We have typically worked directly with Kyle, the owner, especially because our children drive these vehicles and he truly values safety. This time, however, we worked with Mark. Things started off well. I made it clear that the vehicle was for my son, and initially, Mark seemed attentive. He even asked for a Yelp review while I was signing the paperwork, but I prefer to wait until the entire process is completed before leaving a review. Unfortunately, after the paperwork was signed, the experience went downhill. The vehicle needed servicing because the battery would not start. Mark informed my son that a part had to be ordered and that the car would be ready on Monday or Tuesday. Monday passed, and on Tuesday (1/13/26), Mark texted my son stating the vehicle would be ready at 1:00 PM. When my son and husband arrived on Tuesday, things became frustrating. They were told that the temporary tags Ms. Hall had prepared were misplaced. My husband also noticed that Mark seemed more focused on selling cars to other customers rather than assisting the customer who was standing right in front of him. It felt as though my son and his vehicle were no longer a priority since the paperwork was signed. When the car was finally started, it became clear that there was no gas in the vehicle. Mark continued running the car despite this and stated he was too busy to get gas, yet the car could not be moved off the lot. The car eventually ran out of gas right there. Mark then said he would send someone to get gas. After waiting for some time, someone arrived with a gas can, filled the vehicle, and Mark said everything was fine. However, once my husband got into the car to finally leave, he realized that the windows and radio were not working. Because of this, we were unable to even check the heating and cooling to see how it worked. My husband went back inside to inform Mark, but instead of addressing the issue, Mark told him hold on, made a phone call, spoke briefly to others, stated he was leaving, and walked out leaving my husband standing in the parking lot without any explanation. Before my husband could become more upset, AJ stepped in thankfully. I want to sincerely thank AJ, Alex, Ms. Hall, and Scott for stepping up and helping us through this situation. Their efforts did not go unnoticed. They worked together as a team to help resolve the issue. While we are still waiting for the vehicle to be fully serviced, AJ and Scott went above and beyond by providing us with a loaner car in the meantime. Because of them, our confidence in 518 Auto has not been completely lost, and we truly appreciate their professionalism and support.

I've always been happy with them but my recent sales experience is bad. I was flat out lied to and none of the the discounts or KBB values were honored. I was in a pickle and needed a vehicle so I signed a good deal but was lied to on additional discounts I was eligible for even when I showed them the discounts. 1. $1000 buyer down payment assistance not honored 2. I was charged $899 for the Banister Lifetime Warranty which is supposed to be no charge to customer 3. I showed an email and text showing $2500 over KBB for trade, they didn't honor it! None of this was honored, none. I didn't raise a stink because I thought I was getting a good deal yet I was actually told false information. Now, I know it was false and contacted them, to date no reply, nothing at all...crickets! I am highly disappointed in Banister. This is my fifth purchase from Banister, four from Chesapeake and one from Norfolk. This will be my last and will no longer recommend them.

This was my first experience trying to purchase a vehicle that I could not see first hand for myself. Justin made it a seamless, easy, and confidence inspiring experience. From what I could gather, his dealership maintains, inspects, and corrects their vehicles to the best of their ability before selling them to the public and that is nothing but honorable, trustworthy, and respectable business practice. Justin is straight, to the point, and no fluff as any good mechanic should be. He took care of me and even left a little cash in the car upon delivery so I could go get it cleaned up after its long trip (had it delivered a few states over) so it could look nice and new for the first impression to friends and family. Justin absolutely does his best to deliver a quality product to his customers. Not all used cars can be perfect on the spot, but he makes up for that variable with a solid business ethic, customer service, and a love for the community. I would recommend his dealership to anyone.

They sold my son a Toyota Tundra for $15K and within an hour of leaving the lot ALL the dash lights came on. They allowed him to bring it back for their "Mechanic" to repair and basically claimed to have fixed the issue, but refused to provide any paperwork showing what was done (AKA they reset the codes). Long story short the lights came back on the dash and when my son took it to Toyota he was informed that the Transmission needed to be replaced at a price point of $7K amongst other issues including an Exhaust Leak and extensive rust that we couldn't see. Surfside's Sales Rep and Owner refused to accept any responsibility. Play by play so you can decide if this is a Company you want to do business with: Purchased an 07 Toyota Tundra for $15,500 on 2.24.24 at 10:30AM within hours of leaving dealership Numerous dash lights popped up, Contacted Kevin with Surfside Auto Dealership via text and sent Video of the Dash Lights and he said it sounds like a sensor so run the codes and they will fix it. 2.24.24 at 6:58PM Sent Kevin with Surfside Auto Dealership the printout from Auto Zone indicating the Transmission Assembly & Torque Converter would need to be replaced. 2.25.24 Dealership was closed so on 2.26.24 Dropped off truck to Kevin with Surfside Auto Dealership for dash lights repair - Have Video of him saying they would take care of the issue (to large to upload) 2.28.24 Contacted Kevin with Surfside Auto Dealership via text to check on status and he stated the truck will be ready for pickup tomorrow afternoon. It had a stability sensor and transmission cooling sensor causing the dash lights. 2.29.24 Kevin with Surfside Auto Dealership text to say the truck is ready to be picked up and is operating perfectly 3.10.24 Contacted Kevin with Surfside Auto Dealership via text to let him know the dash lights were back on and he said the sensor wire must have a short and there is nothing wrong with the transmission for sure, but he will schedule another appointment for the truck to be dropped off. After getting the run around on another appointment, dropped truck off to Kevin with Surfside Auto Dealership on 3.15.24. On 3.21.24 the truck was still sitting in their parking lot so I called and was told it would be looked at tomorrow 3.22.24. 3.23.24 Kevin with Surfside Auto Dealership text to say the truck is back at their dealership, but the dash light is still flashing. There is no short that he can find or sensor issues. He then stated via text "The Owners have said that there is nothing we can do and it was fine when test driven and purchased." 3.26.24 Dropped the truck off to Toyota Dealership for a proper Diagnosis - Toyota Mechanic stated Transmission needs to be replaced (see video and Toyota Diagnosis paperwork uploaded to box.com) Transmission replacement Quote $7,320.35 Also, asked Kevin if the fan blower for AC that was listed on the paperwork when truck was purchased was in an and he stated it was on backorder - NEVER HEARD ANOTHER WORD!!

