Flying a U of Michigan flag and having UM-themed items on the menu deep in Pennsylvania (specifically, Penn State territory) automatically gets a star subtracted, maybe two. The nerve of this proprietor! Sitting on the patio gives you a five star view of the river and the Rockville Bridge. It's not that peaceful however due to the traffic flying up and down N. Front St. Still a beautiful view though. We stopped here on a whim today just to grab a small, quick bite and have a couple of beers while checking the World Cup scores on the television. Not busy at all this Saturday afternoon around 3:30 PM. We had no idea what we wanted so I ordered a fry with gravy on the side while deciding on something else. Definitely food service frozen fries and gravy that tastes like every other gravy you've had when it comes out of a food service packet. We then ordered little neck clams and six wings extra crispy with mild sauce. The clams were flavorful but overdone and not worth the price. The wings were medium sized and crispy and the mild sauce was excellent, just could've used a little more on the wings. Service was good and prices were a little high for the quality. I'd like to go four stars, but we're not there yet. We will stop back and try some other food and enjoy the views this summer. read more

Stopped in today with w Coworkers. Sandwich I got was as ordered. Fries were the basic extra crispy ones. Not the best but, the usual ones most places have now. Got 2 tiny pickle chips on my plate. Got carryout. It was unclear where to pick up so I tried the bar but both people at the bar keep their eyes downward and ignored my loud enough but not screaming efforts to ask where to pick carry out. They were doing something each time but could have directed me where to stand if they'd listened to me say, I just have a question. I went to see the host who sent me to the bar. Went back to the bar and after a time one of the bar people said she'd be with me in a minute again after keeping her head down and writing on a paper as long as she could. I jokingly said, "Thanks for paying attention to me," and then she served me right away. I didn't mean to offend but she was nice enough and got the food BUT my fries and three sauces we ordered (double checked ) were not included. I was rather frayed by my server saying she was trying to do 3 things at once and I forgot my plan to check the bags because I'd read reviews about this issue at this place. The food we DID get gave each of us coleslaw and a protein (butterfly shrimp and wings) and they tasted as expected. Boro is convenient and the food is okay-- not special at all but okay and okay price if you get what you asked for. Next time, unless they are putting something down in front of or talking to another customer, I will persist in being waited on AND check the bag since I read here that they don't respond appropriately to complaints. I think it's fair to say that servers need to figure out priorities. I really understand about multitasking and had left my usual $5 tip to pick up a bag of food and hand it to me so not very happy about the results but not so bad I won't try again. The Boro is a neighborhood bar that serves inexpensive drinks and decent food that is affordable. The inside is a large bar with high tops along the sides of the room. The best feature is the large deck/room that overlooks the Susquehanna River. Garage doors around the room can be raised during warmer weather, but even closed the room is brightly lit and has a good view. The food is your average bar food that hits the spot when hanging out with friends. read more

Went for the first time this past weekend. Food was pretty good although the veggies were cold, the butter didn't even melt when we put it on. We didn't want to send them back so we just ate them - the crab cake was definitely a lot of filler but overall it wasn't too bad. Disappointing and Disgusting. Stopped here for an early dinner on a Saturday - BIG MISTAKE. The food was not just disappointing - it was disgusting. My wife ordered a cheeseburger - medium. The bun looked like what happens when a package of buns is placed on the bottom of a grocery bag with heavier items put on top - squished and flat. The burger was greasy with no crisp or char, and was not medium - it was red and uncooked in the center. My wife became physically ill from the burger, and still wretched the next day when I mentioned it. My BLT was just as bad. While the bread appeared to have passed through a toaster, it was completely white - with absolutely no toasting, no browning. While the bread was under-toasted (really, not toasted at all), the poor quality bacon was mostly fat that had been overcooked and fried to a flavorless yellow crisp. The lettuce was wilted and sparse - actually only a single outside leaf, and the tomatoes were old and wilted (as they were on my wife's cheeseburger). The french fries appeared, and tasted, as if they sat for a while before being served. The pathetic burger and fries (while not subject to redemption by any means) couldn't even be covered-up by ketchup because the generic ketchup bottle on the table was empty. Amazingly, in the same visit, the Boro managed to serve my wife the worst cheeseburger she ever had and to serve me the worst BLT I ever had - that's quite an accomplishment! To top it off, I watched a server wipe down a nearby table and - rather than scooping up the food particles from the table top - she swiped them onto the floor. Sometimes a restaurant has an off night and deserves a second chance - but not this one! We will NEVER be back! read more

I stopped for quick bite at the bar. I've been searching for good wings in Harrisburg so tried theirs. I ordered basic wings with "hot" sauce. While they were fresh, hot and good, they weren't excellent and I don't understand why a good wing is so elusive. They needed to be fried probably 1-2 more minutes. I don't want to see the "goosebumps" on the chicken skin. Secondly, The Boro's "hot" is way beyond "hot" it is more accurately "very hot" I always get hot and these were significantly too hot. Sat outside with a group of friends to play trivia and have dinner. The volume of the music was so loud and the acoustics so awful I could barely hear the person doing trivia. The outside garage area is just like an echo chamber and is awful when a few tables filled up. A rowdy group (of adults) came and we all darted for the doors to save our ears. It also gets insanely hot outside and there's no air flowing. The pretzel with crab and cheese for $18 was a big hard log and not really a pretzel, but a 8 inch hard lump and not edible. I think food is hit or miss as my friends were generally OK with their food. I was satisfied with the service. Mgt needs to make the 'deck experience better' and the inside is just dark. read more

