    Chicken Club Sandwich

While we were seated immediately on a Saturday afternoon, the wait for drinks and food was pretty shocking. Our waitress, though friendly, seemed overwhelmed and it took three asks to get a glass of water. The food came out after about 40 minutes, and when it did finally arrive the fries were cold, and the sandwich size was smaller than I'd expect for $16. Some members of my group enjoyed their meal, but I was disappointed enough that I won't return.

The prices for the portions is would warrant another visit. But what really stood out was the homemade New England clam chowder!! It's out of this world and they didn't go skimpy on the clams! The shrimp are HUGE...battered or cocktail! Service was great. It's a nice place to chill after work or for a family outing. Sorry my pic of the chowder isn't that appealing but I was more interested in eating it!

My family came to Roland's on Father's day for lunch and surprisingly, they were busy but we only waited about 15 mins for a table. Our server was running all over the place, but fast to take our food and drink orders. The food was out within 15 minutes. The apps came out first followed by the mussels and fish tacos. My dad loved the oysters and calamari. I thought it was interesting to serve the calamari with a bunch of peppers. Being a pepper hater, I didn't enjoy what is typically one of my favorite app choices. The angry mussels were something I was looking forward to and either my tastes have changed or something in the recipe is different from when I had this same pot a few years ago. It is extremely spicy. I was sweating. It took me a while to get through 70-80% of the mussels. My brother enjoyed he fish tacos. He said they were crispy and he appreciated all of the sauces on the side. The restaurant is pretty open with higher ceilings so sound travels. The bathrooms are around the corner from the bar and were pretty clean considering the high traffic day. We parked a few blocks away and walked. If you can snag a front spot in the strip on the weekend, some may consider you lucky!

Service was awesome! We walked in and had a party of 8. They were very accommodating. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The only tables they had were high tops past the bar with backless stools, so they kindly got us chairs from the back room for some of our guests.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server was on top of it and she looked like she had a good number of tables both in and outside. The food was good all around. The lobster roll used to have all chunks of lobster in it and it is now mostly shredded, which I feel changes the flavor, but it was still tasty. One thing to note, if you have a party of 8 or more, they only give one check. We should've asked before we sat down, but it was not a big deal. Just so others know ahead of time.

    These shrimps were so tasty!

Order their shrimp! It was so clean and fresh. By far the best breaded shrimp I've had in ages. The batter was clean and not too heavy. Didn't not fall apart the way it could. The salad was traditional Cesar and did not disappoint. The bartender was kind and lovely. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Easy going vibe and was cozy and friendly![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Great place

Popular place for lunch or dinner in the Strip. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We had a late Sunday lunch inside where it was cool on an unseasonably warm spring afternoon.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]](There is also outdoor seating.)[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had the warm lobster salad, and hubby (who doesn't like seafood) had a chicken sandwich. Food was good--the chunks of lobster claw meat were impressive--and service was fine, but nothing particularly special.

Diana might be the most awesome ambassador for everything Pittsburgh and Roland's. She had the best recommendations for food and alcohol, as well as, epic local color. Then the food and drink! Can't say enough about their Bloody Marys, chicken club and the lobster sliders! Bonanza of delicious food! Seriously, if you're in the Burgh, the Strip is a must and at least grab a drink here.

    Showing Lobster rolls @ $30 a piece!

We were at Rolands after a Pirates game Saturday July 11th 2026. First off the server (Kennedie) was awesome very attentive and polite. Second we ordered 2 Lobster rolls which were $30 each...they were the worst I have ever had. No taste and very dry. I gagged it down because it was $30. The Mancinis bread it was on was better than the lobster. We will not go back and we will spread the word of how bad it was.

A quick and specific review for me. It's lent and while I'd love to have two fish sandwiches every Ash Wednesday and each Friday, that doesn't meet my fitness goals ;). So a great lunch alternative is the spicy crab chowder. Light, flavorful and full of crab. [[HIGHLIGHT]]In addition, anyone that's been to the bar at Roland's knows that the staff is awesome (Johnnie, Tonya, Joey & Jeff...in no particular order) and the vibe is great.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Solid beer list & excellent Bloody Marys. Worth a stop even outside of lent. Several other menu items worth the trip (my favorite - the hot lobster roll sliders) but this trip was focused on a light lunch.

    Jenny M.

