Terrible service today I've came to eat at BoSa Shabu in Tempe AZ since grand opening every Friday we eat here never ever have I've had an issue until today. A new waitresses told me they couldn't serve us because we had to tip higher then other times I don't know if it's because I'm Hispanic or she was trying to pull a fast one. She told me this in front of every white and Asian person there we were the only Hispanics at the moment was so humiliating and embarrassing. 9.3.25 - super late on reviews as of lately. Ate here on a rainy, stormy evening. Hot pot was perfect! We were seated right away. You order your broth and meats then go make your dipping sauce from the sauce bar. Place was clean, veggies were fresh and meats were good. My friend wanted wagyu so we chose the diamond option. I like that you can choose between having individual pots or the bigger pot to share with the whole table. We went with individual pots. Two of us chose the spicy lemongrass broth and the other two chose spicy satay. The spicy lemongrass broth was so good! I recommend that one. Upon entry, we were greeted and seated immediately but the service following was not too helpful nor attentive. We were seated, given menus, and left to our own accord. I think it used to be a la carte but it is now AYCE. There are two tiers--gold ($30.99) and platinum ($35.99) for dinner. The three of us opted for the gold tier with the dual hotpot. There were several broth options, but they no longer have the tomato option. We ordered the miso and tonkotsu--the miso was a little salty and the tonkotsu was bland. I'm a sukiyaki broth type of girl, and they didn't have one nor one similar. There were several options for veggies and sides. I don't recommend the fried tofu--it seemed burnt and quite tough to chew. Some things to note that we had to learn on our own because we weren't given any info when seated: 1. Three plate max per order (unclear if this was due to our party being three people). 2. No max on the sides considering we received all that we ordered. 3. Sauces are located in the center of the restaurant. They have all the basics--ponzu, soy sauce, peanut, sweet chili, sriracha and fresh garlic, cilantro, chili oil. The place filled up pretty quickly, and while it was a cozy place to eat dinner and catch up with friends, there were only two servers, and we didn't get any help after our order was brought out... We only received 1 of the 3 pork belly orders due to their max plate policy, and we never got the remaining plates since no one came by to check on us. I came here on a Thursday night with my family. It's getting cold and I felt like getting some hot pot. My friend recommended BoSa Kobe. What?! I did not expect the people who owned BoSa Donut to offer hot pot. I was pleasantly surprised. They have a promotion right now, $19.99/person for all you can eat. Normally for lunch it's 20.99, and dinner it's $27.99. So worth the price! They have several beef selections on the menu, my favorites are the Angus Chuck Eye Roll and the Kobe Top Sirloin... So good! There are like 10 soup bases you can choose from. We chose the Tonkotsu, Miso, Chinese Herbal, and Korean Kimchi. I can't say which one is better because I liked them all. They have a counter where you can make your own dipping sauce. I love that. We ordered literally everything on the menu. The decor and ambiance was so so, but who cares. I just came for the food. I understand the restaurant is fairly new but I didn't like the ordering system. So if you're in a group of 10 people like my family is a big group, then it gets confusing. There was only one waitress for tonight's service but she was pretty nice and it wasn't crowded. So once your party is seated there is a sharing broth or individual station on the table. You order the broth seperately (in this case we just wanted our own). My bf and I got the Chengu Spice, which he liked but I didn't as much because I wasn't into the spicy, but it looked better than the rest. It was doable lol Anyway, there is only one paper and pencil. Your party must decide which meats you want to order between Gold or Premium (my family did Premium for Dinner- had a lot of choices for meats) and you have to write down how many quantities of meat you want to order. For example, on the first round we did 1-4 each of certain meats and veggies and noodles. But once they arrived not everything was given due to not having enough space on the table. So this is the confusing part right, because nothing was scratched off the paper (where you order), how were we supposed to know if we receieved all our meat orders as well? I'm assuming the waitress knew which ones haven't come out yet or caught up on it.. Just so you know.. each order has only bout 5-7 pieces of meat. So on our next round we ordered 7 orders of most of the meat, but again not everything came out. We didn't like that we have to wait. We clearly cleared the meats once it bathed in our broths so we wanted the rest of our order to come out, like keep em coming lol I like the lamb (meat). It had flavor. That is the only meat I can differenciate out of all the other ones. But if lamb wasn't one of the options, once the meats go in the broth, I don't know which is which. I tried my sister's Tonkotsu broth but it was too bland. There's no flavor. The Chengu Spice was ok. My other sister got something Herbal. And my mom got Kimchi broth. Mostly everyone else got Tonkotsu. There is a self service sauce bar like right in the middle, which you get to pick what kind of sauces you want to dip your meat in. I chose to mix, ponzu sauce, peanut sauce, and fresh garlic. And it was pretty good. I'd probably go back and bring some friends over and give it another go, but so far I just thought the food was ok.. If you plan to go, they do reserve. Called ahead of time and there was a table that says Reserve on it once our party arrived. Not too crowded since it's new. The restaurant is next to a Bosa Donut shop. Service was almost non existent, ambience was super dry