Hubby and I wanted to get a nice dinner on Saturday night. We got there before the dinner rush and we're seated immediately in the bar area. Service was fabulous!! Our waitress was friendly, prompt and present. She made recommendations, including getting the happy hour serving of mussels instead of the normal order. Much better price and still more than we needed in a serving size. I didn't even realize it was happy hour! Hubby wanted wine and she made a recommendation. My dinner was ok. I got the special, Lobster Thermidor gnocchi special. I enjoyed the lobster and shrimp in the dish, but the gnocchi wasn't great. It was so mushy and thick, which was too heavy for the seafood and sauce. I ended up picking around the gnocchi in the dish. The sauce was pretty good, though it seemed a bit too much sherry for my taste. Hubby had fish and chips. He really enjoyed his fish, said it was cooked perfectly and the fries were good. When we were done the waitress offered to cork up the rest of the wine in the bottle and quickly brought our check. She was so great that she got an extra tip. We probably frequent this restaurant every other month or so and are almost never disappointed. The service is wonderful 99% of the time and normally no complaints on the food. read more

TL;DR: Amazing service and good food! Bang bang Wednesdays are the best. Sorry this is going to be long. So to be honest, this was only my 4th time at Bonefish. But the more often I go, the more I realize that since it's a chain, it's severely underrated. I haven't had a bad experience yet at any three of the locations I've been to. Food: Wednesday's they have a special on their famous Bang Bang shrimp appetizer ($6 compared to $10.50). Definitely worth it. - bang bang shrimp: battered and fried shrimp, served on a bed of lettuce (which makes it look like it's more than it is, but still they give you a bunch!). The bang bang sauce is tangy and delicious, with a little bit of a kick. - calamari: So good. On it's own, the breading is seasoned so well. The sauce that comes with it is a sweet asian inspired sauce. I prefer it 100x over marinara (personally) - fish and chips: most of the time, you imagine this dish to be pretty heavy (as most fried food is). But the fish was so light and perfectly fried. It was a tad bit greasy, but I mean.. I fully expected that. - sirloin and crab cake dinner: A little on the smaller side, but still a bunch of food. Our steak came out a little more rare than medium rare, but we didn't care enough to complain. The crabcake was pretty small, but it was basically ALL crab. - Bacon mac and cheese: SO CHEESY. Served with spiral noodles. Every bite was covered in a string of melted cheese. So good. - Potatoes Au Gratin: again. SO CHEESY. But oh so good. -bread: Who doesn't love complimentary bread? It looks like some type of ciabatta loaf. So soft in the middle. Comes with a pesto oil to dip in. Our loaf was a little stale on the edges, but it happens. Service: Our waitress Emily was on point. She always cleared our plates that weren't being used. We always had water. We basically never really had to ask her for anything, not even the check. She was very aware and present enough to where she wasn't bothering us every 2 seconds. Amazing. I'm a fan! The service was excellent. Our waitress was very attentive and also detached enough to let me and my date talk. :D The service at the bar is also excellent. I had a pleasant experience as a result and the food was delicious. The wait for food was not long at all, and the layout of the restaurant is nice, open. The lights are turned a bit low, which is great for an evening meal. I'm not one for seeing bright-as-day lighting for an evening meal as romantic at all. I would say this is great for a romantic dinner, and other occasions as well. I did see a comment where someone mentioned that it looked like the mashed potatoes were doled out with an ice cream scoop...we did not see this. Our sides were not looking like 3- star or less rated restaurants. I do agree that there were no sides that you would likely see at a 5-star restaurant but this is not a 5-star restaurant. Martinis. Seafood. Lauren. We've been popping in throughout the pandemic to have a martini and to-go family packs of salmon or Lilly's Chicken which last us for days. The food is well prepared, delicious for several meals, and we always feel like we got our money's worth. Recently, we've come to appreciate bartender Lauren whose ways with the Hendricks martinis are mysterious and keep us coming back for more. BILLY THE MANAGER SAVED THE DAY! My family and I have been dining at Bone Fish for a number of years and every time, it has been an amazing experience. Great service, delicious food and a wonderful staff - unfortunately, last Friday (January 5, 2024) almost turned my 5 stars to 1 star. Taking a friend out to dinner, this was his first time dining at Bone Fish - my rave review had him excited. The hostess was delightful and immediately showed us to our table. Here's where it got a little dicey, our server comes over and introduces herself. We ordered a cocktailed followed by an appetizer to share (the crab cakes are amazing, just