Came here for Mother's Day. I know I'm writing this review a little late, but honestly I just forgot about it until I was going through pictures on my camera lol. Either way, the waiter we had was so sweet and super attentive. We had a larger group, so of course everyone needed a little extra attention at different points during our time there, and he did a great job handling everything. He was really helpful explaining the menu, making sure our needs were taken care of, and giving us good recommendations. It was a very nice experience overall.

We were recommended this place for good seafood and it did not disappoint! --------------------------------- Food: we ordered an appetizer (calamari) and two mains (scallop and shrimp tamale, and seafood stew), the calamari just slightly fried a bit too much, but overall so good! Perfectly crisp and soft and not tough Scallop shrimp tamale was an interesting combo, would have liked more than 2 scallops though Seafood stew was so perfect for a cold day; warm and rich with a combination of red snapper, chorizo, clams/mussels, and shrimp; the shrimp was so well cooked, soft/tender, not too chewy; crispy fish skin on the red snapper was also good Recommendations: calamari, seafood stew, shrimp dishes Affordability: it was more on the expensive end for entrees ($40+) but portions were large Ambiance: warm and relaxed, not too formal Service: friendly and attentive, offered us multiple breads Good for: seafood, special occasions

    Fish and Chips were EXCELLENT

I'm so pleased with Oceano. I think they've gotten even better over time. Our recent Valentine's weekend lunch was excellent as we had expected. Service was possibly better than ever and the atmosphere was perfect. A+

Great service and great food. We love to go to Oceano, the foods always good, parking space are plenty.

2nd time at this place and I absolutely think it is outstanding. Went to celebrate my 69th birthday and not only was the food incredible but our server, Valeria made me feel so special. We will be back!

Branzino with tapenade purée and eggplant purée. Absolutely phenomenal!!!

Love the Ambiance here. Service was excellent. Food was phenomenal. Got the Bronzino and my som and I were blown away. My son got their burger, that was also tasty and excellent quality meat. Fritto Misto was perfect. A little light on the shrimp but everything was tender and the batter was light and crispy. Definitely will go back again.

Girls night out and we wanted to splurge so Oceano was chosen. Overall Oceano offers a pleasant atmosphere. The space gives an upscale cozy vibe and the service is friendly. We each ordered a drink, an appetizer and a small plate. Somehow the entree menu didn't interest us. My part of the bill came to $80 (including tips). I think it's a bit overpriced. The octopus had been one of my fav tapas dishes all over the world. This one wasn't. The meat was mushy and perhaps not the most fresh. The garnish feels lack luster. The fish and chips received similar feedback - seems under seasoned. For the fish taco I wish I'd asked for grilled fish because while I give credit for the efforts to make a loaded taco, I find the fish was lost and confused. My fav was the mussels. Good flavoring and fresh mussels. The limoncello martini was also a delight. While it's a good experience I think there is room for stronger performance both in the kitchen and the wait staff.

From RVA but living in Vegas. Stopped by Oceano while visiting family in midlothian. Everything was delicious. I had the calamari to start and the main dish was the chicken Alfredo with shrimp. Ambience & service I will definitely be back.

Food was amazing and don't let the prices fool you. It is a large portion for what you pay and two appetizers can fill you up

The atmosphere was welcoming and the service was fast. My waitress was very understanding and patient during my visit. I really enjoyed the French Fries and the chocolate mousse was delicious. Just the right amount of sweetness.

I just realized that I have never given Oceano a review. I've been here on more than a few occasions at this point and it is so due a review. Honestly, everything I have ever tried is absolutely delicious. Sometimes I wonder why they are not busier or packed. There were good amount of tables but I just feel like it should be more packed for a Friday evening. They need to consider decorating for the holidays, as they have such a great space to decorate. Napa down the road in Westchester decorated for the first time and their business is amazing for the holidays. At any rate my son had the Angus Burger, my husband had the salmon and I had the sweet corn cappelletti. All was delicious and we cleaned our plates. The stand out was our starter, we got the Leche de Tigre ceviche which was amazing. That could've been a meal itself. In hindsight I wish I did get it as a meal and then got some of their she crap soup special with caviar lol! Anyway, great spot and highly recommend dinner here especially if you love seafood!

