Then, I wanted something sweet and decided on gelato that had pieces of red velvet cookies inside. So good!! The food was tasty but I did think it was a bit greasy. That took away from the experience. But the staff was so helpful and pleasant I would definitely try them again ! They have plenty of seating: indoor and outdoor. For the platter, a small gelato and a small drink my total was $18 which for breakfast seems pretty reasonable. It's worth a try if you're in the North Wilmington area. read more

I wanna start with the good stuff and say that this place is so so cute. My husband and I went for breakfast. They have indoor and outdoor seating and it looks like a great place to go and get some work done during the week if you want to support a smaller business and not a Starbucks. The day we went it was not busy. However, we waited about 45 minutes for our food... eggs and crepes. We had to check on our order after a table that came in well after us got their food. Not sure what was going on that day, but our food was not hot and generally just pretty mid. The staff was nice enough though and the place is cute so I want to give them another shot and try the gelato next time. Five stars honestly doesn't feel like enough. Boro Cafe catered breakfast for a meeting I attended in Delaware, and I am still thinking about their cheese danish a month later. And I need to be clear, I am a pastry girl. I have eaten my fair share of danishes. This was something completely different. The pastry was unbelievably flaky and layered, with this slightly crisp, almost crunchy outside and what tasted like the lightest glaze over it. Then you get to the cheese filling and somehow the whole thing is just perfect. The textures together were ridiculous. I genuinely remember taking the first bite and thinking, what IS this magical delight?! It may sound dramatic, but it was one of the most delightful things that has ever touched my lips. I cannot understand how these pastries are coming out of this little cafe in Delaware and aren't being shipped worldwide. Boro Cafe, PLEASE figure out nationwide shipping because I would happily have a box show up at my door. I'm writing this review a month after the summit, and I still wake up some mornings wishing I had access to that cheese danish. Absolutely vile manager! I went in here for the first time, for a job interview. As soon as the manager Deborah saw me, she insulted me. I arrived dressed in professional attire and even had my hair curled, and she borderline called me too pretty or even ugly, I couldn't tell which one. She said, "You don't look like a Line Cook." and gestured to her upper body saying, "It's this." referring to how I looked. I have been a professional cook for over 10 years, and have NO IDEA what she meant by looking like a cook. She asked me why I wanted to leave my current workplace, which truthfully is not her business, I answered respectfully, professionally, and honestly. She did not focus on my skill level, assets, resume, or experience, she didn't even ASK. I don't think she knew ANYTHING about me when she even texted me asking about scheduling the interview. She said, "I don't want to continue this interview." after me explaining my workplace does not respect me or give me growth opportunities, when I said NOTHING WRONG! Don't ask questions if you don't want the truth. That's not how interviews work. I wouldn't waste my business on a hostile and disrespectful cafe like this. If you like 'Maman" in Ardmore this is your place. The food selection is so good! I noticed pastry shops selling just about the same stuff. And coffee shops brewing watered down over ground beans. NOT BORO! This location uses rival brothers blends (One of my personal faves) for both coffee and tea. Their pastries are made in house. You can 100% tell the difference because most of what they have you can't get most places. Exp: I had a fairly large ham and goat cheese quiche with a nice lil side salad. (the salad was not my fave, but a wonderful addition to the meal). They also serve gelato! Many of the gals who stopped in grabbed a sample if not a fairly large serving to go. The coffee was hot to trot right out the pot! I was pleased to see a pot of coffee. Now, my age is showing! lol! The barista/counter staff were friendly. more so than when I am in Philly or the suburbs. It was very quiet in this location, but a chap from the back was placing speakers about the room so I assume they have music playing but just not when I was there. I enjoyed the quiet. The overall conversations of the room weren't intrusive. I didn't get the sense this was a place that was overrun by college students or outdated with senior citizen patrons. There was a great blend of all sorts of clientele. I can only pray they are going to expand locale a little further in the Philadelphia area. Boro Cafe is truly THE best coffee shop in the area! The Rival coffee is soooo good! The cafe dining area is so inviting, subtle, relaxing music and cozy tables to enjoy breakfast (great eggs, potatoes, lunch sandwiches & more). A huge display case of house made pastries (I love the blueberry scones & chocolate chip cookies) galore! AND, after my latte (I get either hot or iced)....I have to have a homemade gelato! Boro is an oasis in our midst - the decor is beautiful and above all....the staff are kind, caring, and eager to please. The owner, Colin, often comes out from the kitchen and welcomes guests, asking how their meals are. Outside sunny tables next to beautiful flowers are also available. My husband & I have been coming here since June 2024 - here's an update: - While the usual, young staff are very friendly & competent, sometimes Boro has other staff that's far less trained - Gelato is still great and fairly priced - Desserts are very good - Coffee drinks are still inconsistent, but good when they're good Our main issues are -1) It's a little too warm in there during the Winter -2) Music is still far too soft - we can barely hear it. It makes talking with others at the table awkward. -3) Lights are far too bright when you eat there at night. Once again, it's awkward and makes us self-conscious. Turn them down & make it cozier. -4) The food is very inconsistent in quality & prep time. (Example: one time we were literally the only people there, and it took 30 minutes for the hamburger to be made. When it finally arrived, it was crispy and over done. Just what the hell are they doing back there in the kitchen for 30 minutes?! Other times, the hamburger was better and came out faster. ) In short, it seems like there's quality here in Boro that's trying to fight its way out of awkwardness & inconsitancy. read more

Have you been to Boro?? It is a quaint, comfortable cafe with friendly and knowledgeable staff! My family loves all of the amazing gelato that is made right there on premise! They also have delicious sorbet for those of us that are dairy free - so good!! I can't say how much I like this place. I've eaten breakfast lunch and dinner there and everything I've had is outstanding. The breakfast breakfast sandwich is great in the morning with the smashed potatoes and fried onions are off the hook. The salads and sandwiches are all scratched made, including the bread, there is a prefix dinner menu some nights and it is outstanding. We came her on recommedation from a friend and was very dissapointoing. Rival Bros coffee but very weak... maybe a blond roast? Also, two shots for both Americano sizes: really? pay more for extra water? We waited a long time for our food to come out, which was luke warm. The bacon, egg, cheese english muffin was McDonalds quality and side of potatoes was soggy. Atmosphere and decor were nice. I don't see coming back here. Much better options with Sleeping Bird, Brew Ha Ha, and First Watch. Wilmington still need better coffee/brunch spots. This isn't it. read more
