Even during quarantine, we love exploring new restaurants. Our discovery of Bosphorus is going to be one of the best things to come out of this trying time - I'll be counting the days until we can enjoy a fresh meal here. This is a great hole-in-the-wall Turkish restaurant with a super friendly staff and some of the tastiest Turkish cuisine we've ever had. There are lots of vegetarian options, but this time I went for a platter with 3 different meats. My wife had a Döner salad. All were excellent. The home made tzatziki sauce (yes I know it has a different name in Turkish) is a standout. The only downside of Bosphorus is that they have only 4 tables, two 2-tops and two 4-tops. At the time we went that wasn't a problem, but you might want to call ahead to see if dine-in is likely to be available. read more

Small mom and pop shop. A welcome site for this area of good Turkish food. Humus plate was well presented, the gyro was just ok and the sultan plate, albeit a huge portion and well served simply was under spiced (the best part of Turkish cuisine). The owner was super friendly and nice and the food was good just not wow. The baklava was dry and left no impression as good or bad. This little place had such great reviews, even a Best of the City, but we really did not like it at all. I wonder if they just don't do vegetarian well? Our server was pleasant and fairly attentive. The space was very small and crowded - which we would have overlooked if the food had been worth it - but we were seated near the door (there are only about five tables and two are right at the door) on a cold, rainy night so it was quite unpleasant every time someone came in, freezing us and then standing practically on our table while they waited. The food: we ordered the falafel plate and the stuffed grape leaves plate. These are flavors that NEVER disappoint us any where we go. However, this was horrible! Everything was extremely over spiced and the cardamom, and something else I can't quite place, was overwhelming. I have never, ever disliked falafel or stuffed grape leaves .. we had to choke these down. The pita was grocery-store blah. It was SO disappointing. The servings were large and we only ate about a quarter of each plate and left. While we took size-able doggy bags home, we tossed them. If you knew us, you'd know how averse to wasting food and money we are, so tossing out food is significant. We will not return. read more

My boyfriend and I traveled to Turkey last year and absolutely loved the food, the people and culture. So for my birthday, he surprised me by taking me to Bosphorus. We wanted to order everything on the menu and ultimately decided on the Sultan Platter (chicken and beef-lamb gyro, chicken and beef kebab, 2 meatball kebabs topped with grilled green peppers, onions and tomatoes. Served with romaine lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pita bread and choice of fries, rice or salad). The food was incredible!! The portions are huge and the price is affordable. It made us feel like we were in turkey with all the delicious spices and the amazing service. We've recommended Bosphorus to everyone we've run into since going, they're just that good! Bosphorus is small with a welcoming chef and staff. It's a favorite lunch spot and the portions are always generous. The food is cooked to perfection and be sure to ask for the hot sauce, it's great! Even staples like rice and french fries are special. My recommendation is to try the Sultan Platter. It has a great variety of meats and the rice is amazing. Small place with big flavor and personality. I love Middle Eastern food generally, but often many restaurants in Denver miss the mark when it comes to spicing their dishes as many are very bland. Not at Bosphorus! The Turkish spices make their way onto the food here -- not overpowering but just enough to enhance the fresh, perfectly grilled meat. I was really in the mood for a Greek salad and yelp lead me here. I was greeted warmly by the gentleman who was doing everything...taking orders, making orders, ringing people up, answering the phone. I was tired watching him. My salad was good and fresh (I watched him make it). I got the salad with gyro meat on top. He was very heavy handed with the meat, not so heavy handed with the feta and olives. Thanks so much to Melih and his son Memet for providing our family not just good food but great family atmosphere. We arrived in a swarm of nearly a dozen yet we were greeted with smiles and enthusiasm. Our family quickly felt like an extension of theirs. As military children we were assaulted with memories, not only from the food but the decor. They opened their doors in 2018 and I can well imagine a need for them to expand their walls. First time visit and super happy we found this place! The staff was extraordinarily friendly and made some great recs that we dug in to with gusto! Lace was empty when we walked in at 7:30 and we were a bit apprehensive but it was unnecessary! The owner seemed happy to get a little slow day as well but by 8 4 other tables were occupied. We got the spinach pastry, iskendar and the gyro plate and finished off with a nice strong and smooth Turkish coffee. Will be back very soon! I even left something inside and he walked outside to give it to me in my car after I left- he was in a sleeveless shirt and came out in the frigid cold while it was snowing. I really appreciated that! This is a hole in the wall restaurant with two employees running it. There's a tiny parking lot in front of it that is shared with another store (I think it fits 4 cars) and then a small shared parking lot next to it (shared with a Mexican restaurant). Lentil soup- this was alright! I'm not a big fan of lentils (my friend is the fan) Fried eggplant- this one was okay Chicken drumsticks- they gave this to us on the house which was super nice of them! It was definitely flavorful! Hummus- the hummus was pretty good! Grape leaves- yum yum yum I really liked these! Very tasty. Drumroll please... the beef lamb gyro sandwich and fries is where it's at! Thank Goddess I'm lucky enough to live a block away from Bosphorus because I love gyros and stuffed grape leaves more than I probably should. I'm not sure what to add to everyone else's reviews because this many people can't be wrong, right? I can tell you what I love: any of their hot teas (expensive but worth it), lemonade, stuffed grape leaves, those spiced fries are to die for, the gyro plate or gyro sandwich are flavorful and satisfying, any of the appetizer plates and salads are delicious and did I mention the stuffed grape leaves? I've only ever been gifted baklava here on a few visits (I'm trying to avoid sweets in general) but each time it's been the super sticky sweet delicious bakery-ness that you would expect. The chef owner is genuine when you can grab him a moment for some engaging conversation. My only complaint: wish they had recycled/recyclable take out boxes but that's my wish for most places that have takeout. Love this place, you should visit. read more