One of THE best meals/Valentine's Day dinners I've had! I have driven past Oceano countless times and when searching for options for Valentine's Day dinner earlier this year I wanted to find something that was relatively convenient due to my late work schedule. We were able to secure a reservation for Valentine's Day at 8:15 PM and they also had reservations that started even after that. Upon arriving, the restaurant was packed as was the bar area it seemed very lively, which is always a good sign. Once we were seated, I was a little bit nervous though because no one came to acknowledge us as our server for the first ~ 5 to 10 minutes. And it just so happened that there were two other servers in the area one of which that I stopped and asked if he was our server and his reply was "I can be". So starting this review off with a huge s/o to Jamell (sp) because he was the best! He gave us great feedback on the menu items and made sure that our drinks tasted amazing and he was so so so personable. Also, there was a woman who was walking around the dining area (I assumed that maybe she was a manager or something) But I know she had on a cap and a maybe a denim apron. But she checked on us once as well and I did appreciate that. I loved my red sangria and I was told that it's a special house blend/mix and I had two of those. My fiancé ended up not liking his because he said it was too fruity for him (he only got it to match me lol) so he switched to a jack and Coke I think and it was perfect. If you like a nice strong drink like us it's perfect. Now for the food... I was blown away. I will absolutely say that the website for this restaurant does not do the food any justice in my opinion. Because when we were researching my fiancé and I were a little bit nervous as to whether or not we would leave the restaurant full, especially with their primary focus being on seafood. However, they fooled us and I am so glad and I cannot wait to return. My legit only complaint about the food was about one of our appetizers. We ordered the Fritto misto and it was supposed to be a mix of calamari and fried shrimp and we only had one fried shrimp on our plate. I love seafood, I love fried shrimp but I also love calamari so it really was not a huge deal to me . But that is literally the only "complaint"that I have but it was fried to perfection and the sauce that they provided took it over the top! We even used the sauce for the Colombian empanadas that we ordered and chef's kiss. The lamb sliders were another hit. The slaw with the lamb was a perfect combination. It tasted so fresh like honestly the kitchen staff, the chefs, perfection no complaints, no notes, perfection! The entrees! So my fiancé was trying to step out of his box and order something different because 9 times out of 10 he's ordering steak. He decided to go for the salmon. and again he was worried that it wasn't going to be enough food, but we were clearly fooled. It was a nice hearty piece of fish. Now that plantain mash was sooooo good, we love plantains we love Mofongo like it was perfect. The salsa on top of the salmon literally set off the whole entire dish. As soon as I looked at the menu and Jamell confirmed I knew I was ordering the paella and I have no regrets. The paella could easily be split between two people to share as an entrée. However, I enjoy food. I am a foodie and I eat a lot, so I just shared a couple of spoonfuls lol. However, I did take a little bit home and Jamell was right... the leftovers tasted just as good as they did when I ate it in person. It was like an explosion or a flavor party in every bite. The chicken breast was moist. The shrimp were good. The chorizo was good. The scallops were cooked to perfection. I don't even know how you cook all the things that have to be cooked at different temperatures and they all taste so good but they did it and I was amazed. I can't wait to go back to Oceano. Because apparently they also have a good brunch....10/10 experience pelaseeee go visit !

    Salmon, delish! Crispy side up!

It was a Monday evening so the restaurant was slow but that was good for us because we could make a last minute reservation! The service was great! We enjoyed our waiter's recommendations. First, they brought delicious warm bread served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dipping. It was just what we needed to start. I had the salmon and my friend had the Charleston shrimp and grits. The dishes were both amazing! I love the quaint restaurant. It's larger than it look and can seat larger parties comfortably. The ONLY reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because they were drilling in the bar area next to where our table was while we were eating. This should have been done on off hours. Other than that, this place is a must go!

Overall, the dinner itself went smoothly, and our families enjoyed celebrating the players and coaches together. Unfortunately, the customer experience with ownership during the planning process and event was disappointing. While I completely understand minimum requirements for reserving private event space, there was repeated emphasis and concern surrounding the spending minimum throughout the coordination process and even during the event itself. Instead of feeling welcomed and appreciated as a large community group supporting a local business, the interaction often felt centered more around financial concern than hospitality. There was also confusion and unnecessary stress surrounding simple accommodations, such as pizza options for small children and menu flexibility questions. Additionally, rather than proactively communicating where we stood relative to the minimum during the evening, the remaining balance was not discussed until checkout, resulting in an out-of-pocket charge at the end of the event. Understanding the possibility of having to pay the difference was discussed during planning and I was reminded of this upon arrival, it still would have been kind to provide a heads up with regards to where the group stood vs waiting until the very end. Maybe even providing an option for the group to still have an opportunity to purchase more items. I truly appreciated the servers and the quality of the food, but the overall experience with management unfortunately took away from what should have been a celebratory and enjoyable evening for our team families.

