We popped in to Farmstead on the way from SLC to Vegas. What a treat! They had everything a bakery should have. Pastries, sandwiches, croissants and more. Everything looked so good. I wanted to get everything. I wish we had this in SLC. The croissants were perfect. The service there is great. They are very attentive and happy to help. I had so many question on all the different options. There isn't much seating inside but there is lots of seating outside. The place looks clean and new. I love that they have sweet and savor items. We got a bunch of stuff for the road. If you are ever in or near St George, this is a place you have to try. I know we are stopping there every time from now on. read more

Farmstead is a must visit if in St. George. We went twice. First time I wasn't prepared and just got a few things. The guava danish was our favorite. The regular Kouign Amann was just okay the day we got it. Also, don't know what happened, but they kept skipping us when we were in front of the counter to order. I guess they all thought we had been helped, but it was weird...we stood there while they passed us and helped people further down the line. Finally we asked if someone could help us. They made up for it the next day and service was much better. Second day I was more prepared and everything we got was great. This time we got the chocolate Kouign Amann and it was really good. I think the Kouign Amann the previous day maybe wasn't as fresh or cooked the same, idk. Amazingly delicious pastries. Don't be deterred by a long line, as the friendly and competent staff cuts through it quickly. Their vegetable quiche was light and fluffy. The chocolate almond croissant was heavenly. The banana bread is moist and delicious. Ample street parking, with minimal indoor seating, but slightly more outdoor seating. Quality...is what you get for the price of pretty much everything Farmstead has to offer...well worth it. I love a good kouign amann! I literally will do a yelp search for it wherever I go. My fave is still B. Patisserie in San Francisco, they also have it in Honolulu at Kona Coffee Purveyors but Farmsteads is right up there in my opinion. While driving out of Arizona on our way to Utah, we saw a billboard that said "Farmstead - The Best Bakery in Utah". I read it aloud to my husband and then said "I'll be the judge of that!" We arrived at mid-morning on a Sunday and could not believe how many people were there. The location was convenient and it was easy to find parking but the place was packed. The bakery it self is stylish and clean and they have lots on offer. We settled on a Kouign-amann and a Blackberry Pistachio Tart. The service was fast and prices reasonable and we decided to head to a park to eat as the location was a bit too crowded for our comfort. The Kouign-amann was delicious and much larger that we have seen elsewhere. A perfect combination of buttery, flaky, crispiness. The Blackberry Pistachio Tart was dreamy and decadent and every bite was like a little taste of heaven. The billboard was absolutely right. read more

Awesome spot with really great tasting pastries. The guy behind the pastry case was super helpful and I went with the Tabernacle which was a croissant filled with a vanilla bean sweet cream. It was divine- perfect flaky texture and perfect temp etc. I also ordered a vanilla latte. As you can tell from my bazillion coffee shop reviews, I always order a vanilla latte. Barista calls out my "latte" and I said is it the vanilla latte? She said no you got a latte and I said I ordered a vanilla latte. She said that's not what it says here pointing to her printed order ticket. Then tries to just pump some vanilla into a latte after the fact. She did finally make me a new one the correct way you make a latte and it tasted good. Just bizarre to argue with a customer about what they ordered when it isn't a big deal to make them what they wanted. It was bustling but with lots of seating including a large patio. read more

Let's start with service: when we arrived this location had a line out the door, not a problem for their super amazing team focused staff who had the line efficiently and consistently moving while serving every customer with a friendly smile. ART was one of the employees who helped us and his exceptional service stood out by being able to not only answer my questions but be serving others at the same time. He was so sweet to me as I was very excited to order the George breakfast sandwich (must try) and with only one left he made sure to box it up immediately so I would get to have one. The food: the fruit tart was the superior choice of our dessert purchases. It was the perfect rations of crust, custard and fruit. The cinnamon roll was more delicious after scraping the generous amount of frosting off and to the side. And the bread on their sandwiches was perfect, with a thick crust and soft interior. The mozzarella was so fresh, everything was. Now: the coffee. CAN WE A ROUND OF APPLAUSE FOR JENI!? This was the first time IN MONTHS, where I have watched someone make a latte in the correct order of ingredients and in the time appropriate pouring for all ingredients, specifically espresso. WOW. They were out of my of my pastries and they just subbed it for the regular version. But then the person helping me felt bad and wanted me to be able to try their chocolate, so she gave me a chocolate cronut on the house. She was so nice and I really appreciated her trying to make up for that. 3. It was busy in a fun way. Like, not overwhelming but like I was in a movie. People chatting at tables, outside tables had families, young people, old people, it clearly was a place that can draw a crowd. We stopped here at the beginning of our girls weekend, it was good enough that we went back before leaving to head home so we could share with our families. Everything was good, but our favorites were the ham and cheese croissant, guava and cheese, and kouign amann. The bakery was very efficient and well stocked. The coffee shop was much less efficient and you may need to be prepared to wait. It was busy on Sunday morning and we were told that Sunday at lunch time the line is out the door and down the street. It is worth the wait! There is a nice covered seating area outside that was very quaint and enjoyable. The staff were all nice and friendly, even though they were quite busy. Fortunately, the lines move pretty quickly I'm sure because everyone is anxious to get their pastries! They have a variety of sandwiches, salads, pastries, breads, coffee, tea and more. There are a few tables inside but the covered patio outside provided more space to spread out for our big group. We ordered the caprese sandwich, a ham and cheese one, a chocolate croissant, a triple baked almond croissant, a guava and a raspberry pastry. My favorite sweet was the guava one which had a nice target to counter the sweetness with a lovely cream cheese topping. The kouign-amann is justifiably their best seller; it's buttery and delicious with crunchy sugar throughout and especially on the bottom. A raspberry-filled donut was another favorite of mine. No visit to St. George is complete without Farmstead. If you have not gone yet, you are missing out. I did read a few new negative reviews since I visited and could not believe my eyes. If anyone critiques the quality of these baked goods, they're clearly mistaken. Farmstead far exceeds what I would expect for St. George, let alone any major city across the US. I have yet to meet a pastry I didn't like at Farmstead. This time around I had the pleasure to try their Asian Green Salad, which was lovely. I couldn't help but get a Ham and Cheese Baguette, along with a Chicken Salad Sandwich on a croissant! I absolutely love that I can pick up lunch when I grab some sweets as well. For sweets this time around, I tried their Guava Cheese Danish (lovely), Cheese Danish (a favorite of ours), Purple Loaf, and Apple Pie. I'm actually not much of an apple pie fan, but I have to admit this one even blew me away. The crust was perfect and it was loaded with apples. Read, loaded with apples (not that gooey apple flavored glue most places fill it with). Would hands down buy any of their pies next time I'm in town. Of course I couldn't leave town without a few baguettes and a couple loaves of their sourdough (which I'm still enjoying as I write this). The only downside on my way out of town, was that by 11am on Friday, they didn't have a single ham and cheese croissant left (another favorite of mine).
