A+ for atmosphere! Warm and open space with clean white table cloths. Our waiter was charming and good with the quips. Bread with herbs and oil hit the table first. Our appetizer was calamari with peppers and sweet spicy Asian sauce. Calimari was tender and everyone at the table loved the sauce. For dinner I ordered the crab crusted Alaskan cod. The portion was so large I thought they gave me a tilapia filet by mistake! The cod was nothing special in flavor but it was cooked properly. I had steamed spinach as a side but I didn't like that it was sitting in a pool of water. The garlic mashed potatoes were the highlight of the dish. Overall it was a positive experience. We may return the next time we're in the mood for elevated chain restaurant seafood. read more

My friend was in from out of town and wanted to try Bonefish Grill so we stopped in. It was around 5:30pm on a weekday so it wasn't crowded and we were sat at a hightop table near the bar. It was a great section as the music/TVs weren't too loud so we could enjoy catching up. I ordered fish & chips with a maryland crab cake appetizer and white chocolate, raspberry cookies. The Maryland crabcakes were delicious and the cookies warm and sweet. The fish & chips was crispy, but very oily. Great place for get-togethers! This is one of our workplace happy hour spots and for good reason! Their drinks are wonderful and the food is delish! I had their Thermidor Gnocchi and washed it down with their Art-Sea Martini. Awesome meal as usual. The gnocchi was perfect in the lobster bisque type sauce topped with a generous amount of shrimp. The lobster consisted of a claw and knuckle meat and cooked well. I would get this dish again! The surprise was the visual edible art of the martini! There were a lot of ooohs from my dining companions. Tip: you can get the bar drink specials in the dining room but not the bar food specials. read more

First time trying a Bonefish Grill, ate here with my husband, sister and her boyfriend before a Penn's game. We were totally blown away by the whole experience and literally talked about our food for the rest of the weekend. From the free bread, AMAZING bang bang shrimp (so good we ordered 2 plates of it and still fought over the last pieces), the crispy flavorful calamari, the perfectly cooked steak, chicken parm and my wonderfully flaky and tender salmon, everything was delicious!! My shrimp and scallops charcoaled dish was very unsatisfactory. The Shrimp and scallops were both wet and soggy. Yeas it had a sauce on it but sogginess was the meat. Not firm as it should be. Visited on a Wednesday night when the bang bang shrimp was half off. These are so good. Ordered a watermelon martini which was good...I didn't really like the pieces of black seeds in it but the flavor taste just like fresh watermelon fruit. I ordered the stuff tilapia. It was stuffed with crap meat, shrimp, scallops with capers on the top. It comes with two sides which I ordered spinach and mashed potatoes. Ummmm...it wasn't the best piece of fish I had. Had a nice dinner at Bonefish Grill on Thursday night. It wasn't overly crowded which was nice. My husband and I were seated in the bar half of the restaurant at one of the high top booth tables. I didn't like how close we were to the people on either side of us. I could hear their entire conversation as if I was sitting with them. Our waitress was very kind, although she became less attentive as the night went on. I'm sure that was just because they had a lot of people sitting around our area so she had a lot to do. We had the calamari to start, and it was absolutely delicious. I had the crab cake and steak for dinner with a side of mashed potatoes and the bacon Mac and cheese. The crab cake was good but very small - about the size of an air hockey puck. The steak was not cooked to the degree that I had asked but it still tasted good. The sides were both delicious! Next time I go, I'll probably stick to appetizers and side dishes because they were so much better than the main dish. All in all, it was a fine experience and I would go back. I don't think I'd with in the bar area again unless I was sitting at the actual bar. read more

