We traveled there from Suffolk county after seeing the restaurant on the show restaurant hunter. The bartender was very nice, I had some time as I waited for my party to arrive and watched the derby. The service all around was good, I just wish I could say the same for the food. I had the white clam sauce and the clams were very tough and chewy, my wife had the veal, the breading was falling off and the veal was a little tough. My friend did not like her pasta dish either. Service is terrible. My daughter and I ordered calamari. I wanted mild and my daughter asked for medium sauce. When the food came out it was shrimp with linguini. We said that is not what we ordered ,and the waiter insisted that is what we ordered and brought the menu to show us that is what we pointed to.We told him we wanted, calamari we did not say shrimp or point to shrimp on the menu. Yes I am of Italian decent so I am not sure if that disqualifies me for some of you or gives me a PHD for knowing Italian cuisine. If you value quality ingredients and are wanting delicious Italian food at a fair price, then this is your place. I have enjoyed this fine restaurant for over 30 years and I am confident you will too. I am really not trying to make my wait time longer by encouraging others to try one of my favorite restaurants, but doing what's right is right. I see some of the reviews here have not been as favorable as mine and I wonder what mood they were in to start with, as I have never experienced anything like what they were saying. I'm thinking something else may have been in play with those individuals or it could have been a fluke as I have never had any issues that the waiters/waitresses did not make right immediately. I can only tell you it is worth trying for yourself. The Baked Zitti, Chicken Marsala, Cheese Ravioli and the Cheese Lasagna w/Meat Sauce (gravy) are my favorites. My boyfriend and I were seated in a booth... ten minutes went by and not one waiter or waitress came over to us, a busboy never even came over for water. We sat another 5-10 minutes and decided to leave. People continuously passed us by as if we were invisible. We wanted to tell the hostess we decided to leave and then nobody was at the hostess stand. First let me say I have been coming to Borrelli for many years. We enjoy the pizza and food can be a hit or miss. The staff has been their for ages, it's seems a little lackadaisical not with the urge to please the customer above and beyond. Dishes are removed so slow from the table to make room for entree and desert. Bar should chill beer glasses instead of warm glasses for draft. This is a family run business for over 50 years. Staff is excellent, and if you've been there several times in the past few years, you'll notice the same servers on every visit. I think that says a lot about how well the restaurant is run. Food is good and plentiful. Saturday night is live music night. Be prepared to shout a lot if you sit close to the band. read more

This is old-world/old-school Italian food. I love this neighborhood joint. The food is always good. Always served hot. I've never had a bad meal here. Very casual and kid friendly. I would not recommend it for a first date, as it's not the quietest or the most romantic. But, if you want good food, this is your place. I love the veal parm. The food was ok, but our service from Rob was outstanding! He was so nice, friendly and helpful. That was the best part of our visit. The stuffed mushrooms should have been cooked more. I don't like a crunch when I bite into them. The fried zucchini sticks were excellent, the mini-meatballs pretty good. We also got rigatoni with sausage, which we thought would have whole pieces of sausage, but it was the insides of them, but with the rubbery outer skin left on. It tasted good, but the way the sausage was prepared ruined it. What was off-putting was when we got there...outside the restaurant, along the front of it, were giant weeds all over the place. Went here with a friend recently for some lunch on Presidents' Day. We used to go all the time years ago and the food was really good. Don't know what's happened since then, because now its awful!! My friend got tortellini Alfredo for around $15 and there were 11 tortellini on the plate! He's a big guy, but even for a regular person this seemed like a joke. I got the rigatoni with sausage, which was my favorite thing to eat there back in the day..it was terrible! It was cold, except for the nuked sausage which had hot and cold spots. And the cream sauce was more like a paste. Such a disappointment! I guess I won't be going there again. So sad. read more