The food was fine, nothing too special from what we ordered (ie ham hoagie & a tuna salad. Onion rings were not warm when served). Waitress was super nice, helpful, patient and good at her job. The interior was clean and updated modern. The exterior appears to be revamping a bit maybe (new doors/windows) but looks as if it was started some months ago and still just sitting unfinished (?). Some areas of customer entrance need cleaned up (fall decor placed on top of filthy entry way, w/super cruddy light fixtures). Great hometown spot. Standard bar fare, standard drink selection, great atmosphere. Staff is always very friendly! Can't beat the views in the summer of the river with the garage doors open. Stopped by for food and drinks with friends last night. We sat out on the patio which was comfortable for a late August evening. They had a large selection of beers and some specialty cocktails, the orange crush was good not great. The wings were well cooked and the sauces (mango habanero and the works) were not overpoweringly spicy. We also had the Boro fries which were quite good but could have used ranch or another sauce for dipping (I don't use ketchup). All in all it was a great time and I plan on going back. I found myself here in want of a afternoon ladies cocktail and they did not disappoint with the cocktail--had some fries with gravy and the server was very nice and accommodating. We were there on Sunday at about 5:30. It was one of the worst dininbg experiences that I have ever had. We were a party of six. One guest ordered French onion soup. As entrees 3 people ordered wings, 2 ordered burgers and 1 order a grilled chicken sandwich. The soup came out in a timely manner, and then we waited and waited. When we inquired, we were told that the kitchen got busy right as we ordered. This happens, but it was very frustrating watching table after table of people who came in and ordered after us eat and leave while we sat and waited. We asked to speak to the manager who was unfriendly, unapologetic and unhelpful. When the food did finally arrive ( at least everyone's but mine) two of the wing meals were cold, the fries in one basket were mush from having the wings and sauce played on top of them. I'm afraid that not only won't we be coming back or recommending your restaurants anyone, but I feel that others need to be warned what is considered acceptable service by management there. read more

Very average food here. I went with a group of five and we all ordered pretty standard pub food fare and none of it was memorable. Some of it was even pretty pricey. When it came to the service our server really did not seem to know much of the questions I asked. I also did not like how dense of a bun the burger comes on. I practically had to eat through 3 inches of bread just to get to the meat. Everything else was good, but the bun just got in the way of the whole thing. The view of the river and Rockville Bridge is gorgeous, but that just about wraps up the positives for this restaurant. I think I will pass on this in the future. read more

I can't review the food, drinks or even wait staff. I wanted to have an outing with my father who is in a wheelchair. While there was ample and available handicapped parking, there was no place for him to sit. There was a private event in the dining room, so that was closed. There are only high top tables and bar level seating in the bar area which can't accommodate a wheelchair. Most of the porch seating is also high top and bar top. And while there was a few standard outdoor tables that were pushed together family style, the server would not ask the current diners if w could just separate the one empty table at the end. So we had to leave as there we no where to even wait. Disappointing and as anyone who has to take a wheelchair in and out of a car with and elderly. parent knows how difficult that is, only to have to go elsewhere and do it all again. read more

The restaurant had an open part where you can oversee the river and bridge across the street. When we arrived, the table and seats were kinda dirty, but the servers were very friendly. Our table got the sample sample sample share which included chicken tenders 2 sliders, fried pickles, fried jalapenos and some other fried cheese ball. Definitely a big portion, and is a perfect table appetizer. I ordered the Phully Cheese Steak, which also comes with chips and a side (I got applesauce!). I'm a regular customer. Frequenting this establishment at least 2 times per week. Every time I visit I order food, every single time. I don't go just to drink. Their rules that you MUST purchase and eat food with every drink is excessive. That each person MUST purchase food to get a pint of beer is crazy! You can't place your order and hold input to kitchen until you unwind a bit, you must get your food immediately. Was so frustrated with these requirements that I ate my appetizer, drank my one beer and went up the street for a nice relaxing steak dinner. I enjoyed relaxing with a beer while I perused the menu. I didn't need to wait until my food came for a cocktail. No other establishment has taken the food with alcohol purchase this extreme! When the COVID requirements are lifted, I will think hard before I make this my regular stop again! Many of us regulars are very disappointed! read more

I can't speak to the food here which is why only a 3 star review. If I happen to eat here Ill update. The menu for those wondering has the typical standard bar food...wings, burgers, ect. Fun little place to hang out and have some drinks on the outside patio/dining room. When the weather is nice grab a beer and watch the river and the trains roll by. I wish there was a bigger beer selection but I made due with some Victory and Guinness. Perhaps give some love to local breweries on the menu? Services was good, Lauren always made sure our drinks were filled and checked up on us.