This trip was funded by a gift card that's been in my wallet for over 3 years. I became familiar with this franchise when I lived near Chattanooga, but for some reason it rarely comes to mind as an option. I will say that even though it's been years since I went there, they seem to be the same restaurant I grew to know outside of 1 difference. It looks like it's been taken off the menu, but they used to serve a side of au gratin potatoes which I thought were fantastic and I was definitely bummed see that they just don't have them anymore. I started off by trying the Bang Bang shrimp and as I remembered, the shrimp was cooked nicely. I did appreciate that since this a to-go order, they left the sauce on the side and it helped keep the shrimp crispy. I also tried the crab cakes and I'd like to add that I've tried crab cakes at quite a few places, but this place has always been my favorite. They don't hold together well, but they have really big chunks of crab meat. They're lightly browned and they're not seasoned much at all. I think some people may not care the lack of seasoning, but for me, it really let's you taste the crab. They do come with a rémoulade sauce that I also enjoy. It's a bit spicy, but a little bit of it is a nice contrast to the taste of the crab. I also tried the beef & Ginger potstickers which I thought were pretty decent. The filling was a bit bland to me, but I think the sauce provided helped add a nice flavor combinationZ The side sauce was something that you usually don't see with potstickers. It tasted almost like a mix of duck sauce with soy sauce and I thought it was a nice and different take on dipping sauce. For the entree I tried the fish & chips. Even though it a to-go order, they gave me some lemon wedges and a good bit of tartar sauce and vinegar. I'm a fan of vinegar on fried fish, but I think that most people pass on the vinegar and it just seems common to only provide tartar sauce. Little things like adding the vinegar go a long way with me. The fish was fried well and it was a decent sized portion of cod. The fries were fine, but they do appear to have a coating added on that I'm not a huge fan, but again, that's just personal preference. I also thought that the prices are pretty close to what you'd see at other seafood restaurant chains such as a Red Lobster, I feel like there's a noticeable difference in quality. I hope to go back again sometime soon and give it another chance to reinforce my current opinion. read more

Three stars? Really, if it were possible to bump it up to 3 1/2, that would be fair. First, let me say that fresh fish in Pittsburgh is always a good thing and reasonably priced fresh fish is a win! Let's start with the cocktail. A Patron cucumber margarita on the rocks was beautifully presented in a salt and pepper rimmed glass. It was okay, but there was no discernable cucumber to it. My dining companion enjoyed the always popular Bonefish classic, Bang Bang Shrimp - once again, beautifully presented. She really enjoyed the gentle heat at the end of each bite! Chilean Sea Bass on the menu? My lunch decision was made, it's one of my favorite swimmy foods! With a choice of several sauces or toppings for the fish (as I recall maybe 5 or 6 options), I went with the mango salsa and a side of green beans. Chilean sea bass is normally a tall piece of flaky white fish, this didn't look anything like it should have. Instead, a thin slice - no more than 1/2" high - sat on my plate with not a raw mango salsa, but more of a cooked mango, red pepper and onion sauce like no salsa I've ever encountered. A neat pile of green beans lay on the side of the fish. Presentation? Boring. Taste? Okay, but overcooked...probably because of how the fish was cut. The mango sauce (not salsa) too sweet and gloppy for the fish. The green beans were nearly raw. The manager came to the table to ask how our lunches were. When I pointed out the way the fish was cut, he was surprised and said he was going to the kitchen to insure the fish would be cut properly. To be fair, this location just opened...perhaps the kitchen staff isn't yet up to snuff in how to cut various types of their product yet. The manager did comp the plate. Dessert. Dear Lord, the Macadamia Flourless Brownie with vanilla ice cream was amazing! But, Bonefish is a sister restaurant to Outback...this is a sister dessert to the flourless brownie there. The macadamia nuts made it even better than Outback! Would I go back? Sure! You're not paying for fine dining...it's a chain. The food is good (the brownie is excellent!), and the service is outstanding. Bonefish is a welcome addition to the North Hills dining scene. Just wish Yelp would allow me to give it 3 1/2 stars. Maybe my next visit will earn it a solid 4? read more

