Splendid meal! Husband and I went for date night. Fabulous service with great attention to detail. I got the filet with truffle butter. Cooked to perfection and so decadent! Husband had the rib eye and bordelaise which was "the best restaurant rib eye" he has ever had (high praise from a Texan carnivore). Brussels sprouts with pork belly were delicious. Also enjoyed the French onion mac and cheese but it could have been a tiny bit hotter from the broiler and bubblier- very nit-picky statement but I really had to search for anything that would leave room for improvement. We did not get dessert because nothing on the menu struck us. I am a lover of desserts so I'd love to see something scrumptious show up on their dessert menu!!! The food was great but I want to underscore the excellence of the service!!!! Our server, Doug, was knowledgeable and attentive. GM Jim also made his way to all of the tables and was so welcoming. I had the Allen Brothers Filet Mignon, it was one of the best steaks I have ever had and was cooked to a perfect medium rare. The wine list was great with some big reds on it to accompany any steak. Bos Taurus is next level awesome! The staffs friendliness is backed by their amazing food/wine knowledge and obvious passion for all things fine dining. The menu has been designed with such careful precision that you know you are in for an amazing culinary experience from the first glance... I am lucky enough to have tasted most of the items on the menu and they are all superb! Stand outs for me are as follows: Chef's Whim Soup, something new and exciting every time I have dined and always impressive in plating design and flavour complexity! Beet and Crab salad, so many different flavour and texture elements on one plate and yet all perfectly in sync! 5oz filet with truffle butter, ohhh baby this is to die for... I don't eat a lot of red meat but this is melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness with or without sides! Lastly, the Brussel Sprouts with crispy pork belly... There is a reason I grew up hating evil Brussels and Bos Taurus aint it! I could live on this dish... Enough said I think what the Bos crew is bringing to Bend is enviable and super impressive. It was our 47th anniversary and my husband loves steak. Made reservations about a week earlier and told them about our anniversary. We are seated at a table in the entrance walkway and given a card that said "Happy Birthday". Then he orders the Wagyu steak with truffles. He told them I had a delicate stomach and they suggested the beet salad with a side of crab. First, my salad was spicy and if I had a tablespoon of crab I would be surprised. Second, my husband said the steak had no flavor. Then the next couple days his stomach was upset. This is a man who has a stomach of iron. Very disappointed, and we will return to our beloved Ringside in Portland, where we have never had a bad meal!! read more

I took my fiancé' here for dinner on his birthday last night. The whole experience was more amazing than I could have planned for! We were seated on the second floor with a table next to the railing so we could view the entire restaurant. The ambience was reminiscent of one of our favorite restaurants in San Francisco. They had hip music playing to drown out conversations of tables around us, which lightened the mood in the restaurant. We were first treated to sparkling wine to toast the occasion, followed by the most amazing 8 oz filets that either of us has ever had the pleasure of tasting. The experience was topped by the executive chef George Morris coming upstairs after we had finished our dinners to make sure we were pleased with the selections. The cauliflower app was full of amazing flavors. The bread with butter and salt melted in your mouth. Our chosen sides of Mac and cheese and mashed potato purée perfectly complemented the meat. The staff even signed a Birthday card that was left on the table for my man. We will most definitely be back again hopefully soon! read more

4 of us were visiting Bend from the Atlanta area so no strangers to very good restaurants. Bos Taurus was recommended to us by friends that live in both Atlanta and Bend. In short- this is a top notch restaurant from the moment you walk in. The hostess was friendly and right from the start we knew we were not in a pretentious environment. Our waitress Jennifer could not have been more friendly yet professional and made everything We easy. The food was fabulous and that is not an adjective I over use. We started with the Wagyu as an appetizer (amazing) and both couples shared a salad - we had the beet and our friends the wedge and both were exceptional. I forget the name of the bread but off the charts good. Martinis were far better than average and a nice wine list . Everything else was so good we shared a dessert and likewise exceptional. Bottom line while it is not an inexpensive night - it was worth it and a very very good restaurant both from the service and quality of the food and preparation. Kudos to the entire staff. read more

