I got a jasmine tea with boba, while my sisters got a mango peach breeze tea and the Ba-La matcha. My sisters' teas were good but mine was bitter... I had asked for 25% sweetness for my jasmine tea and they seemed to have steeped it too long. A bit disappointing since I had to throw my tea away. I've always been so curious about this place because I always see people walking in and out of it so I was super excited to try it! The place itself is super clean. I went on a Friday afternoon so it was a bit packed. It's definitely a nice spot to study or to chat with your friends. The staff were really sweet, very helpful with my questions! I found out they don't take cash which sucks, but it's understandable. I got an Iced Matcha Latte because I figured that I've never been here, maybe I should stick to something basic. I'd heard about Bopomofo since it's opening but never had the chance to try it until now. The space is is modern looking, albeit a bit on the smaller side with limited indoor seating available. The food menu isn't expansive, but what they do offer is creative and tasty. We decided to order the "Mapo Tots" ($12), "Tawianese Fried Chicken Sandwich" ($13), "Heritage Lu Rou Rice" ($13), and a "Mint Matcha Latte" ($6). I didn't come in with the highest expectations so I was pleasantly surprised with the food. The Mapo Tots were yummy and I liked the contrast of the silky tofu with the crispy tots. I also really enjoyed the Taiwanese Fried Chicken Sandwich especially the flavorful Thai basil aioli they used in the sandwich. Both dishes stood out to me and I'd recommend them if you are unsure of what to get. As for the Heritage Lu Rou Rice, it wasn't bad at all, it just tasted a bit more average compared to the other two dishes. The cashier who took our order was friendly however for a fast casual joint, the food definitely did not come out fast. It took almost 25 minutes for our food to be ready. The young woman then lies and says no, it was just made. Um no, I've been standing inside the whole damn time watching said bag. If you mess up and just overlook it, admit it and move on. My friend Angela told me about this place when it first opened and I was intrigued by the idea of ma po tater tots, so of course this place was on my list during a recent SoCal trip! Supporting and watching Wongfu Productions on Youtube for the longest time, I remember seeing Phil posting him hard at work along with all the staff at the different locations of Bopomofo Café. I can see why the long lines were there! You are there to support Phil, and he comes through with such delicious café with their teas and food! This location can be hard to find parking at times as there are a lot of places that are really good to go to. Inside there isn't too much seating but outside there are a good amount of chairs and mini tables. The first time my fiancée and I went here, I remember raving how excited I was to try something you don't see everyday, well I mean you do at Chinese restaurants and a not so Chinese restaurant but its still pretty good..cough Panda Express...cough. But what I mean is you do not see a Honey Walnut Shrimp Burger. This goes along with other dishes Bopomofo offers, like a dish that is already good in itself Mapo Tofu, but put that on top of perfectly fried crunchy tots, like WHAT?! Honey Walnut Shrimp Burger - They are not messing around when it is 100% house made shrimp patty, cutting this burger in half to see the spread is mind boggling yet mouth drooling! The honey wasabi yuzu sauce is delicious and pairs with the shrimp patty so well. I think the honey and yuzu really balances out that wasabi flavor most people would steer away, but trust me that first bite will have you hooked! A nice little jab of spice from the pickled jalapeno, the sweetness from the shrimp and then you are hit with another sweet jab with the candied walnuts which really put the whole burger together as it gave it a crunch texture. What I love and hate at the same time, its not the biggest burger, but it the perfect size to enjoy their other delicious dishes. Taiwanese fried chicken sandwich: So delicious and unique flavours. It truly incorporated many aspects of Asian flavours into one fusion sandwich. The veggies reminded me of the Banh Mi veggies and the sauce being a nice sweet savoury flavour. The chicken was amazing quality with the right amount of crunch on the outside. The pineapple buns as the bread was super unique and really added texture to the sandwich. I highly recommend getting this sandwich! Frankie's Matcha: This is a seasonal drink, so I decided to give it a try because of I haven't had blueberry and matcha together before. It was a nice blend of matcha and blueberry. Drinks came out quickly and I really appreciate the weird drink combos. They had an espresso Cola that was pretty weird but innovative. Lychee Berry Bliss: a very refreshing lychee (coconut) milk with strawberries. Lightly sweetened and not heavy at all. Very light and easy to drink. Sparkling Sirap Rose: It was a delicious floral lightly sweetened soda but not enough syrup. I actually drank all the rose too soon and was left with tonic water. I followed Wongfu when I was younger, so I heard about their boba shop. I was curious. Tried it a few times, and the food. I was impressed. Is there anything Wongfu can't do? I'm in love with the corn tea. It has real corn in it. It is surprisingly good, and hard to find despite all the boba varieties available locally. I get it every time, because that's how in love with it I am. The food is surprisingly good. It's even good in terms of restaurant quality-- not just compared to boba shops. I tried the mapo tots, their rice dishes, their sandwiches on pineapple bread-- this is how you do fusion. Everything is flavor, delicious, well prepared, and interesting. read more

We came here for the stamp card spring cleaning special and bought the honey roasted oolong milk tea and got the jin xuan oolong milk tea free. Both drinks were delicious and refreshing! I got full sweet on both but might lessen the sweetness next time. My husband liked both drinks at full sweetness though so welp, I guess full sweet it is haha Love that everything is lactose-free so I'm not feeling terrible after. The menus were a bit confusing though since the paper menu at the register was different from the large menus on the wall and the website. It was a chill Wednesday afternoon date so very relaxed and not crowded at all. Bathroom was clean and there was a high chair I spotted which would be nice for the littles.
