Decided to see what the place was about since we were at Apple hill. It took about 15 mins of sharp turns and no shoulder roads. Its a friendly bar atmosphere with low lighting and country/rock music being played. The wait was long, but the food is great. They run out of fries and onion rings it looks like daily. The burger was well crafted with a great burger patty and the onion rings were perfectly cooked and crispy. The pulled pork sandwich had a lot of flavor and the garlic fries were good. They have a pool table inside and patio to sit outside and WiFi. Also, had a sign for karaoke on Wed. We recommend the burger and onion rings if you are out in these neck of the woods, but you better reserve some time to chill and not be in a hurry. read more

This review is focused on the restaurant service vs the bar. This is a great place to come if you're in no hurry to get your food. The burgers are darn tasty but the wait is long. It took 1 hour and 4 minutes, after ordering, for my party of 10 to get our food on a Saturday mid afternoon. I had the bacon cheddar burger with onion rings. The burger was tasty. It was seasoned well and was made of quality meat. The onion rings were delicious, it had a nice cornmeal type crust. The grilled onions were grilled to a sweet caramelization. The iced tea is home brewed. The interior is very basic and no nonsense. They have a pool table. Again, the food is tasty but the wait is soooo horrendously looooonnnnnngggg. read more

We sat in the patio area, old but clean. Patio area tables all full customers, tables COVID-19 separation compliant, but only one waitress. Took a long time before waitress took our drink order. It took so long for the waitress to make it to our table to take our food order, we started to feel like the waitress was avoiding our table. Three of my party were getting mad, one wanted to leave. I cooled everyone down noting the waitress was alone and she was working hard to take and delivery everyone's orders. When we were finally able to order: we ordered double cheese burger with fries- very good. Patty melt with onion rings- patty melt had dry bread, not anything to to write about however the onion rings were good but they only give you 4-5 rings. The bone's hot dog was NOT impressive, 1. dry bun, 2. Served missing toppings. 3. Would not recommend ordering it. I recommend going there but order their cheeseburger or double cheeseburger with onion rings. read more

Bones had really gone down hill over the last couple of years. I've been a regular here for years since I live just a few miles away, but recently the staff has changed and the food and service has both suffered for it. I recently went in with my husband for taco night, sat at a table and never received service. The bartender was serving the bar, and there were two waitresses for the tables, both of which walked passed us three times and never acknowledged us. There was a total of 4 tables which for two waitresses is not a lot. The waitresses were too busy socializing with the people at the bar. No one said a word to us, and after 10 minutes we got up and walked out. This was our final trip to Bones. Prior we were on the fence because we received a burger that was still frozen in the middle, but thought it was a one off. I will not be back. read more

What a great place to grab a beer and a burger. On a recent vacation to Somerset/Fairplay, we decided we really need a good burger. Our fellow yelpers led us to the right place. Bones is a small but mighty local pub with a great bar menu of burgers and sandwiches. We each ordered a 1/2 lb cheeseburger basket. Each burger came with lettuce, tomato, and a portion of piping hot, fresh cut, French fries (yum). We added avocado for an extra charge, but it was about 1/2 and avocado on each burger. Burgers were served in lined baskets with plastic cutlery (don't judge, I am making clear that this is GREAT BAR FOOD--not haute cuisine). My husband had a draft Hazelnut Brown Ale, one of about 6 draft beer selections (and quite a few bottled ones). They are also a full service bar. read more