Where to start. We have been to many of the restaurants in town that serve steak and have not had a good experience yet. We have heard people rave about Bos Taurus and decided to give it a try. The restaurant is small but cozy. The menu is very well thought out and the selections all looked fantastic. We had a table of four and we're celebrating our anniversary with my parents. We started off with both selections of Wagyu, oysters and soup. The Wagyu absolutely blew my mind. It was served on a wood chopping block and eaten with gold tweezers. The presentation was simple and the steak truly melted in your mouth. A eating it your mouth was left with the most delightful coating of goodness I have ever experienced. I grew up in Seattle and have had some fabulous oysters. I have to see the oysters I had here were by far the best I have ever eaten. They were very fresh and had the perfect amount of spices. We later found out the restaurant has no freezers only a few small refrigerators and the food is delivered fresh every single day. We had a crab, ham winter squash bisque that was beautifully presented and honestly in the top 3 best soups I have ever had. For dinner my father ordered the halibut which is a permanent item in the menu. My mom ordered a salad and my wife and I both ordered the 8oz filet from a farm in AZ. We ordered a side of truffle fries, Brussels sprouts, mashed potatoes and mac and cheese for the table. The waiter Todd brought out a box and we selected our own handmade knife I tried the halibut and it was delightful. Flaky and perfectly cooked. Our steaks were cooked to perfection. Not a piece of fat or gristle anywhere. The flavors were absolutely perfect. It was the best steak I had ever had by a mile. The sides were all so good I couldn't pick a favorite. The Brussels sprouts were served with nuts and had the greatest taste. My kids went crazy over the mac and cheese we brought home with us. I can't recommend this restaurant enough. They managed to create the best place to eat in Bend and kept it from being stuffy. It was one of the most unique dining experiences of my life. I am so excited to come back. You don't have to spend a lot of money to have a great time either. A few oysters, soup and split a steak and you have the perfect date night. Seriously give this one a try, you won't be sorry. This is a fabulous upscale restaurant whose food, service and ambience merit its prices. The soup of the day, beet salad and cauliflower were outstanding creations. Even the large popover and special butter concoction served to every guest were incredible. While the steaks were perfectly done and the best a person can find in the Northwest, the truffle pommes frites and oysters were unbelievable. I would return to eat them alone with a fine glass of wine. The wine selection was small but very good. A few more additions of outstanding Oregon wines, for example, an oaked chard and a Styring pinot noir and port, would round out the list nicely. read more

We had a lovely time at Bos. The staff was extremely nice and attentive. We started with a Ceasar, which they split for us without our asking (very nice). My husband's steak came out perfectly, while mine was overdone. I don't like to send food back, but I like my steak medium rare and this was medium, possibly medium well, so I tried to eat it, but I just couldn't, so the waiter graciously took it back and had another one fired. Our sides were the creamed spinach and mashed potatoes, both of which were fantastic. While we waited for my new steak to come out, they brought another side of brussels sprouts and all of the optional steak sauces they offer. I ate some of my husband's steak, which was fantastic. My steak came out and didn't quite have the char on it that I prefer, but it was cooked correctly inside and tasted good. We passed on dessert because we were full. The staff were so gracious. I really can't say enough good things about the staff. They ended up comping some of the bill because of the steak mess up. If we make it back to Bend again, we will stop by (maybe even try the Wagyu!)! read more

Tonight was our first experience at Bos Taurus and it definitely will not be the last. We are carnivores and have longed for a really great steak house in the Bend area. Paradise Found! Everything we had was delicious; from the wedge salad to the poppers to the truffle fries and finally, the piece de resistance, the bone-in tomahawk ribeye. Hands down the best steak in memory. First off, you should be expecting this restaurant to give you a 5 star experience and the food and drinks will be there. Do not go here, if you are not ready to spend $150+ per person. This restaurant was amazing. We had late reservations, so we decided to sit at the bar, and get the same full service, and it was more fun to talk to the bartender and other guests seated next to us. We had the Fois Gras for an appetizer, and had cocktails and a nice cab from Napa. Then had the crispy Brussel sprouts with our steak orders, and my wife got the filet with Truffle butter on it. Then for desert we got their special hand made ice cream, and then my wife ordered a smoked Manhattan. Everything was spot on with Corey being our bartender and server. This is a classy restaurant, that you do not need to show up in a coat and tie for. You need to check this place out. read more

Tried the new Bos Taurus restaurant and have to say it was awesome. Great appetizers, had the Veal Cheeks and Foie Gras. Beautiful presentation and both were delicious. We had the AZ Ribeye and the Australian Bavette steaks. Both were excellent, hard to find beef like this in Bend and the Bordelais sauce was the best I've ever had. They mount it with bone marrow instead of butter. Perfect for steaks like these. The French Onion Mac and Cheese was killer while the White Truffle Pommes Frites were very good, I was getting too full to finish them. The Wild Turkey Manhattan ice cream was the perfect ending to an exceptional dinner. Superb wine list too with unique wines from around the world but some great values too. Can't wait to go back. I'm dreaming about the Bos again and I don't mean Springsteen. It's been 1 month since my last confession...to the bartender that is. Our first experience in July had me longing to get back here and in December, a business trip sealed my fate. I sat at the bar this time and thoroughly enjoyed the great insight into all the amazing cocktails that were tossed, twirled and poured. A wonderful couple celebrating an anniversary, another single traveler made up the bar seaters and the restaurant buzzed with it's tune of a few dozen. This restaurant isn't just about the food, the incredible staff, the immaculate service or the ridiculous silent poetry that happens all around you, it's about the experience. Some people pay $150 to do an activity for the day, I'd pay that to join Chef George and his team everyday of the week. The kitchen is like watching a lyrical dance as they move flawlessly around one another with hot plates, mixing bowls and ready to be plated foods. It's Beethoven's fingers on the keys as the Chef's hands dance across the board when they slice, chop and spin to present beautiful perfection. I enjoyed the Chef's menu on my most recent trip where every single course was a fireworks explosion of flavors, tastes whirling about and each course blew me away. My birthday is coming up and of all the places I could go to dinner, I'm choosing a flight and a trip to Bos Taurus! read more
