I've been coming here for years with my family. Food is always wonderful. But today me and my black friend went in there and the service we got was POOR. She was clearly very bothered by our presence, especially my black friend. She hardly checked on us and barely made eye contact with my friend. We saw her smiling and engaging with her other tables. Not us. We don't look for things like that when we go eat. It was very noticeable and we both picked up on it very quick. As a white man I took it upon myself to speak with another worker there to inform them about the incident. I pray to god they do something about that. Because they just lost loyal customers. I will never go back. Very unfortunate. I don't think what happened was a reflection on the business as a whole, but her attitude was very nasty and uncalled for. A hidden local gem. Great seafood and other comfort food options. Even picky eaters should find something on the menu here. They are pros at serving crowds and can get large amounts of folks in and without feeling rushed or neglected. The servers and other staff are all very friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. I have been to Boondocks few times but yesterday was my last. The waitress was inattentive and food was not good. I ordered grouper and fried oysters combo that was 45 bucks at market price. 5 oysters and 2 small pieces of " grouper " . The meat was dark and not appetizing. My wife got scallops and were dry. So, I love this place. We've come here every time we've vacationed in this area. I love the location and the vibe of this place and the food has always been good. Wasn't that great on our last visit. Best item I had was cheese grits. I had the bacon wrapped shrimp and it was just okay. The bbq sauce wasn't really my cup of tea. The green beans were bad. Maybe I just didn't care for the seasoning on them? Hubs had a fried shrimp basket and thought it was good but not the best he's had. Also had gator bites which he enjoyed. "The bar is for diners" ... My boyfriend and I were driving by and thought it looked like a cute waterside spot and might stop for a drink to check it out. When we asked if there were any seats at the bar, we were told that it was for people dining only to see 4-5 seats free as we left. We were offered the option to buy a drink from the hostess lady out in the hallway. Wouldn't exactly have been the atmosphere we were looking for. This was a first and honestly so odd! We arrived on a rainy Saturday morning for lunch. They seated us overlooking the bay. The view is spectacular even in the rain! We started out with an appetizer, fried mushrooms and they did not disappoint. Our entrées were fried shrimp and grilled bacon wrapped shrimp. The breading on the shrimp is light, not heavy, so you taste the shrimp. The glaze on the bacon wrapped shrimp is delicious! The shrimp are always grilled to perfection. We waited 35 minutes for seating which seems to be like a shorter time than many reviews I've read. The waitress was very short with her attitude. I first ordered a water to drink which was just disgusting so changed it out for an unsweet tea which tasted more like good water. We had fried pickles and fried mushrooms as appetizers and the mushrooms were great. The pickles were ok but I've definitely had better. We waited approximately 20 minutes for our food to be brought out after ordering it. I ordered the shrimp poboy and oh man was I disappointed. There were 6 shrimp...6! And to make it even worse they were rubbery. It came with french fries which were underseasoned and dry in texture. Honestly, the best part of my meal was the 2 small hushpuppies. My husband ordered the catfish filet DINNER, he was rather disappointed when it came out with only 3 small filets. He did say the seasoning on the fry batter was good but there was no crisp to it whatsoever. We were told when sat down that fresh grouper had just arrived fresh 30 minutes before we got there. My husband ate one of his step-mother's grouper filets and said for "fresh" it was a real disappointment. To top off the less than stellar experience we weren't even offered drinks to go. The decor is modern fish camp with guests being seated at beautiful antique tables throughout the restaurant. Local friends suggested this place and they met us here. If you aren't looking for it, you won't stumble upon it. It's off the beaten path and literally in the boon docks! The menu was inclusive of fresh seafood of all kinds, with shrimp, scallops, oysters, clam strips, grouper and more available. Sides included a choice of baked potato, Cole slaw, fries, salad, green beans and more. Serving sizes were generous and pricing was average for the area. We are locals and really wanted to like this place and support our local owners. However.... our service was terrible. We were seated overlooking the parking lot when the dining area with a view was only half occupied. It felt as if they wanted us "out of the way". Our waitress was extremely rude and inattentive. It took over 15 minutes to get a glass of wine and our dinners were not placed with the correct diner. We were a group of 7 with 3 tabs. All of the tickets were mixed up and no support was offered to remedy it. So, luckily we are all friends and just paid for each others' meals. We will not be going back. read more

We've been to PCB multiple times,but this was our 1st visit to Boon Docks. The service was good and the food was great. We had the tuna dip as an appetizer. I thought it was a hot dip, but it was a cold dip. Still very good, and everyone liked it. 3 of us ordered varying seafood platters, and all were great. There was definitely enough that 1 could have been shared among at least two of us. I was told the pasta dish was amazing, and my daughter ordered a second dish of the crab claws. I personally thought they were a bit dry(flavorful,but dry), but she loved them. The drinks were fantastic. This is definitely on our "places to return to" list. The setting was also very neat, and we loved the Jimmy Buffett music in the background. read more

I went to Boon Docks with a group of five. It was a busy Saturday night. We were told it would be an hour wait. To kill time, we got drinks at the bar, which was "cash only." We were seated finally, but it took 15 minutes to be waited on. After ordering our food, we waited 29 minutes, still no food. My husband flagged the manager, who then gave us a basket of hushpuppies to hush us up. The food showed up right after. Food was fair, but not outstanding. The whole affair took 3 hours. To top it all off, our credit card ( which we rarely use) had a suspicious charge the very next day. Buyer beware! There are many fine places to eat around here. read more

A great meal to wrap up a great day! Despite a busy Memorial Day weekend, our party of 5 only waited for 25 minutes (even after we were told it would be a 45-50 minute week). The location is beautiful; the wait staff is friendly, and the food is good. I ordered the grilled shrimp, which come with peppers and onions and two sides. I opted for cheese grits and green beans, but cream corn was the biggest hit out of all the sides our party ordered.