We entered and were greeted with " do you have a reservation" in a very un-inviting tone. We both said no. If she said follow me, it was faint. We knew to follow her. I should have walked out !!! The Restaurant was practically empty !! Maybe a total of 20. We walked up a small ramp that lead us to a larger dining area where we saw a few guests. At our table standing was a youthful warm smile waiting that made us feel ok to stay. I overheard someone calling the name of the woman at the door, and they said Patricia. Our server's name was Jocelyn and she was very delightful. Our server made suggestions and explained that most of the pasta is made in house. Still observing and listening. OMG, the woman is the manager. Mam, I'm sure you will be pleased to know that we will NOT return. She walked by several times smiling and conversing warmly with other guests. This is an authentic looking and a bit dated Italian Restaurant. I'll be brief here. I had the spaghetti and meat sauce. The pasta had that obvious taste of homemade and the sauce as well. The bread was homemade with the potential to be good, if it was warm and soft, not crunchy. I had the salad packaged to go. Appetizer was fried zucchini that was golden brown, crunchy and flavorful. RVA has MANY Choices of restaurants to choose and I should've known better.

The pizza didn't quite live up to the rest of the menu, especially with "Pizzeria" in the name. It wasn't bad, just not on the same level as the entrées. Skip the pizza and go for the traditional Italian dishes -- that's where they really deliver.

The hostess…read moresituation is completely disheveled, as it was the last two times I came here, so they haven't worked that out yet. The sign says "wait to be seated", but there's no one attending the hostess station. This is a common, recurring problem here. After a solid five minutes of standing there with no greeting from anyone, a waiter sees us and comes over to ask how many. We tell him we have a reservation for three people, give him our name, and say he says OK I'll be right back. Let me see what I have set up. Off he goes, and we never see him again. So we stand there another 4 to 5 minutes, and a second waiter comes by to tend to us. We give our name and reservation details. He goes off, also never to be seen again. We wait another 3 to 4 minutes and a woman who looks like the hostess comes around and so for the third time we give our name reservation time and tell her that we requested a booth. She takes a long time, stacking menus and putting the paper part back into the menu sleeves, and then finally gets three menus together and takes us to a table. So then we have to say (again), no we requested a booth, and so then we have to stand by a dirty booth and wait for them to clean it. So the whole beginning of the dinner process is already a mess and that sets a terrible and frustrating tone for the evening. First experiences inside a restaurant are so important and they just don't recognize that here On to dinner. Our waitress comes over and she's lovely, friendly, and seems on top of things at the beginning . We order a couple of drinks and the meatball appetizer while we peruse the menu. A long time goes by and we get our drinks. And then another long time goes by with no appetizer appearing at the table and she comes to take our dinner order. (She had not yet read us the specials so we had to ask for what they were because we heard the waiter behind us giving the specials, but couldn't hear well enough to catch them-I'm pretty sure our waitress was gonna skip over reciting the specials-) . After again, another long amount of time our salads come out, but still no appetizer. So I mention..." we have a meatball appetizer coming right?". She says yes and heads off. (The appetizer should come before the salad, especially when it was ordered way before). So halfway through the salads, the meatballs come. Now I love a meatball and all varieties of a meatballs. These were super firm (like... it took a hard push with a knife to cut into them ), they were barely lukewarm, with a barely melted slab of mozzarella on top. Had they been hot, with the cheese nice and bubbly, they would have been pretty good despite being overly firm and super salty (and I love salt) Entrees came piping hot and were very good (mezze rigatoni and lobster ravioli, and a kids spaghetti) Garlic knots were delicious. Wine pour was great. I think the kitchen, not the waitress, was super slow which impacted our experience. And for a place that stays this busy, they need to hire a hostess to attend the front desk, so that guests are promptly welcomed and seating is managed efficiently. Menu is extensive and the place has great potential.

It looks like it would be more of an upscale place, but I would say it's a normal eatery that works well for a casual lunch or something a little nicer too. They offered a selection of lunch specials as well as their regular menu with appetizers, salads, subs, pasta, etc. After much deliberation (the server stopped by probably three times and we still weren't ready) I decided on the fettuccine with white clam sauce which came with some bread and butter, and soup or salad. I went with the soup of the day which was chicken orzo. My mom chose the lamb gyro sandwich and for her side she went with the veggie of the day which was roasted Brussels sprouts with honey. Overall I thought the food was good. It was definitely well-seasoned. The orzo in the soup was a little mushy for my preference, but the fettuccine was a good texture. The white clam sauce was loaded with clams and garlic. I really enjoyed my dish. My mom enjoyed her gyro sandwich, I did take a small taste of the lamb and it was delicious. The Brussels sprouts were probably my favorite of everything though. They were roasted perfectly, still a little firm with some crispier toastier leaves in the mix and a sweet glaze. The service was fine, I thought the server was very nice. She was most attentive when waiting for us to order, and at the end of our meal she boxed our food up for us which is always a nice touch.