saying). Both drinks finished and the crab cakes a distant memory, we sat and watched our server serve everyone except us. Unhappy, I politely asked a pleasant woman who worked there and happened to be passing by if she could track our server down, we wanted to order our entree's. Few minutes go buy and she showed up, thirsty and hungry, I began to order for the both of us. Once I ordered the entree's, I ordered another drink - she took my drink request but never asked my friend if he would like another cocktail/beverage. At this point my "this is unacceptable attitude" started to kick-in but in true "I'm not going to make a scene" attitude, I sat back and waited for my drink and the entree's. The ambiance was electric and the individuals busing out the food and drinks were nothing short of spectacular. My drink arrives (by now my friend still parched is trying to understand my rave review - his first experience isn't going too well). Here comes the food, I ordered the surf & turf (medium steak and shrimp) - the steak was completely overdo! Our server, speeding by my table once again had to be flagged down. By now, I pushed my plate toward the end of the table and when she graced her with her presence, I expressed my dissatisfaction with my steak. Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse she had the nerve to say "do you want to eat the shrimp now and I'll bring you back another steak?" Holding by my aggression, I said "NO, it's surf and turf NOT surf now and turf later". Here's when the evening took a turn to POSITIVEVILLE - my server spoke to Billy the manager and he came over. This part is for Bone Fish Corporate - Billy's attitude along with his professional determination to make things right was a breath of fresh air. He took our drink order, hold-on Yelp Family, he even took my friends drink order and he brought me out another plate of food - surf and turf was back on the menu and it was DELICIOUS. Billy assigned us another server and he was everything in my life - warm, professional with a smile that lit-up the entire dining room. When it was all set and done, Billy not only saved the day, he single-handedly saved the entire evening. Neil Diamond and the American Band The Monkees weren't the only believers, my friend now understood and believed my rave review. I'm a Brooklyn girl who spends a lot of time in Virginia visiting family and friends, Bone Fish will remain on my list for every visit. I spent almost $100 in food and I had to prepare some noodles for my kids because everything was just awful. The grilled chicken from the kids meal had 4 very thin slices of chicken and barely 10-15 fries. The calamari was soggy, the shrimps was nothing to do with the ones served at the restaurant and the Chilean bass meal was ridiculously small for the price. So very dissatisfied and disappointed with everything. Never getting food from here again. read more

We've been here on many occasions always positive until our most recent visit. We placed our order and after 40mins. Manager??? came to our table to say our food would be out momentarily BUT they are out of calamari which I had ordered with a side as meal. It took that long to realize they were out of an item? I could order something else no charge. A couple of minutes later out comes my husbands meal and my side. He was 3/4 of the way through his meal when my "rushed through " bang bang shrimp arrived. Update: so we continue to come and enjoy the food at bonefish, but we have found the perfect time that works for us.... Lunch. Same amazing food, but not the crowds or noise. We love Saturday or Sunday mornings here. On the nights we want a quiet weekend, we call in takeout. I was incredibly impressed with the way they packaged the food. The sauces were not smothered all over, so it kept everything fresh until we got home to enjoy dinner. When the food came out the server went through the bag to make sure it was right and I was happy, even had a loaf of bread and my favorite dipping sauce! For dinner I still give it three stars because of atmosphere, but for lunch and takeout I give it a 5.... I had dinner at Bonefish Grill last night with two friends and everything was delicious. The bang bang shrimp were excellent. My friend and I had the Sea Bass entree and the other had the stuff cod, nothing was left on any plates. We even had dessert, cheese cake and that was really good. Our waiter Tim as amazing. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and provided suggestions and they were all great. Now here is where I am giving you the real deal, the portion size didn't bother me because I am trying to loose a few lbs and I am telling myself it's all I need. The portion are measured and just enough doe one person. I had 2 orders of the steam spinach and was satisfied but my GF had an order of rice and it little looked like a teaspoon on Rice on her plate. She ate it all and did say it was a really small portion. It was but it was good. A little Pricey but good. Would most like have dinner her again soon. read more

