Boneshire is small place in an old strip mall that would be easy to miss if not for Yelp or referral. If you like craft beer and great pizza, you should be saving this one to your list. When I was in, the beer line up was fruit/sour heavy with selections such as Apple Pie Charlatan and Blueberry. I had a flight of four and enjoyed all of them. Their food menu is mostly limited to pizza - great pizza. They have some unique toppings and flavors you are not likely to find anywhere else. The pizzas are reasonably priced at $15 and can easily feed 2-3 people. They seem to do a lot of events as I saw advertisements for Trivia Nights and an upcoming German Beer and Food fest. Great atmosphere, craft brews and pizza! This was our first visit to the actual brewery as we'd only visited the taproom before. The atmosphere is casual, very welcoming, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Boneshire brewers are producing a nice variety of high quality craft beers, which we greatly enjoyed! We were not disappointed with any that we sampled. Their flagship, Green Machine, is solid and can hold its own against any other beers in PA. They also have options for non-beer drinking guests. One great surprise during our visit was the Pizza! It was incredible and is now added to my list as one of the top 5 pizzas in the HBG area! Yes, it was that good - Crust was perfect with a good balance of sauce and fresh toppings! The customer service welcoming and friendly, chatting with us throughout our visit and treating us like we were frequent visitors. ATTENTION This review is for Boneshire Taps in downtown Harrisburg!!! Great spot in Harrisburg's emerging "SoMa" district on south 3rd Street. This is currently a as beer-only establishment but the beers are excellent. There's limited outdoor seating but interior seating is nicely spaced. I've been to a ton of breweries in my days, and in addition to that, my husband did have the beer and it was his least favorite on our Harrisburg brew tour. It's located in a strip mall sort of area. The tasting area is pretty small, but there was no one else there. The logo, with a pig is misleading. They do not serve BBQ. They apparently planned to at one time, but currently don't. So don't go there if you're hoping to eat a meal. They do serve pickle flights! I'm a pickle fanatic, so you better believe I got me one of each. They were fantastic!! So what's my deal? Those were the most expensive pieces of pickles I've ever had! Seriously, calling them a pickle spare was an understatement. When he sat the trays in front of me, they were so small, I thought it was a joke... you know, like you would feel if someone opened a bag of chips and only gave you one? Nice selection of beer and pizza. They have some TV's up on the wall so that you can watch sports. You go up to the front counter to place your order and then your order is brought to you. Good beer. No bs at Boneshire (unless the burley bartender is behind the bar). Each beer is artfully crafted and a unique classic version of the style. A wide variety of styles from massive stouts, various IPAs showcasing a variety of hop blends, sessions, witbiers, berliners, sours, and one of my favorite porters I've had, as well as many delicious variations on those classic styles like a dark saison or a big mango belgian blonde. There is a wine selection from some local wineries and a wide selection of craft sodas. Food selections include a variety of snacks including chips, pretzels, and a full line of gourmet pickle choices. Also available are the normal pizza shop selections from Marino's where they will quickly deliver to your table if you call it in, food truck smoked meats when available also delivered to your table, and there is a Nepalese restaurant in the strip as well. El Sol Express will deliver to the brewery as well if your in the mood for something south of the border or a little spicy. Bottom line is excellent beer, top notch friendly service, good food, and plenty of entertainment to keep you enjoying tasty libations as long as you desire. read more

A neat little brewery tucked into an unsuspecting neighborhood of Harrisburg. It doesn't look like much when you pull up to the storefront in a strip mall with a temporary sign hung out front, however, once you enter, you will find a tastefully decorated tasting room with a great open view to the brewery itself. The staff was very helpful in guiding to the appropriate style of beer, and was more than happy to share their knowledge of the Harrisburg beer scene. My dad and I visited and got two flights, with each of their 7 beers and one of the guest taps. My favorite was the Que Será, a Belgian strong ale. There were several other good beers, including an apricot saison, the sales of which are helping to fund a local documentary about craft beer in Harrisburg. Overall well worth a visit, and I hope to be back on a future trip to Harrisburg. read more