and dull. Very quiet yet at the same time couldn't really find help. The food was decent, the broth was good and I didn't have any real complaints about the quality of food itself but for the price you pay per item and it is most definitely not worth it. I would recommend to build a vibe, train more attentive servers, and readjust the menu prices. Note: you pay per drink, no free refills. The grand opening for this new hot pot place was May 10th! They are currently promoting some specials which brought us, and many of their other customers, there. Not too far from ASU, and next to BoSa Donuts is BoSa Kobe Hotpot! We came in on a Sunday, starving from overbooking our schedule and just wanting to eat. There is a sign in sheet at the front. Just put your name and how many in your party. We arrived at 6 pm, maybe waited only 15 minutes. They do have high chairs for your little ones! My husband and I were seated and given menus. During this time, they are only doing dual broths, so you can use the big ying/yang pots. The menu will ask which two flavor soups you want (we picked tonkatsu and miso), how many quantities of each item, and even sides. We love hot pot, and I am always craving red meat, so we ordered two orders of beef tongue and Australian lamb. We also ordered two of: bok choy, napa cabbage, enoki mushrooms, fish balls, quail eggs, rice, noodles, and shrimp. And that was our mistake - you don't need to order two of everything. It will be more than enough. They have sauces at their tables, which are soy sauce, sesame, chili oil, and chili oil crunch. Now for the review: I will give benefit of the doubt due to it being their opening weekend, Mother's Day weekend, and overhearing they were short-staffed. The owner and her server did as best they could to manage the whole restaurant. We waited quite some time to get our order to the kitchen, the drinks to our table, our dinnerware placed, and our food. We watched a table leave while they were waiting because the wait was long. We also experienced and watched other diners that needed to flag down the waiter or the owner for the checks. When we were waited on, it was great! Both the waiter and the owner were very nice, and speaking to the owner, she was happy to have people and was playful when waiting on them We would like to come back when they find their rhythm. Shabu/Hotpot is probably my most favorite meals of all time. Being from California, I've had the convenience and luxury of experiencing DOZENS of different shabu restaurants - not including to the countless ones at home. I absolutely hate to do this to a new business but unfortunately, Bosa Kobe Hot Pot was the middest of the mid. The only reason why it's a 2 star and not 1 was because we came in when they were having their 50%. With that said, I sincerely hope management takes these reviews and look to improve on the what they have to offer. SERVICE - 3/5 Service was ok - nothing exceptional. Servers were nice but clearly lacked training. Upon entering the restaurant, one of the servers looked at me with a blank stare and looked surprised as to why I was even there. I had to initiate the interaction and said that I was looking for a table for two. When another server who brought out our meat orders out, I asked which plate was which meat order. He then listed them but clearly didn't even know the differences between them as he mistaken the short rib (bottom plate in my picture) as lamb and mixed up everything else. Nice dude but needs proper training. MEAT - 1/5 As you can see from the picture provided, the meat quality was extremely subpar for the price listed on the menu. Even with the 50% off applied, it was hardly worth it given the poor quality. We ordered: (3) Angus Chuck Eye Roll - $10.99 (1) Angus Premium Short rib $18.99 (1) Kobe Top Sirloin - $16.99 (1) Australia Lamb - $10.99 There was no attempt of defrosting the meat whatsoever. They were frozen and did not unroll itself when you went to pick them up. Aside from the lamb, there wasn't any distinct flavor differences between the other beef types. Once cooked, they were extremely tough and gristly. BROTH - 0/5 The broth situation was probably worse than the meat. Here you must pay for the broth which is fine, other hotpot chains such as Happy Lamb and HiDiLao do the same. However as you can see from my picture, where's the broth? We ordered a tonkotsu and chinese herbal broth which cost $12. The pot was less than 50% full of soup... even more strange was when the server brought the pot out, he said "let me refill that for you" and refilled both sides with the plain soup from the kettle... why is the pot even coming out with 25% soup in the first place? We basically paid for just standard regular soup broth. After he filled it, both broths tasted identical and had no differences whatsoever. SAUCE - 2/5 The only sauces they had was soy sauce, sriracha, a sesame sauce, and a chili oil. The sauce bar was severely lacking variety and condiments. It at least needs the basics which would include ponzu sauce, green onions, garlic, etc. In addition to the above, rice was $4 each but tasted old and hard. Soda was $3 but was no refill. With the other ayce shabu places in the vicinity, there's no reason for this restaurant to be serving this quality of meat at their normal price. HiDiLao is also expected to open up in Mesa in the near future... I find it difficult to see how Bosa Kobe Hotpot will maintain their current business model once that happens. read more