The food was good and well presented. The service was excellent and even made an effort to our request. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was huge they have bar, 2nd floor, and outdoor seating, and can surely accommodate big groups.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Jacqui, Jacky (not sure how to spell) but she's a rockstar and hope the first day turns out well.

A spoonful of the clam chowder will have you ordering your own bowl!
    Denise T.

Located in the strip district so the short walk to restaurants lets you pass the shops and speak with the fellow 'Burgh neighbors out for the day. The clam chowder was bursting with flavor all its own! The mussels were on the smaller side and the flavor was at the bottom of the bucket. The lobster roll was packed with lobster but I needed more butter sauce to truly appreciate the goodness. The fish sandwich is huge but lots of breading but you will bite into flavorful fish past all the bread. The fries are crispy and truly homemade be sure to say bring out when ready so they are hot upon arrival. The service was friendly and knowledgeable of menu for suggestions although it was busy and longer wait times. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The Resturant was engaged with patrons and had a lively atmosphere full of both locals and out of towners to enjoy a good meal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Roland's seafood grill was a lot better than we expected. We were craving seafood, lobster in particular, and Roland's had everything we wanted. It wasn't too pricy, the portion sizes were fair, and the flavors were great. The lobster nachos was way bigger than we expected that we gave up on finishing it and only finished the lobster meat. I personally really enjoyed the shrimp because it was just the right combo of tender and juicy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Service was also fast and they have plenty of seating - no reservations required.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Very good food! I had lobster on a salad and a delicious mocktail. My daughter said hers was very good too!! When I'm back in Picks to visit her, I'll stop in again.

So much food, too bad it lacked flavor.

Our server was excellent and the auxiliary staff were courteous and efficient. We started with a calamari appetizer which was a little spicy but delicious. Beware of the two Thai chilies in the mix! Next my husband had the lobster bisque. It was quite rich with a large chunk of lobster as a garnish. Our main courses were a 10 ounce filet, wild caught shrimp stuffed with crabmeat and Chilean sea bass. Everyone loved their entrees. Our son especially loved the filet, it was so tender. We ordered two side dishes for the table and they were plenty for the three of us. Decadent lobster mashed potatoes and crabmeat fried rice. We shared a dessert, creme brûlée which was topped with fresh berries and served with chewy cocoa snowflake cookies. Overall the food was excellent. Service started out a little rocky. I had made a reservation online and it would only let me choose a high top. We don't like high tops so I called the restaurant a few days before and they assured me they could accommodate us with a regular table, not to worry. Upon entering and giving my name for the reservation, the Maitre D'être said it's for a high top. I explained that I'd called and we didn't want a high top. He said he could only offer us a booth in the lounge, so we took it. The lounge had a jazz trio playing and the music was a bit too loud for comfortable conversation. The server had to talk above the music to be heard by us. Luckily they took a break and when they came back the volume was lower. As we were leaving I noticed there was a whole dining room with empty tables which were NOT high tops. So why did they seat us in the lounge? Our drink orders were pretty simple, however because they serve the cocktails from the shaker, the server mixed up the dinks and poured my husband's margarita into my 'dirty' martini glass. So I had a three blue cheese olive margarita! A margarita-tini! He realized what he did, apologized and ran off to get another margarita for my husband. I had eaten the olives and tasted the margarita, which was very good. When he returned, he asked if I still wanted the martini and I laughed and said, yes, that what I ordered. So my husband got the benefit of two Margaritas for the price of one and I got three extra blue cheese olives! That was the only goof up. The rest of the meal was flawlessly served. I felt that even though the prices are high, the portion size and the quality of the food provide a good value. You expect to pay more in a place like this. It was well worth it in my opinion. And if you are there during Happy Hour you can choose cocktails and appetizers from the Happy Hour menu which is quite reasonable.

