I really do not write reviews often, if at all. But I felt compelled after working with David and his team. A little background... I brought in a 2018 Wrangler JK and talked to him about modifications. Before even discussing what changes we could make, he did a thorough inspection and test drive. He then walked me through a host of options. We ended up with a brand new suspension, wheels, updated touch screen with apple play and a bunch of other mods. Bottom line, it was a seamless, honest and professional interaction. Everything was clear up front and the work was incredible. I was looking to set up a full inspection on a 2004 Wrangler that I am looking at purchasing in the next few days. I wrote Boston Jeepz about 8:30AM on a Monday and then called them when they opened at 9AM. The person answering the phone had already seen my email and had my name and story. I did learn they only work on Jeeps within 10 years vintage. While disappointed, I completely understand the reasons behind it. That being said, the person I spoke with was very helpful and we had a good general discussion on used Jeeps. If I had a younger Jeep, I would definitely have brought it ot this shop. I have wanted a Jeep Wrangler since I was a kid and finally bought a 2017 4 door this year! I knew I wanted to modify the jeep with rims tires, the works and I spent months researching the right shop to bring it to and I absolutely could not have found a better place! Their website gave me all the information I needed and didn't leave me asking any question except "when can i come in?". They are responsive, friendly and professional. I barely ever had a question about things because they laid out the process and all my options so clearly. My build took a few days less than expected which was great but they also kept me updated each day they had my jeep. These guys are amazing and so great to work with. I came to them after a tree fell on my Jeep Wrangler and totaled my soft-top. Prior to that I had been experiencing the aptly-know "Death wobble" that is inherent in some Jeeps. A few years back I had had another shop look at it and they did their best to address but the underlying issue was never fully addressed. Within a day of dropping my wrangler off, they called me with a full list of issues and solutions and a variety of ways to move forward. They were clear and concise and explained everything to me and answered any question I had about the work. I know the price to fix everything wasn't going to be cheap, but they helped me out as best they could and I 100% trust that the money spent was for quality and trust-worthy work. All of the work was completed over a long weekend and I had my car back and in better shape than I had left it, in under a week. A few weeks later in a completely unrelated issue, the lever connecting my shifting to my transmission popped. Having had it happen at night, AAA towed me to a shop nearby to be looked at in the morning. (I should have just waiting to get towed till the AM and had them take it to Boston Jeepz! Lesson learned.) The shop charged me $100 for a non-refundable diagnostic fee (which they didnt tell me the night before!) They quoted me nearly $3000 to fix the transmission and a slew of other services that had no effect on the issue I came in with. I opted to not work with that shop and had my Jeep towed to Newton. Within an hour of it arriving at Boston Jeeps, I was called once again with a complete list of the problems and solutions suggested. 90% of the work I had been quoted at the previous shop was frivolous and didnt need to be done. Boston Jeepz took care of the issue with my transmission for a reasonable amount and I had my car back by the end of the day. Timely, concise, professional. Recently bought a 2007 Grand Cherokee with 110,000 miles. After reading all the reviews on Boston Jeepz I felt like it was the best place for me to bring my Jeep even though I live over an hour away. Best decision I made. I spoke with Drew and Dave and was astounded by their in depth knowledge on every aspect of Jeeps. They explained things thoroughly and spent a lot of time talking with me to address my concerns. After leaving my Jeep there to be checked over I got a call from Dave. He was so honest and told me that the things I was looking to do with my WK were not needed and my goal of trying to make my Jeep with 110,000 miles into a brand new car were not realistic. It is close to impossible to find a place that tells you not to spend unneeded money on your car, but at Boston Jeepz they are not in it just for the money. Called to inquire about modifying my Jeep TJ with a budget of 15k. Gentleman who answered the phone, maybe named Dave (David Freeman?), was really quite standoff-ish and confrontational. Seemed to either be in a really bad mood or just not a very happy dude. Heard him yelling rudely at another customer in the background as well. I felt like I was interviewing to be his customer, and he gave me the distinct feeling that I was bothering him. Also said 15k would get me a custom lift and nothing more - I'd rather go elsewhere for a standard lift for my standard Jeep for the standard price of under 3k. Really strange encounter all around, especially given this place's supposedly good average rating based on supposedly real historical reviews. Wouldn't let the guy I spoke to work on my cars. Update: the company (presumably the guy I originally spoke to) responded to the above feedback by saying they "reviewed my call," before going on to misrepresent and falsify the content of the conversation. It's really a pretty crazy response. Similarly crazy/angry responses have historically been posted by the company before being edited later to be more reasonable). Most importantly, they incriminated themselves by saying they reviewed the call, as doing so implies the call was recorded. My understanding is that recording calls is illegal in the state of Massachusetts unless participants are made aware that the call is being recorded (I am not a lawyer). They also tried to shame me for my review by sharing my information online. They could do the same to you or anybody else that they take issue with. I had nothing against this company, was spoken to rudely over the phone, and figured it warranted a review. In doing so I've apparently unveiled the company's true colors. It's really a shame. So glad to have spared my Jeep from whatever goes on at this place. read more