I purchased a "Hendrick Certified" Pre-Owned 2022 Chevrolet Silverado from this location. The vehicle subsequently suffered a severe powertrain failure where the engine stalled completely at highway speeds due to a crankshaft circuit fault--an issue explicitly detailed under GM Technical Service Bulletin TSB #24-NA-012. The dealership's service department held my truck for 21 cumulative days for this repair. Despite this extensive timeframe, they failed to permanently resolve the issue. Just 58 days later, the identical mechanical failure reoccurred, leaving me with an unsafe vehicle and forcing me to seek third-party repair services elsewhere to ensure my safety on the road. Worse than the failed mechanical service was the behavior of the dealership's management. When I pushed for a resolution regarding the uncorrected highway safety hazard, the franchise General Manager explicitly attempted to intimidate me by weaponizing my military status and making career threats under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). For a civilian commercial entity to use military law as a coercive tactic to suppress a consumer safety complaint is entirely unacceptable. A formal safety report has been officially logged with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and a corporate ethics case has been opened through General Motors compliance. I am sharing this publicly so local consumers--and our local military community--are fully aware of how this franchise handles critical vehicle defects and customer relations.

Additionally, listed in the advertisement as you will see below, "warranties available" was listed. When I asked for one I was denied. Now to get to the issues. U-joints for the main drive shaft where almost completely gone. No bearings left and turned oval. Stripped lugs and lug nuts, they tried to keep on with some king of grease. Front diff cover had been smashed by someone and it was leaking, despite being listed as "no leaks". Fuel bowl regulator spring housing was installed wrong and I could see the o-ring, causing diesel fuel to dump into the valley. High pressure oil lines were leaking oil. Frame was cut for starter clearance? Also has some crazy hardware combination. They told me they bought the truck with an 8in lift and down sized it to a 4in lift (to which they gave me a receipt for)WITHOUT ADDRESSING THE FRONT DRIVESHAFT. Which means it was too long. Fully depressed against the u-joint. Put all the force the front suspension is supposed absorb into the transfer case. More about the transfer case later. I had to jack the truck up to get it out it was under so much pressure. They apparently replaced the ball joints on the front. Granted they do look newer than everything else and did provide receipts. But the boots are gone. I'm guessing from shoddy installation. The hubs, which they had to remove to install the ball joints where reinstalled 90 degrees to the right, putting the wire for the abs sensors behind the caliper and causing it to split the wire. Additionally, the snap ring THAT HOLDS THE HUB TO THE AXEL was missing on the drivers side. I'm lucky I saw the wire mistake and decided to fix it. Front tie-rod ball joints were shot and one side not even secured inside the hub. This is responsible for the steering. Remember, listed as a "daily driver". I'm starting to think either they or the person they bought it from sunk it while mudding. Either that or it was in a flood and not reported. The trans cooler was completely clogged with mud as well as the frame and many other places mud should not be. Inside door panels, dash, etc. Hidden by detailers work. The other thing that makes me think it was sunk is the transfer case fluid was chocolate milk. Signaling water was mixed with. Additionally, I'm guess from the lack of attention to detail regarding the front drive shaft, a broken piece of the internals came out with my chocolate frappe fluid. Additionally, I think they knew about this because the drain plug was suspiciously loose. Not to mention, as the dealership you're supposed to go over these vehicles when you selling them. Especially listed as a daily driver. And a "GOOD DAILY" at that! To top it all off they tried to not give me the stock rims in the truck, shown in the listing, in the bed of the truck. The salesmen came up to me and literally lied through his teeth. He said "they're for another truck, they don't even go to this thing". But when driving in my neighborhood I saw the same truck with the same rims, searched on google and realized they're my stock rims...... Which they did give back after asking for a review! hahahaha Good news is I have receipts. I was required to sign an "as-is" agreement, but in the Commonwealth, that's not the end all be all. Refusing me a warranty when it was advertised as having one available is illegal in itself. If google wasn't being a PIA I would have all the photos attached. I will edit later to add them. Including the original listing pulled from their website.
