I can't begin to tell you how amazing Istanbul is! Everything is so incredible good! I want to try everything. If you only get one thing, make it the baklava...to die for!! Please go try right now.

Don't be fooled by the casual ambiance, Istanbul Cafe and Bakery is packed with exceptional customer service and food with flavor that will have you craving for more after one bite. Both owners, Marla and Soner, were extraordinarily kind and helpful. This was our first visit to an all-Turkish Cafe and Bakery in Denver, CO. The Turkish coffee we purchased--served with a Turkish delight, was a unique and delicious experience, with a lovely presentation. My partner enjoyed the savory pastry: Ground Beef Borek (Filo dough, ground beef, spices)--he mentioned several times how yummy this was. Although there weren't any gluten-free pastries, we were informed that they use red flour--they have customers who have a slight tolerance to gluten and don't have an issue. **However, always ask your medical professional regarding if red flour is something you can tolerate with your gluten allergy (unfortunately, I have celiac disease). Istanbul Cafe did have a few breakfast items with eggs and stewed tomatoes that were gluten-free (minus the side of bread) if you are also wanting to purchase food with your coffee. When we shared that we are planning to visit Turkey, Marla was beyond knowledgeable regarding places to see and areas to stay. We will definitely be back to support this hidden family-owned gem!

Worst people and the service. Dont come by. I don't prefer just spent our money for no reason. We just left the place when we see our food this way. So regret it. Don't recommend.

A week ago, I came across a documentary about bread. It featured a Turkish staple, simit. Eagerly, I googled 'simit,' and Istanbul Cafe and Bakery popped up in my search. Within minutes, I was driving towards their Northwest location off Zuni. I like trying one item when encountering a new restaurant/cafe to ensure I like it. And after ordering a Simit, I was very intrigued by their menu. I made a mental note to stop by for breakfast one day soon. Fast forward to today, the 20th anniversary of my husband and I's union. I wanted to take him out for breakfast and immediately remembered Istanbul Cafe and Bakery. So, we decided to visit their Southeast location off Monaco since it was near other places where we wanted to run errands. Fortunately, it wasn't too packed; there was plenty of seating. We placed our order for a Mom's plate and a Dad's plate, along with two Turkish coffee services to start. The kind lady at the register offered to keep the tab open in case I wanted to try anything else. The wait for our order wasn't long; it was certainly fresh. The Mom's plate is quite big, shareable almost. The Dad's plate is similar to the Mom's plate without the added Simit and Su Börek (handmade egg noodle sheets layered and filled with Turkish white cheese and parsley, like a lasagna without the sauce). I definitely needed help with the Simit and Su Börek, though. The coffee was fantastic. I prefer a touch of sugar with mine, which was readily available on the table. The coffee service came with a treat, a lokum, also known as a Turkish delight, which is a soft, jelly candy that makes for a great palate cleanser. Before we left, we added a chocolate baklava (which I'm saving for dessert later today), and my husband ordered a Nutella Acma (Turkish croissant with Nutella) for a snack later. Everything we've had has been very delicious and fresh. The staff is especially welcoming and eager to answer questions and help their patrons familiarize themselves with their simple yet delicious menu. We're so happy to have found this cafe and will be visiting quite often!

You know why this place is so highly rated? Because it's great! The service from the moment I walked in was warm, generous, and hospitable. I was offered a sample of Ground Beef Börek, fresh from the oven. Amazing! Flakey filo, warm, and delicious. I chose to order that, a Turkish coffee, and finished with baklava. All recommendations from the man behind the counter. The staff, a man and woman, were kind and seemed to be happy to be at work. You get the feeling that they're proud of what they're serving and they're enthusiastic to share it with you. How refreshing! The inside is small with a handful of tables and I was able to use Apple Pay. One tiny cup of Turkish coffee has a kick! I will be back to this small counter service cafe, and I will bring people I love because the that's what's being served.

