I like the Bonham, I've had a lot of fun times there. The last time I went there though, I accidentally left my credit card at the bar and the group I was with drove back so I could get it. I had taken my wristband off, so I put it back on so I wouldn't have to wait or pay again. The lady let me in, but as soon as I started walking to the bar, some lady pulled me aside and asked to talk to me, she took me outside and took off my wristband and told the lady outside that it came off and I couldn't go back in. It happened so quick I didn't know what was going on. I had to explain to the lady letting people back in, that I just needed to get my card. She was nice and went in and got it for me, but I was kind of pissed off about the whole thing. I also e-mailed them later with a question about the card and never got a reply. Besides all that, the Bonham can be super fun. It's a good idea to get there early so you don't have to pay a cover charge or wait in line. Drinks are cheap and tasty, and you should try a Starfucker if you've never had one. Bartenders are nice and remember you, and the music is always going. You will see male dancers in g-strings and gay couples making out, cause it's a gay club! So don't be freaked out, haha. They have a video room, which I think is the most fun, and they play mostly current hits. There's another room upstairs that usually has hip hop and r&b, and another room with techno music and crazy lights. There's a smaller room across from the video room, I'm not sure if there's different music in there, but they have a bar in there and some couches. read more

THIS PLACE IS SO MUCH FUN. With a line reaching almost around the block, this place was popping. We ubered here after visiting a certain roof top bar. Everybody wanted to go dancing and Bonham was our choice! We did wait about 10 minutes to get in, but you don't really notice it if you're with friends. The venue is amazing. I don't know the history, but it looks like the Bonham Exchange is a historical building. It seemed pretty, but I was too tipsy to really remember the details. With the Bonham you get multi story fun with different DJ's playing different things. Tired of one song? Just walk a floor up, or go a floor down! Or go the room across the hallway! My favorite was when we descended to the basement level into a two-story dance area - the first where we all danced, and the second was more of place of viewing. I had so much fun here this weekend! I was a little on the intoxicated side, so checking in didn't occur to me - but I will definitely be back here! While there was a $5 cover, it was late on a Saturday night, and it was Realllly worth it considering most of my drinks were $1.50 and very strong. There were three floors to hang out on, an outdoor area for smoking as well as a cash bar out there and a little taco counter. The dancer in his skimpy outfit in one of the rooms was also so great & he inspires me to do more cardio. Someone said this was "too much of a gay club" for them, but I didn't see a shortage of Dudes picking up girls & honestly maybe you don't need dance clubs in your life if you're worried about the 'gayness'. This place seems open & accepting of everyone, I would just worry about having fun - which I did! This is by far the best dance club I've been to in San Antonio with plenty of space & bars. Visited Saturday 12/28/13. A 15 year New Yorker, I grew up in San Antonio and remember the Bonham as a laid back, welcoming club with great music for dancing, not for posing and looking good. The welcoming, laid back part is still true but I was very disappointed with the music. All three rooms felt like mostly rap/hip-hop. Why have 3 rooms if you're not going to vary the music. When the DJ would mix in good music, he would play maybe 20 seconds of it, then switch to 20 seconds of another song. Yes, your mixing skills are impressive, and very welcome when switching songs. But how about you play the whole song? I don't think it's just that I'm old (44). When I was in the front room, where the dance floor is smallest but the music is best, when 80s music came on, everyone got on the floor, including girls who had to be in their 20s. Went here this Friday with my roommates, who are a married same sex couple. But this place is really for everyone. I liked the top floor; it was the hip hop music I liked and the best bartender is up there too. We tried 2 other bartenders, one on patio and one near the main floor an they were kinda rude and pretentious. I liked the door people tho. And the architecture of this place is really cool. This is the best club in San Antonio They have different floors here with different themes and different crowds. Military gets in free which is nice but even if you don't get in free it's a very cheap cover of $5. You can get extremely hammered here with little judgement. They have a pool table and some chill spots for when you get tired of dancing. Perfect place to take a date or just have fun in San Antonio. read more

