My base model Diverge sustained a crack around the entirety of the seat tube, just above the top tube. Specialized did not have a replacement aluminum frame and very kindly replaced with a carbon frame. As promised on Specialized website, I presented evidence of purchase and bike to Marshall on behalf of Bonney Lake Bicycle Shop, Sumner, WA who expertly managed the process through to returning what is ostensibly a new and carbon Diverge. I've never bought a bike at Bonney Lake Bike, but I've taken three different bikes into their repair area and all three times they have been helpful, patient, and friendly. If you dealt with any number of bike shops, you probably know that sometimes the guys who work in them can, for some unknown reason, be a bit condescending or really condescending. Took my road bike in to have new tires installed and get it tuned up before my Ironman race. The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable. They got my bike ready in a timely manner and I was super pleased with the result. My bike shifted smoothly throughout the entire race and I even saw some speed improvement (that could've been the new tires but I'm giving these guys the credit). They need to send their employees to How To Be A Good Salesman 101. When someone is interested in a bike that is locked up and the seat is far too low. Offer to unlock it, raise the seat up for them, let 'em pedal it around the parking lot. Really try to sell the thing and be nice about it. Don't watch as they try to get on with your chain getting tangled around their legs, not offer to raise the seat and to take it for a test drive. You flat out just lost that sale. My teenage son got in an accident with a curb and truly thought he messed up his bike, as the rear wheel wouldn't spin anymore. we were pleasantly welcomed by Paul who took his time to look at it, loosened and tightened some things and it turns out it wasn't messed up at all. About a month ago I took my bike to the bike shop in Sumner to have it tuned. I also mentioned the seat hurt me and I wanted to look at getting a new one. When I went to pick it up I spoke to the same man. I said, "I'd like to look at some other seats. This seat hurts me." He said, "Well, try riding it for a while and you'll get used to it." I really dislike being dismissed and blown off. I just returned from a ten-mile ride and am extremely sore. Please consider not patronizing the bike shop in Sumner. Find a shop whose employees actually listen to their customers and don't blow them off. read more

I felt like John ( the bike shop manager ) discriminated me and treated me like a criminal because of the color of my skin. He even called the police on me. I went here to see what e bikes they had but when i walked in, the experience was different. first none of them acknowledged me for almost 5 minutes. then none of them were wearing masks. when i finally was helped, i requested a test ride for one of their mountain e bikes. he asked for my id which was perfectly ok but when he requested a credit card be held, i thought this was very weird. he stated it was for verification purposes but i could see that that was not the reason. when i asked for his name, he told me it was john. he asked for my name in return but since i am a consumer and dont work for the company i didnt provide it. that was when he told me that he lied about his name being john. i video recorded from this point on and asked him why he lied and asked who the manager was. he said that he was the manager and only changed his name because i didnt give him my name. i asked him before i was crowded out the door by him why nobody was wearing their masks but he got more agressive and reached for my camera. he was very rude and unprofessional the whole time but towards the end was cursing and calling the cops on me for nothing. i wasnt yelling, cursing in the store or making a huge scene. this place has the worst customer service and i will never go here again ever. i will take my 5 thousand dollars somewhere else that deserves it. read more

I was/am biking 100-150 miles a week and needed to upgrade from a 1980s era Shogun. I came in here during COVID SPRING 2020 thinking I knew something about modern day road bikes and learned SO much. Ended up with a Specialized Roubaix which has been wonderful with preventing upper body fatigue on those long weekend rides where time is not an issue. The front shock is a game changer. Went back and bought a helmet today since mine was from 2009 (eek) when MIPS wasn't a thing and the visor broke and was taped on long long ago. Thanks to the suggestions of the great staff at this shop, I've stepped up my game as a cyclist in a very big way. read more

I want a bike. I need a bike. And I'm ready to buy, so I stopped in a month or so ago when inventory was transitioning from 2019 to 2020 and met a very nice man who told me to come back when they're shipments came in, so I did. My second visit was incredibly disappointing. A different man walked up to me and asked if he could help me. I told him I wanted to buy a bike and he said " A comfort bike?" I explained that I didn't want a comfort bike (I already own one) and that I was looking more at hybrids or commuters. Then he said "You want a step through frame." As a statement. I said "not necessarily, depending on the frame geometry. I just want it to be a suitable riding position for my lower back." I told him I wished I could ride road bikes again but due to spinal fusion surgery that was out of the question. He again stated"you need a comfort bike." At this point, I was irritated. He clearly didn't listen, so I told him off. Just because I'm a sixty year old woman does not mean I want a comfort bike. Furthermore I'd already stated I didn't want a comfort bike. Twice. I don't require a man to tell me what I NEED. I informed him I'd spent nearly 25 years of my career in the bike industry and while I'm not up on the latest trends and manufacturers because I've been away from biking for the last ten years, I didn't need him to tell me I needed a comfort bike. It wasn't pretty but this redhead (okay - so it's white now!) was ticked! I drove to Tacoma and worked with a nice young man who helped me select a bike suited to me. So here's the caveat: if you're over 50 and female and want a comfort bike and a condescending, paternalistic attitude, shop here. Otherwise, find another shop where the sales people will listen. read more