First, I want to say the staff here are always so amazing and kind. I ordered my food and the guy asked if I wanted to try a sample of their baklava for free - it was amazing! I ordered the Sucuk Tost with Eggs for lunch - I have had this for breakfast and lunch before. It's so tasty. I also got the Turkish coffee (yes Turkish coffee is a very small portion of coffee that does not come with milk but can come with sugar). I was unaware the first time I ordered it but it is very good. I don't typically like coffee without cream but I could drink this every day. The inside of the cafe is also very nice and welcoming. Highly recommend this place.

It was nice to see a Turkish restaurant in Denver. We actually ordered lunch menu items instead of their set breakfast items. My daughter ordered sucuk tost that she missed from Turkey. She liked it. I ordered sucuk and eggs. It was good but I hoped eggs would be sunny side up but they were scrambled eggs with sucuk so I couldn't dip my bread in the eggs. We also ordered pide with sucuk and egg. That was not like pides in Turkey so it was disappointing. We also ordered Turkish black tea. Overall the food wa good and the lady at the counter also explained everything even though we knew all the food selection. That's good for people new to Turkish cuisine. It is not a sit down restaurant but kind of fast food. You order at the counter and they deliver to your table.

I saw this place from across the parking lot while stopping at the King Soopers last week and had to stop in. The cafe is clean and the display cases are full of scrumptious looking treats, both sweet and savory. The woman who helped me was really nice and gave a few complimentary samples to my son and I as well as to the man ahead of us when she learned that it was our first time in. I ordered 2 savory pastries- a potato stuffed and a spinach and feta stuffed. They were both good but I like the spinach and feta s little more because it was more flavorful. I also got a portion (3 pieces) of baklava and am so glad I dad- very yummy. My son is taking art classes in the neighborhood for the next month and I definitely plan to be back as I am excited to eat my way through their menu!

The presentation was gorgeous with the puree spread out beautifully on a large dish, topped with olives, paprika, parsley, and a very generous dollop of delicious olive oil. An outstanding version of this dish. We received a large plate of very fresh pita triangles to go with the baba ganoush. These were great. We definitely used them to scrape every speck of eggplant off that platter! We both ordered the Gyro Plate. The gyro meat was very authentic, extremely tender, and very flavorful. The plate included a large tower of savory rice, a rich tzatziki sauce, a nice side of silky hummus, some pickled vegetables, and more pita. Another delicious offering and a huge portion. We also had soup as the entrees come with soup or salad. My friend tried the lentil soup and said it was flavorful and tasty. I had the tomato soup which was hardy and richly-flavored. This was a great meal. There's a pastry case with a choice of many Middle Eastern desserts. My friend selected several to take home and we staggered out of the restaurant with lots of leftovers that will make a delightful lunch tomorrow. A wonderful experience.

If you haven't tried a Turkish breakfast it's time you did! My husband and I shared the Mom's breakfast which had so much food that we could barely eat it all. There was an omelette thing with some thin sausage, a noodle and egg dish with crispy filo on top, part of a baguette (with Nutella, cherry jam, honey & butter) and a bagel-like pastry with sesame seeds on the outside, hard boiled eggs, sliced cucumbers, grape tomatoes, 2 kinds of cheese, 2 kinds of olives...Everything was so good I want to go to Turkey even more now! I also tried their Turkish tea that was black tea with bergamot. But it wasn't at all like earl gray. My husband had to get his usual mocha and said it was nice & not too sweet. The foraged mushroom and brussels sprouts were my favorite. I especially loved the jalapenos on the brussels sprouts one. The hummus itself was creamy and rich and the pita they bring is warm and fresh. The tabbouleh was fine but nothing spectacular and it says it has avocado in it but I didn't detect it. I love muhammara and theirs did not disappoint. The pickled vegetables were nice but I also love pickled anything. Absolutely make sure to get the bright green falafels. Probably my favorite of the night. Perfectly crispy exterior with a soft warm center that I'd eat over and over again. We ordered the duck but I was quite full so did not taste it. The only reason I'm giving 4/5 stars is the scallops were incredibly underwhelming and quite bland. The scallops themselves were cooked fine but no flavor and the pomegranate sauce didn't add much. There desserts were also just so-so.
