The coronavirus scare is here and NYC is under lockdown. What is a foodie to do? Well, yesterday, we took a walk to get some takeout, specifically we were in the mood for a good burger. I'd been to Bonnie's years ago and really liked it, and my GF orders lunch often, but we'd never eaten here together. The counter looked great and so we decided to stay and enjoy dinner. It was great! First of all, Bonnie's is doing everything to be cognizant and safe during these scary times. Everything was clean and social distancing was being practiced properly. I felt completely safe here. Now the food. I had the Western Burger, which was great! Well seasoned beef, great fries, great topings and cooked exactly like I wanted it. The chef waz pumping out food fast, which we could see, and everything smelled amazing! Also, service was great despite the fact the whole place was run by two guys. Unfortunately, they are now closed for dine-in, but they will be doing delivery during this entire issue. My GF and I will be ordering regularly and can't wait to go back. Bonnie's Grill to-go order during Quarantine was the burger fix I needed for the past 3 months. I tried multiple places and almost gave up until Bonnie fixed me up right. The burger is tasty, big, affordable, and it comes with fries that are crispy, plentiful, and addicting. I had to force myself to take a break so I wouldn't finish everything in under 5 min. I got the western burger with bbq sauce and onion rings and the toppings were so big I ate them on the side so my burger wouldn't fall apart. My friend got the philly and besides it falling apart before it even came out the box it tasted great too. The fries look like fresh cut and is not that soggy cold oil nonsense we've been getting from other nearby burger joints. Grabbed dinner at Bonnie's Grill on Wednesday evening. They serve up high quality versions of items most diners do simple and mediocre. Quality: If you are looking for some high quality fatty foods, Bonnie's Grill is where to go. My drunk friends slammed this place just before closing on Saturday. They were all a mess, spilling water and being loud and incoherent, ordering multiple things at different times. The staff was AMAZINGLY ACCOMMODATING AND HELPFUL. The food was hot and fresh and delicious even though I'm sure the kitchen was winding down for the night. The staff cleaned up our spills and dealt with our nonsense in a very professional and sweet manner. Then to top it all off, the owner (I assume) gave my drunkest friend and free bottle of water to help sober her up and also a free dessert to take home bc he overheard us talking about how it was her birthday. Like, we did not deserve this type of treatment. The Bonnie's staff went above and beyond for a bunch of drunk idiots. So I can imagine how they will treat affable sober customers. I stopped here a couple years ago for my husband's BBWC (Birthday Brooklyn Wing Crawl) and we were excited to return for a snack during our visit last weekend. We met up with a friend in late afternoon and there were tables available. This is a tiny spot so probably best to go during off hours in order to ensure a seat. I was surprised to see a really solid list of craft beers in addition to the usual domestics. We ordered 15 wings, well-done and with medium sauce, with a side of hot sauce, plus ranch on the side. Also, a small side of cheese fries. For some reason, the fries and side of ranch never made it to our table. Hands down the best burgers I've had - beating Corner Burger and Press 195. Greatest value in the hood as well since the burgers come with a choice in sides: the spicy cole slaw and fries are perfect. The only dessert on their menu is a chocolate caramel brownie which is actually nice, but it could be served warm with ice cream as opposed to whip cream. However it's nice that "diners" such as Bonnie's know that it doesn't take that much to kick "regular" food up a notch with nice plating, ginormous servings, and tons of different condiments on your table like a Thai monkey sauce and a wacky clear hot sauce that was pretty good in my Diet Pepsi. If you have a thick skin and you know you're gonna take a shower when you get home, feel free to sit at the bar cuz the grill can get a bit greasy. Heart clogging diner deliciousness. It's not healthy but if you want that, then you probably shouldn't eat out. Their front door is a bit stuck and stubborn so you may have to give it a good tug to jar it loose to open. Inside you'll find a typical American diner setup. Retro like tables and chairs with a stool/bar option. Their nachos was decent. The beans and tomatoes were just tossed on too so the only things that clung to the chips were the cheese and sour cream. The chili/beans looked more like a garnish that just rolls off the chip. What made the visit worthwhile was the western burger. Large black angus with onion rings stacked on cheese and lathered in their award winning bbq sauce. You'll need to open wide for this burger because it is piled high with the bun, meat, cheese and onion rings. There was a bit too much sauce in the burger for my liking, so I just scooped some out before devouring the entire thing. I stopped by here for a bite to eat and let me tell you I have a whole new respect for line cooks. Bonnie's Grill is essentially a diner. A great diner. There are a few tables in the back and a bunch of bar stools by the counter. Wanting to see the action, my boyfriend and I sat at the counter. It was a little hot, I must admit. We watched in awe as the cook flew through every order without even blinking. I was super impressed. I will now think twice before whining about how long my food is taking (it depends on the situation, of course). The food itself was solid. We had the Buffalo Chicken Wings which tasted very fresh. Bonnies grill is one of those places that I've been walking past for about ten years now literally, so I figured they must have great food if they are still opened, so I gave it a try. I had the cheese fries, the meat chilli cheese fries, the buffalo wings and the honey bbq wings. Buffalo wings and the honey bbq wings were amazing!!! I enjoyed the honey bbq wings the best. The sauce was perfect and not too sweet and the wings were full of meat and had a nice crisp to them. They kind of make me feel like they are better than dinosaur bbq wings. The chilli meat cheese fries, I kind of couldn't believe my eyes at how huge the order was and how much chilli and cheese was toppled on to it. They were delicious and finger licking good!! Disclaimer don't have them on a first date as you may need the bathroom from all the chilli! The cheese fries is why I gave this only four stars. The cheese was shredded cheese heated onto the fries.
