Service was disappointing during my last visit. Even though we were seated with about 15 minutes left during happy hour, we were not offered the happy hour prices on drinks. We enjoyed eating at Bonefish Grill. Though they were very busy, it didn't seem like a very long wait to be seated. They also, kindly, allowed us to share an entree, even going so far as to bring an extra plate for us as well. The service was fast, friendly, and very knowledgeable about the food on the menu. The food was superior and the waitress and manager were super helpful in making sure that our gift card worked out exactly right, dollar-wise, for what we ordered. Very nice decor and super clean. After dining in many of the typical Wichita establishments that are always so-so and most often a disappointment, a trip to the Bonefish Grill was a welcome treat. The sophisticated atmosphere is calm and soothing, and the white tablecloths and uniforms of the wait staff hint that the meal will be more than you expect. My dish was the rainbow trout, served with potatoes au gratin and some type of side garnish made with corn. A cold dinner salad came with the entree, prepared with fresh greens, tomatoes, and a house vinaigrette dressing. It was very well prepared, fresh, and delicious. The trout was excellent, too--accompanied by a tasty mango relish that created a delicious compliment to the flavors of the fish and its seasoning. I really liked the potatoes, too. Encrusted in a layer of crisp breadcrumbs, I could tell that these were not just scooped out of a big tub and plopped onto the plate. A small loaf of bread was served with the meal, along with a plate of dipping oil infused with various herbs and spices. My food took a little longer than I thought it should to come out, but it may have been the time of day that I was dining, early afternoon (shift change?). A little pricier than the average Chili's experience, but well worth it. Good food, good service, and nice atmosphere. One of my favorite restaurants in Wichita, and it's a chain restaurant! I love the Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer and the fantastic creme brule' for dessert (the regular and the chocolate...mmm). The entree's are very good as well, but rather filling, especially if you order an appetizer. I like to get just an appetizer and dessert. Disclaimer: I do not like fish, I think that is smells terrible, but my friends wanted to go here, so... I had to suck it up and find something other than fish to eat. I went here by the request of one someone in our party. I started out with 2 cocktails which were really very well made. I had 2 martinis (lemon drop and a pineapple martini). They were satisfactory and the best part of this meal frankly. One friend ordered the Bang Bang Shrimp for an appetizer/meal. 3/3 liked it and said you can't go wrong. I cannot comment on the taste because I did not have any. I ordered the Half-Pound American Kobe Beef Burger with french fries. I thought it was under seasoned and had a weird texture in the beef. Not a fan and I would not order this again. My friend ordered a filet mignon which actually was the joke of the meal. It came out looking bizarre... it had the look of ground beef... and the gentlemen who ordered it was very unhappy and even asked the waitress to confirm that this "ground beef" looking steak was indeed a filet... and she said "I know it looks weird, but it is a center cut filet.".... It was unlike ANY filet I have ever seen. Needless to say, he was not happy with his meal. Another friend ordered the fish tacos and she was happy with her meal. So long story short. I didn't want to go here in the first place, and I did not order fish in any way, so chalk it up to ordering beef at a fish restaurant, but if you are looking for a steak/burger, obviously this is not the best restaurant to go to. The Waterfront development at 13th and Webb has definitely become the center of high-end chain restaurants and the addition of Bonefish Grill about a year ago definitely brought something sorely missing from the Wichita restaurant scene. Finally a place with a great selection of good seafood choices! This place may be a chain, and there are over 160 nationwide, but the service level and food quality puts to shame most independent restaurants in Wichita. Bonefish brings to Wichita what is typical for a high end dining experience in a large metro area. It may be formula, but it's a darn good formula they are reproducing. With a brand new building in the upscale Waterfront development, a nicely done interior environment, a professional well trained staff, and a menu with excellent choices it's hard to go wrong. The servers all wear white kitchen uniforms, which is a nice touch. Our server was quite friendly and took the time to explain how things work at Bonefish since it was our first time. They have about ten seafood selections and a nice assortment of four sauce choices. Eight of the nine appetizer choices were seafood dishes, such as crab cakes, mussels, a few shrimp dishes, etc. All looked yummy. For those that are not seafood inclined in your party, they have a nice selection of pastas, chicken, and steak dishes, so everyone should be happy coming here. The prices are reasonable, especially given the upscale environment and service level. They have a pretty decent selection of wines by the glass and the bar area is pretty large and nice. Overall it was a great experience and now I have a new place to add to my regular rotation of favorites. read more