However, the last thing you want to experience on an adult night out is a 3 year old screaming songs, yelling and rolling all over the floor at 9:45 at night. Stopped in here on a Friday night looking to spend a Local Flavor certificate I bought. We tried two flights of beers, each with four beers. The portions were very generous (4 oz each), and I can honestly say we really enjoyed all the beers we tried. They have a great Russian Imperial Stout, which is my favorite. There is no food to speak off, which I understand because it's obvious the focus is on the beer. There are games that you can play while you're drinking your beer, too. I did see one lady who brought a sub that she ate while she was drinking her beer, so I suppose that's an option. Super friendly service and good beer. We'll be back. read more

Visited here with my college alumni group. I'm not a big beer drinker, but found one I enjoyed after having a few samples which were generously offered. The have wine too, but not a big selection. The location is in a run-down stop mall, but Boneshire itself is not run down. It's not fancy either, but certainly clean and nice enough! I like the idea of them providing various games for people to play... cool idea!! Had the pleasure of meeting one of the brewmasters who gave us some insight about Boneshire. The BBQ was good and I piled cole slaw on top, then added some extra BBQ sauce... yummy! In summary, a cool place. This is a new brewery in the area and I love it. Its located in a run down strip mall which is kind of random but they did a great job on the inside making it so clean and nice that you'd never know you're sitting in a run down strip mall on Derry street. They have a nice selection of their own beers available as well as other "visiting" local brews too. I like the collaboration there. You can have a sampler, a small, or a large size beer or you can get a growler fill. I tried their version of a wheat beer. Very smooth and easy to drink! Maybe too easy to drink. They don't have a kitchen but they do provide food from a BBQ catering and also had some fudge from Fudge-o-lutley. Again loving the local collaboration! We had dinner plans but I was starving so I tried the Chicken on a stick. It was smoked and juicy and just the right thing to hold me over till we hit dinner. Like I said its a cute environment. You can see the brewing area behind the bar and the tables and chairs are plentiful. There are cute lights hanging up throughout and tvs playing. There's a shelf with some games there so you can hang out with your friends, play a game and enjoy some beers. I saw another table grab a pizza from next door and enjoy it with their beer. The trip here turned out better than I expected but that actually kind of annoyed me. First off the beer was good. Not awe inspiring but good. The food we had was from a BBQ catering place and we were quite happy with that as well. Service was prompt, they were nice, and answered the questions we had. My complaint though is their outdated website which did impact our trip. From the website and other info we found online it said there were only four beers and no mention of food. It was a pleasant surprise to find more options but we ended up staying later than expected and were late to our next stop. Maybe that is not a bad problem to have though. read more

Stoped in yesterday to give this brewery a try. Saw on their website they had a new triple coffee bean stout on tap and man it was good. Super strong coffee taste so if coffee isn't your thing you may want to try one of their other options. I believe they had 16 beers on tap. Nice small place where you can see their entire beer operation. Overall a good place to stop in and get a cold one. read more