As busy as they appeared to be, I was somewhat surprised at the turn-around time. As for the price & service, I thought it to be extremely reasonable. I'm writing this review on behalf of my wife, who is too nice a person to say how she really feels. She walked in to this shop to ask a few questions and was treated very rudely by the staff. People behind her in line were asked to be helped before her; fortunately the person said, "She was here first". Then the employees couldn't decide who was going to wait on her. And then the person who did gave her one-word answers to her questions, even cutting her off in mid-sentence. It's obvious from reading other Yelp reviews that at least some of the store employees treat women and people of color without respect. Do not patronize this store! read more

I arrived at the East Puyallup Trailhead of the Foothills Trail and discovered that my bike needed to be repaired before I could get rolling. This shop is only 1.4 miles from the trailhead. Very fast and confident service from an expert bike mechanic. Businesslike and efficient. They use high-end tools and the shop looks well-organized. Great value for the money. The mechanic even reminded me to put the chain on the smallest rear cog before removing the rear wheel. I've been using puncture-resistant tires and it's been a minute since I had to know that. Very bad experience today 2/23/19. Went to return gear I bought for my wife last night. I was told I could return items if they didn't work out. I could tell the guy didn't know much about the gear he was selling me. My wife couldn't use the gear for her class today because she didn't have clips. I showed a picture to the associate last night of what I'm looking for but he had no clue. The guy today gave me a hard time and we got vocal over it. The other associate had to step in. Bad customer service. They didn't have enough money to give me cash for return. They refunded me money to my card. He wouldn't give me the receipt for my return. I only have the original. I will be calling the owner Monday about this terrible experience! read more

Picked up a used bicycle and honestly everything went smoothly. The price was right and the young man that helped me was... sufficient. What's my issue then? Why the 3 stars? No military discount. I am a newbie to bicycling so I read quite a few books on cycling and the style I am interested in. I know nothing about bikes so have stopped in to inquire on questions I have and to purchase additional parts for a bike I bought. I asked about being fitted for a bike and the staff stated that "as long as it's comfortable, it will work", WHAT!? I have also stopped in to find three different parts for my bike, simple stems, handlebars, etc. It was obvious that they were more interested in helping other people who wanted to buy a new bike than assist in finding the right parts. When they finally helped me, Nope, don't have that. Don't have that or that either. No offer to order the parts or suggest an alternative. read more

Took my grandson new bike to get training wheels put on and it took sometime and some imagination but they where able to get it done. The bike was not meant to have training wheels on it so that's what made them getting it done extra special. I've been coming to this bicycle shop for accessories and bicycles for awhile now. They are good people. I am pretty hard on my bike and they fix it up pretty well each time. My old bike was a Sport's Authority p.o.s. and they managed to repair some extensive damage pretty well. The accessories I've purchased here (everything from helmets, lighting, gloves, and more) are always high quality and the guys in the shop don't hassle me while I'm shopping unless I ask a question (Thanks!) I bought my son a Haro bike back on 7/7/19. he didn't even get to ride it for two weeks before the bikes brake started shifting and coming loose, we called the bike shop right away and they had us bring it down so they could look at it. they tighten the brake pads and off we went. it wasn't even a week later and the brakes shifted again. I again called the shop and brought it down. we left the bike there and again they tighten the brakes and pointed out a Balding in one area of the tire and we were told he needed a new tire. ( it was odd cuz it was only bald in one spot and again he hadn't even rode the bike for one month straight???) took the bike home ordered new tires and again the bike sat.... we got the new tires a week later and got new tubes for the tires. our son rode the bike for two day and again the brakes shook loose and shredded the new back tire I called the shop again and talk to a gentleman that said "it sounds like you have a bad brakes and to bring it in on Monday 8/26/19. I wasn't able to get it down there unti Tuesday but I dropped it off and was told I would get a call on Friday when the manager gets back from days off. Friday came around and I didn't get a call so I called them. a man answered the phone and I asked him about the bike and he was extremely rude from the beginning, "your talking about the blue bike with blue tires hanging on the handlebars ?!? THAT BIKE HAS BEEN ABUSED !?! WHO EVER WAS RIDING IT WAS ABUSING THE BIKE" I tried to talk but he kept cutting me off and said we don't cover tires and you have no brake pads and when you get here I will show you the Damage to the rim! you rode the bike on a flat tire! he just kept going and I was in shock! got off the phone and call my husband and we went down there. the man that I talked to on the phone had left I guess?!? I was told by the other two guys that they would look into it and call the owners to see how to fix this problem. I would get a call on Tuesday morning 9/3/19 well it Thursday 9/5/19 and I have heard nothing from the bike shop?? they still have my son's bike and I have phones documented to the bike shop, receipt from new tires , text messages from son about tires popping, brakes braking and my husband having to pick him up due to not being able to ride it on a flat tire. I understand sometimes you get bad Manufacturing brakes that are no good but when a customer has done everything right to Protect its investment of a dirt bike that supposed to be ridden on trails and jumps. so I would love for the owners to get a hold of me! this was a $350 bike that has lasted less than a month and I have Walmart bikes that last 4+yrs read more