This place has some of the best tasting fish entrees in Wichita. The setting is a little fancier than most establishments so it's best to dress nice. They don't seem to mind having kids in there. However, it is a very quiet restaurant so it would be best not to bring loud kids inside. On average you will pay about $20 for a fish entree. read more

Very nice seafood restaurant with upscale decor, yet a down-to-earth feeling as they rip off large sheets of brown paper to cover your table. Reading some of the previous Yelp reviews, they must be making an attempt at better wait service, as our waitress was over-the-top too happy, loud and in your face - not what I want when I eat out.... Be pleasant and check on me once in a while, but you don't have to overdo it. And, don't ask me how the food is.... I know good and well that a waiter or waitress does not go back to the chef and tell him/her what we don't like about our meal. The "how's everything" in the food industry is just as much a habit as our "hi, how are you today; oh, I'm fine, how are you?" greeting. The food was good, but nothing special. I had Lilly's chicken and was expecting it to be "stuffed" with goat cheese and spinach, yet it was delivered with the same on top of the chicken. It was tasty, but goat cheese goes a long way when you get a mouthful of it. As well, the garlic mashed potatoes are stand up and shout it out GARLIC MASHED POTATOES! Now, I liked them and felt like any heart disease I may have had was instantly cured, but most may not appreciate Bonefish's take on Emeril LaGasse's love affair with the garlic. My hubs had the tilapia with mango salsa and enjoyed it with a side of potatoes au gratin. The potatoes could definitely be improved upon with a higher grade of cheese instead of the standard run of the mill "cheddar." All in all, it was a decent meal, nothing special, but certainly not good enough for me to return. Yes, this is a CORPORATE establishment, much like Red Lobster, Olive Garden, but on a nicer scale. I live in California, but when I come to Kansas to visit family, I make it a point to eat here. I LOVE the Bang Bang Shrimp, but I often get it with rice instead of on a bed of salad. This makes it more of a meal for me. The cheesy sauce mixed in with the rice is oh so delish. Not one to complain much about food but this has been my favorite restaurant for years. Our bang bang shrimp tonight did not have sauce on it and had to ask for sauce. The garlic mashed potato's did not taste like normal and my lobster tail was chewy and rubbery, overcooked. I spoke with the one of the workers and she explained they were giving each item a process so they are all made the same. She stated they are now putting a limited amount of bang bang sauce on the shrimp and that they changed how they make their potatoes and are putting less garlic in them. this is one of a national chain of high end fish and wine restaurants. in this context, i was less than enthused by the quality of service and the quality of the food. I think it is a good option for the location, but a bit on the pricey side for what it delivers....as opposed to what i advertises that it delivers. It was pretty disorganized from the start. the three of us were seated at a table for 6 which was right next to an open table for 4. and there was a party of 6 waiting. this had to have been a mistake. Next we got the snobbiest waiter I've had in a while. This really surprised me for a chain restaurant in Witchita, being from Chicago myself. Because I ordered beer instead of wine, he didn't treat me very well for the rest of the evening. We started with the ahi sashimi appetizer, which was sesame seed encrusted and pan seared (!). If you can't get fresh enough fish to serve sushi....don't call it sushi to begin with. I was disappointed but my dining companions enjoyed it. I had the Chilean Sea Bass with Lemon Butter sauce which was quite good. The others at my table had filet, shrimp, and scallop combos which they seemed very happy with as well. My experience at Bonefish lacked the polish I would expect from a $50+ meal. My impression is you're experience may vary depending on your server, but for me, there are better choices close by that I would return to. read more