Just about to date myself, the owners of this club once upon a time owned the dance club on St Marys street on the riverwalk called The Country. When they were forced out in the early 80s, the Bonham Exchange was born. Always a fun time in this huge danceteria/lounge/poolhall/showbar/patio place with something for everyone! The sunken dance floor rivals any in the country and I have seen them coast to coast. Stop in for a drink or stay for after hours dancing. read more

I am new to San Antonio, and let my friend pick out our first bar. It is a very large space with various themes in multiple rooms. An area for playing pool, another area predominantly LGBT friendly, a large downstairs dance area, a very large open stage upstairs. As well as an outside bar area for smoking with a taco stand. The employees were nice, and very friendly. Its obviously management that is stupid here. Next time you are there, watch the pour counts. Anyone that has spent any time behind a bar or even watched bar rescue will see they dramatically under pour. All of my drinks were ended in two counts, which meant I got to drink tonic all night. All bartenders did this, so its systematic and taught. This is stealing from the customer, plain and simple. I would not be surprised if they refilled bottles as the top shelf liquor did not taste correct as well. Also, the dance floor has a dirty basement smell, and other areas smelled strongly of puke. I was very disappointed, and will not return unless Im with a group and forced. read more

I had always wanted to go because of all the good things I heard about this place. The only thing was that it was kind of "hidden" - like, from the outside it looks like somebody's house from the early 1900s or something. Anyways, I went here about a month ago with my friends on a Thursday night. At first we went to club Antro and the crowd that attended there didn't fit our style. We ended up here and thank good ness! Like I said, I had never been here, but I was well aware that it was a gay bar. There was no cover that night, so we got lucky. Once inside the venue, it was very laid-back and chill, with friendly people/staff. It is a place for everyone whether you're gay/bi/lesbian or not. I'm not 21 yet, so I only ordered a bottle of water that was about $2.50. Anyhow, we wandered around and discovered a small music video room where the DJ played tunes, and walked further back, found stairs leading to another room (they called it the "Ballroom" I think). They also have another room with a lower level floor that's a pretty decent size. However, since it WAS a Thursday night, the only floor that was open was the first one I mentioned. The highlight of the night was a drag show, to which one of my friends was shocked as to how feminine a lot of them looked and how fierce they were. read more

The first night we got into San Antonio, my sister brought us here and boy did I have a blast! I won't go through the run down of the place, since most of the reviewers have already done so. I loved the open atmosphere and as another reviewer said, instead of guys creeping up on you, they would ask you if you wanted to dance. When we got bored with one room we would walk around to another room and watch people dance and just went upstairs to watching the booty shaking contest, which takes place around midnight. Unique design (for San Antonio) that was reminiscent of a cross between Limelight (NYC 1990s) AND Webster Hall (NYC 1990s)? SOLD! Various rooms with many themes, including a reggae room (which was oddly pretty empty LOL) and a room where the music videos on the screens reflected the songs playing in the speakers. Great mix of every type of crowd (made me proud of Texas, despite not actually being from there), but have to admit the outlandish gay folk there couldnt compare with our gay community here (style-wise). While this place had a mix of underage and overage, I didnt mind as much as I did at Club Rio. Count me a patron every time I visit San Antonio. read more

We decided to road trip down from Dallas to San Antonio after a short day at work. We arrived to San Antonio pretty late and tired from our commute, but decided to enjoy the Riverwalk as best as we could. We grabbed some food and drinks at Agave Bar and decided to explore some of the clubs in the area. We saw great reviews on Bonham and loved that it seems so inclusive! Several reviews stating "anyone welcomed!" It was around 1:30am and decided to wait in line to get inside. Once we got to the security checking our IDs, he looked at my friend and asked in a rude manner "how much have you had to drink?" excuse me? He did not ask anyone else this question but decided to single out my friend. There were several UNDERAGE ladies who should of been asked if they had a couple drinks before getting let in. However, because of the way he looked, he decided to ask him specifically. I proceeded to ask him "why are you asking him that?" and he almost scolded me that he was at liberty to ask any questions about his alcohol intake because his eyes were "droopy". It's 1:30am and we had over a 5 hour commute after a work day. He clearly made assumptions, did not give us any other reason why he decided to single him out and advised us he would not be letting us in. Will NOT be recommending this place to anyone. read more