I ordered the Mai Mai and grilled shrimp. The fish was delicious but the shrimp were not. My fiancé had the steak and lobster tail, the steak was well done when she asked for medium. When you first get into the Bonefish Grill, you have to get through a rotating door that spins around. Kinda nice, but a hassle if the place gets busy and people are constantly trying to go in and out of the restaurant. The place is not well lit and if your trying to take a photo, you will need to use flash. Our waitress was really nice and she introduced herself as Stephanie. She started us up with bread and pesto before taking our order. For the appetizer I got Bang Bang Shrimp and it was absolutely delicious! For the entree I ordered the Ahi Tuna Steak; it was was juicy and well seasond. My cousin ordered the Special: Shrimp + Scallop Firepot and was a bit pricy for what came with it. She said it tasted a bit bland to her. Good servers, food was delicious, but can be a bit pricy for the proportion we're getting. So disappointing! "Crab cake" appetizer was not hot. Fell completely apart tasted like their crab dip was placed on a flat top and browned Soup came out cold. Spoke to manager and expressed our disappointment and he assured us the rest of the meal would be hot. Main dishes came out COLD to barely Luke warm. Manager offered to remake the meals but would take an additional 30 minutes. We were already there 2 hours so declined the offer. On the plus side: server was wonderful, kids meals came out immediately and hot. Manager comped the entire bill even though we insisted on paying for our cocktails and kids meals and the soup which was hot second time around. Definitely having issues in the kitchen. We made online reservations last week and waited standing at the turnstile after check in for over an hour past the reservation time for a table. Seems Bonefish management has taken a page from the airline industry and overbook reservations to assure they will stay busy and make up for "no shows" ...at the customer's expense! Well it won't happen to us again. Then our waitress disappeared when we were almost finished with our meal. Today was my first time visiting Bone Fish, although I had heard about it before - mixed reviews, but mostly positive. My daughter, friend, and I went there for brunch, and tbh, I was pretty disappointed in the brunch menu. There just weren't enough breakfast-y items, not even a shrimp or sausage and grits, or a chicken and waffles. We started off with calamri for an appetizer, which was fine. I'd had better and I'd had worse. The most annoying part of the app was that it sat on a bed of flavorless wonton (?) crisps, which seemed like such a waste. The sauce it came with was wonderful, though, and the coating was nicely seasoned. My daughter ordered steak with mashed potatoes and spinach. She didn't make any remarks of note, other than to say that it was good. My friend and I each got omelettes, and we shared a plate of french toast. She had the Oscar omelette, which she thought was kind of plain. I had the California omelette, which I felt had a good mix of flavor, mainly because of the bacon that was inside. Neither of us had complaints about the asparagus. We both agreed that we would've gotten more bang for our buck (taste and size) from IHop omelettes. The french toast brought the whole experience from "decent" to "I'd come back again." Had a nicely and lightly carmelized side, and the whipped cream and strawberries made for tasty toppings (although I prefer mine without the whip). Next time I would order that, and then pay the small upcharge for a side of scrambled eggs. Lastly, Greg was a wonderful server, very friendly and provided just the right amount of attentiveness. Stopped in to try out this location for the first Time. The wait for seating on a Saturday night at 7:30 was going to be about 20 minutes so we decided to sit in the bar area at the community tables right by the door. We were immediately welcomed by Cierra who turned out to be the best waitress ever. She helps me pick the Mule to drink quickly goddess bread and explain to us about the menu and the dinner special they had going that night. I don't think I've had anyone take so much time with me in a restaurant it was magical. We opted for the three-course meal for two and got the Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer which is just delicious. For my aunt Ray I got the dynamite shrimp and the boyfriend got the salmon on a plank. Everything was really fresh and delicious we kind of shared our meals. And then we got the brownie to go because I was full. Cierra packaged up my brownie perfectly with each part separate so I could create it at home after heating up the brownie. I know this is a chain restaurant but Bonefish Grill does an excellent job. Every time I have come here their service has been outstanding, every single time. If I could give them a separate rating for just service alone it would be five stars. Yes my family started off with the classic "bang bang" shrimp. It's actually the only seafood my wife will actually eat so this is always a must. For dinner my wife ate the Lily's Chicken with spinach and potatoes. She was very complimentary of the dish. I had the special of the evening which was salmon with spinach and crabmeat on top. It was