I've always liked Borellis because of the appetizers and pizza. I've definitely had much better Italian food. Service is eh. Depends on who you get. There are service experienced long timers who are fantastic but the younger staff is not too attentive. The remodel and atmosphere is nice. My wife and I live in Freeport that is loaded with fine restuarants on the waterfront. We however like to treat ourselves to Borrelli's Italian Restaurant for a few reasons. Borrellis has been around like forever. It's a family run restaurant that this 63 year old went to as a teen living in Levittown. It must be doing something right. In very recent years they upgraded and we have taken advantage of the small party room in the back for our Freeport Friends annual Christmas Party. They have good food (our favorite starter is the chopped salad), bread made on premises and really good Italian dinners and sauces at special prices for groups. We like te diversity of choices and the competitive prices. Te place is also just across from the Nassau County Colosseum making it a good stop before an evening show or right fer an afternoon show with the kids. Best though is being able to stop in and sit down for fresh pizza pie, pasta and more good food as a romantic couple or a family group. They have a great staff that has always aimed to please us. I'm now thinking ths must be the oldest restaurant I have occasion to continue going back to. Probably though, their makeover, through the years, is better than mine. Amazing, the Borrellis family keeping their name out there with good food and service. My wife and I recommend them and went with five stars because over the years, they have never missed yet when dining there and because of Hurricae Sandy thy have continued to help people, still without kitchens to be provided with delicious diners delivered home via an ongoing project called Angel Food Deliveres. I've been here a number of times and the food has always been very good - never out of this world but never terrible. The pizza is also very good, the buffalo chicken slices are fantastic. One appetizer that is absolutely delicious is the broccoli bites!!! They have Karaoke on Friday and live music on Saturday nights. The owner Frank is probably one of the nicest people you will meet. What a shame! My friends and I went here yesterday because we were nearby, it's been here forever, and none of us had ever been. So disappointing...first, the salad is not included in any of the pasta entrees, just all of the others, but we ordered it anyway and it was Great! Both the house and the the Caesar were very good! That's where it ended. I ordered pasta with broccoli rabe which was tasteless and the rest of the girls ordered the stuffed rigatoni which they also said was bland. Came here for the first time and we were not impressed at all. They give you warm bread with butter and that was ok. We Ordered Fried Calamari and it was crispy on the outside but very chewy on the inside. Also ordered pasta with tomato sauce and the sauce tasted like it was out of a can. It had no flavor what so ever. The waitress however was very nice, keep checking on us to see if we needed anything. I live locally about a mile away and we just ordered to a local hotel , the food quality varies way to much by means of portion and quality . We just ordered two pies and a ziti for over 50$ which is absurd , both pies were burnt and tasted like grease with no flavoring , each pie was a little bit bigger then the dominos style of pies which are pretty small . Iv never complained about pizza in my life but this didn't even taste like cheese , just grease . The ziti was very dry and tasted like tomato paste out of a can . Not to mention it arrived cold . For a restaurant that's been on business so long it had to of had it's fair share of neglect and management change Which leads to the food just simply not being prepared to expected levels . I started eating at Borrelli's in 2005. I've been coming here as diner there for 10 years, had enjoyed dinners there about 6 times a year, usually on the weekends. This past year has been disappointing, sorry to say. I don't know what is happening in the kitchen. Think there is a lack of quality control. Recently on 12/19 my wife ordered a Eggplant Rollatini entree which was good, but the penne pasta side it came with was all gummy and overcooked with too much water left in the bowl it was served in. Spouse sent the penne back but the replacement penne the waiter came back with also gummy and did not taste good. The fountain diet coke did not taste good. Last time we ate there the Lentil soup was horrible. I recommend the manager, restaurant owner, head cook check the food they are serving to customers. The last two dinning experiences (with food and drink) were less than satisfactory. read more

After eating at De Gennaro on Mulberry and the new Puglia in East Meadow I still come to Borrelli's for great Italian food. While I'm not a critic or a reviewer I can only say that unlike most restaurants sometimes I just ask them to make what I feel like eating and they accommodate me. You can't do that where everything is corporate owned and you get that glazed over look from your server when they don't see it on the menu. So next time go in and say " I'd like some sausage ( the best anywhere ) and peppers in garlic and oil and put some cheese on it" and let loose for God's sake. read more

The staff completely ignored us when we walked in and when we asked for a table, the server rolled her eyes and made it seem like she was doing us such a huge favor. Talk about a 180. This was my 3rd time here. First was great, 2nd was ok and this was awful. We went on a Monday night at 830 and granted it was a slow night. The restaurant reeked as if the tap lines hadn't been cleaned in a year (yes, spending 10 yrs behind the bar earns you that nose for detail), the diet coke was flat, the mozzarella sticks were cold and lumpy, the chicken parm was ok, but way heavy on the Garlic, the Ceaser had stale croutons and the dressing was as close to Mayo as possible, and the kicker was the Veal Francese. Bland, doused in way too much sauce, the cutlet itself was old and chewy and in fairness to veal, that calf was probably way over the age limit. The good news is, the bottled beer was ice cold. So in closing, the 3rd time was definitely not a charm and if you're going here for Pizza, you should be fine. Anything else, well let's just say that they need some work or perhaps some new cooks. I had not been to this restaurant in some time, and what a change! The inside has beautifully redone. The seating is more comfortable, and spacious. They even added an area in the back for group parties! The bar area has been totally redone too. I hear that they run a great Karoake night on Fridays. Its worth a relook for all.
