Saw a Facebook video about this place and decided to give it a try. Had the chicken wings with General Tso's sauce and ranch. Sauce had just the right heat and very tasty. The fries were fresh cut and the perfect pairing. The waitress was attentive and quick to deliver the food hot. The building was large and had an upstairs party area. Plenty of parking, but we were there for lunch. Got to meet Constantine when he came out to check on us. Really friendly and part of a great family dining lineage in the area. It looks like this place has been here for a while. We are in the area occasionally for work, so it was our first time. It's very unassuming from the outside. I really loved the atmosphere of the inside bar area, which is where we sat. We were greeted as we found seats at the bar. There are also tables in the bar area. We stopped for lunch. It wasn't busy. Nice atmosphere. The bartender took our drink order right away. Drinks were nicely poured. Great menu! Lots of options. We both ordered the Stuffed Flounder, although with different sides. Our food took a little while. We weren't in a hurry and had ordered a dinner entree. Other items might be quicker if you're on a limited lunch break. Everything was delicious! We even finished with Apple Pie Ala Mode for dessert. I can still taste it! Yummy! We hope to stop again next time we're in Harrisburg! read more

Why the reviews are even above 1.0 is baffling because we did not see anything that was close to good service when there visiting friends. Our experience was waiting, being ignored & snipped at by rude entitled females when looking for friends that were seated! No proper customer service was offered! Considering the undesirable part of town & the poor behavior of the waitstaff we called our friends & told them we will visit another time in a better area & locate a real restaurant rather than a dive bar! I ordered seafood soup in a bread bowl. This is what I got. 2 miniature shrimp, with veggies. On top of the dog food, being served as food, the fake black Alice (waitress) who looks like Ms Piggy's grandmother was totally disrespectful. I explained I was not happy with my food, the seafood soup lacked seafood, and because it was placed in the bread bowl, all the liquid was soaked into the bowl. Came here for their 5pm to 7pm Happy Hour with a friend. It's your typical sports bar with lots of different sports/sports news to watch. Food was pretty good. I had a burger--it was a decent size and very juicy. You can choose from a bunch of different sides (fries, chips, salad, coleslaw). We sat at the bar and the bartenders were just ok. Watched a female bartender get in to an argument with a patron at the bar. Very unprofessional and found out later she was actually a supervisor! It took a little while to get refills on drinks and our final bill. I would give this place another chance since I wasn't in a hurry and had at least a little patience. Moved in nearby this place and wandered in for a six pack to go one night. From just walking in there and the smiling faces of the staff in that 5 minute interaction I knew I'd be back. Rookies is a bar near the eastern part of Harrisburg on Derry street. I usually frequent this place during the NFL season as it is a more "honest" atmosphere then the Downtown Sports bars with the exception of Kokomo's. They have daily specials on food and brew and you can have a private engagement upstairs. It is a good place to take a family or just hang out with friends. Pool tables, sometimes a DJ, Jukebox, Karaoke-i think-, private dining, plenty of TV and screens, ATM. Pros: The food is decent and the wings were great when I used to eat them. I liked the salads the best. Drinks were about what you'd expect and the Owner and staff are friendly. Wings are comparable to Kokomo's and The Underdog-perhaps a bit better depending on your preference. Cons: Parking, Parking, Parking! And the quality of service goes down in the off season. The owner is the same owner of Gilligan's (i think) and it shows when he's not there. For the size of this place they could have more restrooms. If you order certain burgers they bury them in cole slaw. I HATE Cole SLAW!!! If you forget to tell the waiter you don't want it, you'll have a plate full of it. read more

Well I came here based on the "Best Burger in Harrisburg" quote. I ordered the Bronco Burger. Service didn't take long and the burger was cooked perfectly. However it lacked a huge amount of seasoning. This was actually one of the blandest burgers ive ever had. I dont even think it had salt in it. I prefer my onion rings to be just one huge freshly breaded ring on top instead of the 4 small ones I got. BBQ sauce wad decent. Rolls seemed homemade but more like a ciabatta roll than a hamburger roll. My friend got the wings and I did think they were excellent. I will be back for some wings and soup. I love to dine here. Every time I go there I try something different. This place is not just a typical bar joint, they have some of the best French onion, and seafood soup, that is out of this world. Of course the wings and burgers are also excellent. Or you could order dinner that is comparable to a upscale restaurant, I recently had a portebella mushroom stuffed with crabmeat, OMG. I also wanted to note that even thou this is a bar, you can bring kids to dine, as there are strict rules about using profanity, and that this is a family welcome spot. Everytime I have been there just about- I have ordered food and have never been unhappy with the food. The service has always been top notch- slower when they are slammed but that is understandable. The place is always clean and the people who work there are overall friendly. 2 times I have been there I ordered wings and I felt there wings are one of the best in the Burg! I am not a wing eater most of the time, I get in my sprits but this place has good wings! I agree with a previous review that the parking is not good- even one time I remember part of it was un-level and scrapped the bottom of my car. I decided to try this place out because of the generally positive reviews here on Yelp. I don't understand how anyone can rate this place highly. I ordered both a hamburger and wings. The burger was overcooked the first time out. When they cooked a new one up, it was done more to my liking but it lacked taste. It is hardly, as their menu proclaims, the best burger in the Burgh. The wings were among the worst I've had; small and generic. They reminded me of the wings from a buffet line.