This place is great for cheap drinks and a good time. There are several rooms and each has their own vibe. The room with the pool table, the room with the pole, the room with the massive dance floor and cubes to dance on and then there is upstairs which looks like a ballroom and outside with the tables and another bar. I gave The Bonham a four star review for two main reasons, mainly that it takes a long time to get a stall in the bathroom and secondly it gets so crowded you can't walk around. Let me tell you I have seen some incredibly raunchy dance moves that had me questioning what classifies as sex. So that was gross because I am pretty sure I saw a couple doing the humpty hump if you catch my drift but I don't want to blame the establishment for that, like I said it's crazy busy. The outside is less than stellar, definitely not like the inside of the club. I've been here twice and I'm not too sure of what to think about the Bonham. The first time I went was on a Saturday and for me it was bad only because of the creepy dudes trying to grind on every chick in sight! The music was fantastic though and the place was packed! The latest time here was this Friday and it wasn't busy at all and we had a blast dancing our a**es off! The drinks were....eh but the music was good. One of the bartenders didn't make a liquid cocaine correctly so idk if he just didn't hear what my friend asked or what, and I ordered a blue Hawaiian and a bottle of water and it all came out to $8.50 (the blue Hawaiian was in a small plastic cup) so the prices really aren't worth it to me! But if you want to have space to get your groove on and dance the night away then Friday night is the night to go because it wasn't too packed and there wasn't a pack of creepy dudes trying to dance on us!(: read more

First club I've been to and I want more! I loved it here. I've never been the dancing type but the music was good I was dancing all night ..and I was sober since I'm under 21. I paid 20 bucks to get in which sucked but hey it is what it is. The people were cool, mostly straight people though. I danced with a couple of randoms all good and fun. Came here with a few friends for drinks and dancing. Bar tenders were awesome! Always available quickly. Drinks were very reasonably priced and good well selection. Had a cucumber vodka with Chamoy on the rim, which was awesome! There was a taco stand in the back that was serving street tacos and Mexican hot dogs... I was asked to model in a Hair Show #HAIRPALOOZA from a good friend who is a staple in the Hair Community in San Antonio. I have a passion for modeling and entertaining so I was game from the invite. The Bonham Exchange is a gay club but on Sunday Jan. 14, 2018 the club was transformed to a dope venue to house all of the Hair Stylist and Barbers. Upon arrival I noticed so many different characters, dressed to the 9's for the Hair Show. The HAIRPALOOZA show hosted many categories such as The Cut Party I modeled in, The Avant Garde selection, the Barber Battle plus the Drag Show. The night was filled with everything sequins and spectacular. Each category had a theme down to the body paint hand painted on models. The pictures do not do this event any justice, you had to be there to experience!!!! read more

If you love edm and partying till 4am then this place is perfect. Didn't mind it the first time I went I had fun and danced... but we kept getting harassed by a group of guys who were obviously on something. It got to the point where we had to threaten them and left. Drinks were cheap and good not watered down at all. So I'm okay with that. Music had me dancing in every single room which a girl can't resist a good dance.. the very top room was a little weird but okay. The only reason why I give it a 3 star review and not a 5 star is because while leaving something freaky happened. A man tried opening our car door while we were at the stop sign next to the building. He was one of the men who were on something inside the club. So this post is more of a warning to watch your drink and make sure you're safe as possible when leaving or being alone. read more

