me a lifetime pass to free meals here I wouldn't come back---that's how bad it was. read more

Very disappointing. Grouper was catch of the day. So tough it could not be cut with a fork. Steamed broccoli was very overlooked and potato order incorrect-ordered as gratin - received mashed (with way too much garlic). Waitress did not care. Will not be back. read more

Mother's Day brunch was a nightmare. Our party of three with a reservation waited 15 minutes to be seated in a booth in the bar. We waited over an hour and a half for our food, which was dismal. The tuna sashimi was gray, not pink, and appeared to have been thrown on the plate. My oscar omelette had no asparagus or sauce, and very little crab and no side dish because the kitchen "ran out of" asparagus. The bang bang oscar was served with scrambled eggs rather than poached. The quality of both food and service has been in a steady decline for several months, and this most recent experience likely was the last for us. A pity, since it used to be our go-to for a great cocktail, bottle of wine and nice dinner. read more

This is the best restaurant. Our son has multiple food allergies and this is the only restaurant that I know he is safe eating at locally. They are kind and knowledgeable about our family's needs. The management always gets involved in our child's meal and our experience is perfect. Even with our children being young, the staff is courteous and friendly. The bathrooms are clean and the ledges of the restaurant are even dusted. After coming to this restaurant, I've decided it is the only one we want to go out to eat at in Johnson city. read more

My wife and I received food poisoning after eating the Bang Bang Shrimp. I contacted the restaurant and spoke with a manager. He informed me he would have to check their protocol with another manager. He also stated "food poisoning takes 24 hours to take affect." He was not at all concerned, but stated someone would call me. I am still waiting on the call, while I pursue other options. I have never filed a complaint regarding a restaurant, and this was our favorite place to dine out in Johnson City. Last 2 times at this location and it has been awful. Last night my the Mahi Mahi I ordered was served and when I took the first bite it was barely cooked. I had to go to the restroom to spit it out! They took it back and cooked it for another 10-15 minutes. There was no way I could even think of eating it after having the taste of raw fish in my mouth. A lady, who called herself the manager offered to give me a free dessert. I refused it, why would I want a free dessert when my meal was awful, and I couldn't eat after that. We paid and left the waiter a 20% tip, (It wasn't his fault, his service was great) but I can tell you we will not be back. The lady (manager) didn't return or even check to see if everything was okay. It wasn't even busy, so there was no reason for food to be hurried or not cooked properly. One of the things that we think helps make a great dining experience is the ability to have a conversation with each other while enjoying our meal. We seek out restaurants that are quiet or go early to avoid the crowds. There were a total of two tables occupied when we arrived at the Bonefish Grill on Monday night and they were adjacent to each other. When the hostess indicated that our table was next to the table with a family (including a young toddler in a high chair) we discreetly requested a different table, away from the child where it would be quieter. She seated us at a table in the empty bar. Before we could order, she seated two young women with newborns next to us! In the bar! Which was empty except for us! This is not the venue to comment on newborns in white tablecloth restaurants. However, Bonefish Grill is supposed to be an upscale restaurant providing great food, great service and great ambience. Fractious newborns do not make for great ambience. Failure to attend to a specific (and easily fulfilled) seating request is not great service. If we had any doubts about our experience they have been erased by the lack of any response to our communication to them on their website. We made reservation for Valentine's Day. We arrived and they said we would have to wait 45 minutes for our table. We were seated 1:18 after we arrived. We were seated at the bar at a high top table that seated 6 with 2 other couples. No privacy. We ordered the Valentine's Day special from the card on the table. We were told they have not had that all day long. My husband's fish was raw in the middle. I unfortunately will not return. Too many bad memories. The staff was very nice but more stressed then all of us who were waiting. So many couples missed movies, calling sitters to see if they could stay longer, ladies in beautiful dresses waiting in door way area freezing. They had utterly no respect for our time.
