Honestly was not impressed. It seems like they are trying to make this restaurant fancy but are lacking in more ways than one. The steak was not seasoned, the proportions of sides were very small. We had to ask our waitress 3 different times for butter and still didn't get any. The calamari was not bad-it was probably the best thing we ate while there. They also over charge for bottle beer but I will say the mixed drink I got was good. The bathrooms were also dirty. Overall we will not be back. My husband and I went there for my birthday and we had gone there for my birthday the year before and when they asked me if I wanted my birthday dessert, I told him I had celiac and they gave me a different dessert than the one offered for birthdays. Well, the last time we went there for my birthday they never even offered me a birthday dessert because I had told the girl I was celiac and I guess she just decided that because I was celiac that I didn't need a dessert at all, and she gave us our bill. And I said what about my birthday dessert and she said well you can't have one because you have celiac. This was my second visit. The glaring deficiency the first time was inexperienced over anxious waitstaff. This was an issue this trip also but not as bad. Maybe management has them pushing to turn tables. Either way, give a little time to settle in before reciting the specials and pressing for appetizers. I had the halibut and was sorely disappointed. It was served in 3 small matchbox size pieces around the plate. The worst part is it was overlooked and I ordered the " large piece". I've never been served halibut anywhere that it wasn't presented in one large thick piece. My dinning companions article char was superb. And you always thought it was so amazing that the cookies were all baked perfectly and the tree imprints were just beautiful and your mom was totally the BEST for baking these cookies? ...and then do you remember the day you found out that that little pesky Pillsbury Doughboy was the REAL chef? And that the cookies came from a tube instead of from a magical combination of sugar, flour and eggs? But it didn't matter because those cookies were still amazing anyhow? I ordered a pomegranate martini and my husband had a margarita. The drinks were delicious. We had a second round. The bread and pesto served before our meal was awesome. My husband ordered the fish and chips and I ordered the shrimp and scallops. One piece of my husband's fish was extra thick and wasn't cooked thoroughly. He said overall he has had better fish and chips at other places. I had the shrimp and scallops with mashed potatoes and broccoli. Broccoli was overcooked. Mashed potatoes were awesome. Shrimp and scallops were fine. I wish they both had a little more seasoning. I did have the mango salsa which was really good. Atmosphere was very nice and the service was good. The Bottom Line: Quality seafood location for those interested in dressing up and enjoying a classy dinner. Butterfly Thoughts: To start off our meal we ordered the Bang Bang Shrimp which is a crispy shrimp appetizer covered in a kind of spicy cheesy type sauce. I would definitely recommend this as a starter. I ordered the Lily's Chicken without artichokes. The chicken was delicious, and the toppings of goat cheese and spinach really set off all of the flavors. As a side I chose the potatoes au gratin which were a cheesy mashed potatoes that the waiter recommended. Eskimo Thoughts: I ordered the Imperial Longfin which came stuffed with all the great meats (shrimp, crab & scallops). The lemon caper butter complemented the meats very well. The portion size was okay but I was expecting a more filling plate. I'm not much of a fish eater but the meal was flavorful enough that I would recommend. As silly as it may sound, I find it disappointing that they do not offer mints. Something this simple is usually provided in every restaurant so you would think even more so with a fishy place. Mom's at Bunco and we had a gift card to burn and needed equal treatment of yummies! Took the two men to dinner and we really enjoyed our meal. First off - we ordered the BFG - Donuts. Mom alway forbids us dessert, so we decided to start with it first. Second for the evening - two orders of Bang Bang Shrimp. There are no words for this delicacy! Super fantastic and probably super easy to make, but oh so good! Dinner for my youngest and I was the Chilean Sea Bass. Ok, I looked it up and the real name of this fish is: Dissostichus eleginoides, the Patagonian toothfish, a species of cod icefish found in cold waters in the southern Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans. Probably not the most elegant name - thus it is now a Chilean Sea Bass! Ha, only in America. My oldest son had the sirloin and crab cake. We love the crab cakes here - they are as good or better than a Maryland seafood shoppe. Service was spectacular - most Wichita restaurants get it - it's just we seem to sort of have a lock on good service here in the Midwest. But, in general, BFG is superior to all chains I've dined at. Only a couple of high end Steak Houses can match it. Unless you are allergic to shrimp, you should always order the Bang Bang Shrimp! They are so delicious and you will thank me for recommending this delicacy. Ironically, I've never ordered any fish here despite the restaurant being named Bonefish. Service has always been consistently excellent throughout all of these years. I've never had to make reservations but I always get seated promptly. Perhaps it's due to the fact that I normally have dinner way earlier than the average human being. My only complaint