Let's start the review with my meal was so good at the restaurant ... I ordered my meal as takeout. I started with the house salad ... hearts of palm, olives, and spring greens .... lemon vinegarette yummy My entree was highly recommended by people waiting to be seated ... scallops and shrimp with a tomato garlic light sauce ... with their version of scalloped potatoes .... which was the epitome of comfort food. Wait ... I skipped the warm bread with dipping oil ... you can't just eat one piece of bread. The manager came over, introduced himself, & personally took my takeout order. This used to be a great option for seafood. Lately things just aren't as good. Had the grilled swordfish special with pumpkin ravioli. The swordfish was as thin as could be - as if it were pounded like veal scallopini. It was grilled but dry and tough for fish. Never had swordfish like this. Ravioli were good. Bonefish Grill is a solid chain restaurant and this location is exceptional. I went with my husband, who doesn't eat any seafood. He had filet, which he absolutely loved. He also thought the rum and coke was very good, especially for $5.50. I had the corn and crab chowder which was fine, and the shrimp and scallops which were very good. I had garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus, which I think was actually local, because it was very green and thin stalks, not the giant out of season pale green garbage you get sometimes. We cleaned our plates, plus finished off two servings of bread. It comes with olive oil and either basil pesto or chimichurri type stuff mixed in. The olive oil isn't the best, but got the job done. No desserts this time, but the strawberry shortcake did sound good. Our server, Paige, was super attentive and polite. And there are food runners, so everything came out in a timely, but not super rushed, manner. This was a pleasant surprise, especially for my non seafood eating partner. Enjoyed a date night dinner out last evening at Bonefish grill & loved it. Despite the full parking lot, we were seated immediately, were provided excellent service, and wonderful food & cocktails. Great quality from start to finish. Atmosphere is slightly upscale but comfortable. We will definitely be back. The bar is attractive - makes you want to sit there for drinks & appetizers. Our table was ready so quickly that we didn't need to do so this time, but maybe next visit. Came for brunch this morning with a group of people on reservation. I had no problem making the reservation or having checks separated. The greeting and wait staff were all super friendly. I ordered the mimosa and the bang bang shrimp Benedict with asparagus. I thought the food and drink were great, though I would have preferred a more traditional hollandaise sauce than the thick almost cheese-like sauce on the bang bang Benedict. Others who ordered traditional Benedict did appear to have the standard hollandaise sauce. I will def come back and I look forward to trying dinner next time. So I've been back to Bonefish twice since the original review above. Once was for brunch with a friend and I was advised they are not serving brunch any longer, despite the website stating they do. I got salmon and some veggies. Very basic, but it was def tasty. The other time I went with a friend and ordered the Caesar salad, which was quite small and not exciting. I also ordered crab cakes which were a complete disappointment not only were they very small, but they were also more like patties that would come from a non-seafood restaurant trying to serve something gourmet-ish. Total fail for Bonefish. I feel like their food is inconsistent and certainly not anywhere near as good as it was when I first tried them so many years ago. I may go back, hut only if others want to go there and nowhere else. Otherwise, there is far better quality only a few minutes away. 4/10/17 - UPDATE: I've demoted Bonefish a point. Our wedding day was supposed to happen on Saturday. Since it could not due to the recent circumstances my future in-laws ordered us lunch. When we picked it up my fiancé spoke to Jesse. Since Jesse and my future mother-in-law have been in contact planning the lunch. Jesse apologized to my fiancé and said how bad she felt for us. Jesse then gave my fiancé a $50 gift card and said it's on the house. This was nothing we could have ever expected. This was the nicest and purest gesture we had received from the hospitality industry. I can't say thank you enough and how much it meant to us. Now onto the food part. We got the bang bang shrimp bundle deal. These shrimp tacos were the best I ever had. The sauce at was phenomenal and hit the spot. It also came with a cesar salad, bread with dipping oil, and cookies. I would highly recommend this to any family that is sick of cooking. This is a wonderful option and feeds up to 5 people. this was our first time at bonefish Grill. The atmosphere is really nice.. the warm bread that they serve is very nice to serve with the pesto sauce was delicious.. I also had the smoked old-fashioned cocktail that was amazing. however, my main course which was the Parmesan trout, came with a very bland white sauce, poured over my fish with a couple of artichokes, tossed on top, and made it look very, very appetizing. The sauce had absolutely no flavor and had no point of being on the fish. The rice was delicious the coleslaw was bland.. my partner had salmon plank and it was dry the potatoes they served with it were not appetizing looking in. Some type of green sauce was plopped on top again. The sauce said no flavor no purpose for being on the potatoes asparagus we're just limp and laying there with no butter sauce or anything on top of them.. the cheesecake was phenomenal. It was very creamy and velvety the raspberry sauce that came with. It was nice too, because it was smooth and not chunky. Overall, I probably would not go back to bonefish for dinner. read more

Super understaffed on a Thursday afternoon. We had to wait 10-15 minutes to be greeted and another 5 to be seated. It took 45 minutes for the food to come out. If the quality of food was up to par, we wouldn't have minded waiting but the steak and lobster tails we ordered were offered in measly portions. The meat was super chewy and dried up and the lobster tail had a foul smell and was no bigger than 3-4 inches. Their new tuna poke was super super sweet as the bowl was drenched in sauce.