I was looking at buying a 2013 Sahara and brought it into Dave to inspect it before purchase based on all of the other 5 star reviews here. He gave me a very honest and thorough review of the vehicle, explaining what needed to be worked on and what didn't. His experience and knowledge of the entire Jeep line is incredible. I decided to buy the Jeep and then brought it in for several phases of work. Dave consulted on modifications to lift the Jeep and to add only the "Boston Jeepz approved" wheels that they know fit their engineered specs and will not cause problems or safety issues down the road. Their attention to safety and longevity to survive the New England winters is important and I appreciated how he would always give a few options that balance cost and how long things would potentially need to be replaced. After the lift and wheels were finished, my Jeep drove and handled better than it did with the stock/standard components. I brought it back to Boston Jeepz a few months later to add bumpers, fenders and lights and, as expected, they did excellent work. I love how the vehicle looks and drives - it feels safer and is a lot more fun to be in. I will have all of my future servicing done here and would highly recommend Boston Jeepz for both service and modifications. read more

They did a good, thorough job on the Wrangler when the check engine light was on. Though, there was a tire pressure warning light on - which later proved to be a big issue- and they did not investigate or followed up on. To their defend- I took the car in right before a snow storm- so maybe they were trying to get things done and cars out of their lot ASAP and before the storm. read more

Hi! I contacted Boston Jeepz in Newton, MA because I was having a hard time trying to get in contact with another shop in the south shore to upgrade my Jeep. I bought a 2004 Jeep Wrangler Sport in February, my 3rd Wrangler, and I wanted to look towards getting it lifted and 33" tires on it. When I went down and spoke with Dave, I was very impressed with his knowledge, and made a very compelling case as to why we needed to have other items on my Jeep addressed before we get to modification. Dave was respectful, courteous and not only explained to me as to what was wrong with my Jeep, but had it lifted and showed me the problems underneath the beast. Although the list of repairs were pretty extensive, they were able to turn around the Jeep in 2 days!!! These guys are very flexible and treat you with respect. The prices were very fair to boot, especially compared to my usual mechanic. I am sure I would have paid at least 25% more at any other shop (and that's being conservative). They did high quality work, and Dave is the kind of guy that takes into consideration what needs to be done now and what should be done but can wait. He leaves options open for you while giving you the information you need, because, believe it or not, he actually cares about how much you will have to pay and doesn't even try to push you to pay for repairs you don't need. After the winter I plan on going back to Boston Jeepz to tackle a few final repairs, and then it's lift time!!! The Jeep drives great! I was very happy with the service, and I am happy that I went with Boston Jeepz. I would take my Jeep to no other shop, and look forward to getting in Mod-Mode after winter!!! After spending over 1,000 dollars at my trusted mechanic of 10 years, I was told that my Grand Cherokee was a total loss and that I should look for a new car. This is a solid all around business. The owner, Dave, runs it on site and has a ton of experience. They will take the time to explain to you what needs to be done and makes sure you understand and are happy before starting any work. Also, they were super fast at least in my case. I called after being disappointed with the service at another shop and they had me come right over. Did a spot estimate in 15 minutes, and had the car fixed in 6 hours. Plus they have a discounted agreement with a rental car place that will pick you up right there. While its called Boston Jeepz, I drive a Chrysler and they helped me out. Depending on how busy they are, I get the impression that they generally prefer to stick with Jeeps but it couldn't hurt to call and ask if they can take care of you no matter what you drive. I dropped off my '05 Wrangler and wished I had come here before. They diagnosed my problem in a few hours and even stayed late on July 3rd to get my ride back to me before they went on vacation. This recommendation is long overdue. I have been taking my 2000 Jeep Cherokee to Boston Jeepz since 2010, when it first started having major issues and no other mechanic seemed to be able to fix it. I cannot say enough about how great David and Tara are and how well they have taken care of me and my Jeep (Esther), since then. First the background info: I've got a 2000 Jeep Cherokee (XJ) with over 218,000 miles on it. I have personally performed most services on my XJ from replacing inner axle seals and transmission filters to welding and body modifications for improved off-road performance - which doesn't mean anything more than the fact that I'm familiar with my vehicle and its capabilities and know my way around the factory service manual. With the high mileage and off-road upgrades I've done I don't have any expectations of 20+ mpg, but after replacing a number of components that were worn out (CPS, CKS, Plugs, etc) I reached the end of my knowledge to get back some of the performance I'd lost over the years. I called Dave and was initially impressed with his willingness to talk through potential areas of concern (00 XJ's are notorious for bad blocks and subsequently cracked heads). He listened to me explain the component replacement I'd done and why and then addressed the areas that could still be problematic. All of this was over the phone. When I brought my XJ in for him to check and diagnose he methodically explained what he was going to do, how he was going to do it and what the results would identify. His shop is state of the art and his knowledge and experience from many years with Chrysler Corporate were a refreshing change. Dave identified areas I needed to keep an eye on and performed an upper chamber cleaning that restored a good deal of my lost power. He was also forthright in letting me know (that with the mileage already on my XJ) that unless I put in a brand new engine I wasn't going to get back to "like new" performance. Honest professional assessment, knowledge and experience that only those who are leaders in their field exhibit, and an upfront desire to identify the problem and correct it the first time - quite an impressive package in a local Jeep shop. Without any reservation I will recommend Dave to any Jeep owners in the area and will continue to bring my XJ and my wife's Rubicon to him for every service need that we may ever have. And honestly, if you're not bringing your Jeep here you're more than likely not giving your XJ/TJ/JK/WJ/etc the professional care it deserves. read more

I have an '09 Wrangler 4 door that needed some front-end work done. The car was having some serious steering oscillation (better known as the jeep death rattle) and the previous shop I took the car to claimed everything was fine. I dropped my Jeep off on a Monday evening, had a complete no-bull damage report the next morning by 9 AM. We decided to replace the tires, the front axel joints, ball joints, etc. The work was completed in 12 hours and I picked up my Jeep Tuesday evening. David and his staff definitely know what they are doing.