Big fan of hot pot here. This was my first time in Arizona and the heat was absolutely killer, so I was on the fence when our group decided on hotpot for dinner. BoSa however was great! Our server was patient with us as we asked questions about the menu, and everything came out very quickly. The pricepoint was very reasonable for our group, considering we ordered alcohol and lots of meat. The broths were flavorful and there was a variety of items available on the menu. When we looked this place up on google it had good reviews but I wish I would've checked yelp first. According to google it was "busier than usual" but when we walked in there was only one couple inside- red flag number one considering it's a Saturday night. The restaurant was empty. We were quickly sat and given menus and the order list thing but we weren't given any instructions on how to order. We were unsure how many broths we could choose and what quantities meant for some of the things. We eventually flagged a waitress down (there were two people on the floor) and asked. She took our order and then left. They brought out the broth pretty quickly but it was the most bland looking broth I'd ever seen. While we waited for it to heat up we helped ourselves to the very tiny sauce bar. They brought out our meat which was frozen solid and told us to wait until the broth was boiling to cook it. We did and added the food. The Tonkotsu was bland and didn't have much flavor but the miso was ok. The ramen noodles were interesting and if I hadn't added a sauce I wouldn't have eaten them. The only free refills are on water and the sodas are $3-$4. The restaurant looks nice enough with new booths and chairs. Both are comfortable. They had an anime playing on a small projector with sound. The two servers took forever to clean the table that left and seemed to think everything was a two person job. The meat tasted off. To start off, the broth is home made. Most other hot pot places use a premade pork bone broth mix and it's just sodium central. The meats are all high quality, grass fed even being an option. To be honest, once meats go into the broth, I can't tell which is what depending on how long I let some sit in etc.. the sauces they use are simple bit effective. I made a great dip combining all of the options. I must say that the Crispy Chicken app was amazing. The staff was great, service was quick. I do love Jin Shabu for the $30 AYCE by the way. But I was pleasantly surprised with how much food we got here and the price came out be around $30/person for the 6 of us. We were all stuffed and we eat a lot. read more

I got super excited when I found out about this place coming to Tempe because there really aren't any solid hot pot places that offer vegan options that are also conveniently located for me. I finally got the opportunity to try this place and while it hit the spot it definitely missed the mark in a few key areas. The restaurant itself is fine and the food that I was served was good. The service was both hit and miss. We were greeted and sat promptly but the food took a long time to arrive and we had to remind our server about missing or incorrect items a couple of times. But my number one complaint overall is the pricing, and here's why... on the weekends they charge a premium (ok fine it's the weekend) but they offer two types of all you can eat options: Gold and Premium, however, what they "forget" to tell you when you order is that if one person orders premium, everyone pays for premium. I normally wouldn't complain about this except that I'm vegan and a vegan would never order premium because the only difference between premium and gold is that premium gets you more/better meat options... so why would everyone be charged premium if only one person ordered premium? What's the point of offering vegan options if they get charged the premium price? When all was said and done we spent $100 for two people. That's enough to make me not come back. They also had a very small selection of veggies and didn't offer things like lotus root, watercress, daikon, carrots, etc. and the sauce bar did not have any vinegar which is also a hot pot staple. I'd like to be able to return here, but unless they make the pricing more on the fair side and they offer a more diverse range of veggies I likely won't be back. read more

The meat is thickly cut compared to AYCE hot pot in the valley, but SUPER FROZEN, to the point it hard to cook! Server was attentive and always checked in on us! For the grand opening 50% off i think it's a fair price ($35 after tips&tax/pax) but i don't think i would pay full price as i can go to AYCE competitors for $31. This place is AWESOME! If you've never tried hot pot before, this is your chance! The owner has dropped prices to just $27.99 a person for ALL YOU CAN EAT! (At à la carte restaurants, you can easily spend over $100 for two). We got a chance to talk to her at the end of our meal. She explained that they make all their soup bases every day for 16 hours. All their meat is trimmed and prepared in house. If a supplier doesn't have something they normally buy, they don't find a replacement, they will just not sell that item until the seller has it back in stock. The owner cares very much about consistency of flavor and quality. There is a make-your-own sauce bar that is kept very clean and well stocked. The owner explained to us that they get busy for dinners but lunch time is quiet. We went around 3:30/4pm and we're the only customers at that time. The Good: Location is right next to ASU and Mill making for a easy walk from the various bars to dinner or visa versa The service is pretty decent. We were well attended to, and our server was very kind. Ambiance is fine. Anime playing on a projector is fun and the place was clean. The Bad: The prices are highway robbery. Right now everything is 50% off until the end of May but, I cannot see this place surviving after the 50% discount is over. A serving of meat is anywhere from 12-30 dollars each, soda is 4 dollars with no refills, rice is 4 dollars for each serving, vegetables are also on the pricey side. Taste was alright. Nothing too out of this world that you can't find anywhere else. Really does not justify the price. TL;DR: There is no reason to go here after the 50% discount event due to it being extremely expensive and the taste being average. Just go to PK Shabu or any other all you can eat hot pot. If the owner is reading, adjust prices/change to AYCE and get a soda fountain. Nothing feels worse than paying 4 dollars per can of 1 dollar soda. read more
