They overcharge for all of their services such as internet, the restaurant is inedible and their Hotel is filthy. Complete sham.

This hotel is okay but overpriced for the amenities. We've paid considerably less and gotten more than we did at this hotel. The room was reasonably sized except that the lavatory area was very small and had just one sink. Like nearly every hotel we stay in, there was only one luggage rack - honestly, when will hotels figure out that parties of two arrive with two suitcases? Also, when will hotels in this price range offer free internet in our rooms? We often pay less than $100 per night when on the road. When we stay in a $200+ night, we are nearly always charged for internet. This makes no sense and we never pay for it opting instead to find free internet at nearby restaurants, etc. The room decor was nicely done. The hotel is being redecorated, so the lobby has ups and downs, the biggest for us being that one elevator was out of service the evening everyone in the hotel returned from a Boston Pops concert - maybe the timing could have excluded working on the lobby that night? The last night of our stay we attended a banquet for our reunion group in the hotel. We had already attended one dinner where the food had been acceptable. Our banquet was a seated dinner, and I ordered the fish option which was listed as sea bass. This fish could not have really been sea bass as it was absolutely the worst fish I've ever been served - after one bite, I pushed it aside and ate the other parts of my meal. Farmed salmon would have been a much tastier choice. Another issue for me was having to pay twice as much for the night we decided to add on after we made our initial reservation for my husband's reunion. It appeared when we made the reservation we could have had more than our initial 3-night stay at the reduced rate but when we decided to come a day early (before the events started, not in the middle of the events) we had to pay nearly twice as much for the same room - shame on Marriott for gouging us. read more

Love this hotel. I have stayed here for two weekends in November. On my first weekend we got a stellar view of the Charles. Great beds, comfy pillows and clean everything. Things I love about this hotel: indoor pool with sauna, high quality gym (they actually offer memberships to residents near-by - its that nice), starbucks is in the hotel, super convenient to MIT, and running along the Charles. Quick walk across the bridge to downtown Boston and shopping at the Pru, close to Whole Foods, and other great eating options Things I would change: The carpet in the elevator (it smells and looks gross), someone please stop all the construction everywhere all the orange cones and flags are ugly! Not recommended for those who need a quick route to Logan - it isn't very close to the airport Overall, this is a quiet hotel that is recommended for all types of travelers. read more

This hotel was very nice! We were disappointed to see the pool was closed, but the cleanliness and attention to detail was definitely noticed. Close to subway transportation, and easily walk-able to any part of Boston site-seeing. The bathroom doors were a little strange, but other than that no complaints! read more

While I know it's lame to only rate this hotel on the basis of it's lobby, I know some Yelpers like myself are always in the hunt for good hotspots, and this is a great one. I've killed many hours here waiting for meetups, and I know keyboard time is precious to all you mobile warriors. You can use the guest/lobby wifi for free and squat at any number of accommodating coffee tables or love seats. As of this review, the lower lobby is under construction, but the second floor lobby is fair game and never seems to be too busy. And...oh, I almost don't want to say it. But I'll do it for your love. If you're feeling especially leech-like, you can even enjoy their citrus/cucumber infused water and sometimes coffee/tea. Kind of wish they had a tip jar so we could all keep our karmic balances reasonable. Happy surfing. read more

I don't care what holiday it is, if you are charging for a room than the expectations of cleanliness/service should live up to the rate. We paid ~240$ with an additional 70$ parking fee for one night. Let us start with the room. Great location, we were on the fourth floor overlooking some street and trees, yay thanks! The first think I noticed was a dirty nasty tissue stuffed in the corner of one of the photos hanging on the wall and then the towel rack ripped out of the wall dangling. I normally wouldn't care but the second thing I noticed was a tip envelope on the desk with the cleaners info on it. Nope. Back to the basics please. Don't get me wrong, the location is awesome but that is only worth so much. Also, when we called down to ask about the WiFi the man on the phone was incredibly rude and condescending. I know that they were busy with the holiday weekend but I am still paying for the room and I wasn't asking for a dirty room/rude service worker discount to make up for it. There has to be some give and take here even on their end. One of the 4 elevators was out of service and we waited 24 minutes for an elevator before we decided to hike our three kids and luggage down the stairs from the 11th floor (where our family also had a room). I would only stay here again if I absolutely had to and felt for the price it was not worth it. read more