Everyone has heard that could you tell when the food it cooked with love. This is the case here where you immediately know you are having something special and that the place isn't open to just make money. In fact, after our meal the owner sat with us for quite a while just chatting. I love it! We started with the bosphorus platter - I love grape leaves - but in general it was really good. My wife had a gyro and I had the Iskender Kebab. Honestly, I had no idea what I was getting but it was super good. Everything really was. The funny thing is I don't really like French fries but there are some I grew up with that I loved (I grew up around a lot of Greeks) and these fries are the best I've had in years! It really brought me back to childhood and that was super fun! The place itself was tiny. He was explaining that he meant to be like being in someone's living room and initially didn't even have this many seats but I'm glad he does because he really enjoying being there and loved his hospitality! read more

Wanted to try Turkish food. Service was incredible, the host was super welcoming! He gave us a special drumstick preparation for that night on the house, which was one of the most juiciest chicken ever had. Flavor of the kabobs was not so great in comparison to Mediterranean food we have had. It was little bland for us. He gave us tremendous quantity of fries and rice on the side. visiting from out of town, stopped here cuz we saw it was highly rated. walked in seeing tons of turkish decor and a big turkish flag. best mediterranean food i have ever had by far. we got the dinner special to split among 4 people, it was 90 dollars and we could not finish it. had the most amazing chicken, shit was super tender and perfectly seasoned. gyro meat and steak were also peak. we got the rice and salad before the meat and we KNEW off of those alone we were gonna have an amazing meal. service was perfect too, absolutely no complaints. 4 tables inside so mildly gatekeep this place but give them more money so they can open more of these. read more

I haven't been feeling well for the last week so take out was in order. Saw the reviews for Bosphorus and had to check it out. Cons: small parking lot in front, side street parking and apparently parking in back though I didn't see how to get there. Tried to call ahead but they put me on hold and never came back. Service time - took about 1/2 an hour to produce 3 entrees and a Bosphorus appetizer platter for two. Restaurant is small and only has about 5 tables and seating for maybe 15. Two other orders along with mine were placed at about the same time. Referencing the item # from the menu really helps. It got a little confusing since there are different "Bosphorous " combos. Bosphorus appetizer for two was the one item that didn't blow me away on value. 2 small stuffed grape leaves, small portion of hummus and basically a standard Greek salad- about $10. Falafel was flavorful but pretty dense. Beef and chicken kabobs are actually small diced chunks of meat; meat appeared grilled with some char. The kebabs and meatballs were a little dry; the gyro meats seem to have that dried crust from being cut in advance. Pros - Value without doubt. Each entree could easily feed two. Ordered the Sultan plate for two and it was a to go clamshell stuffed to the top with the assortment of meat. All the meat had great flavor. Our favorites were the beef-lamb gyro and the chicken gyro - tender and flavorful. The stuffed grape leaves were delicious. We ordered the Bosphorus appetizer platter and wished we just ordered the grape leaves, though the hummus was very good. Owner and staff - exceptionally friendly. Warm handshake from the owner. Acknowledged and apologized for taking so long and already put in complimentary baklava in the bag....which was also delicious. Truthfully, the experience today is bumped up purely by the interaction with the owner. He was warm and friendly as was his staff. Food had a few shortfalls but nothing that can't get dialed in with practice. read more