We stopped in while looking for something very specific which they did not have. However, Marshall and Steve made a tremendous impression on me. They were friendly, knowledgeable, attentive and made the effort to really listen and learn about what we were looking for. I purchased a new road bike from the Bonney Lake Bicycle Shop of Sumner about a year ago and have been very happy with this local bicycle shop ever since. I have had numerous free tuneups since purchasing my bike, as I use it to commute and put a lot of miles on it. After having a tuneup it shifts flawlessly for many miles and quite some time. I recently had a problem with the bike which involved not only the Bonney Lake Bicycle Shop of Sumner but the manufacturer of the bike as well. Bonney Lake Bicycle Shop of Sumner worked with the manufacturer of the bike to get the issue resolved and the bike has been great ever since. I would recommend this local bicycle shop to anyone interested in buying a new bike or bicycle components. read more

08/02/2018 Had a bike in for brake lever repairs and a tune up at Puyallup location. Brake levers / cylinder was shot on one lever so had them both replaced. Didn't want to hassle with the hydraulics/bleeding etc so I was ok with price. They said about a week which turned out to be accurate. Brakes work fine so no issue there. My only concern was that the chain, shifters, gears, etc were as dirty and crud caked as when I brought the bike in. I did not notice this until I got the bike home. My first thought was I'd screwed them up by stopping by unexpectedly and they had not gotten to tune yet. (I was in neighborhood and wanted to save a trip if bike was done). Anyway the bike seemed completed and was hangin on the wall with the old parts bagged. So after returned home and discovering the issue I called thinking they had made a simple mistake and forgotten to do the tune. Anyway during the call I was assured the tune had been done by the person who'd done the work. I asked about the cleaning of drive train/oiling of chain and was told only if it needed it or something to this effect. This was contrary to what I was told when I first called in and asked about a tune plus if this drive train "didn't need it" I'd hate to see what does... To be fair they did offer to have me bring bike back to look at it but frankly based on the phone conversation I am 1: a bit distrustful of this place now. I mean if they missed the drive train cleaning how will I ever know if they really did a tune? 2: Not really crazy about wasting anymore time with this place. Anyway I will post pictures of the bike drive train I took after I got the bike home - if this app allow it / I can figure out how. I'll wipe off an area after I take a photo to show the difference. You be the judge. I mean you would think this is the most obvious part of the process. I guess I'll keep looking for a reliable bike shop and chalk up the tune up(?) money as the cost of learning. Update 08.03/2018. Grrrrrr. Just went out for a ride and the grips, they took off to install brake levers, are spinning on the handle bar. They must have used some lubricant to make the grips go on easier. Now I have to pull grips off, clean, and put back on (which is difficult but necessary to keep them from turning). Good grief. I may have to call the owner after all. What a joke. Just downgraded my stars. Stay away from this joint. read more

Sales- shop around at other specialized dealers in the area for better selection and prices. The prices here are considerably higher than other dealers just a few miles away. They may offer you a "deal" but it's based off their inflated prices. Service - did purchase two bikes here before shopping around and have taken both in for service multiple times for the same issues. From gear adjustments to break service, to squealing breaks, they have failed to correct the issues after multiple attempts. I now take my bikes elsewhere for service and would not purchase from here again. read more