On the value for money and experience scale, the Cambridge Marriott needle barely reaches two. Be very careful if you're booking through online services like Hotwire or Expedia. If you have the slightest of issues, the "persona non grata" effect kicks into overdrive. In our experience the management made little effort to hide the fact we didn't rate with the "real Marriott guests". The rooms are average to smallish, especially in the bathroom area. We found our room to be quite noisy with hallway traffic. Beds are comfortable (that is the real ones and not the pull out variety) but the extra charges could keep you awake at night. Parking will run you $24 overnight and internet access is $13 per day while the continental breakfast is $14. There are nice views from the upper floors and the T stop is right next door. There is not much happening in the neighborhood unless you're attending one of those raucous MIT parties. read more

Got this hotel off of Priceline.com and it was a steal!!! We paid about $140 for the room and it came with a beautiful view on the 17th floor. The check-in desk is super speedy and friendly. The location is literally right in front of the Kendall station which is very convenient! If it wasn't for the online deal, I doubt my boyfriend and I would have stayed here. Also, minus 1 star for the area lacking in choices of restaurants/bars - there's just tons of office buildings. read more

Nice hotel. Good location right at the T-stop in Kendall square and across from MIT. OK price. Poor customer service. I was charged for a water bottle that I did not consume because the staff neglected it to put it there. I complained of the charge before I left the hotel and was told it was taken care of only to find out that they charged my credit card anyway - $6.65 for a tiny bottle of water really???? Be careful of random charges in this hotel. Not really worth bothering to deal with this but I won't stay there again. Plus they charge $16 a day for a wifi - who does that in this day and age? read more

WOW.... never had an experience like this with a Marriott property. They oversold and my room reservation was canceled without informing me. I arrive at the hotel to manage an event offsite where I had shipped over 10 packages to the hotel that were ESSENTIAL to my event being a success. When I went to check in I was told sorry you have no room and therefore we probably shipped your packages back to sender - we do not keep packages when you are not a guest. EVEN THOUGH I WAS A GUEST until they told me otherwise. After asking for them to go check 3 times to find my packages they finally did and even brought me one that was not mine. When I told them this they said, "oh well". SO glad that was not one of my packages they just gave to a stranger. I then had to find a way to get all the boxes to a different hotel - they did not even help me find a place to stay. AWFUL service all around. Do not stay here. read more

Not the nicest Marriott I've stayed in, but not bad. My room was comfortable, with a great view of downtown Boston. The Starbucks in the lobby was a convenient option for breakfast (much cheaper than the hotel buffet), and the proximity to MIT was nice. The price for internet access was pretty steep, and I could hear my neighbor whistling to his 6:30 alarm (possibly the most unique rendition of OMD's 'How Bizarre' I've heard). But, I slept well, and got to work quickly in the morning--can't complain! read more

This hotel was pretty nice, but it's a marriott so you would expect it to be. the rooms were big and the beds comfy, the bathroom really clean. It was across the street from the metro station and there were a lot of good places to eat around. It's also near the universities so it was a decent stay. We were only there for a night and it was a little on the pricey side but it was a comfortable stay. They had a restaurant in the hotel that I heard was good, but we didnt eat there. And the conceirges were really helpful, providing us maps and directions to places we wanted to go. The y also had a little giftshop there that was pretty useful read more