Our anniversary rolled around and Bonefish was on my husbands mind. His first time, my second visit. We ordered the swordfish, the portion was smaller than I imagined for a $20 piece of fish. Their sides were great, we ordered the additional Mac and cheese which we did not regret a bit. We also got the appetizer bang bang shrimp which was awesome. I wish we would of skipped the swordfish and just ate our fill on shrimp. The atmosphere was dim and romantic, perfect for a romantic date. The server was great and on top of it. My friend and I made reservations for dinner on a Saturday here so we were seated immediately. The service was fantastic; our server was very nice and attentive. She ordered her usual lobster tails while I gave one of the Wichita specials a try: Lobster Thermidor Mahi Mahi. My entrée was delicious! The sauce was creamy and flavorful, but it also completely overshadowed the mahi. Overall, the dish was good! For dessert, we split the chocolate crème brule, which was to-die-for! I recommend everyone to try the chocolate crème brule, and maybe share it because it is a lot of chocolaty custard goodness. read more

I have eaten here several times. The fish dishes are always very good but the sides are nothing special; especially the veggies. I understand the trend is not to cook veggies to death but these guys tend to leave then crunchy. Glazed carrot sticks were as raw as on a veggie tray. However, the sauteed spinach was nicely done. Needed our Bang Bang Shrimp fix!!! And we got it. Had the Chiliean sea bass with mango salsa. It was tasty, not too hot off the grill but I ate it all. Had the potatoes au gratin, very tasty. The highlight of the night was the jasmine rice!! Didn't look like much but the taste was amazing! My man had the filet mignon and tempura shrimp. The Bang Bang Shrimp still doesn't disappoint, but the entire experience is lacking. The first several times I ate here, excellent service from check in to Check out. The last two have been less than stellar. Wait in line 15 minutes to check in for reservations, then they 'forget' to check you in, 45 minutes after your reservation others who came in after are seated. Double check with staff, then you are on the list. They say to go sit in bar area to wait, but literally can't walk to bar area. Hostess was overwhelmed. Seem the check in and host staff need trained as there were constantly 10-15 open tables and no one of the approximate 50 people were seated there. They finally 'seat' us at the bar, not a table. The three actual tables by the bar area never had anyone seated at them from our bEginning wait till we left. Meanwhile, table constantly bounced around by bar patrons and staff. The bar table we were seated at actually had patrons leaning on it for half of our meal. Very poor front of house staff overall. Our server was a bright spot with Very attentive service. The first thing that hits you when you go through the doors is a very strong fish smell. I know it is a fish place but a quality restaurant wouldn't reek of it. The second was a wave of very hot air. The air conditioning in half the restaurant was broken (in July). We were seated and there was a pile of completed checks on the table which the hostess did not pick up. Nor did anyone the 19 times staff passed our table. Neither did they greet us, or bring water. A simple "I'll be right with you" would have sufficed. After 9 minutes we just walked out and went a feed doors down to Firebirds were we greeted immediately. I have eaten at Bonefish Grill multiple times over the past few years with my family, and for the first time tonight on a date. This restaurant is both a great restaurant for a nice meal with your family (but probably not for young children) or on a date. Service is great, and the waitstaff is definitely experienced! Very friendly, very helpful, and always there to fill your water, or answer any questions about the menu or specials. As a seafood lover, I always get eager to eat at Bonefish, and I have never been disappointed. I enjoy the fish off the grill with any of Bonefish's four signature sauces. My first time to the restaurant and by George, it was one of the worse experiences I have ever encountered at a restaurant. Our server was not friendly and didn't really make our experience personal. She even forgot to bring some of the items that we ordered. In regards to the meal, my SO's meal (Basil Fettuccine) was too watery and the noodles were drenched in random ingredients that tried to cover up the bad taste. My meal (steak) was too tough to eat. The couple next to us had to send their meal for the exact same reasons. The only reason for the 2-star rating was that the manager apologized for the experience and comp one of the meals.