would have to be the lighting. The restaurant is really really dark, which makes it difficult to read the menu. Other than the Bang Bang Shrimp, the Wagyu Beef + Ginger Potstickers are also good. Don't eat too many of them though because you could easily get full before you even get to the main entree! I usually order either the Sirloin + Crab Cake Dinner or the Angler's Steak. I don't care much for sides, but their whipped garlic potatoes are the best I've ever had and that's coming from someone who hardly ever makes bold claims. By the time you're done with your entree, you're probably extremely full (if not on food, then on water). If you still have room for desserts, you should check out their Macadamia Nut Brownie! I was a little disappointed when I checked the menu online to see that the Muscles Josephine was no longer an option. So for me...strike one. Moreover, I placed an order via the telephone for pick up. We ordered the following: bang bang shrimp, calamari, Atlantic salmon with French fries and macaroni and cheese, fish and chips, and crab cakes. BFG advised 20 minutes for the food, so I called and them brought it to the vehicle. I figured I didn't have to check my food, because you know, Bonefish. Whelp, I got home, and pulled the food out and I was pissed. I was so pissed. My crab cakes? More like a pile of mush. My salmon didn't have French Fries, our calamari was mostly peppers and lettuce...but the worst part? The Bang Bang Shrimp--it wasn't even tossed in the sauce. Come on! It's a signature dish. Get. It. Together. Anyway, the taste of the food was great, per usual, but the quality was subpar. I called to complain because my kid didn't get his fries, they gave me a $5.00 refund. I mean okay. I want to give just one star, but Abby was a fantastic server. I ordered the lunch special, "Maryland Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes" with one side, "Garlic Mashed Potatoes". When delivered, the crab cakes were not cakes. I don't know what happened to the binding agent, but my plate had two loose piles of an unidentified crab entree. As to the 'jumbo' - no way. If it was crab, it more resembled minced crab. The largest chuck I could find was about 1/4" cube, and it did not have much rich crab flavor one would expect. As one who formerly lived and worked in Baltimore, this offering was anything but "Maryland" style. The mashed potatoes, although decent, were missing any hint of garlic, as advertised. I have never had an experience at Bone Fish like I had last night. Granted there were nine of us, but they weren't super busy. It took forever to get our drinks (and they all were delivered at different times ). It was my friends birthday and she ordered a martini off the menu, and although it tasted ok, the smell was gross (either the glass wasn't washed properly or they used a dirty dish rag to clean it). My food was "Ok." The fish was dry, and my potatoes were cold. It took them forever to bring our checks, (we offered at the beginning to tell them how to split the tab and were told that wasn't necessary until it came time to cash out).. We finally had someone in our party take our tickets to the register. The one person that paid cash had to go to the register to get her change, and the cashier couldn't verbally communicate counting it back. What a lovely restaurant: dimly lit, romantic, and professional. The staff is seemingly excellent, and the speed is what you would expect in a place like Bonefish grill. As far as the food goes - relating to what I'd ordered - it is not worth the cost. The Pad Thai lacks all the great strangeness that you find in the greatest Thai restaurants - or even the not-so-great. At $14 or $16 dollars - I can't remember, and they don't publish it - you'd expect superlative flavor and panache. What you receive is a dish with too much pepper, screaming spicy all over the more subtle staples of fish sauce - or more rarely, tamarind paste. It was definitely an American rendition of the dish. Don't get me wrong though, I understand the Bonefish Grill mainly serves fish; ergo, buy fish at the Bonefish Grill. Well, I hadn't brought my untraceable bearer bonds to cash in, in exchange for any of the wildly expensive pieces of fish they offer; I consigned myself to an oldie but goodie. And with such a classy environment and high fish prices, I assumed that any noodle dish that the executive chef felt confident enough to charge $14 to $16 for had to be phenomenal. Zen Zero in Lawrence, or Wai Wai in Overland Park have the best Pad Thai in my locale at only $12 each, so the Bonefish must really have something special. I must report that all they offer is fancy prices, wonderful atmosphere, and cultural misappropriation of a national Taiwanese treasure; but I haven't had the fish, so I cannot comment on its execution. The fish looks fabulous, but nevertheless, I find it hard to give $40 for a piece of fish in Kansas, which does seems at odds with itself. The freshest fish I've had on the coasts are much cheaper, mind-numbingly flavorful, and ubiquitous. The worst fish I've had is far away from the coasts, usually the most expensive, and akin in taste to unseasoned boiled pork or chicken. I also understand the cost of transport, but I guess if you want Chilean Sea Bass of the prairie, it'll cost 'ya. I will prepare next time, and bring at least $100. Still, avoid the Pad Thai, because it is sadly amiss. Stick to the fish, and bring money. read more

She never asked us how our entrees were when my broccoli was inedible. One of the other waiters came and picked our plates up THEN I was able to tell them the broccoli was raw.