Pros: The views sell this hotel. We had a riverside room on the 24th floor, and that combined with the floor-to-ceiling corner window in each room made for delightful views! The Boston skyline is aglow at night, and in the afternoon you can see boats on the Charles river. Charming! As for the actual room, it was somewhat small, but definitely not cramped or uncomfortable. The beds were comfy and the room was super clean, which I always appreciate. I also really liked that the red line is directly in front of the hotel. Makes for relatively easy access to surrounding places, and its a good way to save on cab fared. Cons: For how much I paid for the room, I was mildly annoyed at being charged $13 per day per computer for internet access. Most other Marriott's I've stayed at in major cities have complimentary internet access. I also didn't like that practically everything was closed at 530 pm on a Saturday afternoon, including all of the hotel and neighboring restaurants except Starbucks. I ended up having to take a cab to get a pre-dinner snack = inconvenient. Overall: Clean hotel with excellent views, but I'll probably stay in Boston next time, just for the convenience. read more

The views of Boston are some of the best you can find. Prices, well they go way up during Graduation. Fantastic Location, just far enough away from Boston to feel slow paced but a quick walk or T ride away from all the action. The staff was nice. Negatives: They Should give internet for free. We come here every year for a swim event. This is the first time we had an unpleasant experience. We paid for the lounge access the first two days. When we wanted to pay for the third and last day, the lady at the front desk quoted a price that was double of what I paid for previous days. Her attitude was dismissive and rude. There may very well be a good reason for the doubling of price and it may very well be at the complete discretion of the staff...but if it was uttered in an abrupt and condescending fashion, as it was in this case, it seemed arbitrary and, dare I say, discriminatory. read more

Do NOT stay in this hotel. No free wifi in the room. No free breakfast. No free parking. The only thing free? Well, we asked for an extra blanket and pillow ... Knowing them though ... it'll probably show up on the bill. Booked a room with two beds; was given a room with one bed and a couch. On top of it the room had not been vacuumed and the bathroom design is horrible. We could not control the heat on the shower head and I severely burned my hand. Right down the street you will find The Residence Inn. Stay there - better location, wifi in the room, breakfast buffet fit for a king or queen, and the staff is stellar. See how the other half lives. The Residence Inn is the answer. Book there and live like royalty. read more

Nice hotel but the thermostats in the rooms never EVER work right (I have been staying here for 10 years now). Food sucks EXCEPT Characters clam chowder and burgers and the Concierge level breakfast. It's located right on the T line so that's convenient if you don't have a car. The room is a good size with very comfortable beds and soft sheets. Would definitely stay here again. If you don't own a laptop, there's a business office with desktop computers - can be used for free. read more

This Mariott is just an average hotel. It can get very pricy though around the beginning of the tourist season though (April). The bathroom we had was small too. They do have free wifi in the lobby area though. We tried to check in early around noon, but they told us that we have to wait until after 3 or 4 PM, so we had to check our bags in while we strolled around Boston. It is conveniently located next to a red line station. read more

As a Marriott member, this is a solid one. Starting from the location, Kendall T stop is yards from the entrance. If you are more of a walking type, the Longfellow bridge is close by and will take you over the river to Charles Street, a lovely walk.... As other Marriotts, this one has the usual symbiotic relationship with Starbucks, but while we were there, we did not use it. Very accessible by car, with a public garage attached to the building. We were there during MITs commencement, but did not feel crowded. Very accommodating staff! Major bonus points here! Our initial room had a strong scent of bleach, we switched our rooms with no hassle. Another time, the staff brought us a mini fridge when my husband called to ask if there was a way to salvage our expensive wine bottle. Bonus points again! With all the focus on its rooms facing the Charles, this building is in desperate need of a good window cleaning service. We were there in May, in perfect Boston weather, not a cloud in the sky with what should have been lovely views of the city. Instead, we had alot of grime distracting from our view. Take care of this and its a solid 3.5 rating for this location. read more

Oh, and delicious, warm, freshly baked cookies at the main lobby desk every afternoon! (Note: they also have a concierge in the main lobby to help you with how to get to certain places, sightseeing, etc.) My only negative comments: They have a very, very small gift shop (few products, few snacks) + no bathroom in the main lobby, but there IS a very nice, casual restaurant in the hotel near the lobby w a clean bathroom there (also great food :) I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Boston/Cambridge area. read more