At first glance this place seems awesome - great building and several dance floors with different styles of music. .I've had two experience with this club and both were negative. The bouncers were friendly but the rest of the staff was extremely rude. The club has two types of music crappy trance techno in the room with the guys in the banana hammocks and crappy dance/overly synthesize hip hop in all the others. As far as dancing goes, good luck. Drinks prices are okay but poorly prepared, poured, and presented. A lot of the rooms are way too smokey. The first time was this summer for my friend, Rhi's 21st birthday. We arrived around 11p.m., so she had to pay the $20 dollar cover charge - Fair enough we were in a large group and there were several under 21's . A midnight Rhi tried to show the door lady her ID and explained that she just turned 21. The lady very rudely refused to give my newly 21 year old friend a wristband and yelled to her if she drank she would be thrown out. My next experience was a couple weeks ago. The bar tenders were terrible. I sat waiting to buy a drink for 10 min while others who arrived after me were being served. Late on one of bartenders even picked up the tip jar put it two inches from my girlfriends face (that after she had to wait forever and was given a cup of ice with a splash of coke and no discernible amount of alcohol). So after a night of crappy music I go home to check my bank account to find i've had a 50 dollar charge on my account on top of what my drinks cost. I was pist. I'm a grad school student so 50 bucks is still a lot of money . I contacted them and they told me that my complaint was common and it was just the way their banking system works. They went on to rudely and presumptuously explain to me how I should not go to a club without more money in my account. The charge took almost a week to remove itself. It may be just me but I find 50 dollar charge to make sure you pay excessive esp when you pay with a common card such as wells fargo or visa. read more

Lee would always make sure I got safely from the parking lot when I arrived, leave my keys at egg the office, and safely to my car when I left also making sure I was good to drive and get home in 1 piece. I'm in town for a company meeting and decided to go have a bit of fun. Apparently, it won't be here. There is only one bartender on duty and he decided to ignore my friend and I. We stood waiting and it was obvious we were ready to order but for some reason the bartender decided to serve his regulars who approached the bar after us instead and continued to ignore us even after. Very unprofessional way of treating new visiting customers. The only reason my rating is 2 stars and not 1 is because the host and the DJ were wonderful! I've been going to this establishment for years. I extremely love it here! This is a GAY CLUB, so don''t get it twisted. A lot of breeders go. Especially on on Saturdays when KTFM, now ENERGY 94.1 scribbles. Not going to lie. The music is great but since I practically go every other Saturday or hear it play live on the radio. The same song plays basically right after from the week prior. The DJ needs to make it more unexpected. The drink specials are great! $2 u call it before 11pm! Order me a goose and pineapple please!!! Even after, it's still reasonable considering other place charge a little more for just a sippy cup. The main floor where the DJ plays and the floor is pretty spacious. Excluding the people who stand there and don't dance whatsoever. Altogether 3 floors, 4 rooms. All have DJ's but the pool table room. The Bonham is 18 and up. $20 for minors and $5 for adults. Free before 10pm for 21 and up. The light display can be better. I recall them claiming the best light show experience in San Antonio. WRONG! It can be way better. Hint: take some lighting lessons from Drais in Las Vegas, that's the best light show! Bartenders are great except 1! I don't know his name (don't care either) has his hair pulled back in almost bun like, muscular, douchebag talking, doesn't like when you order something that doesn't involved money or tipping, so don't ask for water from him. He will send you elsewhere or look over your drunk friends over tipping cause they are so intoxicated, he will make a snide remark and STILL serve them! Anyways, Fridays the new station 103.3 the app plays on the main dance floor as well. Music kinda reminds me of the old Bonham when it was the place to go on Fridays back then. Best place for dancing and drinks specials ! It's 18 and up . Every time I go I never remember anything and get really wasted .! People who work at the Bonham are amazing very friendly. The restroom are very clean . The secret restroom are by the coat room. Parking can be a tad be sketchy , but it's down town ! I can't wait to go again read more

As the stars say "Yay! I'm a fan." Like Gracie mentioned, there are several different rooms, with their own flair, and the staff is outstanding. We got there before 10, so there was no cover, and the crowds really didn't start showing up until around midnight. Drinks were cheap, and lots of fun was to be had. They do have an ATM on site, but I didn't find a ciggie machine anywhere...bummer.. I'm not normally a smoker but when I'm drinking and shaking it with the girls, it's nice to puff away.