excellent! One of my children ordered shrimp-of the fried verity of course. Kids love their fried stuff.... I've been to Bonefish Grill enough times that I really should have some stronger opinion about them, maybe that's exactly what is worse to put into a review. Though obviously a chain restaurant, they do fairly well regarding atmosphere, service, and quality of food. The experience from one location to another can vary to a good degree depending on how busy they might be, and unfortunately what kind of day your waiter or waitress might be having. The menu is good enough without truly offering anything too specialty or inventive, though I can understand we are trying to serve the largest segment of the population so fresh grilled squared or seafood paella are just a few things you'll probably never see at Bonefish Grill. (Though I can't knock them for wanting to be something they are not intending to be.) Due to the relatively standard menu and the range of experiences I might have, I tend to go there telling myself to keep an open mind and to not expect too much - hence the 3 Star review. read more

I just ordered via DoorDash a meal that I've ordered before, and is normally delectable, but this delivery was a huge disappointment. The steak and shrimp were delicious, but the crab cake and both sides (garlic mashed potatoes & sauteed spinach) were SO salty they were inedible. I actually had to throw those out in the trash, you couldn't taste anything but salt. If it were a lower priced chain restaurant, I'd chalk it up to "what do you expect", but I paid nearly double for a dish from BoneFish to get the quality I always experienced in the past. Either the chef was not tasting as they prepared those items or is a heavy smoker. Having worked in restaurants in the past, I know smokers are desensitized to the taste of salt and will often oversalt. Whichever the cause isn't important, it's the final product sent out to paying customers that is the issue. The product I received was far below the normal standards of BoneFish Grill, as well as mine. If I have to throw out ¾ of my meal because it's overloaded with salt, I might as well order from a local chain and save $40 on my meal. read more

This particular evening we were meeting friends and they called ahead to get on their online reservations .(which by the way is fabulous) Just so you know this place has them waiting outside for a table . We thought we had at least a 45 min wait , but thanks to the online reservations we waited maybe 15 mins. This enabled us to enjoy HAPPY HOUR !!! Yes that's right HAPPY HOUR !!! (I love happy hour) We were able to enjoy Martinis for half price . Bonefish knows how to make the best Martini . Also they offer a dinner special for two . You can enjoy a the three-course meal. It starts with their signature appetizer Bang Bang Shrimp, choice of a house salad or Caesar salad and entree of your choice all for $49.00 . Wow ... what a great deal for exceptional food . I will say the entree portions are smaller , but after the Bang Bang shrimp and salad it will satisfy the normal appetite . We were completely satisfied . Our server was at the top of her game . Decided on Bonefish as an easy Monday night dinner - Sticky - really sticky rice. My broccoli had a strange sauce, like it came from someone's leftovers. Didn't get advertised sides...asked for chop sticks for bang bang shrimp, had to go to bar to get. Missing waitress... Used to like this place, but the last several times we've been here the food and service have been sorely lacking. Came here Saturday and sat at the bar. My bartender was Melissa and she was really sweet. She had a great clientele and many guest knew her. Drinks were delicious and appetizer was amazing. I ordered the seafood imperial dip and it was out of this world. It was a good size portion and full of flavor. Best dish of the night. I was pretty comfortable after my appetizer so I just ordered a small Cesar salad and bacon Mac and cheese. Salad was fresh. Mac and cheese was just okay. Lacked taste and honestly only had a 3 or 4 crumbled pieces of bacon on top. Wouldn't order again. Overall, really enjoyed my experience. Would definitely return. read more

Awesome food every visit we have! We are here about a month ago to celebrate a promotion, all seating but at the bar was reserved (the romantic seating, less like being in the "pen" dining room. So loud.) So we took the bar seating, it was still alright. It's fresh mango, blue cheese, avocado, fresh tomatoes, pine nuts and a really tasty citrus herb vinaigrette~~~sooo yummy!~~~ The bang bang shrimp appetizer is a MUST. It's fried shrimp in an amazing slightly creamy spicy sauce has yet to be matched. It's a Bonefish fav for a reason. Don't go without trying it. The chef's special menu does a lot of different things with swordfish and my boyfriend always gets it (and I try some, of course) and it's always wonderful! Perfectly cook and incredibly flavorful. I know one he had was pan asian and the other one was stuffed and they were both delish! I've also had the Lilly's chicken and the fontina chop and it was all very tasty, but I must say, nothing beats that swordfish.