5 stars for the conjunction of cleanliness, competence, convenience and cordiality. I stayed here for four nights for business/personal trip, and came to really feel at home in my comfy room. Everything was sparkling clean and in good working order. The staff: housekeeping, front desk, starbucks staff, and bartender were friendly and helpful for anything that happened to come up. The assistant manager was really accommodating in setting me up with a great rate for an extra night at the hotel. I will share a few gripes which are the fault of Marriott corporate, not the local staff: * $13/day internet is nuts. Fortunately I had MiFil for my needs. * Bath area does need a drawer or two for toiletry storage. Do designers even stay in their hotels? * The rooms are smallish, a reflection of real estate prices in Cambridge vs. outlying areas. I had a king bed, I think two doubles might be pretty tight. Just got back from a great one day trip to MIT. This Marriott is easy to get to, and right in the middle of the MIT action. There are a number of eateries in the area. There is a Legal Seafoods, a Champions Sports Bar, A Starbucks and several other places easily walking distance or attached to the hotel. The RED LINE KENDALL square T stop was contiguous with the hotel too. The hotel is newish, and it is very quiet. If you pay the extra $30 for a river view room, you can see the Boston skyline and the famous CITGO sign over Fenway - definitely recommended. Rooms are small, but adequate, but do not plan to put a rollaway in a room with two doubles. And yes, it was 2 dbls - not 2 queens. There was no mini-fridge either, but probably could get one on request if needed. Bathrooms also tiny, but nice finishes. We spent little time in the room so it was fine that it was small. Parking a bit expensive for $40 for self park, but there is plenty of street parking, so probably easy on a Saturday night to street park as there is plenty of free parking on Sundays. The staff was very nice, welcoming and informative with no "attitude". read more

The rooms are spacious and the lobby is beautiful. The bathrooms were very clean and filled with enough towels to accommodate multiple guest. The cleaning staff neglected to give us clean glasses in our rooms but instead gave us spotty (with debris) glasses that were rendered useless. Upon further inspection we found a used razor (with hair) on the windowsill which was a little uncomfortable. When brought to the front desk associate's attention, she apologized and stated that it wasn't acceptable but didn't try to accommodate us in any way. If offered the chance to stay here again, I would have to think about it. read more

Two nights and a $900 bill. Very disappointing. Two nights without a good shower as Marriott has taken their "environmental conservation efforts" to a new level...water restricting devices (I assume) in the shower head that meters water down to a trickle...literally! Avoid Room 606! Champion (restaurant) also needs to learn how to cook a steak...and do their billing properly. I was charged for an extra meal that I never had. To their credit, I was refunded that amount after placing a call (and waiting 24h)...and had to make a 2nd call to get a new copy of the bill. Bottom line: pain in the a$$. read more

My girlfriend and I are never able to get away and had the time so spent an evening in Boston. She found the Marriott Cambridge and booked at ease. The stay was something different. Parking is horrendous at $47 for valet and $42 for the garage next to the hotel. The room was decent, spacious and clean. Went to take a shower and when I turned the handle to 'hot' the entire shower head, temperature handle and tub started vibrating like crazy! It sounded like a helicopter was landing in the bathroom! After 5 minutes of trying to find the right position for the handle to stop the vibration I then needed to figure out how to actually regulate the water temp, which ranged from scolding hot to extremely cold. Had the same issue with the sink. We hit the restaurant (Champions) for a drink before heading into the city. Bartenders were not very attentive or friendly. Actually of all the employees in there we didn't see one person even smile at a patron. Going back to the beginning about not ever getting out we were excited to be able to sleep in. Except the room above us began renovations at 8:00am sharp! Check out was at 12:00pm but because of the noise we packed up and left at 9:00am! When the service desk asked about our stay and I mentioned the early morning noise she said "yeah we are doing some renovations". Not I'm sorry. Not is there anything we can do to make you happy. Not satisfied at all with the stay. Luckily we had a blast inside the city or else the getaway would have been a wash. read more