This is a super chill, low key brewery in a little strip mall. The bartender was very friendly, knowledgeable, & accommodating. They have in house brews & out of house brews available on tap. They have very cheap munchies available for purchase. There is an in house flight for $7- so cheap! The thing I was most intrigued by is that you can bring your own food. Saturday night and just stopped in atound 8PM for the first time to have some brews. The wife and I stood at the bar for about 5 minutes. The place was not busy. Bartender was making cans of beer and talking sporadically with one guy at the bar. We decided what we wanted and waited patiently for him to take our order. Never once acknowledged us or said hey guys, welcome, I'll be with you in a minute. Finally I just said you want to go somewhere else? She said ok. I said this guy cant even acknowledge us we arent staying. Went down the street to The Pour House and had a beer at a crowded bar within two minutes. A shame because I wanted to sample some product. I was extremely impressed with Boneshire Brew Works. The brewery is clean, well cared for, and offers an accepting atmosphere for all types of people. The brewery is a little difficult to find as it is tucked in a strip mall but don't let the outside fool you! Though they are a small start up brewery they offer a lot of high quality beers! Options include wheat beers, IPAs, and sours. Beer can be purchased in 8, 12, and 16 oz drafts as well as taken home in growlers. While enjoying your beer Boneshire offers board games to play with your friends. Who doesn't enjoy a craft beer while playing Connect Four or Chutes and Ladders? If games aren't your style they also have TVs and cover must of the major games. The brewery does not offer food; however, the allow you to bring your own snacks. There is a BBQ food truck in the parking lot that does an AMAZING job. If BBQ isn't your thing there is also a pizza place next door. Boneshire has menus for both of these places so you can look over your options while having a beer. read more

I really like the beer here, almost never had anything I didn't like and if I didn't, it was because it wasn't my style, not because it was bad! Visited Friday night with a friend and needless to say we will be back. Beer was good and reasonably priced. We got a sampler as well as a pint for around $11. Staff was super friendly and not snobby which made the experience really awesome. The place was pretty busy at 8pm but the crowd died down around 10. The location is a bit deceiving, the brewery is located in a run down strip mall. When you walk in though the place is pretty cool but it is quite small but very comfortable. There are 3 or 4 longer tables and then maybe 6 four seater tables as well as a bar area. From what I could see though everything was clean and it had a fun yet relaxed atmosphere . Be sure to play some of the games provided with your friends! The wall behind the bar that lists everything can be quite busy looking but not impossible to navigate through. Service was fast and attentive and Staff was willing to answer any questions we had. At first though we thought there were only 6 beers as that was what was displayed on the wall behind the bar. It wasn't until after we ordered that we realized there was a rotating list on the tv of other beers (from boneshire and other breweries) that we could have picked from. Not a big issue but just be aware. They also have wine for folks who are not beer drinkers and craft soda. I think the beer was delicious, the Devil Burden beer was my favorite! We did not have food here but I did see people with pizzas from the shop next door so that's cool they allow that. Also there is a sort of small BBQ menu you can order from although I don't recall what food was offered on that menu. Only bummer was the place closed at 11 and we could have stayed longer for sure! Let me say, I hate that this place is getting popular because it's my favorite brewery in the area. All of the bartenders are knowledgeable and friendly. Super relaxed atmosphere that is welcoming to semi well-behaved children with a plethora of board games, craft sodas and munchies (but please, if your kids behave like monsters, get a sitter). I've been here a few times and have always enjoyed it. The beer is good and the staff is friendly. The outside of the place is not great looking, just a strip mall, but the inside has a nice, relaxed feel to it. It can get fairly busy for events and it is pretty small so I have definitely enjoyed it most on quieter weeknights. Good mix of different beer styles, I like the Lazarus stout and they have a bunch of good IPAs as well. I wish there was a 3.5 stars option but there's not, so 3 stars it is. The beer selection is decent for a smaller brewery and the flavor is pretty good too. The Mexican Lazarus is a great stout and the love dragon is amazing if you want something lighter. The seating can be a bit uncomfortable and the space gets loud (common for breweries so no big deal), but tbh the biggest complaint about the place is that some of the bartenders can be a bit dismissive. Some have been very nice and helpful, but on several occasions I've felt like I was a nuisance, only to see them be super friendly and attentive when someone they know walks in. I don't need tons of attention but making eye contact and actually asking if they can help me would be a great start. Nothing like standing around with a to go purchase, card out and ready to pay, but the bartender right in front of you (who isn't busy) won't even acknowledge you. In my experience it's been about 50/50 whether or not the bartender has been interested in serving me. I really want to like this place more, but there are a lot of brewery choices in Harrisburg and most of them are happy to serve you. The beer is good enough to keep me coming back for now, though. read more