Out for a Saturday drive we happened upon this little gem... needless to say, our expectations were exceeded! Greeted by a clean and well laid out bar area, pool table and a smile. Beers were cold and the back patio very nice! Our meal was excellent! The menu is simple with about 10-15 items, but they are well done and exceptionally prepared! The Big Daddy Dog was AWESOME! Onion rings were cooked to perfection and the garlic fries left us speechless! The service was top notch and I will be back! Well....I've just read through all of the other reviews and they all hit the nail on the head! As a "Biker", I get tired of hearing about great Biker Bars only to be greatly dissappointed when you get there to find a dump. This place is anything but a dump! I have made two trips to "Bones Roadhouse" in the last couple of weeks and both times have been outstanding to say the least! Not only is the food fantastic but the folks running the place are great people! A very rare combination these days but when you are genuinely running a business to make people happy....you can tell! I had a burger and added pastrami ...... beyond great! Today I had one of their Philly sandwiches......another fine choice on my part. However,,,,,,if there is one thing that will make a great place.....well.....a great place......the patio....with ash trays for my cigar time!! Yep.....they have one. I'm new to the area and thought this would be a good place to watch a football game. Ordered a beer--and a couple more--during the game. Tab: 20 bucks!! The menu didn't have prices listed for beers, whether draft or bottled. The person next to me ordered a Bud Lite and got sticker shock as well. My pint was at least $1.50 more than the most expensive place I've ever had before--and 2-2.5 dollars more than most places. If it had been advertised, that would be one thing, but the food isn't that great--okay if you like fried foods--and the vibe isn't worth the ridiculous overcharge. We recently moved to the area and while on a motorcycle ride we decided to stop here. The boyfriend is a bodybuilder and LOVES FOOD so he was excited just to eat a burger. We stopped by Bones today for our first time visit. The place is casual and comfortable. The staff was friendly and perfectly attentive. We had the pastrami sandwich and cheeseburger. I ordered fries but it came with onion rings but no big deal because they were really good. The pastrami sandwich and burger were awesome! They were both fresh and full of flavor. Bones is a great place for a burger and a beer. Try the fried pickles and onion rings too. They are the best I've ever had. The reason for 3 stars... The wait staff is preoccupied either visiting in the bar area or smoking outside. We waited 30 minutes along with three other tables while our waitress was smoking out back. My youngest son says that the taste is very unique and that the beef is amazing!! My eldest son says it's a little messy but he still agrees with the rating!! my hubby says he'd like to give me a rating for it but right now he can't talk his mouth is full ;) just kidding he says it's an excellent burger he doesn't want to put it down. It is a good thing that they have paper towels but every table because yes I agree it is a little messy. I'm not sure how much that has to do with the fact that we are ordered grilled onions for our burgers?! I was wholly excited to see that as an option!!! I also upgraded with bacon and it was a cheesy stupid bacon it was thick amazingly cooked perfect bacon!!!! The garlic fries were keeping with garlic... The onion rings were also amazing and we had some deep-fried pickles they no longer have the pickle chips but they have pickle spears and those were to die for... rumor has it that the pickle chips used to break apart which wasn't any good and that these were more visually appealing but they're also excellent taste the pickle come through perfectly!!! The deep-fried mushrooms were Willie well done as well. They had that kind of watery sense about them but we're still crisp which is really hard to pull off with mushrooms. Stopped in for a burger after a large rain storm. The carpet was so wet it soaked through my shoes. When I asked the waitress about it she was very dismissive and rude. 5 min later she returned to take our order and she was a different person, overly sweet (can you say super fake?) I wanted to leave but my husband was too hungry. So my question is if you don't care about the cleanliness and safety of your restaurant are you going to care if the food is prepared properly or if it even fresh? Standing water is a huge concern. Mold will start to grow! Yuck that was my last visit. Too bad I used to think this place was awesome. read more

Why the address says 'Placerville' I don't know - it's actually in an unincorporated area called Pleasant Valley, heading from Diamond Springs to Sly Park. We did a quick pullover for lunch on the way to Jenkinson Lake, and we're glad. It's a simple place - a bar, with a small menu to keep you from buzzing out too soon. The menu only has burgers and BLTs. But WOW - what burgers. You see ads for 'Six-dollar Burgers' - these are the actual thing - and worth every penny. The meat was fresh and juicy, the burgers were verrrry filling, and both the fries and onion rings seemed homemade, and well-prepared. As it is a 'roadhouse', we are going to have to come back some night/weekend to see what it's like then. They do have a sign saying they're "biker friendly", so things might get interesting in an area where they put everything away at sundown. We'll update this review when we do. read more

Bones roadhouse is just what it sounds like. It's a little bar tucked away in the woods. They have a full bar, a pool table, and a regular seating area. I want to call this a biker bar, but it's not dark and grungy like your typical biker bar and since they have a seating area and they serve food, there were several families here with kids. So it's more like a biker friendly restaurant. We ordered an appetizer sampler and it was your typical deep fried everything. At any rate, I'd say the best part of this place was the service. The gals working there were the nicest you could ask for. Bottom line, if you're looking for a super casual place to stop for a beer or even take the family for lunch, this is a nice little stop. read more