It's been a while since I had been back and the place has taken a definite turn for the worse. First off, I don't know if it was the heat or smoke or what but the servers (both the one we had and the other one working) seemed surly at best. We were seated under a speaker with music playing too loudly to hear my dining companions. When the server who wasn't ours came over to wipe the table next to us (and showered me with the table cleaning spray) I asked for it to be turned down a bit and was looked at like this was an unreasonable request. Then the Sazerac I had, which you'd think was a safe choice for a place that is a Cajun restaurant, was the worst I've ever had. Watered down and overly sweet is the only way to describe it. The cocktail had to be shaken for it to be so watery and that's a massive failing in bartending. Then, thinking I'd just drink whisky, I asked the server for a whisky list and was told they didn't have one. So I figured I'd just go look at the bar to see what they had and, surprise, a whisky list did exist that I took back to the table. Why the server couldn't have asked the bartender for it, I have no idea. For starters, we had oysters, fried green tomatoes, and the crab dip. The fried green tomatoes are good and have remained a standard. The oysters were also fine but sad to see they no longer have the excellent house made hot sauce they once had (and sold by the bottle). The crab dip was cold under the melted cheese and the bread with it looked barely toasted but somehow tasted burnt. For entree, I had the blackened catfish etoufee, which was so salty as to be inedible. I took one bite and sent it back. Given the mood in there, I declined to swap out for a different entree. Regardless, even with that taken off the bill, this was an incredibly expensive visit for such a disappointingly mediocre meal and experience. I think Muddy Waters is reaching the end of its tenure and my money will be better spent elsewhere in the future.

We celebrated our 10yr anniversary here for dinner & it was definitely worth it. Unblemished ambiance & service. We were at the restaurant side- very chic & intimate. They have a casual tavern area along the bar on the other side. And an upstairs section. When you look up, there's an entire wall of huge wine selection. For cocktails we had the Cosmopolitan & Strawberry Smash-- both prepared great! Cosmos are usually a hit/miss situation for me; this was really good though- not too tart nor sweet-- very well balanced w/ a mild hint of vodka coming through, which after a few sips hits you in a nice, soft way. Husb said the Strawberry Smash was bangin!!-- the sibona amaro in it stabilized the fruitiness of the drink. For apps, we ordered the Calamari- it was soooo good & crispy/crunchy, I had to prevent myself from stuffing everything in my mouth! I was a bit sad I had to share this w/ my husb lol. It came with a hot & sour sauce w/ lemon which overall made the dish unique. For entree, I had the Scottish Salmon, came w/ scallops & I added crab cake to it. Succulent salmon was seared w/ great flavor, the sweet corn & pepper mixed in a tomato vinaigrette on the side under the scallops was just unbelievable. The crab cake was cut squared, hands down one of the best cakes. The flavor profile for the entire dish together in a bite was incomparable!! Definitely order this. Husb ordered the Gerber Farms Chicken, amish chicken served w/ risotto, greens on top of thyme jus (akin to a thin gravy). The chicken was cooked well-- juicy on the inside & a nice roast on the outside; the risotto wasnt heavy & didn't weigh the meal down, the thyme jus's flavor was subtle & it elevated the entire dish. For dessert, we got the Chocolate Hazelnut tart & Eleven Candy bar. I legit relished & inhaled the tart despite already being so full. Husb loved the Candy bar. A huge slice of brownie/caramel candy bar w/ chocolate mousse phew! The pics explain how mindblowin' everything was! A real one-of-a kind experience. Ron was great in explaining everything too. Taxes they add to the bill: sales, alcohol & Allegheny tax which raises the end charge. A toast to the chefs & Mixologists here.

My experiences have not been high-end, perhaps more "tinfoil" than sapphire, to say the least....see below. That being said, it's proven to be a very middling experience each time, especially from a service standpoint. Each time has had mysterious delayed times to get waited upon, receive food and drinks, and every time has featured a mysterious disappearing item that we had to politely "remind" the server about after receiving the bill. On this occasion, we were offered to still receive a missing drink even though it was incredibly clear that we were ready to leave. One time, sure, but all three visits have had issues. This time, when the final bill was corrected, the math didn't seem to make sense - removing a $14 drink and the total came out $5 less. I'm being candid in saying instead of even dealing with the server once more, their tip corrected the discrepancy - no issues in dealing with the situation in that manner, given the sub-par service. Unacceptable and frustrating to have 3/3 times experiencing significant service issues. Food-wise, it's a solid "4" rating - salads have all been great, the dishes we'd recommend are the black cod and the short ribs. Good selection of semi-local beer and extensive wine list. It was noted that the menu had "changed" with the season, but the overall menu was 80% the same with some very subtle modifications - all over a two-year period. First time we went here, we sat at the tables above the bar area, and unfortunately there was a very bar-like smell that could be experienced throughout the meal (imagine having fine dining at the Rock Room on Polish Hill) - thankfully these other two times have been in the main dining area, on nights that haven't been very busy (adding to the frustration regarding the service notes above). Honestly, this is a legacy restaurant here in Pittsburgh, it's a shame that newer places with great food + service have a hard time launching in this environment.
